Cornelius "C.T." Schmitt, 59, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Thursday.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Jerry Lee Borschuk
Jerry Lee Borschuk, 64, of Sioux City died Friday at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Monday with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Genevieve Louise Hanna
Genevieve Louise "Gen" Hanna, 86, of Sioux City died Friday at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Evangelical Free Church.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Sunday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Phyllis Platt
Phyllis Platt, Sioux City, died Thursday at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Althemous Hardgraves
Althemous "Arkie" M. Hardgraves, 85, of Sioux City died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hardgraves was born March 22, 1913 to Altie and Arnetta (Hogan) Hardgraves in Coal Hill, Arkansas. He was employed with Needham Packing Company for 27 years retiring in 1969. He has also been employed with Sioux Foundry. He married Dottie J. Noel on Oct. 31, 1954 in Dakota City, Neb.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in South Sioux City and the AFL-CIO union.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Geames L. Ivory, Namen L. Ivory and Melvin T. Hardgraves all of Sioux City, James L. Ivory of Fayetteville, N.C.; one daughter, Robbie Jackson of Sioux City; 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; two brothers, Hosie Hogan and Tony Hogan, both of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Christine Irvin and Irene Butler, also of Wichita.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbie L. Pullian.

Florence Bennington, 98, of Sioux City, died Friday; Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Spc. Jeremy Ray Combs, 24, of Sioux City, died Sunday; Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Lily Caroline Nichtern
SUTHERLAND, Iowa - Lily Caroline Nichtern, 100, of Sutherland died Friday at the Villa Nursing Home in Cherokee, Iowa.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran church of Sutherland.

Burial will be in Waterman Cemetery of Sutherland. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Warner Funeral Home of Sutherland is in charge of arrangements.

Edwin F. Walling
ALEXANDER, Ark. - Edwin F. Walling, 80, formerly of Anthon, Iowa, died Thursday in Alexander at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon. Burial will be in Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday with a Vigil Wake service at 7 p.m. followed by the Rosary. The Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon has charge of arrangements.

Mable Knoell
DIXON, Neb. - Mable Knoell, 92, of Dixon died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at Providence Medical Center of Wayne, Neb.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dixon United Methodist Church in Dixon. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery at Concord, Neb. Visitation will be at 12 noon until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Schumacher Funeral Home in Laurel, Neb.

Mrs. Knoell was born April 8, 1906 to Clarence and Bell (Neal) Fitch at Thurston, Neb. She graduated from Allen High School. She married Ernest Knoell on June 23, 1926 at Elk Point, S.D., and made their home near Dixon where they lived until 1995 when they moved to Laurel. Mrs. Knoell worked at Waldbaums Plant in Wakefield, Neb. from 1952 to 1971. She then opened a ceramic chop, "Mable's Ceramics," in her home.

She was a member of the Dixon United Methodist Church, where she received her fifty year pin, was a charter member of the United Methodist Women, charter member of Best Ever Club and a member of the Calorie Counters Club. She enjoyed ceramics, oil painting, crocheting, knitting and cake decorating.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Bonnie June Knoell of Audubon, Iowa, and Boyd and Lois Knoell of Omaha; three daughters and four sons-in-law, Bonnie Mae and Carol Hirchert of Dixon, Melva and Earl Pinkelman of Hartington, Neb. Marlene and Melfred "Bud" Petersen of Hinton, Iowa, and Gerald Stolze of South Sioux City; 27 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Ray and LaVell Fitch of Argonia, Kansas, and Alice Fitch of Greenleaf, Idaho; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, JoEllen Stolze, one grandson, two brothers and one sister.

Frank Robert Conklin, Jr.
TEKAMAH, Neb. - Frank Robert Conklin, Jr., 69, Tekamah, died Thursday at the Tekamah Health and Rehab Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Burial will be in the Tekamah Cemetery with military graveside rites by the V.F.W. Post #3304 and the American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah and Monday one hour before the service at the church. Masonic Services will be conducted by Masonic Lodge No. 31, A.F. and A.M. at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Joseph Henry Nacke
Joseph Henry Nacke, 89, Sioux City, formerly of Remsen, Iowa,
died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. The Moeller Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nacke was born March 19, 1909, in rural Remsen, to George and Anna (Recker) Nacke. He attended St. Mary's School in Remsen. He married Maude Barlow on Nov. 26, 1931. He farmed near Remsen, retiring in 1960, and spent part time in McAllen, Tex. and part time in Remsen. After Mrs. Nacke died, he moved to Sioux City.

Survivors include a son, James Lee Nacke of Alton, Iowa; a daughter, Sister Mary Ann Nacke of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Fred and Agnes of Remsen; four grandsons, Scott Nacke, David Nacke, Richard J. Nacke II and Timothy Nacke; two grandaughters, Mrs. David (Terri) Siwinske and Mrs. Simon (Michele) Dobson; one great grandaughter.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard J. Nacke; four bothers, Frank, Anthony, Henry and George; six sisters, Sister Mary Georgia Mary O.S.B., Sister Mary Columba (Ann) O.S.B., Mrs. Joe (Rose) Kestel, Mrs. Grant (Frances) Schaffer, Mrs. Frank (Elizabeth) Kass and Mrs. Ed (Cecelia) Vandermark.

Sophia K. Auchstetter
HOSPERS, Iowa - Sophia K. Auchstetter, 91, Hospers, died Friday, July 10, 1998, following a lengthy illness at Heartland Care Center of Marcus, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 1998, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Hospers with the Rev. James Tigges of Alton, Iowa, and the Rev. Richard Ries of Le Mars, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Anthony's Church in Hospers. There will be a parish rosary at 4 p.m., a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Auchstetter was born April 16, 1907, in rural Hospers to Lewis and Mary (Remacle) Jungers. She was raised in the Hospers area and graduated from St. Anthony's grade school. She married Charles A. Auchstetter June 22, 1931 at St. Anthony's. The couple farmed near Hospers until retiring Jan. of 1975. They moved into Hospers in August 1975. She had been a resident of Heartland Care Center in Marcus since Aug. 1, 1995.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and church Guild and Catholic Daughters of America of Sheldon, Iowa. She belonged to several card clubs and enjoyed foreign travel with her husband.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and their husbands, Pauline and Paul J. Von Arb of Granville, Iowa, and Roberta and Gordon Kokenge of Clarinda, Iowa; four grandchildren; four great-grandaughters; two sisters, Marie and her husband Michael Pohlen of Sun City, Ariz., and Marcella Hogan of St. Louis, Mo.

She was preceded in death by a son, Emmet, at birth; a sister, Adeline Jungers, and a brother-in-law, Robert Hogan.

Pallbearers will be Bernard, Dan, Fred, Tim, Mike and Terry Jungers.
