Julia G. Walsh
Julia G. Walsh, 89, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at a Sioux City retirement home.
Memorial services will be 10:45 a.m. today at Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Hartz officiating. There will be no visitation. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Walsh was born Oct. 24, 1911, in Clinton, Mo.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Jim and Shirley Robinette of South Sioux City; two grandchildren, Rick Robinette and Pam McComsey; and six great-grandchildren.
Jack Brand
Jack Brand, 48, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation or viewing. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Harold R. Jaynes
Harold R. Jaynes, 90, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at a Sioux City retirement community.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Harry Walker of Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home, with the family present.
Mr. Jaynes was born Dec. 16, 1909, in Johnson City, Tenn., the son of Joseph K. and Lura (Justice) Jaynes. He attended High School in Johnson City. He married S. Blanche Crooks on July 5, 1933, in Dakota City. She died Nov. 28, 1998.
He was employed with Sioux City Transit Company as a street car and bus operator for many years. He was past president and member of the Busmen's Local 779, an active volunteer for Telephone Pioneers and Meals on Wheels, and was involved in several church organizations.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Lois and Gene Holly of Las Vegas; two sisters, Kathern and her husband, John Maine of Lancaster, Penn., and Anna McKinney of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Laurie Smither and Marshall Holly; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Taylor and Madison Jaynes; and a stepsister, Stella Dimma.
Aerial Lee Dickson
Aerial Lee Dickson, 5-year-old-daughter of Douglas L. and Dona A. (Shoop) Dickson, died Thursday, Nov. 30. 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Larkin Northside Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin W. Garvin of River Hills Church officiating. The body will be cremated after the service with burial of the ashes to be held at a later date. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Aerial was born Feb. 20, 1995, in Sioux City.
Survivors include her parents; two brothers, Franklin Rask and Nathan Dickson; a sister, Carrie Cloudas; her maternal grandmother, Sharon Shoop, and paternal grandmother, Kathy Walker, both of Sioux City; and nine aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Wayne Shoop.
Marguerite M. Lighter, 89, of Sioux City died Saturday at a Sioux City nursing home; Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Ernestine V. Lage
Ernestine V. Lage, 91, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery in Rodney, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Albert G. Anderson
Albert G. Anderson, 72, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. There will be no visitation.
Christopher Graves
NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa - Christopher William Robin Graves, 53, of North Liberty died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, following a brief illness.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City with the Rev. Timothy J. Zimmermann officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at The George L. Gay Funeral Home & Crematorium in Iowa City.
Mr. Graves was born Sept. 21, 1947, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Robert William and Sylvia Ann (Ruck) Graves. He graduated from Sioux City Heelan High School in 1965. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in political science in 1969. He served in R.O.T.C. from 1965 to 1969 and in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1981.
He married Carol Atchison on June 17, 1972, in Iowa City. They lived in many different states with military duties, but most recently resided in Coralville, Iowa, and since 1998 had lived in North Liberty. He was employed as an operations manager of Initial Security at a branch office in Springfield, Ill.
He attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Andrea and Jean, both of North Liberty; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Barbara and Stephen Greene of Iowa City, and Charol and Bruce Thompson of Long Valley, N.J.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Robert and Gayle Atchison of Montgomery, Ala.; and five nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Gail Atchison.
Memorials may be donated to The Christopher Graves Memorial Fund.
Clara Grigsby Hanson
ROCK VALLEY, Iowa - Clara Grigsby Hanson, 90, of Rock Valley, formerly of Storm Lake and Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, of natural causes.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., all at Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids.
Wilbert H. Meyer
SPENCER, Iowa - Wilbert H. Meyer, 85, of Spencer died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at St. Luke Lutheran Home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, Iowa. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Visitation will begin at noon Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Warner Funeral Home in Hartley.

MARCUS, Iowa - Bernice Brady, 81, of Marcus died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Heartland Care Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Burial will be in Holy Name Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday with a rosary at 4 p.m., and a wake service at 7 p.m., all at Earnest and Roethler Funeral Home.

CANTON, S.D. - Leroy Hetlet, 80, of Canton died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Canton-Inwood Hospital in Canton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Inwood, Iowa. Burial will be in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood.

LESTER, Iowa - Ella Metzger, 86, of Lester died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Apostolic Christian Church in Lester. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be 2 to 4 p.m., and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall in Lester. Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Franza P. Champion
RODNEY, Iowa - Franza Pauline Champion, 84, of Rodney died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery in Smithland, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Champion was born Dec. 18, 1915, near Ute, Iowa, the daughter of John and Ethel (Browning) Lundeen. She grew up and was educated in the Ticonic, Iowa, area. She married William Howard Champion on April 7, 1937, in Onawa, Iowa. They farmed in the Grant Center, Iowa, area and later moved into Rodney. He died in August 1976. She remained in her home in Rodney until 10 years ago when she moved into Akron Care Center in Akron, Iowa.
She enjoyed reading and baking.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan and her husband, Donald Lewis of Battle Creek, Iowa, and Gloria Champion of Onawa; a brother and his wife, Waldo and Freda Lundeen of Onawa; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Champion of Storm Lake, Iowa.
