Jennie Ann Moon, 75, of Sioux City died Monday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, with a parish vigil service at 8 p.m., at Berkemier Funeral Home.
LeRoy J. Held
LeRoy John Held, 67, of Sioux City died Monday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.
Harold C. Rembe
Harold C. Rembe, 82, of Sioux City died Monday at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Darrell N. Fulton
Darrell N. Fulton, 51, of Huber Heights, Ohio, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, July 13, 1998, at his residence of an apparent heart attack.
Services were held Friday, July 17, at Aldergate Methodist Church in Huber Heights, the Rev. David Stevens and the Rev. Ken Rebok officiated. Burial was in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Marker and Heller Funeral Home of Huber Heights.
Mr. Fulton was born Nov. 11, 1947, in Urbana, Ill., the son of Arthur N. and Mabel R. Fulton. He moved with his family to Sioux City in 1953. He graduated from East High School in 1965, and the University of Iowa in 1968. He entered the U.S. Air Force, where he received his masters degree from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology and his PhD in business management from the University of Pennsylvania, in 1975.
He was employed as vice president of information systems for Dean and Associates of Dayton, Ohio. He was a certified Little League umpire and was on the staff of umpires for the regional Little League tournaments.
He was a member of Aldergate Methodist Church, where he was the finance director, Dayton Rotary, American League, a former commissioner of Huber Heights Little League and director of umpires for the league.
Survivors include his father of Sioux City; his former wife, Janet Fulton of Huber Heights; three sons, Michael and his wife, Carrie S., of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kevin J. of Columbus, Ohio, and Steven L. of Huber Heights; and two brothers, Jeffrey L. of Sioux City and Kerry J. of Overland Park, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Lara L. Taggart
Lara Leone Taggart, 7, of South Sioux City died Sunday, July 19, 1998, from accidental drowning near Onawa, Iowa.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Greenwood, associate pastor of Tri State Asssembly of God in North Sioux City, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 1 to 3 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Lara was born Oct. 27, 1990, in Scott City, Kan., the daughter of Scott W. and Allison K. (Spray) Taggart. She was an elementary student at Cardinal Elementary School in South Sioux City.
She was a member of Tri State Assembly of God, Girls Club Incorporated and was active in gymnastics.
Survivors include her parents of South Sioux City; a brother, Devon of South Sioux City; maternal grandparents, Linda and Robert McDaniel of South Sioux City and Frank Spray of Sioux City; maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Meier of Anthon, Iowa; paternal grandparents, William Taggart of Chandler, Ariz. and Marcia Thompson of Lancaster, Calif.; three uncles and two cousins.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Wooten, Roberto Jimenez, John Ernst and Robert McDaniel.
DeLoss H. Monlux
DeLoss H. Monlux, 84, of Sioux City died Monday, July 20, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Blanchard, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Monlux was born July 30, 1913, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the son of Ben and Edith Monlux. He moved with his family to Sioux City as a child and graduated from Central High School in 1932.
He married Margaret Budd on Nov. 22, 1936, in Sioux City. He owned and operated the Monlux DX Station for about 30 years, retiring in 1977. He then worked part time for Williams Appliance for 14 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church and served on the graduation committee for Central High School for many years. He was an avid baseball fan.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Harold and Carol of Tulsa, Okla., and Raymond and Penny of Sioux City; a daughter, Marilyn Monlux of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Duane, Donald and Bob; and a grandson, Tim Barber.
Pallbearers will be Harold Monlux, Terry Smith, Bo Barber, Tammy Monlux, Jim Tague and Raymond Hardy.
Alberta J. VonderLieth
Alberta J. "Bert" VonderLieth, 67, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Sunday, July 19, 1998, at her residence.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill G. Muller, of Goodwill Industries, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. VonderLieth was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Sioux City, the daughter of Albert and Opal (Hook) Gardner.
She married Henry E. VonderLieth in 1947, in Sioux City. The couple later divorced. She was employed as a certified aid with Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for over 30 years.
She was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include three sons, Van "Butch" and his wife, Coleene, of Westfield, Iowa, Henry "Michael" and Kenneth and his wife, Donna, all of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Paula and Sonny Lantry of Cherry Valley, Calif., and Cheryl and Bryon Anderson of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leroy and Henry Gardner; and a granddaughter, Heather VonderLieth.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Bryon E. and Jacob Anderson, Korey C., Kendra L. and Vance VonderLieth and Penny Lantry.
Richard Witkowski
Richard Witkowski, 49, of Sioux City died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in Valentine, Neb.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Greving, of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Witkowski was born Oct. 16, 1948, in Sioux City, the son of Stanislaw and Stephania (Wojkowski) Witkowski. He attended Grant Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson Junior High School and graduated from Central High School in 1967. He served in the Armed Forces from 1968 to 1970, and was stationed in Korea.
He married Vicki Shafer on May 5, 1987, in Las Vegas. He had been employed with Hagen Texaco, Raskin Packing, John Witkowski Construction, and was presently self-employed. He also owned and maintained several rental houses in the Sioux City area.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; a daughter and her husband, Angie and Tyler Rice of North Sioux City; two sons, Travis and Jake Ferdig, both of Sioux City; two brothers, Stan and his wife, Carolyn, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John and his special friend, Nancy Peck, of Sioux City; three sisters, Helen and her huband, John Renner, Chris and her husband, Al Huisman, and Sandy Stowe and her special friend, Dave Fuller, all of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Alyssa Gries and Katelyn Rice; and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Greiner, Jim Shumansky, Bill Hopp, Lowell Mason, Tyler Rice and James Stewart.

Dorothy C. Brent
Dorothy C. Brent, 79, of Sioux City died Sunday, July 19, 1998, in Sioux City following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William H. Steward officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8:30 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brent was born May 26, 1919, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Hans Christian and Caroline Julianna (Jacobsen) Gosch. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1936.
She married Donald Eugene Brent on Feb. 16, 1937, in Leeds, Iowa. He died Jan. 7, 1988.
The couple farmed in various Northwest Iowa areas. They lived in the Havelock, Iowa, area for 13 years and in the Pocahontas, Iowa, area for 39 years, before returning to the Sioux City area in 1993.
She graduated from Burnel Beauty School in Fort Dodge, Iowa, in 1965. She owned and operated Brent's Beauty Salon in Pocahontas for 18 years. She also sold Wisconsin Homes from 1984 to 1993.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Women Writers, all in Pocahontas.
Survivors include four sons and their wives, Donald E. Jr. and Suzanne of Fort Morgan, Colo., Craig and Judy of Lyons, Colo., Barry and Sue of Le Mars, Iowa, and Rick and Sally of Loveland, Colo.; three daughters and their husbands, Cleo and Roger Hansen of Sioux City, Julie and Arvin Nelson of Sergeant Bluff and Diann and Jim Hotovec of Marshall, Minn.; a brother, Ed Gosch of Mapleton; three sisters-in-law, Hallie and her husband, Clifford Cook, of Havelock, Ruby Areman and Dorothy Philip, both of Sergeant Bluff; 27 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Randy, Brian and Chad Brent, Eric Hansen, Hans Nelson, Mathew Hotovec and Kari Swift.

AKRON, Iowa - Andrew F. Jurgensen, 92, of Akron, formerly of Alcester, S.D., died Tuesday at the Akron Care Center following a lengthy illness.

SIBLEY, Iowa - Lillian Heinz, 90, of Sibley, formerly of Hanley Falls, Minn., died Saturday at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Christ United Presbyterian Church in Marshall, Minn. Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Walton, Roste and Vogel Funeral Home of Sibley.

HARTLEY, Iowa - Florence Maurstad, 81, of Golden, Colo., formerly of Hartley, died Monday at the Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hartley. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Sanborn, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today, wiht the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the Warner Funeral Home in Hartley.

HAWARDEN, Iowa - Emmer Lieske, 73, of Hawarden died Monday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Arlene R. Rude
UTE, Iowa - Arlene Ruth Rude, 73, of Ute died suddenly Sunday, July 19, 1998, at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, with the Rev. Edgar Bode officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.
Mrs. Rude was born Nov. 14, 1924, in Ute, the daughter of Carl and Dorothea (Timm) Jahn. She attended parochial school through the eighth grade and graduated from Ute High School in 1942.
She married Wilbur Rude on June 1, 1944, in Ute. She taught rural school for three years and public elementary school in Dunlap and Charter Oak, Iowa, for 25 years, in remedial reading. She graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City in 1975. She retired in 1989.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Paul's LWML and Friends of the Library. She taught Sunday School, confirmation classes and was a Boy Scout leader.
Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, Ronald and Cinda of Mapleton, Iowa, and Roger and Theresa of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters and their husbands, Rita and Richard Smook of Luverne, Minn., and Rose and Marvin Blankenship of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Walter and Edna Jahn of Ute and Ervin and Dorothy Jahn of Gillete, Wyo.; a sister and her husband, Erma and Louis Sander of Ute; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Herbert Jahn; a sister, Lydia Jahn; a daughter, Karen Arlene; and a son, Russell Dean.
