Clyde Paxton
KEWANEE -- Clyde E. Paxton, 79, of Kewanee died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.
Born March 1, 1925, in Kewanee to Clarence and Maude Elizabeth (Henderlite) Paxton, he married Dorothea Wolf. She died. He then married Patricia S. (Deskin) Rawlings on Aug. 2, 1974, in Kewanee. She survives.
He was a self-employed general contractor. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of Tri-County Marine Corp League, charter life member of the Kewanee VFW 8078, American Legion Post 31, Military Order of the Cooties, Masonic Lodge 159 AF & AM, Military Order of the Devils Dogs and 40/8 Voiture 443.
Also surviving are three sons, Jeffrey (Rita) Paxton of Longmont, Colo., Gregory Paxton of Davenport, Iowa, and James (Diana) Rawlings of West Jersey; and seven grandchildren.
His parents, one son, Mark Rawlings; one grandson, Andrew Paxton; four brothers, Chester, Ed, Harold and Clarence Jr., and one sister, Dorothy Naylor, all preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, the Rev. Dr. Kevin Siscoe officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee at a later date.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council.
Memorials may be given to the family.
E. Raymond Spears
ROCKFORD -- E. Raymond Spears, 95, of Wesley Willows Health Center in Rockford, formerly of Tampico, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at the center.
Born March 20, 1909, in Filmore to Otis Pete and Ethel (Hunter) Spears, he married T. Virginia Casey on June 18, 1932, in Princeton. She died June 21, 2003.
He farmed in the Prophetstown and Erie area until 1946 when he moved to Tampico, where he farmed until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the Tampico United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Joanna (Irv) Stewart of Rockford; three sisters, Teddy Stephens of Taylorville, Violet Masters of Taylorville, and Burnetta Hill of Nokomis; one brother, Earl (Cora) Spears of Delphos, Ohio; two grandsons, Gregory (Laura) Stewart of Rockton, and David (Susan) Stewart of Golden, Colo.; one granddaughter, Susan Johnson of Rockford; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Stewart, Kelsey Stewart, Hannah Stewart, Abby Rae Stewart, and Victoria Kauchak; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, one granddaughter, two brothers and four sisters also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Tampico United Methodist Church, the Rev. Monty Fox officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Tampico United Methodist Church or the Wesley Willows Good Samaritan Fund.
JoAnne Imes
WARSAW, Mo. -- JoAnne Margaret Imes, 72, of Warsaw, Mo., died on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at the Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Mo.
Born July 29, 1932, in McNabb to Peter and Fern Marie (Forrest) Jensen, she married Carl Imes on May 1, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo. He survives.
She graduated from John Swaney High School in 1950 and earned a business degree in 1953 from the Chillicothe Business College. She worked in sales for a farm implement company in Kansas City, Mo.
Also surviving are one daughter, Pam (Greg) Thornbury of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Ruth (Merle) Rossman of Tiskilwa; one brother, Richard Jensen of Spring Valley; one granddaughter, Jessica Thornbury of Dallas, Texas; and other relatives.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Mo., with the Rev. Jason McCray officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo.
Visitation was held Friday night at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Mo.
Roger Kelish
DEPUE -- Roger A. Kelish, 59, of 212 Martanna St., DePue, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at his home.
He was born Sept. 13, 1945, in Spring Valley to Edward and Frances (Piascyk) Kelish.
He was a 1963 graduate of DePue High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1968 on the USS Gaum.
Survivors include four sisters, Carol (William) Greathouse of DePue, Nancy Young of Wyanet, Randa (David) Walters of LaSalle and Jean (Shelton) Matson of Norway; four brothers, Terry and Gary Kelish, both of DePue, William (Louise) Kelish of Hansen, Ky., and Rick Kelish of St. Mary, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Debra Lamkin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Louise Tidaback; and two half brothers, Richard and Edward Kelish.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Saturday, in the Barto Funeral Home, DePue, and at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, DePue, with the Rev. Kevin Creegan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DePue.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today in the funeral home.
Mary Abell
TISKILWA -- Mary Alice Abell, 66, of Route 1, Tiskilwa, died at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Henry.
Born Feb. 1, 1938, in Marshall County to Walter Ryan and Rose Stotler, she married Richard Abell March 2, 1954, in Tiskilwa. He survives.
She was employed at Harper-Wyman Co. in Princeton for 36 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiskilwa.
Also surviving are two sons, Rick (Carol) Abell of Tiskilwa and Tom Abell of Philadelphia, Pa.; one daughter, Marsha (Jim) Madsen of Tiskilwa; one sister, Catherine (Ben) Rosete of Montgomery, Ill.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Scott.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiskilwa, with Father Jeffery Stirniman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Bloom Cemetery, Tiskilwa.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton.

Alwin Carus
LASALLE -- Alwin C. Carus, 102, of 1307 Seventh St., LaSalle, died at 1:10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at his home.
He was born Nov. 20, 1901, in LaSalle to Paul and Mary (Hegeler) Carus.
He and all of his siblings had early home schooling and then graduated from LaSalle-Peru Township High School. He majored in chemistry and physics at the University of Chicago.
He worked in the research laboratory at Carus Chemical Co. until he retired. He also owned and helped operate farms and ranches in Killdeer in the Badlands of North Dakota along the Little Missouri River and 200 miles northwest of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in the Peace River Valley.
He went to Iraq and Turkey in the 1950s to visit ancient archeological sites with a graduate of the Oriental Institute, University of Chicago. He joined several expeditions with renowned astronomers to journey to the best places to view solar eclipses. In all, he witnessed 12 eclipses of the sun.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews, Mary Louis Carus Mahdi, Paul Carus, Theodate Carus Harter, Blouke Carus, Edward Carus Jr., Bill Barnes, Edward Barnes and Fred Carus; 21 great-nieces and great-nephews; 11 great-great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great-niece.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be private. Private burial services will be at sunset on Sunday.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home, LaSalle.
Memorials may be directed to the Alwin Carus Memorial Fund for restoration of the mansion.
Mary Adams
WALNUT -- Mary C. Adams, 74, a resident of Walnut Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Tampico, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Walnut Manor.
She was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Tampico to Robert B. and Vera E. (Foley) Adams.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Sterling, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico.
Survivors include two brothers, James L. (Carol) Adams of St. Louis, Mo., and Charles (Ida Mary) Adams of Tampico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tampico, with the Rev. Jesus Dominguez, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the services in the church.
Memorials may be directed to Walnut Manor Nursing Home.
