Rex Morse
MALDEN -- Rex L. Morse, 79, of 308 Locust St., Malden, died at noon Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
Born Oct. 10, 1925, in Davis County, Iowa, to Julius and Edith (Rhodes) Morse, he married Nancy B. Washer June 2, 1946, in the Boyd Grove Church. She died Dec. 22, 2003.
He was a carpenter and did construction.. He was a 1943 graduate of Wyanet High School.
He was a member of the Malden Methodist Church and a past member of the Malden Fire Department.
Surviving are one daughter, Nancy Susan (Kevin) Hale of Tiskilwa; three sons, Richard (Jyl) Morse, Micheal (Colleen) Morse and Gary (Mariann) Morse, all of Malden; two brothers, Wendell Morse of Wyanet and Max (Pat) Morse of Elmwood; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randal Morse; one brother, Ward (Ethyl) Morse; and one grandson, Justin.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Malden Methodist Church with the Rev. Alan Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.
Visitation will be one hour before the services in the church.
The Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Zulz
WENONA -- Mary Frances Zulz, 66, of Wenona died at 1:05 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.
Born Sept. 2, 1938, in Springfield to Edward and Frances (Robertson) Carnduff, she married Deacon Charles P. Zulz Oct. 20, 1956, in St. Mary's Church in Wenona. He survives.
She was a graduate of Springfield High School. She worked at Oak State Products in Wenona for 23 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, where she was a member of the choir and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Wenona American Legion Auxiliary. She made Cursillo 488 in Peoria.
Also surviving are her mother of Springfield; three sons, Mark (Mary Jo) Zulz of Washburn, Matthew Zulz of Wenona and Mike (Sheila) Zulz of Hudson; one daughter, Michelle (Todd) Rippel of Rutland; two brothers, Robert (Kathy) Carnduff of Chatham and Michael (Kathy) Carnduff of Pleasant Plains; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and two grandsons.
Services were held Monday in St. Mary's Church, Wenona, with the Rev. Terry Cassidy, Monsignor Charles Beebe and the Rev. Ray Guthrie concelebrating, assisted by Deacons Vince Slomian and Ronald Rager. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wenona.
Visitation and a prayer service were held Sunday in the church. Visitation also was held Monday in the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Wenona Ambulance Defibrillator Fund or St. Mary's Church in Wenona.
The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona was in charge of arrangements.
Alba Cresto
SEATONVILLE -- Alba Cresto, 88, of Seatonville died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at her son's home in rural Ohio, Ill., after a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 3, 1916, in Standard to Valentine and Lena (Vigette) Data, she married Frank Cresto Sept. 29, 1934, in Chicago. He died July 29, 1976.
She worked for N.O.A. in Ladd for many years, and was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Seatonville.
Surviving are two sons, Jim (Claire) Cresto of rural Ohio, Ill., and John Cresto of Rockford; one brother, John (Elenore) Data of Frankfurt; four grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Matthew and April; one great-grandson; and nieces.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Seatonville, with the Rev. Harold Datzman, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be in the Ladd Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, in the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to St. Margaret's Hospice.
Marilyn Wallace
WALNUT -- Marilyn R. Wallace, 86, of 104 Fifth St., Walnut, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Walnut.
Born Nov. 23, 1918, in Walnut to LeRoy Glen and Lelia (Minier) Smith, she married Allen Wallace on June 20, 1943, in Walnut. He died on Nov. 25, 2002.
She was an elementary school teacher for 60 years in Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, Ill., and Walnut. She was a member of the Walnut United Methodist Church, O.E.S., Bryant Club and Women's Club. She was a 1936 graduate of Walnut High School and attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, for two years.
Survivors include two sons, Lynn Wallace of Machesney Park, and Kevin (Sonja) Wallace of Rantoul; one sister, Janice (Edgil) Bruce of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents and one sister also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut, the Rev. Paul Nolden, pastor of the Walnut United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Walnut Manor Nursing Home.
W. Kenneth Brady
NEPONSET -- W. Kenneth "Ken" Brady, 88 of Neponset died at 6:35 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at Kewanee Hospital.
Born on Nov. 15, 1916 in Buda to William E. and Jennie (Driscoll) Brady, he married Helen M. Stabler on Sept. 19, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa. She died on Nov. 5, 1991. He then married Marjorie J. (Tucker) Kares on Feb. 27, 1993, in Neponset. She survives.
He graduated from Neponset High School in 1934 and was a farmer all his life. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Neponset.
Also surviving are two sons, Don (Mary) Brady of Neponset, and Ron Brady of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Sandy (Dick) Heise of Neponset and Pat (Russell) Loverude of New Lenox; a brother, John Brady of Prophetstown; a sister-in-law, Billye Brady of Tampico, and a stepson; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
His parents, a grandson, Robert Heise, and a brother, Francis Brady, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee, the Rev. Mark Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, Neponset.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Neponset, the Buda Rescue, or a charity of the donor's choice.
Donald Towne
OTTAWA -- Donald "Gerry" Towne, 55, of Ottawa died on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at his home.
Born May 24, 1949, in Spring Valley to Donald L. and Dolores G. (Bell) Towne, he married Delfina G. "Fina" Rubio March 5, 1971, in Ottawa. She survives.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, and a former member of the Ottawa Moose Lodge.
Also surviving are his father of Ottawa; three sons, Brian of Omaha, Neb., Shane (Jennifer) of Ottawa, and Reid of Ottawa; three sisters, Pamela S. Cannon of Ottawa, Vickie L. Towne of Albuquerque, N.M., and Julie (Larry) Ruiz of Ottawa; and five grandchildren, Mandy, Cody, Travis, Chase and Jason Towne.
His mother, grandparents, and one sister, Linda in infancy, all preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at noon Monday in the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, the Rev. Dale Kartcher of Community Hospital of Ottawa Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
