Edna Hinz
PAULLINA, Iowa - Edna Marie Hinz, 82, of Paullina died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Wide View Rest Home in Paullina.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet, Iowa, with the Rev. Lola Rosenberger officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina.
Mrs. Hinz was born May 6, 1916, near Gaza, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Catherine (Kruse) Hoppe. She attended country schools in Highland Township, O'Brien County, Iowa.
She married John Hinz on Nov. 18, 1936, in Calumet. The couple farmed near Paullina for many years. They entered Wide View Rest Home in August 1996.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. She had been a 4-H leader and enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Diane Hinz of Paullina; a grandaughter, Ann Anderson; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Dudley and Steve Hinz, Richard Fiddelke, Marvin Hoppe, David Newell and Greg Bina.
Glenn A. Reeves
LE MARS, Iowa - Glenn A. Reeves, 81, of Le Mars died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. The Rev. Leonard Waller of Nazarene Church will officiate and the Rev. John Jenkins will give the eulogy. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Mr. Reeves was born July 10, 1917, near Le Mars, the son of Wilbert and Cynthia (Heemstra) Reeves. He attended school in Le Mars.
He married Thelma Dempster on Jan. 24, 1940, in Le Mars. The couple farmed near Le Mars and then moved to a farm near Kingsley, Iowa, where they farmed for many years. They returned to Le Mars 18 years ago.
He was a member of Free Methodist Church and the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Warren and Christine of Kingsley and Duane and Vivien of Orange City, Iowa; three daughters and their husbands, Marlene and the Rev. John Jenkins of Oroville, Wash., Norma and John Rempe of Littleton, Colo., and Nancy and Ray Gavi of Aurora, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Ernest and Dolly of Pharr, Texas; two sisters, Mabel Parks of Prescott, Ariz., and Myrtle Parks of Winnewood, Okla.; and a sister-in-law, Viola Reeves of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence.
Elvera Thompson
UTE, Iowa - Elvera Thompson, 82, of Ute died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, with the Rev. Edgar Bode officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.
Mrs. Thompson was born Nov. 7, 1916, near Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Martha (Henning) Clausen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and country school.
She married Richard S. Thompson on Sept. 26, 1932, in Ute. The couple was employed with Walter Funeral Home in Ute for 25 years. They also served as custodians for St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 25 years. He died Sept. 5, 1981.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed raising flowers and handiwork.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Mary Jane and Donald Petersen of Denison and Arlynn and Larry Gittins of Harlan, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Clausen of Wall, Iowa, and Darlene Clausen of Granger, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael; and a daughter, Christine.
Rick Brower
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Fred Rick Brower, 49, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Orange City, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at his residence.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at First Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. David Sterk officiating. Burial will be prior to the service in West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Mr. Brower was born Nov. 9, 1949, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Frederic and Charlene Brower. He lived in Iowa until 1969, when he moved to Arizona.
Survivors include his mother of Mesa; two sisters and their husbands, Jane and Gary Lolling and Colleen and Keith Smith, all of Gilbert, Ariz.; and a grandmother, Hattie Oolman of Orange City.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorials may be directed to The MARC Center in Mesa or New Hope Community Church in Gilbert.

EARLY, Iowa - John W. Weber, 73, of Early died Monday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Early. Burial will be in Early Union Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., at Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, Iowa.

ARTHUR, Iowa - Joyce Johnson, 65, of Arthur died Tuesday at Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Evangelical Free Church in Arthur. Burial will be in Hayes Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove, Iowa.

STORM LAKE, Iowa - Helen Evelyn Paulson, 87, of Storm Lake, formerly of Alta, Iowa, died Monday at Buena Vista Manor in Storm Lake.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Barker Funeral Home in Alta. Burial will be in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Harold "Bud" Bork, 80, of Marcus, Iowa died Tuesday; Earnest-Roethler Funeral Home in Marcus.
Matthew C. Clemon
Matthew C. Clemon, 23, of Newton, Iowa died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at the Convenant Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newton, with the Rev. Lyle Peters officiating. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery. Reese Funeral Home of Newton is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Clemon was born April 26, 1975, in Des Moines, the son of Gary and Dianne (Anderson) Clemon. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1993. He was employed with General Office Products Company in Waverly, Iowa. He had lived in Cedar Falls, Iowa for one and a half years.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing, golfing and in-line skating.
Survivors include his parents of Newton; a brother and his wife, Jeff and Jill of Newton; a sister and her husband, Jennifer and Scott Thomsen of Dallas, Texas; paternal grandmother, Elenor Clemon of Sioux City; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Vivian Anderson of Sioux City; and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and an uncle.
Memorials may be directed to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or the Newton Y.M.C.A.

John Edward Skoglund, 72, of Sioux City died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riverside United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. conducted by the North Riverside Lodge, at the Berkemier Funeral Home.
