Alabama School Yearbooks by State and County

Alice B. Jones
Alice B. Jones, 81, of Sioux City died Friday at a Sioux City hospital.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Roger A. Martin
Roger A. Martin, 58, of Norfolk, Va., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, in Norfolk.
Military services were held in Norfolk. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Church of All Nations, 3100 W. 4th St., Sioux City, with the Rev. William Cotton officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Martin was born June 20, 1940, in Sioux City. At the age of 18, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam. He retired from the Navy after serving 20 years in 1980, in Norfolk.
Survivors include his mother, Viola "Ole" Estrem of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, Gary Taylor of St. Louis and Barry Taylor of California; two sisters, Cherie Kasten and Vicki Taylor, both of St. Louis, and one uncle.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pam Allen; and his father, Jim Martin.

Clair J. Roman
Clair "Corky" J. Roman, 56, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at his residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. A. Pete Petersen of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Roman was born April 24, 1942, in Sioux City, the son of Carl J. and Pearl (Clouse) Roman. He graduated from Central High School and attended Morningside College for two years.
He married Rosemary J. Anderson on Dec. 2, 1961, in Sioux City. He had been employed with the traffic department for the City of Sioux City.
He was a member of Siouxland Ostomy Club and enjoyed reading, movies and golfing.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jodi L. and her husband, Todd Weyhrich, of Omaha, Neb., and Heidi J. Roman of Las Vegas, Nev.; and three sisters and their husbands, Berneeta and Charles T. Kirby, Beverly and Gordon Bolks and Betty and Jim Stewart, all of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Roger Anderson and Charles Jewell.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Kirby, Joel and David Bolks, Roger Brown, Doug Aden and Pat O'Connor.

Terry Sulsberger
Terry Todd Sulsberger Sr., 46, of Sioux City died Thursday unexpectedly.
Services will be 7 p.m. Monday, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mildred L. Wynia
Mildred Leona Wynia, 87, of Sioux City died Thursday at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 3 to 4 p.m. and again 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Rev. Monsignor Dean P. Walker
Rev. Monsignor Dean P. Walker, 75, of Sioux City died Friday; Larkin Northside Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Ruth W. Baak
CHARTER OAK, Iowa - Ruth W. Baak, 81, of Charter Oak died Thursday at Elkhorn Manor in Elkhorn, Neb.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Soldier Township, Charter Oak. Burial will be in the Charter Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak.

Adeline N. Kohl
Adeline N. Kohl, 65, of rural Dakota City died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Susan Miller of Hospice of Siouxland officiating. Family graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Mound City Cemetery, Ortonville, Minn., with the Rev. Lloyd Berger officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kohl was born July 12, 1933, in Chokio, Minn., the daughter of Edward and Louisa (Kruse) Pahl. She was raised in the Chokio area and graduated from high school in 1951.
She married Allen G. Kohl on June 7, 1953, in Clinton, Minn. The couple lived in Clinton, Donnelly and Morris, Minn. She was employed in the creameries as an egg handler. In 1957, they moved to Sioux City. He died Sept. 25, 1975, in Sioux City. She moved to Nebraska in 1980. She was employed with Gordon Memorial Hospital, Johnson Biscuit Co., St. Luke's Internal Medicine and retired from Dr. Greg Roberts office in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Brian of Sioux City; three daughters, Sharon Sparks of Panama City, Fla., Charlene Helms of Sioux City and Michelle Kohl of Dakota City; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Bruce; two brothers, Art and Al Diers; two sisters, Betty Faulk and Jaunita Lager; and a grandson, Aaron Helms.
Pallbearers will be Edward, Steven and Robert Faulk, Mark Walding, Terry Fiscus and Willard Hinkle.

Leona B. Ludwigs
LE MARS, Iowa - Leona B. Ludwigs, 89, of Le Mars died Wednesday at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Clara Paisley
OCHEYEDAN, Iowa - Clara Paisley, 95, of Ocheyedan died Friday at Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church of Ocheyedan. Burial will be in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Walton, Roste & Vogel Funeral Home of Sibley, as well as Monday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church.

Harriet Vander Schaaf
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Harriet Vander Schaaf, 91, of Sioux Center died Friday at the Sioux Center Community Health Center.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Free Grace Reformed Church in Middleberg, Iowa. Burial will precede the church service at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, with the family present Sunday 2 to 4 p.m., at the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Eunice Wilcox
IDA GROVE, Iowa - Eunice Wilcox, 80, of Ida Grove died Thursday at Morningside Rehab and Care Center in Ida Grove.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of God in Ida Grove. Burial will be in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove and one hour before services at the church.

Catherine Alvarez
Catherine P. Alvarez, 79, of South Sioux City died Saturday at a Sioux City hospital.
A memorial Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. The body was cremated and burial of the ashes will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Larkin Northside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bernice A. Banys
Bernice A. Banys, 65, of Sioux City died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at her residence, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Casimir Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m., a rosary by the Rosary Society at 6:30 p.m., and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mrs. Banys was born August 11, 1931, at Sioux City to Paul and Venia (Hahn) Thom. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. She married Joseph P. Banys August 12, 1948, at Sioux City. She was an Avon representative for several years, earning awards for being a top sales representative. She later worked for Sunshine and Super Value Food Stores for about 10 years, retiring due to ill health.
She was a member of the Sioux City Police Officers Auxillary, St. Casimir Catholic Church, and the Rosary Society. She was also a member of TOPS and was active in the PTA.
Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Steve and Christi of Sioux City; six daughters, Gail and her husband Dave McWilliams, Linda Simons, Kathy Kroger, Laurie and her husband Dan Gettner, Jeannie and her husband Rick Mathiason, Joannie and her husband Rick Mogensen, all of Sioux City; two brothers, Frank Shults and Gary Brown, both of Sioux City; a sister, Janet Reiling of Pompano Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
