Mr. Hipona was a freshman at Northern Illinois University. He is survived by parents Arnold and Rosemarie Hipona and grandparents Rebecca and Edison Hipona. Visitation takes place Friday from 3-9 p.m. at Meadows Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Colette Church.

Age 70
Carol Shirley Shaw (nee Hickman) of Rolling Meadows died Nov. 25 at her home. A supervisor for Market Fax for 33 years, she was born Feb. 18, 1935 in Chicago. preceded in death by husband Robert E., Mrs. Shaw is survived by daughter Nancy; grandchild Tristan E.; siblings Beverly Lowe, Mary Kathern Mallow and William Pugh; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation takes place Friday at Meadows Funeral Home From 2-9 p.m. Services are Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home before interment at St. Lucas cemetery in Chicago. A funeral service for Nancy H. Broman, 72, of Des Plaines, took place Saturday, Dec. 17, 11 a.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Visitation took place Friday, Dec. 16, 3 to 9 p.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Born in Chicago on Nov. 12, 1933, Ms. Broman worked as an artist. Ms. Broman died Monday, Dec. 12, at Rush North Shore Hospital.
Ms. Broman is survived by her son Richard (Barbara) M. Saklak; daughter Diane (Tom) Saklak-Kretschmar; four grandchildren; and brother Leroy (Nancy) Broman.

Age 45
Niles resident Dawn Femmel DeCicco passed away Dec. 7. She was born Aug. 21, 1960 in Park Ridge. Services were held Dec. 9-10 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. The deceased made her living as an office manager for a construction company.
Mrs. DeCicco is survived by husband Tony DeCicco; son Carmen "CJ" DeCicco; parents John and Anne (nee Duchaj) Femmel; brother Jack (Peggy) Femmel; sisters Jill (Lee) Miller and Denise (Alan) Medans; nephews Adam Femmel and Scott and Brad Miller; nieces Vicky Femmel, Leah (Mark) Buchek and Hannah and Debra Madans; and grand-nieces Morgan and Megan Bucheck. A funeral Mass for Connie Felsenthal (nee Raino), 79, of Park Ridge, was held Monday, Dec. 19 at Mary Seat of Wisdom Church. Interment was in St. Joseph cemetery. Mrs. Felsenthal passed away Dec. 15. She served for 35 years as democratic judge of elections, first ward, 93d precinct.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Robert (Claire), Keith and Greg (Cindy); grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Marcia, Maria, Paul and Marc; siblings, Rosalie (late John) Federici, Pauline (late Frank) Rizzo, Nick (Jackie) Raino and Mary Lou (late Gordon) Carter; and her many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass for Ann Marie Knapp, 89, of Niles, was celebrated Dec. 17 in St. John Brebeuf Church. Interment followed in All Saints cemetery. Arrangements were by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles. A native of Chicago, she died Dec. 14 in Brighton Gardens Nursing Home. She was a long-time employee of Sears Roebuck and Co. and was an active member of St. John Brebeuf Parish and the Golden Agers group.
Widow of the late Frank Joseph Knapp, she is survived by sons Frank (Dorothy) and Anthony (Peggy); grandchildren Kevin (Kristi), Peter (Jennifer), Daniel (Stacy), and David; and siblings Matthew (Lorrie) Mirek, Wally Mirek, Celia Zurawski, and Helene Bednarz Panzika. She was preceded in death by a brother, Andy Mirek. Memorials are requested to Heartland Hospice in Lake Bluff, IL.

Shirley A. Moragne, who had lived in Des Plaines for four years after living in Chicago, passed away Dec. 14 at Glenbrook Hospital. Born Dec. 27, 1956 to James P. Moragne Sr. and Mary L. Moragne (nee Smith) in Due West, S.C., Ms. Moragne was a longtime employee of USG Corp. and a part-time employee of TCF Bank in Schiller Park.
Ms. Moragne is survived by son Charles (Teri) Moragne of Des Plaines; daughter Krysti (Will) Barksdale of Arlington Hts.; mother Mary L. Moragne; sisters Barbara Elayne Moragne and Wanda Joyce; brothers Rev. James P. Moragne Jr. and Michael Moragne; and three grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Severinošs River Woods Funeral Chapels in Des Plaines.

A funeral service for Mary Agnes Neuman, 90, took place on Saturday, Dec. 17, 10 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Church, Park Ridge. Miss Neuman was a longtime resident of Park Ridge and retired librarian. She died on Friday, Dec. 9 at St. Matthew Center for Health. Miss Neuman was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances Neuman; sister Ruth, and closest friend, Mildred Carpenter. She is survived by her niece Ann; and nephews Ryan and Robert Christiansen.

DONALD PAUL PALM
Age 80
Donald Paul Palm, a resident of Elk Grove Village for 24 years, passed away Dec. 17 at Alexian Bros. Medical Center. He was remembered with a Mass at Queen of the Rosary Church in Chicago and laid to rest at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines.
Mr. Palm was preceded in death by brothers Robert (Elsie) and Kerchival (Rose Mary) and sisters Kathryn Darsch, Marge Rau and Adele (Robert) Yundt. Survivors include brother Herbert (Shirley) and sisters Virginia (Howard) Rau, Frances Schmidt, Delores (Donald) Frantz, Rose Mary Zemke and Patricia (Paul) Mertz. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends.
ROGER J. PATZER
WW II Veteran, Civil Engineer
A funeral service for Roger J. Patzer, 81, took place on Saturday, Dec. 17, 11 a.m. at Meadows Funeral Home with visitation held prior to the service on Friday, 3 to 8 p.m. Interment took place at Memory Gardens cemetery, Arlington Hts. Born in Chicago on March 5, 1924, Mr. Patzer was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army in the 373rd Engineering Regiment and the 82nd Airbourne Div. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois. A retired civil engineer and land developer, Mr. Patzer was founder and president of Applied Engineering and Evergreen Development. He was also one of the founding trustees of Elk Grove Village. Mr. Patzer died on Monday, Dec. 12 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Patzer was preceded in death by his parents August and Katherine (nee Ewald) Patzer; five sisters and three brothers. Mr. Patzer is survived by his wife Edie (nee Heimerl); daughters Janet (Steve Hubbard), Barbara Martinek; son Paul (Ellen); three grandchildren; brother Arthur (late Virginia), Julian (Isabel) and sister Geri (Vince) Bugarin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial Mass for Kathleen J. Schlenker (nee Schweigert), 58, took place on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 11:30 a.m. at St. Marcelline Church, in Schaumburg. Inurnment took place at Momence cemetery in Momence, Ill. Born in Kankakee on June 13, 1947, Mrs. Schlenker was an employee at United Airlines Baggage Services. She died on Thursday, Dec. 8 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
Mrs. Schlenker was preceded in death by her parents Francis Bossert and Eula Elouise Schweigert; and her grandparents David and Gertrude Schweigert, and Robert and Frances Burns. Mrs. Schlenker is survived by her sons William, Brett, and Robert; four grandchildren; brothers Francis and Robert; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Raymond Slaninka, 85, of Fallsbrook, Calif., and formerly of Rolling Meadows took place on Monday, Dec. 19, 11 a.m. at the Community Church of Rolling Meadows. Interment took place at Fairview Memorial Park, Northlake. Born in Chicago on March 28, 1920, Mr. Slaninka, a WW II veteran, worked for AT&T; and for Lucent as an electronics engineer for many years.
He died on Monday, Dec. 12 at the Corona Medical Rehabilitation Center in Corona, Calif. Mr. Slaninka was preceded in death by his wife Ethel and his brother Frank Slaninka. He is survived by his daughter Janet (Robert) Hickey; son Raymond M. (Lorna); three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Church of Rolling Meadows. Funeral arrangements were made by Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows.

A funeral service for Fred Joseph Thoma, 78, took place on Friday, Dec. 16, 11 a.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Born in Chicago on Feb. 20, 1927, Mr. Thoma was a tool & dye laborer and navy veteran. He died at Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Mr. Thoma was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Elma (nee Novotny) Thoma.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine (nee Kappler); son Martin (Coleen); daughters Linda (Donald) Jensen, Donna (Dave) Alden; and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Niles Community Church.

A memorial service for Donald E. Wirsing, 68, formerly of Elk Grove, will take place Wednesday, Dec. 28, 8:30 p.m. at Meadows Funeral Home. Memorial visitation will take place Wednesday, Dec. 28, 6:30 p.m. prior to the service at Meadows Funeral Home. Born in Chicago on Apr. 11, 1937, Mr. Wirsing was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army. He later retired from high-tech manufacturing as a purchasing estimator, and tool and die maker. A former resident of Elk Grove, Mr. Wirsing died Tuesday, Nov. 22 in Delton, Fla.
Mr. Wirsing is survived by his wife Esther; children Mark (Karen), Paul, Martin (Esther), Concetta Brunning, Tammie (Robert) Barther, Vickie Odgers, Jerry (Jennifer) Brunning, Lisa (Rob) Kaplin; 17 grandchildren; and brothers Howard (Mary), and Fred (Micky).

Patricia A. Bauer (nee Scheiner) of Rolling Meadows passed away Jan. 24 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. Mrs. Bauer was preceded in death by siblings Laura Zack, Theresa Meier and John R., Robert and James (Cranston) Schreiner. Survivors include husband Robert; children Jeffrey R. and Jon N.
