Shelby R. Howard
BOISE - Shelby Ray Howard, 81, of Boise, Idaho, died April 21, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Sevierville, Tenn., to Clarence Prince Howard and Edith Atchley Howard. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in the Philippines and the Aleutian Islands.
On Dec. 7, 1949, he married Glendora Fae Card Ashley in Ashton, Idaho. They moved from Rupert to Boise in the spring of 1989. He retired from Kewitt Construction Company in 1980 after 30 years of employment. While at Kewitt he was a blaster, blast foreman and superintendent.
He enjoyed caring for his farm ground, raising livestock, and gardening. He also enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, and camping with his family. He was especially proud of the accomplishments of his grandchildren, and loved to hold and talk to his great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Glendora of Boise; three children, Edith Irving (Jim) of Boise, Clarence Lee (Susan Ashley) of St. Anthony, and Kerry Gale Ashley of Ridgecrest, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the S. Five Mile Road LDS Chapel with Bishop Patrick Costello of the Boise 30th Ward officiating. The family will meet with friends Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Relyea Funeral Chapel in Boise, and Tuesday for one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in the Dry Creek Cemetery.

Susan Wood Sorensen, 47, of Idaho Falls, died Nov. 29, 1999, at her home of natural causes.

Mike Weidauer
Michael Dale "Mike" Weidauer, 44, of Idaho Falls, died Jan. 27, 1999, at his home.
He was born Nov. 23, 1954, at Idaho Falls, to Elwood Walter Weidauer and Doris Mae Nabors Weidauer. He spent his early years in Utah, then moved with his family to Ammon, Idaho, where he grew up and attended Hillview Elementary, Ammon Junior High School, and Bonneville High School. He later served with the National Guard.
He worked as a cook and a carpenter. He had also worked at McDermott Field in Idaho Falls as a maintenance and grounds keeper. He has been disabled for the past several years.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and camping. He loved spending time with his family and his very special nieces, Stephanie and Katie.
Survivors include his mother, Doris Weidauer of Ammon; two daughters, Shalisa Bodillo and Melanie Weidauer, both of Idaho Falls; a son, Steven Weidauer Chapple of Pocatello, Idaho; a sister, Debbie (Ken) Lord of Idaho Falls; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Steven, and his grandparents.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls, with Chaplain Marv Eld of Good Samaritan Hospice officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday for one hour before the services at the funeral home.
Max G. Marotz
ASHTON - Max G. Marotz, 90, of Ashton, Idaho, died Jan. 26, 1999, at Ashton Memorial Nursing Center.
He was born June 30, 1908, in St. Anthony, Idaho. In 1912 his family moved to the community of Greentimber, east of Ashton. For his early education, he attended the Greentimber School and later graduated from Ashton High School.
On Dec. 13, 1935, he married Ruth Green and they made their home in Greentimber. They had two daughters, Claudia and Margo. In June 1964, his wife died. He was a farmer until he retired in 1971. On Nov. 6, 1971, he married Virginia Rigby Mason. They were later divorced.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he held the office of High Priest. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club. He loved to travel and took many trips in the United States, and to New Zealand, Australia, Samoa, Fiji, Europe, and the Philippines. He attended flight school at Thomsen's Flying Service in Salt Lake City, Utah, and loved to fly all of his life. For his 70th birthday he went for a glider ride, where he took pictures looking down on the tip of the Grand Teton. He was a very family oriented and always enjoyed the company of family members, whether they lived close or some distance away.
Survivors include his daughters, Claudia (Gary) Virgin of Boise, Idaho, and Margo (Redge) Smith of Ashton; siblings, Elsie (Harold) Bender of Eugene, Ore., and Louise (Pop) Howell and Victor Marotz, both of Ashton; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ashton LDS 3rd Ward. Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Valley Mortuary in Ashton, and Saturday for one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in the Pineview Cemetery.
The family suggests donations to the Max Marotz Memorial Fund, 1379 Baker Road, Ashton, ID 83420. Funds will be used by the Ashton Rotary Club to put flowers at the entrance into Ashton, and metal statues to be placed at various sights around Ashton.
Melvin Strong
DRIGGS - Melvin Johnson Strong, 53, a teacher at Driggs, Idaho, died Jan. 26, 1999, at Driggs.
He was born March 7, 1945, to William A. and June E. Strong of Driggs. After graduating from Teton High School, he served an LDS Church mission in Brazil.
In 1968 he married JoDeane Carol Bagley in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, and they had 12 children. He spent his life pursuing his dream of a family-owned and operated Brown Swiss dairy farm and felt a farm was the best place to raise his family. From 1969 to 1971 he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After graduating from Brigham Young University, he entered the teaching profession where he served for more than 25 years. He was a loved teacher who cared, not only for the academic, but also the personal success of his students.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served in many callings. He enjoyed fishing with friends and family (especially ice fishing), watching his children and their friends participate in their chosen activities, hunting, boating, refereeing, and going for scenic drives. Melvin was a devoted and loving husband, father, son and brother, whose greatest joy was to have his family near him.
Survivors include his wife JoDeane Strong of Driggs; his 12 children, Cynthia (Jeff) Murdock of Spanish Fork, Utah, Thomas (Tami) Strong, James (Sandi) Strong, Matthew (Michele) Strong, and Anna Strong, all of Logan, Utah, Amy and Jessica Strong of Rexburg, Idaho, and Mark, John, Emma, Sandra, and Luke Strong, all of Driggs; his mother, June E. Strong of Provo, Utah; brothers and sisters, William of Provo, Genevive of Kaysville, Utah, John of Iowa, David of California, Maurine of Pleasant Groves, Utah, Mark of Orem, Utah, and Ralph of California; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Gene; and his father, William A. Strong.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Driggs LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends at the church Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in the Darby Cemetery in Driggs under the direction of Valley Mortuary in Driggs.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a scholarship fund for his children at the Bank of Commerce in Driggs.
Agnes Ruby Lott
JEROME - Agnes Ruby Lott, 94, of Jerome, Idaho, a former resident of Ucon and Mud Lake, Idaho, died Jan. 27, 1999, at Bridgeview Estates in Twin Falls, Idaho.
She was born Feb. 10, 1904, at Clawson, Utah, to Axel and Pauline Thiede Anderson. She was reared and educated at Clawson.
On Feb. 9, 1924, she married David Alonzo "Lon" Lott in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in the Ucon and Mud Lake area, near Idaho Falls, for 40 years. They later resided in Montana and then in Arco, Idaho. Her husband died in 1981 and she moved to Jerome in 1987.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include her sons, Delbert Lott of Pocatello, Elden Lott of Rexburg, LaMon Lott of Kearns, Utah, Milton Lott of Austin, Nev., Ralph Lott of Northport, Wash., Seth Lott of Cedar City, Utah, Ben Lott of Leeds, Utah, and Arlo Lott of Jerome; two daughters, Ruby Mitchell of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Helen Lowder of Rigby, Idaho; a brother, Sander Anderson of Draper, Utah; two sisters, Selda Frisby of Payson, Utah, and Leona Konold of Salt Lake City, Utah; 80 grandchildren; 224 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, DeMar and Phil.
Graveside services will be in Idaho Saturday, Jan. 30, at 3:30 p.m. in the Ucon Cemetery under the direction of Marvel Memorial Chapel in Arco.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Jerome LDS Stake Center, on Tiger Drive. Friends may visit Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hove-Robertson Funeral Chapel in Jerome and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.
