WAKEFIELD, Neb. - H.J. "Buck" Addink, 69, of Grand Island, Neb., formerly of Wakefield and Sioux Center, Iowa, died Saturday at the St. Francis Skilled Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bressler-Humlicek Funeral Home in Wakefield. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. L.G. "Skinny' Cliff
KINGSLEY, Iowa - Laurel G. "Skinny" Cliff, 77, of rural Kingsley died Friday, July 24, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Daniel Anderson of Union Township Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Earnest and Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mr. Cliff was born Feb. 21, 1921, in rural Kingsley, the son of James and Jennie (Pratt) Cliff. He graduated from Union Township Consoldidated School in rural Le Mars, Iowa, in 1939. He had worked with livestock and grain farming until 1988. He had been on kidney dialysis since December 1988. He entered The Abby Care Center, Le Mars, in October 1992.

He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Sioux City and affiliated with Union Township Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a sister, Cherry Cliff of Kingsley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Aileen Munig; and a brother-in-law, Ben Munig.

Alice Wiersma
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Alice Wiersma, 92, of Orange City died Saturday at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley, Iowa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Florence Deckard, 76, of Orange City died Friday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Duane A. Busch
AKRON, Iowa - Duane A. Busch, 59, of rural Akron died Friday, July 24, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hawarden, Iowa, with the Rev. LeRoy Seuntjens officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Porter-Dow Funeral Home of Hawarden.

Mr. Busch was born Oct. 4, 1938, near Chatsworth, Iowa, the son of Walter and Clara (Schumacher) Busch Sr.

He married Maureen Peterson on Nov. 22, 1958, in Akron. He was employed at Kanes Dressed Beef and later at Hawarden of Iowa Beef Packers and Sioux Fertilizer. He had been employed with Iowa Lamb Corp. in Hawarden since January 1983.

He was a member of Hawarden Saddle Club for many years. He enjoyed horses, golfing and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Steve and Shelly of Hawarden; three daughters, Diane and her husband, Randy Otis, of Dahlonega, Ga., Debbie and her husband, Dan Baker, of Ireton, Iowa, and Rhonda Briggs of Hawarden; his mother of Alcester, S.D.; a brother, Walter Jr. of Hawarden; two sisters and their husbands, Kathleen and Larry Goodmanson of Canby, Minn., and Mary Lou and Denny Maxwell of Farmers City, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Annie, Bobbi, Randy D., Eric, Brandon, Tanner and Andy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Dennis.

HUDSON, S.D. - Raymond Nitz, 86, of Hudson died Sunday at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hudson Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery. Visitation will be today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Hudson.

VERMILLION, S.D. - Mildred J. Anderson, 93, of Vermillion died Saturday at the Dakota Care Center in Vermillion.

WORTHING, S.D. - James Matthew Wegehaupt, 17 month-old son of Matthew and Lorenda Wegehaupt of Worthing, died Saturday at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Vernon G. White
PONCA, Neb. - Vernon Gary White, 59, of Ponca died Friday, July 24, 1998, at his residence following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, with the Rev. John Plowman officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery, rural Allen, Neb. Visiation will be 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Visitation with the family present will resume at 6:30 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church.

Mr. White was born Sept. 27, 1938, in Allen, the son of Vernon and LeVerna (Geiger) White. He graduated from Allen High School in 1957.

He married Leta Saunders on April 13, 1958, in Allen. He was employed as a truck driver for many years, the last nine years with Dennis Supply Company in Sioux City. The couple had lived in Sioux City until 1993, when they moved to Ponca.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Ponca Rodeo Association, Golden Spurs Saddle Club of Allen and several other saddle clubs. He enjoyed the outdoors and horses.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Randal V. and Betty of Sheldon, Iowa, and Russell J. and Julia of Norfolk, Neb.; two sisters, Karen and her husband, Monte Taylor of Omaha, Neb., and Janet Krambeck of Gretna, Neb.; and three grandchildren, Mandy Marie, Clarissa Kay and Travis James.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Vernon Gary II.

KINGSLEY, Iowa - Arthur L. "Bode" Gernhart, 73, of Kingsley died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rock Branch United Methodist Church, rural Correctionville, Iowa. Burial will be in Rock Branch Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Edith L. Calvert
NEWCASTLE, Neb. - Edith L. Calvert, 102, formerly of Newcastle died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at the Elm Health Care Center in Ponca, Neb.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Congregational United Church of Christ in Newcastle, with the Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Burial will be in Newcastle Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 7:30 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.

Mrs. Calvert was born May 19, 1896, in Newcastle, the daughter of Erich and Cora (Cook) Reichardt.

She married Harry Calvert on March 22, 1919, in Sioux City. The couple lived in Newcastle. He died June 5, 1968.

She was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ and the Cemetery Guild.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Lyle and Charlotte of Ponca and Glen and Mary Lou of Sioux City; three daughters, Rosemarie Flom of Newcastle, Eldene and her husband, John L. Kneifl, of LaMirada, Calif., and Janet K. Skinner of Tacoma, Wash.; 23 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Ray; a sister, Margaret; and two brothers, John and Vet.

Marcus E. Story
Marcus Edward Story, 18, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Waterloo. Burial will be in Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service/West Ridgeway in Waterloo.

Marcus was born July 13, 1980, in Waterloo, the son of George and Maralene (Huebsch) Story. He graduated from West High School, Waterloo, in 1998. He was employed with Jim Lind Standard in Waterloo for one and a half years.

Survivors include his parents of Waterloo; two brothers, Garner and Carson Story, both at home; maternal grandfather, Alfred Hurbsch of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Ellen Story of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Erika Story; and maternal grandmother, Mary Huebsch.

A memorial fund will be established at a later date.

Mary J. Johnston
Mary Jane Johnston, 81, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Mrs. Johnston was born May 26, 1917, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of William and Anna Jolce. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1934.

She married Russell Johnston. The couple made their home in Sioux City.

She was a beautician.

She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Richard and his wife, Judith, of Modesto, Calif., and Ronald of St. Joseph, Mo.; four granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Max Jolce.

Floyd L. Shroll
Floyd L. "PeeWee" Shroll, 88, of Sioux City, died Friday, July 24, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Terry D. Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mr. Shroll was born Aug. 31, 1909, in Tyndall, S.D., the son of Louis and Susie (Dempster) Shroll. He graduated from Tyndall High School and attended Southern State College in Springfield, S.D.

He married Ella C. Lindgren Feb. 1, 1936, in Sioux City. She died June 5, 1998.

He was employed as an auto mechanic for 17 years with Studebaker dealers and 14 years with Lincoln-Mercury and other various automobile dealerships. He retired Sept 1, 1974, from Tri-State American.

He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and a lifetime member of the Sioux City Moose Lodge. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he served on the trustee board and several committees and served several terms as head usher.

He enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo and organ and had performed with various bands in the area. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Surivors include a son and his wife, Dean A. and Sandra Shroll of Sergeant Bluff; two daughters and their husbands, Susan L. and Thomas Farrell of Sergeant Bluff and Connie M. and Robert Stoner of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lyle "Buster" Shrol, and a sister, Verna Christopherson.

Pallbearers will be LeRoy Deuhr, Robert Mohan, Robert VanderZee, Jim Dye, Claude Head and Derald Newton.

John Marshall Jr.
John Marshall Jr., 40, of Galliano, La., formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, July 17, 1998, in a oil rig accident in the Gulf of Mexico.
Services were held Thursday, July 23, in Galliano. Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Riverside Park, Shelter 2, in Sioux City.

Mr. Marshall was born Aug. 3, 1957, the son of John and Fern Marshall Sr.

He was a native of Sioux City and moved to Galliano 20 years ago. He was employed on oil rigs most of those 20 years.

Survivors include his children, Janai, John Paul and Jeremy James; his mother and stepfather, Fern and Marc Doren; and three sisters, Tina and her husband, Rex LaForce, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tammy Williams of Sioux City and Teresa and her husband, Randy Anderson, of Osinke, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mark M. Harper
Mark McDonald Harper, 43, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, following heart surgery.
Services are pending in California, and Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C.

Mr. Harper was born Sept. 21, 1955, in Sioux City, the son of D.M. and Jeanne (Momsen) Harper. He graduated from Central High School and the University of South Dakota.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Special Forces with the 82nd Airborne Division. For many years he was the commander of the scuba team. He served in Alaska, Europe, South and Central America and Africa, attaining the rank of major.

He graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor of science nursing degree. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, attaining the rank of captain.

He was employed as a registered nurse for the state of California.

He was a member of the Sioux City Underwater Recovery Squad and attained the highest rank for cadets in the Civil Air Patrol. He was a pilot and an expert marksman, participating in numerous competitions.

He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; three daughters, Jackie of Virginia and Janine and Alexis, both of California; two brothers, John of Sioux City and Scott of Hawaii; his father and stepmother, Deborah Hanson; two aunts; an uncle; and a cousin.

He was preceded in death by his mother and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Charlotte R. Burrows
Charlotte Rita Burrows, 72, of Sioux City died Monday at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural service at 7 p.m., all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Tony F. Rickwa
Tony F. Rickwa, 82, of Sioux City died Sunday, July 26, 1998, in Sioux City.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Greving of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Rickwa was born June 5, 1916, in Sioux City, the son of Stanley and Tillie (Tokarczyk) Rickwa. He attended Sioux City schools.

He served in the Armed Forces during World War II from 1941 to 1945.

He married Joyce Rowley on Dec. 31, 1948, in Elk Point, S.D.

He was employed with Armour Packing Plant until it closed. He then owned and operated several restaurants in Sioux City. He also bartended at the Dodge Inn.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the AFL-CIO.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Stella and Gary Switzer and JoAnn and Mike Wilcok, all of Sioux City; seven granddaughters, Heather McMillin, Patt Kapaun, Julie Koetters, Jill Mohr, Lisa Wilcok, Toni Bennett and Stephanie Switzer; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, John G.; two brothers, Joe and John; and a sister, Stella Rickwa.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

John C. Larson
John C. Larson, 54, of Sioux City died suddenly Monday, July 27, 1998, in Dakota City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William H. Steward officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mr. Larson was born Dec. 4, 1943, in Garner, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Marjorie (Bachman) Larson.

He moved from Garner to Ventura, Iowa, with his family. He was raised in Ventura and attended school there. He had lived in several Iowa towns.

He married Marilyn K. Engeltjes on Dec. 27, 1969, in Primghar, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City 24 years ago.

He was employed as a food service manager for colleges until 20 years ago, when he began working with IBP.

He was a member of United Methodist Church and Local 222, United Food and Commerical Workers Union.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Todd of Sioux City; two daughters, Sonja and her husband, Mark Lubben, and Patty Larson, all of Sioux City; two grandchildren, John and Jennifer; and four brothers, Cecil and his wife, Karen, of Sioux City, Keith of Cherokee, Iowa, Gerald and his wife, Ann, of Benton, Ark., and Wayne and his wife, Sally, of Tacoma, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Russell.

Pearl A. Rasmussen
Pearl A. Rasmussen, of North Sioux City died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riverside United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Berkemier Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rasmussen was born July 13, 1919, in Harris, Mo., the daughter of William and Julia (Wendt) Michael. She was raised and attended school in Harris. She moved to Fairmont, Minn., when she was 18.

She was married to Ervin Pietan from 1937 to 1947. She married Arnold Rasmussen on Sept. 5, 1950, in Dolliver, Iowa. The couple farmed in Dolliver for several years before moving to Fairmont. They moved to Sioux City in 1964, then to North Sioux City in 1992.

She was a member of North Sioux City Senior Citizens. She was a homemaker and a writer of poetry and short stories. She enjoyed sewing and collecting antiques.

Survivors include her husband; five sons and their wives, Jerry and Mary Pietan of Jacksonville, Fla., Jim and Jo Pietan of Eagle Lake, Minn., Mike and Pam Pietan of Mankato, Minn., Pat and Karen Rasmussen of North Mankato, Minn., and Steve and Elaine Rasmussen of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Julie and Jake Theisen of Sioux City; two sisters, Pene Johnson of Princeton, Mo., and Madge Naas of Kansas City, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Kelly and Mike Pietan, Jessica Benson, Stacie Rasmussen, Sara Raygor and Katie Theisen.

Patricia E. Steely
Patricia E. Steely, 42, of South Sioux City died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital of injuries suffered in an automobile/pedestrian accident.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Riverside Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Elk Point Cemetery, Elk Point, S.D. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Berkemier Funeral Home.

Lee J. Orr
LEXINGTON, Neb. - Lee Jay Orr, 33, of Lexington died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, in Lexington in a drowning accident.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today at Ben Stalp Funeral Home in West Point, Neb., with Vicar Erik Heskin officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be prior to the service today at the funeral home.

Mr. Orr was born Dec. 22, 1964, in Oakland, Neb. He attended school in Lexington.

He was employed in the construction business in Lexington.

He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington.

Survivors include his parents, Raymond and Carol (Renneker) Orr of West Point and Robert Ford of Fort Meyers, Fla.; four brothers, Tim and his special friend, Iona Lutt, of Alma, Neb., Terry of Sioux City, Kelvin and his wife, Tammy, of Marcus, Iowa, and Lyle and his wife, Michaela, of Casper, Wyo.; three sisters, Cheryl and her husband, Lee Phouthavong, of Grand Island, Neb., Janine and her husband, Bruce Kreikemeier, of Hooper, Neb., and Marlene Seaton of Sioux City; maternal grandparents, Clifton and Eileen Renneker of Anthon, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Wayne; and paternal grandparents, Roy and Daisy Orr.

Mrs. Wiersma was born Aug. 27, 1905, in Orange City, the daughter of William and Reka (Beltman) Geurink. She was raised in Orange City.

She married Dewey Wiersma on July 19, 1928, in Orange City. The couple made their home in Orange City. He died June 4, 1973, in Orange City.

She entered Valley Manor in Rock Valley, in March 1997.

She was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church and Harmony Circle of the church.

Survivors include four sons, Wilbur and his wife, Mary, of Orange City, Ralph and his wife, Emilie, of Englewood, Colo., Glenn and his wife, Joyce, of Odessa, Texas, and Lee of Rock Valley; 10 grandchildren, Ruth, Paul, Joyce, Bruce, Dean, Patti, David, Timothy, Susan and Beth; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dena Den Hartog, Jennie Aberson and Wilmina Engbers, and three brothers, Henry, Evert and Gerrit Geurink.

GRANVILLE, Iowa - Claude Hemmen, 79, of Granville died Sunday, July 26, 1998, at Orange City Hospital and Clinic in Orange City, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville, with Monsignor Kenneth Seifried officaiting. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, Iowa.

Mr. Hemmen was born Aug. 28, 1918, in rural Granville, the son of Frank and Mary (Engeldinger) Hemmen. He was raised in Granville and attended rural school.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the European Theater. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals.

Following his discharge, his was employed with the Gambles Store in Springfield, Minn. In 1950, he moved to the Granville area and farmed with his brother. He retired and moved into Granville in 1981.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5347 of Granville and American Legion Post 95 of Paullina, Iowa.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, Mark and Wilfred of Spencer, Mass.; a sister and her husband, Lucille and Clarence Zuhlsdorf of Bird Island, Minn.; six half brothers, Gerald and his wife, Thelma, of Ocala, Fla., Marcel and his wife, Rosa, of Mesa, Ariz., Joseph and his wife, Judy, of White, S.D., Frank Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn., Michael of Owatonna, Minn., and John and his wife, Sharon, of Green Bay, Wis.; a half sister, JoAnn Hemmen of New Mexico; four sisters-in-law, Armella Hemmen of Granville, Isabelle and Mary Hemmen, both of Worthington, Minn., and Adeline Hemmen of Kentuckey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leo, Edmund and Arnold; an infant sister, Viola; and two half brothers, Robert and Derald.

Pallbearers will be Jim Budden, Bob Degen, Linus Goebel, Todd Joanning, Phil Nacke and Paul Von Arb.

Arthur L. Gernhart
KINGSLEY, Iowa - Arthur L. "Bode" Gernhart, 73, of Kingsley died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rock Branch United Methodist Church, rural Correctionville, Iowa, with the Rev. Arnold Herbst officiating. Burial will be in Rock Branch Fairfield Cemetery, with Masonic services conducted by Cosmos Lodge 470 A.F.&A.M. of Kingsley. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mr. Gernhart was born Oct. 26, 1924, in rural Lawton, Iowa, the son of Leon and Margaret (Luscombe) Gernhart. He graduated from Kingsley High School and attended Iowa State College.

He married Ruby Bohle on Oct. 11, 1947, in Kingsley.

He farmed in the Kingsley area for many years.

He was a member of Rock Branch United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the board for many years. He served on the Pierson Elevator board for six years and was president of the board for one year. He became a Mason in 1960 and was a 32nd degree Mason of the Sioux City Scottish Rite Consistory and a past master of Cosmos Lodge A.F &A.M. of Kingsley.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Alan and Charlotte of Kingsley and Kelly and Cindi of Raymore, Mo.; three daughters, Linda and her husband, Lyle Fikse, of Correctionville, Joy and her husband, Dennis Beaver, of Hinton, Iowa, and Diane Wheeler of Kingsley; 11 grandchildren, Chad Fikse, Stephan, Jessica and Rebecca Wheeler, Landon and Brooke Beaver, Janelle (Fikse) Brouwer and Ellie, Gina, Caroline and Julia Gernhart; a brother and his wife, Bud and Margaret of Kingsley; a sister and her husband, LaVone and Earl Nugent of Kingsley; and two stepsisters, Joyce Harrison of Kingsley and Janet and her husband, Jim McKibbin, of Ida Grove, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Mildred Gernhart Curley; a brother, Ramon; and his parents-in-law, Fritz and Minnie Bohle.

Dustin S. Nitzschke
HORNICK, Iowa - Dustin S. Nitzschke, 17, of Hornick died Sunday, July 26, 1998, in rural Hinton, Iowa, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, Iowa, with the Rev. Bruce Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville, Iowa.

Dustin was born Jan. 8, 1981, in Sioux City. He was raised in the Lawton area, where he attended Lawton-Bronson School.

He moved to Hornick 1 years ago and attended Westwood High School in Sloan, Iowa. He would have been a senior this fall.

He was employed with Concrete Complete in Lawton.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the Bow and Arrow Club and participated in track and field at high school. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and trapping.

Survivors include his father and his special friend, Stuart and Karen of Hornick; his mother and stepfather, Marlene (Schweitzberger) and Dale Hughes of Lawton; a sister, Heidi Nitzschke of Lawton; paternal grandparents, Andrew and DeLoris Nitzschke of Lawton; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Minnetta Schweitzberger of Kingsley, Iowa; maternal great-grandmother, Lillian Olson of Lawton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Robert L. Marshall
HAWARDEN, Iowa - Robert L. Marshall, 72, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Hawarden, died Monday, July 27, 1998, at The Abbey in Le Mars.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden, with the Rev. Dean Shelly of United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Marshall was born Nov. 25, 1925, Union County in South Dakota, the son of Chester and Sarah (Henry) Marshall.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948 in Korea and Japan.

He married Ruby Diercksen on April 27, 1952, in Hawarden. The couple farmed on the family farm until moving into Hawarden in 1956. He was employed at several gas stations and then as a mechanic at McCarthy Implement. He retired in 1969. He entered The Abbey in December 1988.

He was a member of United Methodist Church and the America Legion in Le Mars.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, James and Leslie of Brawley, Calif., Reed and Julie of Cleghorn, Iowa, and Bart and Lorraine of Hawarden; a daughter, Barbara DeVries of Hawarden; a brother and his wife, Russell and Edna of Ireton, Iowa; a sister, Hilda Cain of Sioux City; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Jean; five brothers, Roy, Sam, Milton, John and Herbert; and two sisters, Florence Storrs and Beulah McKee.

ANTHON, Iowa - Frances Emily Yockey, 84, of Anthon died Monday at Correctionville (Iowa) Nursing and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Anthon. Burial will be in Rock Branch Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

VIBORG, S.D. - Phyllis Fern Mayer, 75, of Viborg died Sunday at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Wakonda, S.D. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Hansen Funeral Home in Irene, S.D.

MAPLETON, Iowa - Hattie Ida Marianna Jensen, 87, of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Mapleton, died Sunday at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Mount Hope Cemetery in Mapleton. Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ida Grove, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.
