Grace E. Yenni, 84, Moscow
Grace Elizabeth Haag Yenni, 84, passed away May 13, 2002 in Moscow, ID. She was born April 22, 1918 in Sandpoint, ID to Paul and Bertha Haag. She attended Lewis-Clark Normal School in Idaho and earned a general elementary certificate, allowing her to teach at any grade level. She taught fourth grade for two years in Spirit Lake and later served as a substitute teacher for various surrounding rural schools. Grace is survived by her husband, Wayne; two daughters, Anne Anderson of Troy and Carol Wilson of Couer d'Alene; one son, Bruce Yenni of Cavendish; three granddaughters, Amy Miller, Connie Wambeke and Monica Yenni; two grandsons, Keith Anderson and Ed Yenni; a great-grandson, Ryan Miller; two sisters, Janette Smith and Virginia Cox; several nieces; and a nephew. Malcolm's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel of Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie R. Thomas, 83, Orofino
Marjorie Rosetta Thomas died April 24, 2002 at Clearwater Health and Rehabilitation in Orofino. Marjorie was born Oct. 10, 1918 at Storm Lake, Iowa to Elwin E. West and Helen M. Doolittle West. She grew up in Iowa and Southern California. She served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was the charter president of the Sunnyvale Emblem Club #435 as well as a retired real estate agent in California. She and her husband, Henry, moved to Orofino in September of 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Carol M. Lee of Pierce; six grandchildren, Monical Bullard and Stacey Smith, Sunnyvale, Calif.; Frank Slavin and Shanyn Stradley, Orofino; Kelle Thomas, Denver, Colo. and Cord Thomas, Salinas, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren, Cody Stradley, Tessa and Aria Slavin of Orofino, Jack and Michael Bullard and Savannah Smith, all of Sunnyvale, Calif. A graveside memorial service was held at Riverside Cemetery in Orofino May 2, 2002. Pine Hills Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Catherine Kopczynski, 54, Lewiston
Catherine Ann (Katie) Currin Kopczynski, 54, a former Clearwater County resident, died at her Lewiston home Sunday, May 19, 2002 following a 10-year battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 21, 1947 in Spokane to Walter (Hap) and Helen Currin. She attended Weippe High School. She worked at the Potlatch Corp plyboard plant for about ten years. She is survived by her third husband, Tim; her three children, Melony Miller and Douglas Brown, both of Deary, and Faris Brown of Lewiston; two sisters, Judy Brown of Spokane and Sonya Currin of Lewiston; a brother, Roger Currin of Lewiston; and her parents, Helen Currin and Walter and Nellie Currin, all of Lewiston. She had eight grandchildren. A rosary will be recited for Katie at 10:30 a.m. Saturday followed by a memorial service for family and friends at Malcolm's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston. Patricia Kleinsmith, 60, former resident
Patricia R. Kleinsmith of Grangeville and former Orofino and Weippe resident died Monday, May 20 at Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville. Patricia was born Aug. 23, 1941 at Albuquerque, NM, a daughter of Wayne and Neva Maynard. She lived in several areas before attending nursing school in Sparks, NV. She moved to Orofino in the early 1980s. She was a partner in Bailey Real Estate in Orofino for many years. She married her second husband, Ted Kleinsmith June 20, 1990 at Orofino. They lived in Weippe until just recently, when they moved to Grangeville. Patricia was a member of the Kamiah VFW and the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by her husband, Ted, at the family home in Grangeville; a son, Scott Bailey of Lewiston and a brother, Wayne Maynard of Oregon. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 24 at 1 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Orofino. Blackmer Funeral Home of Grangeville is in charge of arrangements.
Edna Martin, 89
Edna Martin, a longtime Orofino and Pierce area resident, passed away Friday, May 17, 2002 at LifeCare Center of Lewiston. She was born March 18, 1913 to C.A. and Georgia Sullivan Beck at Cambridge, Idaho. She graduated from high school in May 1931. She was a mother and homemaker for several years in Asotin and remarried in 1941. She lived in Orofino and worked at the Orofino Mercantile and Orofino Cafe, then moved to Pierce and returned to being a homemaker. She was also active with the Rebekahs. After her second husband died she began working at Durants. She remarried Alvard (Bud) Martin in October, 1978 at Pierce and they moved to Dog Patch, Idaho. Edna suffered a massive stroke in 1980. Survivors include her husband, Bud; three daughters, Phyllis Brown of Vancouver, Wash.; Ann Thompson of Spokane and Judy McCullom of Petersburg, Alaska; a son, Charles Partee of Clarkston; two stepsons, Gary Martin of Pierce and Blaine Martin of Homer, Alaska; a brother, Roy Beck of Clarkston; two sisters, LaVeta Grimm and Vi Devlin, both of Lewiston; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Evelyn Margaret Randle, 79, Weippe
Evelyn Margaret Randle passed away May 17, 2003 at Clearwater Health and Rehabilitation Center in Orofino of congestive heart failure. Evelyn was born April 27, 1924 in Pasco, Wash. to Frank and Jesse Rock Pierce. She grew up and attended schools in Pasco and worked for the Corps of Engineers there during World War II. She was then employed by Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone as an operator and supervisor for 20 years, retiring in 1965. She later managed the Idaho State Liquor Store in Weippe in until 1987. Evelyn married Harold G. Regnier in 1943 at Fort Knox, KY. This marriage ended upon his death in 1955. She married Royal J. "Josh" Randle in Colville, Wash. in 1965. This marriage ended in divorce in 1983. Josh and Evelyn moved to Culdesac in 1968 to care for her mother who was ill with cancer. After her mother's passing in 1969, they moved to Weippe. Survivors include her son Charles C. West at the family home in Weippe; a niece, Tami Warrington of Wilbur, Wash and two nephews, Mike Pierce of Moses Lake, Wash. and Dave Pierce, Quincy, Wash. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials in her name be given to the charity of your choice. Pine Hills Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Velda Millage, 83, Lewiston
Velda Millage, a Lewiston homemaker, died Saturday, May 24, 2003 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. Velda was born Aug. 1, 1919 to Daniel and Ellen Hathaway Carlock in Parma. She lived there until 1921 when her family moved to New Meadows, where she attended school. She married Robert Hubbard Aug. 14, 1938, at New Meadows. They lived at Parma, where he died Jan. 11, 1948. She returned to New Meadows where she lived until moving to Orofino in 1955. She married Curtis W. Millage July 14, 1956 at Pomeroy, Wash. and they continued to reside at Orofino until moving to Lewiston in 1990. He died Aug. 18, 1998. Velda enjoyed cooking, needlework and sewing. Survivors include a son Gordon J. Hubbard of Lewiston; a daughter, Irene Goffinet of Lewiston; a stepson, William Millage of Spring Creek, Nev.; two sisters, Leta Cameron of Bovill and Viola DeAndre of Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers, Edward Carlock and Daniel Carlock of Orofino and Glen Carlock of New Meadows. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Viewing will take place Thursday, May 29 at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home in Lewiston beginning at 9 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Dorothy M. Hunter, 68, Orofino native
Dorothy Marie Hunter passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA following a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure. Born Dorothy Marie Powell at the Orofino Hospital May 19, 1933 to Harold C. and Ella L. Powell, she resided on a ranch at Cavendish until the family moved to a home on Michigan Ave. in Orofino. She graduated from Orofino High School in 1953. She married Lowell Hunter on Oct. 20, 1956. Dorothy was a stay-at-home mother with a home business as an accountant and tax preparer. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Johnson of Orofino and Nancy Hunter of Shreveport, LA., and four grandchildren, Carmine, Tony, Seth and Wyatt Johnson of Orofino. Funeral services are pending at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel in Orofino. Internment will be at Weseman Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Clearwater County Ambulance Service, P.O. Pearl Brummer, 94
Pearl E. Brummer, a former Kamiah resident, died Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Clearwater Health and Rehabilitation in Orofino. Pearl was born Dec. 16, 1908 to James Kelly and Ellet Martin in Piper, Alabama, where she was raised and attended school. As a young woman Pearl moved to Chicago and worked in a defense factory and as a live in domestic. She later moved to Arizona, where she met and married Edwin Brummer in 1952. Edwin had eight children. They moved a few times before finally settling in Kamiah in 1989. Pearl enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, reading western novels and traveling. She was a member of the catholic church. Surviving are her six stepchildren, Robert Brummer, Bernard Brummer, Lorraine Law, Mary Sawyer, Lauretta Walker, Sylvia Wallace, and Dorothy Nelson. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville, ID. Trenary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Doris Mueller Quincy of Weippe died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Odessa, WA. Funeral services were held at the Christ Lutheran Church at Odessa. Burial followed at Golden Rod Cemetery at Davenport, WA. Arrangements were under the direction of Strate Funeral Home at Davenport.
Curtis Dean Meyers, 46, Orofino
Curtis Dean Meyers died May 2, 2003 of cardiac arrest in the V.A. Hospital at Walla Walla, WA. Dean was born in Newberg, OR. After living in the area for 17 years he joined the army, where he served 18 months and was honorably discharged for medical reasons. During his service he met and married his future wife, Lori. Dean and Lori raised three children in the Newberg area until 1990 when they relocated to Orofino, where the family presently resides. Dean enjoyed fishing, hunting with son Travis, and playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Lori; two daughters, Jamie and Patricia; a son, Travis; and grand-children Shawna, R.J., and Brandon. Also surviving are a sister, Patty, of Oregon, and brothers Billy Gean of Oregon and Charles of Idaho. Private services for the family will be held.
Ronald Chris Cooper, 30, former resident
Ronald Chris Cooper, 30, of Brooktown, NJ died May 1, 2003 at his home of natural causes. Ron grew up on "Cooper Mountain" in Orofino. Ron graduated from Orofino High School in 1991. He moved to New Jersey where he worked as a plumber's apprentice. He is survived by a son Zachary; his parents Lloyd and Beverly Cooper, McCall; sisters Christina Dammerman McCall, Gloria Morris Spokane, WA, Kandi Cooper and Tammy, Walla Walla, WA; brothers Waylon Cooper, Orofino and Rusty Cooper, Walla Walla, WA. Services were conducted Wednesday, May 7 at the Payette Lakes Christian Center in McCall, with Pastor Larry Terherst, officiating. Burial followed at the McCall Cemetery.
Lloyd O. Martin, 94, North Dakota
Lloyd O. Martin of Kenmare, ND died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at a Kenmare hospital. Lloyd was born September 2, 1908 in Lark, ND, the son of Douglas and Bessy (Izora) Martin. He married Dorothy Wilson on August 3, 1940, in Idaho. Lloyd worked as a carpenter most of his life in the Washington and Idaho areas. Survivors include his daughters, Sue Walker of Oahu, Hawaii, Rose Ellen Martin and Nora Rasmussen, both of Kenmare; and sister, Greta Mattson of Orofino. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at a later date at Weippe. Arrangements are with Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Kenmare.
Rose Marie Clay, 73, Orofino
Rose Marie Clay died of renal failure, Nov. 10, 2002 at Orofino. Rose was born in Craigmont March 4, 1929 to Irving and Bernice Simpson Lenz. She attended Craigmont Elementary School and Lewiston High School. She married Henry (Roy) Clay Dec. 28, 1947 in Lewiston. She was employed at Niggs 5 and Dime, a candy shop/fountain and a lunch counter in Safeway, all in Lewiston. In 1957 Rose and Roy purchased the Fountain in Orofino. They later remodeled it and renamed it the Ponderosa. In 1975, she and her daughter Cindy opened The Gift Gallery, where Rose worked until she retired in 1990, when the business was sold to Northwest Value Drug & Gifts. Rose enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling with Roy and their friends. She loved to shop for her family and spoil her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Roy at the family home; two daughters, Katherine (Kathy) Hanson and Lucinda (Cindy) Freeman, both of Orofino; a son, Michael H. Clay, Orofino; two brothers, Robert Lenz of Lewiston and Elmer Lenz; three sisters, Jeanette Kuykendall, Richland, Wash., Roberta Richardson, Lewiston and Carol Utoff, Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren, Jeff Hanson, Seattle, Janelle Hanson, Portland, Rachell Larsen, Orofino, Stephanie Freeman, Moscow, Nikki Anderson, Coeur d'Alene, Hope Medley, Boise and Cory Medley, Lewiston and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Pine Hills Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens, Lewiston. S. Pearl Choate, 93, Lewiston
S. Pearl Choate, a longtime Teakean resident, died Nov. 6, 2002 of congestive heart failure. Pearl was born Aug. 16, 1909 at Crescent, to Charles and Alda Wells Gainer. She moved to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1911 with her family. After the death of her mother in February 1921, she moved back to Idaho to live with her uncle, George Wells. She attended school half of that year at Cavendish, a year at Clarkston and finished at Teakean. She married Orval Choate April 18, 1926 at Teakean, where they made their home, farming and raising a large garden, which they shared with all their neighbors. She was an avid quilter, making quilts for family members and friends. She belonged to the Teakean Community Club and was a Sunday School teacher for nine years. Pearl was a charter member of the Evergreen Grange, in which she held many offices and along with her husband, donated the land on which the log Grange hall was built. It was later sold to the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Dept., who honored her with a plaque in February 1996. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1976. He died in May 1982. In 1984, Pearl moved to Orofino, where she joined the Bluebell Rebakah Lodge and participated in the Clearwater County Senior Citizens Club and attended the First Christian Church. She moved to the Royal Plaza Retirement Center in Lewiston in 1990. She is survived by her three daughters, Alda McIver, Alice Damman and Agnes Vaughan, all of Lewiston; five grandchildren, one step-grandchild; 12 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Opal Leslie; two half brothers, Norman and Delis Gainer and two half sisters, Eileen Bilodeau and Addie Witham. Funeral services were held Monday at the First Christian Church in Clarkston. The Rev. Clarence Howard officiated. Burial followed at the Teakean Cemetery. Arlen Norris Bruce, 89, Orofino
Arlen Norris Bruce passed away July 29, 2002. He was born Nov. 23, 1912 in El Reno, Okla. to William Everett and Demma Bell Bruce. He graduated from high school in Torrington, WY and attended college at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. He married Violet Robson Dec. 26, 1937, in Denver, Colo. Arlen received his bachelor's degree in Agriculture in 1939. Following graduation, he worked for the Department of Agriculture. In 1940 Arlen and Violet moved to Georgia, where Arlen trained at Fort Benning with the 2nd Armored Division as a protege of then Col. George S. Patton. At the conclusion of a year of active duty, Arlen took up residence in Virginia, near Washington, D.C. With the advent of WWII, Arlen was recalled to active duty and participated in numerous campaigns, including the Allied invasion into North Africa and the invasion of Italy. Afterwards, he was reassigned to Fort Knox, where he trained new troops for combat. After the war, the Bruce family lived in Littleton, Colo., Hazelton, BC, Wilbur, Wash., and Grangeville before establishing a full-time dairy and poultry ranch in Orofino. Arlen actively participated in the community and church. Arlen's immediate surviving family includes his wife Violet Robson Bruce, Orofino; his sons and daughters-in-law, TJ and Suk Bruce, Orofino and Theron and Coral Bruce, Peck; seven grandchildren, Trelawny Jonathon Bruce, Sacramento, CA; Jeremy and Krista Bruce, Wasilla, AK; Cicely Bruce, Portland, OR; Jason and Trisha Bruce, Coronado, CA; Soo Lee Bruce, Lewiston; Jarel Bruce, Moscow and Louise Bruce, Lewiston and his two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Sydney Bruce, Wasilla, AK. Surviving siblings include Naomi Faye Sullivan of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Annabeth Squires of Salt Lake City, UT, Ruth Ellis of Santa Paula, CA and Kenneth Bruce of St. Thomas, VI, USA. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Church of the Nazarene. A fellowship dinner will immediately follow the service. Memorials may be sent to the Arlen N. Henry Foster, 84, Kooskia
Henry Foster of Kooskia, passed away Nov. 5, 2002. Henry was born June 2, 1918 to William and Martha Foster in Franklin, Ken. As a young man, he enjoyed music. He sang with the Carter Sisters at the Grand Ole Opry. In 1933, he went west, to Steptoe, Nev., where he got a job with the 3c's. Henry married his wife Katherine in White Pine County, Nev. Aug. 1, 1939. He served in the Naval Air Division during WWII. In 1945, he and Katherine moved to Boise, where he drove taxis and worked for the Bohemian Brewery as a salesman and truck driver. In the early 1960's he worked as a carpenter for Ash and Clayton. He then moved to Mountain Home, where he worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at the Anderson Ranch Dam as a maintenance man. Henry retired to Kooskia in 1981, where he was active in the community. He was on the Ridge Runner Volunteer Fire Dept., helped with the Idaho Co. 4-H program and help build houses for friends. He will be missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his sons Cary and Dee; grandchildren R`eme, Annette, Stephanie, Jewelene, Amy, Dawniel, Katie, Bailey, Jamie, Jerry, Hank, Lennie and Clayton; great-grandchildren Shelbie, Vanessa, Malori, Callie, Jennifer and Henry and one great-great-grandchild, Malachi. A memorial service was held Saturday at Trenary Funeral Home in Kooskia.
Byron (Omar) L. Danielson, 90, Orofino
Byron "Omar" Loyd Danielson passed away from heart failure Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002 at his Orofino home. Omar was born March 7, 1912 at Los Angeles, Calif. to Columbus A. and Florence A. (Hilts) Danielson and graduated from Huntington Park High School. He married Grace F. Morrison at South Gate, Calif. May 22, 1937. Omar worked for the Ford Motor Company and owned an auto repair and later a trucking business. From 1952 until 1974, he owned and operated an auto salvage and machine shop business. He designed and built several race cars, and in 1961 and 1967 he was a member of the pit crew for the "Indy 500" Parnelli Jones racing team. He retired in 1974 and moved with his wife, to Orofino. He was a member of Rotary Club for 42 years. He enjoying hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends at his "Ponderosa" cabin in the Clearwater National Forest north of Pierce. He and wife Grace, enjoyed traveling and were members of the Fine Gold R.V. Club of Orofino. Omar is survived by his wife Grace of Orofino, three sisters, Elizada Sliger of Wolf Creek, Ore., Lesta Hutchinson and Noel of Shasta, Calif. and Lillian Etherton and Homer of Yamhill, Ore.; three daughters, Sandra Huling and Jim of Lewiston, Dulcilee Huling of Kennewick, Wash. and Elizabeth McConnell and Dave of Lewiston; nine grandchildren, Kendell Huling, Kennewick, Wash., Jennifer Simental and husband Ted of University Place, Wash, Vanessa Vance and husband Mike of West Richland, Wash, Jeb Huling of Lewiston, Robert Schumacher and wife Liz of Boise, Mitchell Danielson and wife Robyn of LaQuinta, Calif., Andy Schumacher of Lewiston, Zebulun Huling of Kennewick, Wash. and Michael Danielson; six great-grandchildren, Taylor, McKenzie and Ethan Simental, Madison and Alexandria Vance and Jayce Huling; many nieces and nephews and extended family members Anita Swalley Sharon Koehler. Robert Eugene Roy of Orofino died Nov. 16, 2002 at Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino. Robert was born March 8, 1956 in Orofino to Carl D. and Rose Roy. He attended school in Orofino and spent two years with the National Guard. He joined the Community of Christ Church in 1964. In 1980, he entered appliance and small engine repair and refrigeration school in Portland, Ore., where he worked for ten years before returning to orofino to work in the family business. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with his family. He is survived by his wife, Carolann; one son, Wyatt; a daughter, Adrianna; his parents, Carl and Rose; one brother, Ronald of Orofino; and three sisters, Sandra Gentry, Donna Burgard and Gail Roy, all of Seattle, WA. John R. Kayler, 23, OHS graduate
John R. Kayler passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 in Scottsdale, Ariz., as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was born Jan. 5, 1979 at Lewiston to Jeff and Janet Kayler. A 12-year-senior at Orofino High School, John graduated with the class of 1997. At the time of his death he was an assistant pro at Troon Golf and Country Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., living out his dream of being a golf professional. John was an active participant in all sports and lover of anything to do with being outdoors. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his dedication to his family and friends and the happy, enthusiastic way he lived his life. John is survived by his parents, Jeff and Treva Kayler of Peck and Janet and John Gifford of Seattle; brothers Brian Kayler, Jared, Kevan and Kamron Gifford; grandparents John and Beverly Kayler of Peck and Robert and Joanne Schaeffer of Walla Walla, Wash.; aunts, uncles, cousins and an entire community of friends. A memorial serivce for John was held at 11 a.m. Nov. 27 at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston.
Clayton J. Campbell, 85, Doolittle Raider
Clayton J. Campbell of Boise, passed away Nov. 17, 2002, in Richland, Wash. He was born March 14, 1917, in St. Maries to Fred D. and Harriet (Boettcher) Campbell. While growing up, his family lived in Chelan and Spokane, Wash., and then in Moscow and Orofino. He graduated from Orofino High School in 1935. He attended the University of Idaho, graduating with a degree in architecture in June 1940. He was a member of the Chi Alpha Pi and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternities. That spring he became engaged to Mary Stevens, his college sweetheart. Upon graduation, Clayton joined the Army Air Corps and graduated from Pan America's second navigation class, receiving a commission in May 1941. He and Mary were married June 10, 1941, in Moscow. They started their marriage in Tacoma at Fort Lewis and went on to Pendleton Field, Ore. Clayton volunteered for a secret mission, which turned out to be the Doolittle Tokyo Raid of April 18, 1942, Pres. Roosevelt's answer to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor four months earlier. Following that mission, Clayton was assigned to the Flying Tigers in China, where he was squadron navigator for the B-25 bomber group. A year-and-a-half and 35 missions later, he returned, to settle in Boise while teaching navigation at the Mt. Home Air Force Base. After the war, he remained in the Air Force Reserve, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was a highly decorated veteran, receiving the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and eight other medals including the highest ranking Chinese medal, the Army, Navy and Air Corps Medal, which was awarded by Madame Chiang Kai-Shek in China. Following the war, Clayton became a carpenter and worked in Boise building houses and later doing finish woodwork and cabinetry. In 1951 he designed and built his Boise home, where he and Mary raised their five children. Clayton loved the outdoors, where the family spent most summer weekends on camping and fishing trips in the mountains. He also enjoyed hunting and was a skilled and successful elk hunter. He always raised a large garden, which supplied ample vegetables for family and friends. He was appreciated for his ability to repair almost anything. For years he served on the property committee of First Presbyterian Church of Boise, remodeling rooms and keeping the big oak doors in working order. He and Mary celebrated their 60th anniversary at their church in 2001. Clayton and his family were also longtime members of the Scandinavian Society. Clayton is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary J. Campbell, his brothers Frederick Campbell, Spokane, Wash. and George Campbell, Upland, Calif.; a sister Helen Hopkins, Portland, Ore.; children C. John Campbell, Jr., Aberdeen, Wash.; Marjory Clements, Selah, Wash.; Beth Carothers, Richland, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Ann Campbell, of Richland, Wash.; one great-grandchild, Grant Eilers and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, Boise.
