Mrs Windlow worked as a legal secretary. She is survived by her children Pam (Jim) Amatore and Randolph (Judy) Windlow; grandchildren Tammy (Wendell) Simpson, Jerry, Jim Jr. (Molly) Armatore and Christopher Armatore; great grandchildren Stephanie, Nicholas, Hunter, Deven, Grace and Jimmy; siblings Tony Semcek, Connie Cody; and friend Tiffany Crissie. She was the daughter of the late Anton Szymczyk and the late Constance Szymczyk. She was a grandmother to the late Randi.
WILLIAM E. BOUBAL
Formerly of Rolling Meadows
Born Apr. 29, 1941 in Chicago, Huntley resident William E. "Bill" Boubal lost his battle with cancer July 29 at his home. Mr. Boubal had lived in Rolling Meadows. Mr. Boubal worked for many years as an appliance repairman. He will be fondly remembered by many for his great sense of humor. Preceding Mr. Boubal in death were father Edward F. Boubal; brother Edward W. Boubal; and nephew Keith Caccitolo. Survivors include Bette (nee Janovsky) Boubal, his wife of 37 years. Also surviving are children Amy (David) Horton, Michael (Julie) Boubal and Daniel (Iris) Kirchen; grandchildren Derek and Sarah Horton, Nathan Boubal and Lea and Ida Kirchen; mother Nessie Mueller; sisters Diane (Ernest) Caccitolo and Kathleen (Larry) Miller; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. A funeral service for James Peter Œ'Jimmy'' Coclanis, 76, took place on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at SS. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, in Glenview. Interment was at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood. Visitation was Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home. Mr. Coclanis was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a Purple Heart recipient. He is survived by his wife Artemis; his children Janet (Wally) Johns, Catherine (Harry) Nickel and Christina (Brett) Loding; his grandchildren Diana (Jared) Price, Maryann Johns, Greg and Steve Tonsul, Coleen, Brett Jr., Alexander, Lucas and Lauren Loding; his siblings Christina (the late Peter) Giannikas and Angelo (Katherine) Coclanis; his sister-in-law Nina (the late Peter) Moozakis; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret R. Cowan (nee Frazier) died July 26, 2006 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. Born Dec. 5, 1928 in Chicago, she married
Kenneth. They raised two daughters, Paula and Patricia Cowan. Their grandchildren were Elizabeth and Jennifer Hall and Patricia Cowan. Mrs. Cowan had two sisters, Frances Young and Dorothy Anderson, and a brother, the late Donald Frazier. Visitation and the funeral were Sunday, July 30. Burial was private.
JOSEPHINE GUMIENIAK
Age 105
Josephine Niedzielski Gum-ieniak passed away July 29 at the age of 105. She was born in Poland Oct. 1, 1900. Mrs. Gumieniak was a seamstress. The Niles resident was celebrated with services at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, St. John Brebeuf Church and Maryhill cemetery. Mrs. Gumieniak was preceded in death by parents Antonia and Jozef Karpinski. She is survived by son Eugeniusz Niedzielski and daughters Teresa Sokolowski and Henryka De Vargas. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service for Shirley P. Kozak, 81, of Des Plaines, was held July 27 in Matz Funeral Home, Mt. Prospect. Interment was private. A native of Chicago, she died July 24 in her home. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred T. Surviving are daughter Kimberly Kelly; son Kenneth (Jane); grandchildren Allison, Annie, Clifford, Amy, and Philip; and a sister, Dorothy (the late Ed) Hemmer.

A funeral Mass for Robert H. Langstaff, 90, will take place on Friday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond de Penafort Church in Mt. Prospect. He will lie in state at the church starting at 9 a.m. Interment will be at St. Adalbert cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, Aug. 10 from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mr. Langstaff was born on Apr. 6, 1916 in Chicago. He worked as an electrical engineer until his retirement in 1991. He died on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006 in Des Plaines. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Grace T., nee Bonick. He is survived by his daughters Joyceann (Louis F.) Pierozzi and Nancylou Carlson; his grandchildren George Brian (Jessica) Wade, Robert Christopher Wade, Melissa Ann (Rich) Ferris, Heather Ann (Raymond) Schaefer, Scott Paul Carlson, Christine M. Prominent Des Plainesite
Evelyn Marow, 93, a former active leader in Des Plaines civic and religious organizations, died July 22 in Indianola, Iowa, where she lived in recent years. No funeral service was held and burial was private. A native of Chicago, she attended Lake View High School. She married
T. Arthur (Art) Marow in 1936. In 1959, the couple moved to Des Plaines where Art worked for the C.J. Lauer Insurance Agency and later owned the agency. In Chicago, she was the first woman to be a board member of a YMCA. In Des Plaines, she was chairman of the United Way campaign, helped organize the United Church of Christ, and became an active member of the First Congregational Church on Graceland Avenue. She was active in the Lattof YMCA, was a member of PEO Chapter HL, Tri Psi, and was a member of Rolling Green Country Club. Her husband, Art, preceded her in death in 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Arlette (Glenn) Kuehl of Indianola, and Gail (Frank) Gerig of Woodland Park, Colorado; two grandsons, Brent (Gail) Kuehl of Maple Grove, MN, and Kurt (Jane) Kuehl of Montpelier, VT; and three-great-grandsons, Baker, Brenden, and Cameron Kuehl of Maple Grove. Memorials are requested to the Evelyn Marow Memorial Fund at First Congregational Church in Des Plaines.

Max A. Mergle, 74, passed away on Aug. 4 at his home in Elk Grove Village. Mr. Mergle had lived in Elk Grove Village for 43 years, while employed for 33 years by Allstate Insurance Co. Visitation was conducted Aug. 7 at Grove Memorial Chapel. The funeral Mass was offered at Queen of the Rosary Church on Aug. 8. Mr. Mergle is survived by his wife, Diane (nee Wade), and his sons, Christopher A. and Michael I. (Genevieve Salvacion). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family appreciates memorials to be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.

Leonard A. Milewski, 76, of Rolling Meadows, passed away at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Aug. 4. Visitation was held at Meadows Funeral Home on Aug. 8. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Colette Church, 3900 Meadow Dr., Rolling Meadows. Mr. Milewski was born in Chicago in 1930. He worked as a purchasing agent for ACCO International for many years. Mr. Milewski devoted his entire life to working with the Boy Scouts, and was an Eagle Scout coordinator, helping over 100 scouts achieve the Eagle rank. He received the highest honor within the Order of the Arrow. Mr. Milewski is survived by his wife, Barbara (nee Witt), of 54 years, and his children, Robert (Donna), Pam (Kenneth) Grayer, Diane (Jim) Boler, and Tim (Ljiljana) Mileski. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Natasha, Meaghan and Jaida Grayer; Alex and Ben Boler; and Jeremy and Severina Milewski. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph (Ann) Milewski; his sister, Pat (Bud) Rupp; his sister-in-law Judith (late Russell) Pahl, and Jeanne (Robert) Fischer. Mr. Milewski is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions can be made to the Boy Scouts of America or to the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers.

Visitation took place Friday, Aug. 4 at the Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mrs Sarafim worked for Northwest Community Hospital in food services for 12 years. She is survived by her husband John Sarafim; children Kathey P. (Andreas) Charalambous, Panagiota S. Sarafim and Nicky N. Sarafim; grandchildren Georgia A. and Ioanna K. Charalambous; siblings Tina (the late Peter) Mandas, Frances (Peter) Kourtis, George (Mary) Vassos William (Margaret) Vassos and James Vassos. She was preceded in death by her brother Gus Vassos and Tasia (George) Doris. Interment was at Memory Gardens of Arlington Heights.
WILBERT E. SCHEER
Veteran of WWII
Wilbert E. Scheer, 97, passed away at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. on Aug. 4. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Scheer was born in Chicago in 1909, and worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield as a personnel director for over 25 years. Visitation was on Aug. 6 at the Lutheran Home where funeral services were conducted the following day. He was interred at Ridgewood cemetery in Des Plaines. Mr. Scheer was preceded in death by his wife Erna. He is survived by his children Arlene Tharp and Stephany (Keith) Oestreich. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephen and Scott Tharp; Elizabeth (Howard) Shaw, and Mark and Christopher Oestreich. He is great grandfather to Emily Shaw.Mr.Scheer also is survived by his siblings, Adele Schultz, Deloris Winkelman, Gertrude Wetterman, and Harold Scheer. A graveside service for Mary A. Schroeder (nee Fitzsimmons), 86, took place on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Fayetteville National cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark. officiated by Rev. Laura Fleetwood. Visitation was on Monday, Aug. 7 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Mrs. Schroeder was born on Jan. 4, 1920 in Evanston where she was raised and educated before moving to Arkansas. She was a member of the Bella Vista Round Dancers organization, the Bella Vista Community Church and the Alpha Phi Fraternity. She died on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at a nearby nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman and her parents Francis and Martha (nee Hoffman) Fitzsimmons. Her sons, Art and Bob Schroeder, her daughter Annette Robek, and her daughter-in-law Carolyn Ryan survive her. Callison-Lough Funeral Home made funeral arrangements.

A Celebration of Life service for Mark J. Waltz, 63, took place Saturday, August 5 at the South Park Church in Park Ridge. Mr Waltz was a respected business man and former president of Waltz Brothers and TMA and a board member of Bloomingdale Bank. He was a spiritual guide to many and gave the gift of music to many as an accomplished musician and charter member of the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra. He is survived by his wife Karin Waltz; children Kaaron Waltz, Joel (Tracy) Waltz, Kristin (Doug) Engerman; grandchildren Alyse, Josie, Jonah, Tatum, Lexi, Max; sister Melody (Ken) Jorgensen; and mother-in-law Dorothy Shea.

Susan M. Weinberg, 53, who grew up in Des Plaines, died on Sunday, Aug. 6 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Weinberg was involved in the library, senior center, Des Plaines Art Council and First Congregational Church. She was born March 18, 1953 in Chicago. According to Des Plaines Public Library Director, Sandra Norlin, Susan Weinberg was appointed to the Des Plaines Public Library Board of Trustees in 2003. She served on the Finance and Planning Committees, was Board's liaison to the North Suburban Library System's Board of Directors. She also served on the library's Do the Dewey fundraiser committee. "Susan Weinberg will be missed in many ways, but most of all for her public devotion. She was generous with her time and intelligence and tireless in her energy, always planning and working to improve the quality of life for all of Des Plaines' residents.
"She was a very devout and committed Christian who was very active in her church and had many friends, " stated Rev. William Grice III. " She was a lay liturgist who read scripture on Sunday mornings, participated in Bible Study and was a church usher." Ms Weinberg was preceded in death by her parents Harold E. Weinberg, Ret. C.F.D and Anne T. Weinberg (nee Ryan), sister Nancy Denzler and brother Harold E. Weinberg II. She is survived by her sister, Debra (Saul) Friedman, brother, Daniel (Nancy) Weinberg; nieces and nephews: Kirsten Denzler, Brandon Weinberg, Courtney Weinberg, Nathan Friedman and Annie Friedman. Memorial visitation will be on Friday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. at Oehler Funeral Home, Arlington Hts. Chapel, 2000 E. Northwest Hwy., Arlington Hts. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be given to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service for Ellen J. Boyer (nee Evans), 80, took place on Saturday, Aug. 19, at The Glenview Community Church in Glenview. Interment was private in Racine, Wisc. Mrs. Boyer was born on Mar. 25, 1926 in Racine, Wisc. She lived in both Wisconsin and Colorado before moving to Glenview where she lived for 45 years. She was a longtime substitute teacher for school districts 34 and 225 and also taught in Stanley, Wisc. She was a very active member of the Glenview Community Church. She died on Aug. 16, 2006 in Glenview. Her husband Richard 'Dick' Boyer; her children Sharon (Stephen) Neece, Susan (Robin) Woodsome and Tracy (Mark) Sawires; her grandchildren Matthew, Erik, Evan and Nicholas; and her siblings Richard (Charmond) Evans and Thomas (Jean) Evans survive her.

A funeral service for Enrico Costabile, 83, took place on Saturday, Aug. 19 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Friday, Aug. 18 at the funeral home. Mr. Costabile was born on Mar. 17, 1923 in Calabria, Italy. He worked for General Electric and died on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006. His parents, Frank and Raffaela (nee Sicilia) Costabile, his sister Ida (late Luigi) Vivacqua and his brother Michael (Mary) Costabile, preceded him in death. His wife Ida Costabile; his sons Frank (Teresa) Costabile and Luigi Costabile; his grandchildren Enrico "Ricky" and Michelie and many nieces and nephews survive him.
