Claudio Perez, 53, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Thursday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

DonnaBelle Petz
DonnaBelle Petz, 71, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday
at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with a Honor Guard by the St. Vincent's Nurses Alumni Association. The Rev. George Zehnder, associate pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Petz was born Dec. 3, 1926, in rural West Point, Neb., the daughter of William G. and Emma (Mewies) Boldt. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from West Point Public School in 1944 and St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1947.

She married Lee Petz on April 4, 1948, in Bancroft, Neb. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1953. She was employed as a nurse at Lutheran Hospital for 10 years and then at Marian Health Center for 25 years in obstetrics. She retired in April 1987.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, NACOG, the American Nurse's Association, the St. Vincent's Alumni, the Wee Baby Welcome Service for 17 years and the Siouxland Senior Center.

Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Gary and Shelia of Homer, Neb.; a granddaughter, Kari Petz; a brother and his wife, Roy and Barbara Boldt of Suisun, Calif.; a sister and her husband, Judith and Robert Peace of San Mateo, Calif.; two stepbrothers, Robert Hugo of Wood River, Neb. and Donald and his wife Mary Hugo of Burlinggame, Calif.; an aunt; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and stepmother, Joan Boldt.

Pallbearers will be Gary, Lyle, Quintan Jr. and Jay Petz, George Naab and Robert Raver.

Vickie L. White
Vickie Lynn White, 46, of Sioux City died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at her residence following a brief illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednes day at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Headley, pastor of Open Bible Standard Church, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. White was born April 22, 1951, in Sioux City, the daughter of Steve A. and Roseanna (Woten) Monell. She graduated from Central High School in 1969, and received her L.P.N. degree from Western Iowa Tech Community College.

She married Richard A. White on May 20, 1972, in Elk Point, S.D. She was employed as an L.P.N. at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center for a few years and in food service at North High School for several years.

She was a member of Open Bible Standard Church. She enjoyed home decorating.

Survivors include her husband; her mother of Sioux City; four sons, Donnie, Richard Jr., Corey and Anthony "Tony," all of Sioux City; two sisters and their husbands, Lorna and Larry Goetchius and Rosemary and Myron Sands, all of Sioux City; and two brothers, Steve and his wife Cindy Monell of Fort Collins, Colo. and Mike Monell of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.

Merle L. Cooley, 81, of South Sioux City died Sunday; Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Edwin Abma
ROCK VALLEY, Iowa - Edwin Abma, 68, of Holland, Mich., formerly of Rock Valley, died Friday of a heart attack in Holland.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Holland. Additional services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Reformed Church in Doon, Iowa. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley is in charge of the arrangements.

Julia A. Buccola
LE MARS, Iowa - Julia A. (Calkins) Buccola, 77, of Le Mars died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at the Northwest Arkansas Medical Center in Springdale, Ark., following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Jerome Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Buccola was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Dell Rapids, S.D., the daughter of Martin and Cecelia (Schiltz) Wanderscheid. She moved with her family to Le Mars as a child and attended St. Joseph's Catholic School.

She married Vero D. Calkins on Aug. 9, 1941, in Rockport, Mo. The couple made their home in Le Mars, until 1970, when they moved to Akron, Iowa. He died April 16, 1978.

In early 1980s, she moved to Amarillo, Texas. She married Carl Buccola on Feb. 1, 1982. The couple lived in Amarillo, until his death on Nov. 9, 1994. She returned to Le Mars.

Survivors include five sons, David and his wife Beth of Springdale, Ark., Jack and his wife Jenyce of Amarillo, Dean and his wife Joyce of Waynesville, Mo., Terry and his wife Jo Ann of Amarillo and Tom of Des Moines; two daughters and their husbands, Sandi and Wayne Weatherford of Washburn, Mo. and Nancy and Doug Osterbuhr of Sheldon, Iowa; 29 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five sisters, Margaret Boetger, Bernetta Ernst, Rita Bay and Elizabeth and her husband Elmer Ernst, all of Le Mars and Mary Hodge of Canoga Park, Calif.; five brothers and their wives, Paul and Ethel of Sioux City, Harold and Rita and Martin and Arlene, all of Le Mars, Dale and Le and Jerome and Peggy, all of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Duane and her parents.

Robert L. Cain
HAWARDEN, Iowa - Robert Lee Cain, 54, of Hawarden died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at the Hawarden Community Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Andy Chako officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mr. Cain was born May 24, 1943, in Hawarden, the son of Gilbert and Hazel "Jessie" (Jager) Cain. He was raised in Hawarden.

He married Virginia Jansen on Oct. 15, 1979, in Hawarden. He was employed with Harkness and later with Boyer Ready Mix until retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the Hawarden Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include his mother, Hazel "Jessie" Miniets of Hawarden; his wife; two daughters, Shalea and her husband Preston Flaming of DeSoto, Iowa and Penny Cain at home; and five grandchildren, Ki, Kathryn, Deise, Dominique and Devin Fleming.

He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, John Miniets; and a sister, Carole Van Den Top.

Carol L. Christensen
CLIMBING HILL, Iowa - Carol L. Christensen, 71, of Climbing Hill died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, in McAllen, Texas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Climbing Hill, with Barbara Larson officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Mrs. Christensen was born April 12, 1926, in Sioux City, the daughter of Omer and Argie (Metcalf) Morrison. She graduated from Climbing Hill High School.

She married Gayle Christensen on Aug. 14, 1948, in Sioux City. She was employed as a teller at the Climbing Hill Savings Bank for 20 years, retiring in 1982. The couple lived in Climbing Hill, but wintered in McAllen for the last 12 years.

She was a member of the Hornick, Iowa, American Legion Auxiliary Post 492 and the Meadows Country Club in Moville, Iowa. She enjoyed golfing, gardening and carving.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Brad of Climbing Hill and Craig and his wife, Mary of Fullerton, Neb.; five grandchildren; and five sisters, June Christensen of Omaha, Neb., Marion Crowthers of Sioux City, Violet Ferdig of Omaha, Irene and her husband Joe Roberts of Redlands, Calif. and Lorretta and her husband Kenny Schieuer of Anthon, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Curt; and a brother, Edward Morrison.

Memorials in her name may be directed in care of the family.

Charles D. Crom Jr.
DECATUR, Neb. - Charles Dorman Crom Jr., 60, of Decatur died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur. Burial will be in Tekamah, Neb. Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Gertrude De Jager
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Gertrude De Jager, 86, of Sioux Center died Saturday at the Sioux Center Community Health Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Carmel Reformed Church in Carmel, Iowa. Burial will be in Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be after 8 a.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Rodney R. Smith
HOMER, Neb. - Rodney R. Smith, 73, of Homer died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. Burial will be in at a later date in Omaha Valley Cemetery at Homer. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Lois J. Tracey
LE MARS, Iowa - Lois June Tracey, 61, of Le Mars died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.
Memorial services will be at a later date. Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Tracey was born June 15, 1936, in Merrill, Iowa, the daughter of Omer and Lura (Hattan) Ritchie. She moved with her family to Hornick, Iowa, as a child and graduated from Hornick High School in 1954.

She married Dale Tracey on Nov. 7, 1956, in Hornick. The couple lived in Le Mars for 41 years. She was employed with Lovely Drug for several years and in the dietary department at Floyd Valley Hospital until retiring in 1984.

She was a member of Presbyterian United Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Roger of Le Mars; a sister and her husband, Judy and Larry Ruchti of Le Mars; and three brothers and their wives, Joy and Joyce Ritchie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Darrell and Betty Ritchie of Sioux City and Paul and Ellen Ritchie of Smithland, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
