Erma M. Liska
UTE, Iowa - Erma Minna Liska, 96, of Ute died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, with the Rev. Edgar Bode officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.
Mrs. Liska was born March 28, 1904, in Cuba, Mo., the daughter of Emil August and Alma Johanna (Falsken) Hildeman.
She married Edward Joseph Liska M.D. on May 7, 1927, in Omaha. The couple made their home in Ute in 1928. She assisted her husband in his medical practice. Her husband died Nov. 21, 1969.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and the church choir. She enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Edward and Donna of Ute and Dr. Robert and Darlene of Lyons, Kan.; two daughters and their husbands, Nancy Ann and Richard Alberhasky of Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Lou and Jerry Anderson of Barrington, Ill.; 14 grandchildren, Donald, Daniel, Vicki, David, Terie, Dennis, Linda and Julie Liska, Quentin, Dwight and Travis Alberhasky and Tracy, Stephanie and Katherine Anderson; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Heinrich and Emil Wilhelm Hildeman.

Nelvina E. Scholten
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Nelvina Edythe Scholten, 85, of Orange City died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at the Long Term Care Facility of the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Alton Reformed Church in Alton, Iowa, with the Rev. Robert Vander Schaaf officiating. Burial will be in Nassau Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.
Miss Scholten was born March 23, 1915, in Alton, the daughter of Herman and Nellie (Den Hartog) Scholten. She was raised in Alton, where she graduated from high school. She attended a dental hygienist school in Sioux City.
She made her home in Orange City, where she was employed with Dr. Osdoba's Dental Office. She was later employed with Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. She entered the Long Term Care Facility in January 2001.
She was a member of Alton Reformed Church, Mary Circle and Orange City Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening and crafts.
Survivors include a sister, Jeanette Riedemann of Orange City; a sister-in-law, Minnie Scholten of Alton; and nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Gerald Scholten; three sisters, Margaret and Minnie Scholten and Bernice Jasper; a half brother, Simon Scholten; and three half sisters, Ann Langstraat, Abby Geurink and Grace De Boer.
Memorials may be directed to Alton Reformed Church.

Paul R. Jenness
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Paul R. Jenness, 80, of Cherokee died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Church of Christ in Cherokee, with Mr. Gregg Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Afton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.
Mr. Jenness was born March 23, 1920, in Quimby, Iowa, the son of George and Eva (Athey) Jenness. He attended Quimby schools.
He married Maxine Cave on Feb. 15, 1944, in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines. He was employed with Christensen Brothers for 20 years. He was then employed with Cherokee County Maintenance Department for 20 years, retiring in 1982. He had been a resident of Heartland Care Center for three years. His wife died Oct. 11, 1992.
He was a member of First Church of Christ and Veterans of Foreign Wars L.A. Wescott Post 2253. He enjoyed fishing and horseshoe pitching.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Paula and Paul Burch of Cherokee and Peggy and Daniel Rebhuhn of Storm Lake, Iowa; three grandchildren, Kory Burch, Jessica and Katie Plagman; a brother and his wife, Buster and Dorothy of Cherokee; a sister, Florence Jones of Eldora, Iowa; a brother-in-law and his wife, Wayne and Marlene Cave of Cherokee; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl, Henry and Richard; and two sisters, Laura Jenness and Dorothy Wilson.

Alydia De Vries
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Alydia De Vries, 94, of Sioux Center died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon, Iowa.
Graveside services will be 10:15 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center, with the Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
Mrs. De Vries was born May 9, 1906, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Gerrit and Jana (Te Grotenhuis) Den Herder. She graduated from Hope College in Holland, Mich.
She married Albert De Vries on July 27, 1932, in Sioux Center.
She was a member of First Reformed Church, where she was active in circle and adult choir, and Sioux County Women's Chorus. She served as a 4-H leader for 30 years. She enjoyed music and crafts.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Avan and Marlys of Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Jeanne Feekes of Sheldon, Judy and her husband, Mike Finnell of Denver and Cheryl and her husband, Dick Kunz of Wilmore, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice Sandbulte of Luverne, Minn.; and three brothers and their wives, John and Daisy, Alvin and Katherine and Kenneth and Elizabeth, all of Sioux Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Gordon and Elmer; a sister, Jeanne Audrey Den Herder; and a son-in-law, Bob Feekes.
Pallbearers will be Loren and Lyle De Vries, Duane and Gary Feekes, Denise Vander Ploeg, Michael and Kevin Kosters, Kim Bylsma and Michael and Hannah Kunz.

Minnie Beyer
SHELDON, Iowa - Minnie Beyer, 91, of Sheldon died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Demco Community Center in Boyden, Iowa. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.
Miss Beyer was born April 18, 1909, near Boyden, the daughter of John William and Johanna (Helmink) Beyer. She received her education in Sioux County, Iowa country school of Capel Township.
She was employed as a nurse's aide at a Minneapolis hospital, a clerk for Golden Rule in Sheldon and from 1955 until her retirement in 1980, as a nurse's aide for Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon. She entered Oak Park Care Center in April 2000.
Survivors include a sister and her husband, Grace and Wallace Braasch of Ryder, N.D.; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Beyer of Oronoco, Minn.; and 14 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Raymond and Garrett Beyer; and a sister, Evelyn Doorenboos.

Chuck Myers
SPENCER, Iowa - Chuck Myers, 50, of Spencer died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Spencer Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Wayne M. Saunders
HARRIS, Iowa - Wayne M. Saunders, 67, of Harris died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Harris. Burial will be in Union Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, followed by a Masonic service, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanborn Funeral Home in Sanborn, Iowa.

Marilyn Schoenfeld
SCHLESWIG, Iowa - Marilyn Schoenfeld, 69, of Schleswig died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Burial will be in Morgan Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig.

Lillian C. Stanislav
ONAWA, Iowa - Lillian C. Stanislav, 81, of Onawa died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Blencoe, Iowa. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary, at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Lee Roy Rohde
BOYDEN, Iowa - Lee Roy Rohde, 74, of rural Boyden died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Boyden. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden.

Dr. Gordon D. Crary
Dr. Gordon D. Crary, 91, of Olympia, Wash., formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998 at Olympia after a brief illness.
The body was cremated. There was a private memorial service.
Dr. Crary was born Nov. 9, 1907 in Ute, Iowa the son of Sam and Edith (Goss) Crary. He graduated from Central High School in 1926. He graduated with honors from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1932. He moved from Ute to Sioux City in 1920 where he practiced dentistry for 41 years. He then retired and moved to Spirit Lake. In 1978 he moved to Seattle, Wash. and then to Olympia.
He was a life member of American and Iowa State Dental Associations, Chicago Dental Association, Tyrian Lodge 508 of Sioux City, Sioux City Consistory, Abu Bekr Shrine Temple of Sioux City, Seattle Consistory and Nile Shrine, American Legion Starr Sutherland 217, DAV 2, Lions Club and Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife Hazel of Olympia; one daughter and her husband, Rosetta and Dr. Henry Kass of Portland, Ore.; two grandsons and their wives, Steven and Cate of Portland and Daniel and Amanda of Olympia; one brother, Robert J. and his wife Dorothy of Sioux City; two great-grandsons and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Merrill.
