Winona Hart
WEBB, Iowa - Winona Hart, 93, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly of Webb, died Saturday at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer.
Private family graveside services will be Tuesday in Garfield Cemetery at Webb. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Norma J. Caldwell
ONAWA, Iowa - Norma J. Caldwell, 66, of Onawa, formerly of Little Sioux, Iowa, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.
There will be no services at this time. Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Caldwell was born May 31, 1932, in Harrison County, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Myrtle (Bothwell) Kuehl Sr. She graduated from Blencoe (Iowa) High School.
She married Robert Eugene Heisler on Sept. 16, 1950, in Onawa. She was a Monona and Harrison County homemaker. She married Charles Caldwell on Aug. 19, 1971, in Harrison County.
She attended United Church of Christ in Blencoe.
Survivors include a son, Robert Heisler Jr. of Blencoe; two daughters, Connie and her husband Jim Davis of Aurora, Colo. and Barb Shook of Moville, Iowa; five sisters, Leota and her husband Milton Sorenson of North Sioux City, Linda and her husband Lynn Reed of Onawa, Sharon and her husband Perry Thrift of Whiting, Iowa, Maxine Kuehl of San Luis Obispo, Calif. and Donna Kuehl of Onawa; a brother and his wife, Glen and Alice Kuehl of Gravois Mills, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harold and Donald Jr.

Dickie R. Burns
CHEROKEE, Iowa - Dickie Ray Burns, 47, of Cherokee, formerly of Washta, Iowa, died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m., at Washta United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Scherb officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville (Iowa) Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.
Mr. Burns was born Aug. 16, 1950, in Sioux City, the son of Duane and Betty (Levin) Burns. He attended school in Quimby and Washta, Iowa. He lived and worked on a farm in the Washta area.
He married Bonnie Mae Flisher on June 19, 1987, in Washta.
He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; his parents of Washta; two brothers and their wives, Robert and Janice of Washta and Keith and Mary of Sioux City; three sisters, Linda Johnson of Sioux City, Vickie and her husband Scott Eatinger of Sioux City and Suzann and her husband Joseph Griep of Stockton, Calif.; a sister-in-law and her husband, Betty and Lynn Hodgdon of Cherokee; and many nieces and nephews.

George A. Harms
COLERIDGE, Neb. - George A. Harms, 82, of Coleridge died Friday at the Osmond (Neb.) General Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge. Burial will be in Lawn Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge.

Ella S. Tunink
HARTINGTON, Neb. - Ella S. Tunink, 72, of Hartington died Saturday at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery at Crofton, Neb. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary at 2 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Fern C. Hamil
KINGSLEY, Iowa - Fern C. Hamil, 78, of Kingsley died Saturday, June 13, 1998, at her residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. James Fangman officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m., at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kinglsey.
Mrs. Hamil was born March 25, 1920, in Garfield Township, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Catherine (Dugan) Meister. She attended rural school and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1938. She attended Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa and Morningside College in Sioux City. She taught at various rural schools in Elkhorn Township and Woodbury County. She taught at the Kinglsey-Pierson School and the former St. Michael's School in Kingsley.
She married Veryl Hamil on June 30, 1943, in Kingsley. She was employed with the Superintendent of Schools office in Sioux City and the J.C. Penney Store. He died April 7, 1988.
She was a member of St. Michael's Guild, the Catholic Daughters of America, where she was a regent, and the Kingsley Garden Club, where she was secretary, treasurer, vice president and president. She served as district deputy of the Catholic Daughters America of Remsen, Marcus and Cherokee, Iowa Churches for five years. She was also on the original committee that helped with the plans for the new Kingsley-Pierson School building.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Dan and Nancy of Sioux City, Lynn and Lori of Remsen, Iowa and Wade and June of Merrill, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jim, Steve, Allen and Katelyn Hamil and Melody Jeffers; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Angeline Knaack of Correctionville, Iowa.

Emma Beck
SPENCER, Iowa - Emma Beck, 96, of Spencer died Sunday at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Warner Chapel in Spencer. Burial will be in North Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Paula R. Krambeck
GALVA, Iowa - Paula R. Krambeck, 43, of Galva died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Galva. Burial will be in Galva Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the Barker Funeral Home in Holstein.

Julia Duncan Sawin
ANTHON, Iowa - Julia Duncan Sawin, 92, of Anthon died Sunday at the Correctionville Nursing and Rehab. Center in Correctionville, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Ellis Howard
Ellis Howard, 101, of Lawton, Iowa, died Sunday; McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville, Iowa.

Evelyn M. Desjarlais
Evelyn M. (Desmond) Desjarlais, 71, of Pomona, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 24, 1998, at her residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Claremont, Calif. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery at Pomona. Draper Mortuary of Ontario, Calif., is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Desjarlais was born Jan. 1, 1927, in Sioux City, the daughter of Martin and Orise (LaFleur) Desmond.
She married William J. Desjarlais on July 30, 1945. He died Aug. 6, 1985.
She was a retired associate financial director for Claremont McKenna College. She had been a resident of Pomona for 42 years.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Smith of Pomona and Mary Baldwin of Sierra Madre, Calif.; five sisters, Ellen and her husband, Sam Craig, of Independence, Mo., Teresa and her husband, Jim Irelan, of Rockford, Ill., Marian and her husband, Cecil Harrison, and Sharon Monroe, all of Sioux City, and Elaine and her husband, Richard Holzer, of Spokane, Wash.; three brothers and their wives, Martin and Barbara of Adelanto, Calif., Jim and Jeannie of Sioux City and Dan and Earlynne of Rockford, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Desjarlais; her parents; two brothers, George and John; and a brother-in-law, Steve Monroe.

Gaston Lawrence
Gaston Lawrence, 79, of Sioux City died Saturday, June 27, 1998, at his residence following a brief illness.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Grady Bluford of Goodwill Industries officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 64. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Mr. Lawrence was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Edge Combe County, N.C., the son of Isiah T. and Mittie (Freeman) Lawrence. He served in the U.S Army Air Corps during World War II.
He married Winnie Whitehead. She died in 1985.
He was employed with various packing plants and drove for Specialized Hauling Company, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the Elks, where as a child he was in the drum and bugle corps, the Savoy Elk Lodge 373 in Sioux City and American Legion Post 64.
Survivors include his life partner, Mary Washington; a brother, Charlie Lawrence of Tarboro, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Elvin Lightner Jr., Arthur Thompson, James Gregory, Walter Arnaud, Noah Peoples and Ken Searls.
