Jean Koch
MENDOTA -- Jean Koch, 84, formerly of Ladd, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mendota, where she had resided the past three years.
Born Feb. 17, 1920, in Ladd to John and Elizabeth (Eustice) Chioni, she married Raymond G. Koch Oct. 21, 1939. He died Sept. 8, 1970.
She worked as a waitress in Rip's Tavern in Ladd for many years.
She was a member of the Hollowayville United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aid of the church.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen (Ralph) Burkart of Peru; one son, William Koch of Spring Valley; three sisters, Betty Corsolini of Ladd, Vera Shaffer of Peoria and Kathleen Lowder of Georgia; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and one grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Hollowayville United Church with the Rev. Michael Slutz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, in the Hurst Funeral Home, Ladd, and after 10 a.m. Friday in the church.
Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
Harry Cosgrove Jr.
PRINCETON -- Harry J. "Buck" Cosgrove Jr., 81, formerly of Peru, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Prairie View Healthcare in Princeton.
He was born March 28, 1923, in Peru to Harry J. and Christine (Heuser) Cosgrove.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Peru.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert (Clare) Cosgrove of Peru and Donald Cosgrove of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and two sisters, Pat (Walter) Gatza of Oglesby and Judith (Garnett) Allen of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, in the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Peru, with the Rev. Henry Fritz, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent's Cemetery, LaSalle.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. today, Thursday, in the funeral home.
Marie Foss
WALNUT -- Marie Foss, 84, a resident of Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Walnut, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at the home.
Born Feb. 9, 1920, in Manlius Township to Harvey and Lillie (Floyd) Hornback, she married Harold C. Foss Dec. 24, 1937, in Walnut. He died Oct. 20, 1995.
She worked at Wilner Motor Sales in Walnut as a bookkeeper for many years and was then the Walnut librarian for about 10 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the Red Oak United Methodist Church, the circle at the church, the Dodge Club, Green River Country Club for many years, the library board for many years and was president of the board prior to building the library.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (James) Bishop of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Janice (Robert) McKanna of Rock Falls; two brothers, Floyd (Lois) Hornback and Harold Hornback, both of Princeton; one sister, Ruth (Lloyd) Sabin of Princeton; four grandchildren, Brad (Kara) Bishop of Sugar Grove, Brenda Schierl of Hanna City, and Matthew and Ryan McKanna, both of Rock Falls; three great-granddaughters, Hannah Schierl of Hanna City, and Abigail and Zoe Bishop of Sugar Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Red Oak United Methodist Church, Walnut, with the Rev. Robert Meador, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut.
Memorials may be directed to the Walnut Manor Nursing Home.
Paul Ramirez
LECLAIRE, Iowa -- Paul Ramirez, 58, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa, formerly of Sheffield, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Trinity at Terrace Park Hospital in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Born June 30, 1947, in Harlingen, Texas, to Agraciano and Antonia (Romero) Ramirez, he married Mary M. Miller April 16, 1977, in Bettendorf, Iowa. She survives.
He was employed as an assembler with John Deere Harvester in East Moline since 1974. In earlier years, he worked for 10 years at Bear Manufacturing.
He was a member of the United Auto Worker Union, Local 865, of East Moline.
Also surviving are three children, Paul J. Ramirez of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Alisha Ramirez and Antonio M. Ramirez of LeClaire, Iowa; three sisters, Maria Miller and Norma Zamora, both of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Carmen Ramirez of Iowa City, Iowa; five brothers, Yesical "Danny" of Springfield, Ohio, Carlos of Bettendorf, Iowa, Emecio "Terry" of Green Rock, and Raphael and Agraciano Jr., both of Davenport, Iowa; three grandchildren, Antonio Jr., Isabella Marie and Dakota Andrew; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Danny Allen Ramirez; and one brother-in-law, John P. Miller.
Services were held Thursday in the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park.

Mildred Thome
ROCK FALLS -- Mildred M. Thome, 85, of 620 W. 13th St., Rock Falls, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Born Nov. 9, 1919, in Tampico to Herbert and Sadie (Renner) Lee, she married Lawrence Thome April 28, 1938, in Iowa. He survives.
She was a cook at Tampico Grade School for 20 years and was a member of the Tampico United Methodist Church.
Also surviving is one son, Larry (Judy) Thome of Tampico; one daughter, Jerria (Neil) Cady of Rock Falls; one sister, Geraldine (Raymond) Braggo of Tampico; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Herbert Lee Jr.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Tampico United Methodist Church with the Rev. Monty Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Saturday, in the Garland Funeral Home, Tampico.

Nancy Ceresa
PERU -- Nancy L. Ceresa, 69, of Peru died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at the home of her daughter in Arlington after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 9, 1935, in LaSalle, to Arthur and Frances (Walgenbach) Trillet, she married Charles Ceresa July 6, 1974, in Spring Valley. He died in 1983.
She worked at Sundstrand and Debo Hardware as a bookkeeper, and in several area doctor's offices. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School and attended Illinois Valley Community College.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Mission Circle at the church. She was a past worthy matron of the Amaranth chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are one daughter, Nanette (Dennis) Gillan of Arlington; two brothers, Arthur (Ann) Trillet of Plainfield and Ronald (Jean) Trillet of Watseka; and six grandchildren, Jeff (Liza) Gillan of Mendota, and Jessica, Rebecca, Neil, Jasmine and Andrew Gillan of Arlington.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Services were held Friday in the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru, with Pastor Glenn Foster of the First Baptist Church, LaSalle, officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Tonica.
