Robert H. McCord, 84, of Sioux City died Friday at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Christy, Smith, & Hockenberry Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m., which the public is welcome to attend.

Vinal P. Smith
Vinal Perrin Smith, 77, of Sioux City died Thursday at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Christy Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Graceland Park Cemetery in Madison, S.D. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charlene A. Blackstone
Charlene A. Blackstone, of Sioux City died Thursday at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Kenneth B. Fox
Kenneth B. Fox, 41, of South Sioux City, died Friday near Emerson, Neb.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday with a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.

Clarence O. Saline, 81, of Sioux City died Friday; Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Richard J. Walding, 72 of Sioux City died Friday; Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

Dale Benter
WALTHILL, Neb. - Dale George Benter, 92 of Walthill died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998 at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Walthill.

Mr. Benter was born Nov. 1, 1905, the son of Christofer and Lena (Holcher) Benter at Lucas, S.D. He married Lula Belle Overton on June 4, 1927 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Gregory, S.D. The couple farmed and taught school in S.D. In 1933 they moved to the Overton farm west of Walthill. He started the Bambel Store in Walthill in May, 1936. He bought a grocery store in 1940 and sold it in 1941. He started an implement business in 1942. After selling the farm store implement business, he started a custom fertilizer operation which he later sold. He then sold and erected metal buildings.

He was active in Walthill community, serving as president of the school board, mayor, and with the volunteer fire department.

He is survived by a daughter, Bette and her husband, Carl Martin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Robert and his wife, Adell of Greeley Colo., and Richard of Irvine, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; four sisters, Leona, Hulda, Mable, and Dellia; and two brothers, Harvey and Floyd.

Gladys M. Nielsen
PONCA, Neb. - Gladys M. Nielsen, 97, of Ponca died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998 at a Ponca nursing home after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Ponca with Rev. Richard Hinkle officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery in Maskell, Neb. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.

Mrs. Nielsen was born Oct. 13, 1900, in St. James, Neb., the daughter of Guy R. and Zoe (Swetland) Orr. She attended school in Obert, Neb. and was a lifelong resident of Nebraska. The couple farmed in Dixon County, Neb. several years. They then owned and operated the grocery store and locker in Wyot, Neb. He died Sept. 13, 1970, in Madison, S.D.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ponca, the United Methodist Women, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens Group.

Survivors include a son, Doyle and his wife, Dorothe of Le Mars, Iowa; four daughters, Daryle Bensen of Ponca, Darlene Burton of Chatworth, Calif. Marilyn Newman of Primghar, Iowa, and Janice White of Palymar, Va.; a brother, Ray Orr of Venture, Calif.; three sisters, Jessie Ehle of Bellflower, Calif., Violet Nelson of Omaha, Neb., Georgia Klienberg of South Sioux City; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Anderson; a brother Burch Orr; three sisters, Deda Crandal, Opal Moore, and Edna Klienberg; a grandson; and a great granddaughter.

Elsa Johnson
MANCHESTER, Iowa - Elsa Johnson, 101, of Manchester, formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, January 16, 1998, after an extended illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 27, 1896 in Svalov, Sweden. She was raised and educated there. She moved to the United States at the age of 21. She married F. Edwin Johnson on Feb. 19, 1921, in Sioux City. The couple resided in Sioux City until 1958 when they retired and moved to Arizona. He died Aug. 18, 1977. She then moved to Manchester. In 1979 she entered a care center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1988, she entered the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.

Survivors include two sons, D. William "Bill" and his wife Maxine of Manchester, and Robert and his wife Ann of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Florence and her husband, Fred Montrose of Anaheim, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Frank P., and George L. in infancy; three brothers; and five sisters.

Dennis E. Foster
MARSHALL, Wis. - Dennis E. Foster, 57, of Marshall, formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998 at a Madison, Wis. hospital.
A family memorial service will be held today at Hart-Vick Funeral Home in Marshall with Rev. Paul Anderson officiating. A memorial service will also be held Monday at Northwestern United Methodist Church in Mellette, S.D.

Mr. Foster was born Sept. 22, 1940 in Sioux City, the son of Floyd and Evelyn (Burt) Foster. He was raised in Sioux City. He married Mary Salzman on Dec. 18, 1965. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. He had lived in Mellette, S.D. and lived in Marshall since June 1, 1997.

He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Posts in South Dakota and was a life member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Tami Cason of Sioux City; one son, Dennis of Mellette; two grandsons, Jeremy and Jason Cason of Sioux City; one great granddaughter; and aunts and uncles.

Memorials can go to the American Heart Association.

Myrtle Saeger
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa - Myrtle Saeger, 87, of Rock Rapids died Friday at Rock Rapids Health Care.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Carney McAmis
MISSION, Texas - Carney McAmis, 84, of Mission, formerly of Sutherland, Iowa died Tuesday in Mission.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland. Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Monday with the family present at Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland.

Bert Brock
EVERLY, Iowa - Bert Brock, 76, of Everly died Thursday at home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Terrill, Iowa with military and graveside services at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be at 2:30 p.m. today with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Frances Meyer
MENOMINEE, Neb. - Frances Mary Meyer, 91, of Menominee, Neb. died Friday at Hartington Nursing Center, Hartington, Neb.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday with a 2 p.m. rosary at Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. There will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church and visitation at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Phyllis J. Wright
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - Phyllis J. Wright, 76, of Grand Island, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, died Thursday at the St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Roger Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Edward Schnurr
HOSPERS, Iowa - Edward Schnurr, 76, of Hospers died Thursday at Orange City Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday with a parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Church in Hospers.

Lucile M. Zenor
LAWTON, Iowa - Lucille M. Zenor, 91, of Lawton died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Peters officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Friday.

Mrs. Zenor was born June 30, 1906, near Lawton, the daughter of Frank and Martha (Stebner) Hefner.

She married Chester E. Zenor on Dec. 9, 1933, in Dakota City. He died July 19, 1983.

She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, the Ladies Aid Society and the Variety Club.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Don and Ramonde of Lawton; a daughter, Juella Zenor of Tacoma, Wash.; three grandchildren, Barbra Bowman, Martin and Michael Zenor; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Hefner of Sioux City.

Memorials in her name may be directed to Community Presbyterain Church.
