Robert "Bob" Crittendon, who had lived in Prospect Hts. for 12 years, died at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. He was 66 years old. Mr. Crittendon, who worked for 16 years as a maintenance man at Rapid Solutions Group in Prospect Hts., was born in Kentucky and will be buried there after services Saturday. A visitation will be held today (Wednesday) at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines from 3-9 p.m. Mr. Crittendon is survived by wife Dolores M. (nee Benson); sons Bobby (Rosemary), Jerry (Joy) and Billy (Beth); sisters Mildred Vires, Alma (Ken) Hopper and Liz Benson; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Of Niles
A funeral service for Irene H. Dzieglewicz, 81, (nee Cizewski), took place on Monday, July 24 at St. Monica Church. Interment was at St. Adalbert cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday, July 23 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Mrs. Dzieglewicz was born on Sept. 1, 1924. She worked as a hostess at the Ridgemoor Country Club and was a member of Park Ridge VFW Post 3579. She also served as the secretary of the Senior Polka Assoc. North and the St. Monica Senior Club. She died on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. Her parents Felix and Mary (nee Hytro) Cizewski preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Raymond E., her children Judith (Phillip) Tobie and Joyce Ann Adams; her grandchildren Gregory (Donna) and Douglas (Caroline); her great-grandchildren Brienne, Jackson and Brandon; her step-children Darlene (Ron) Betts and Pamela (John) Tomasiewicz; her step-grandchildren Kelley, Jeffrey, Kristen and Dawn (Kevin); her sister Jean Zierdan and her sister-in-law Ann Cizewski.
JOHN W. GALLAGHER
40 Years in Elk Grove
John "Jack" W. Gallagher died Tuesday, Aug. 15 at Alexian Bros. Medical Center at the age of 69. Born in Chicago, he was an Army soldier and retired from the vending industry. His home was voted "favorite place in Elk Grove Village" in September 2000, and he loved to fish at his Wisconsin vacation house with his grandsons, Nicholas, John and Christian Kohler and Daniel and Jack Gallagher. He spent 47 years with Anne "Dolly" (nee Faso) and with her raised Joseph M. (Julie), Debbie and Donna M. (William) Kohler. Mr. Gallagher is also survived by his sister, Mary Morales, many nieces, nephews and friends and his father-in-law, Joseph Faso. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Gallagher and Mary Lundquist, and mother-in-law, Rose Faso. Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 17, with funeral the following day at St. Julian Eymard Church. He was entombed at All Saints Mausoleum.

A funeral service for Virginia B. Gancarz, 84, took place on Monday, Aug. 14 at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment was at St. Adalbert cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday, Aug. 13 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Mrs. Gancarz was born on Jan. 15, 1922 in Chicago. She worked as a homemaker and died on Thursday, Aug. 10 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter S., her parents Cyril and Michalina Wardach and her sisters Florence (late Chester) Nowak and Irene (late Erick) Salander. She is survived by her children Thomas (Dee) Gancarz, Richard (Patricia) Gancarz, James (Marcia) Gancarz, and Laura (Roman) Skyba; her grandchildren Jennifer (Edward) Czyz, Michael (Kathleen), Larissa, Michael, Jonathan, Joseph, and Daniel; her great-grandchildren Matthew and Mandy; and many nieces and nephews.

Niles resident Mary C. Hejnicki passed away Friday at Lutheran General Hospital. She was born June 21, 1914 in Chicago. Mrs. Hejnicki was a homemaker. Her life was celebrated with services Tuesday at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Our Lady of Ransom Church and Maryhill cemetery. She was preceded in death by husband Raymond Hejnicki; brothers Robert (Gwen) and Walter (Lois) Brown; and parents Walter and Mae (nee Ryan) Brown. Survivors include daughters Carol (Mike) Travaglio and Pat (John) Schaefer; son Bob (Kathy) Hejnicki; grandchildren Kim and Dean (the late MaryAnn) Travaglio, Mark (Cherese) and Sandi Schaefer, Karen (Dave) Mullenhoff, Jennifer (John) Buberle, Dena (Joe) Steimla and Deb (Greg) Spears; great-grandchildren Dana, Amanda, Tony, Danielle, Paige, Joey and Jonathan; and many nieces and nephews.
NEIL B. HOWLIN
Of Des Plaines
A funeral Mass for Neil B. Howlin, 97, took place today, Aug. 25, at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Visitation was early this morning at Oehler Funeral Home. Mr Howlin lived in Des Plaines for 60 years. He had various occupations throughout his life, but predominately worked as a manufacturing representative since 1944 for Suburban Metalcraft. He was a national and home guardsman and was a volunteer organizer for Boy Scouts. He was also a band teacher for St. Gregoryis Parish in Chicago, an Elks Club member and an usher for St. Emilyis Parish. He enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening and tending to his squirrels and birds. He is survived by his wife Frieda L. Howlin; children Rev. Carroll Howlin and Charlotte (George) Kautz Demos; grandchildren Jennifer (Scott) Klene, Kathy (Clif) Dahlgren, James (Rachel) Kautz and Laurie (Tim) Travis; great grandchildren Drew, Charlie and C.J. Dahlgren and Tyler and Ryan Klene. Internment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines.

Emily Ruth Jackson of Arlington Hts. died Aug. 18 at Central Du Page Hospital in Winfield. She was born Feb. 22, 1988 in Evanston. Miss Jackson left behind her parents, Peter and Ellen (nee Daly) Jackson, brother Brian and grandfather Albert W. Jackson. Visitation was Tuesday, Aug. 22. Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23 at Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Road in Rolling Meadows. She will be buried in St. Michael cemetery, Palatine.

Irene G. (nee Grace) Kennedy passed away in her 100th year of life at the Rosewood Health Care Center on Aug. 16. Visitation for the Arlington Hts. resident was on Monday, Aug. 21, at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, Arlington Hts. Funeral services were conducted at St. James Church, Arlington Hts., on Tuesday, Aug. 22, followed by interment at All Saints cemetery. Born in Pleasant Valley, IL, Mrs. Kennedy lived in Chicago for a number of years before moving to Arlington Hts. She worked for many years in the Clerics of St. Viator Mission House, as well as The Gray Dove, Inc., Arlington Hts. She was a member of the St. James Womenis Club. Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Kennedy, her daughter, Marilyn (Thomas) Colbert; and one grandson, Daniel Kennedy; as well as three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her son, Thomas P. (Margaret) Kennedy, 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. A funeral Mass for Hans J. Noftz, 76, a 36-year Des Plaines resident, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in St. Mary Church, Des Plaines. Burial will follow in St. Joseph cemetery, River Grove. Arrangements are by River Woods Funeral Chapels, Des Plaines. He was a native of Chicago, a member of the American Legion, and was a gold card member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150. He also was a special forces veteran of the Korean War. Isabella (nee Horcher) Syoen, 88, passed away Aug. 17 at her home in Enid, Okla., where she moved in 1996 after living many years in Arlington Hts. where she was born. Mrs. Syoen was a long-time member of the St. James Church, Arlington Hts., and a member of the Arlington Hts. VFW Post 981 Womenis Auxiliary. She was a health care worker and a girl scout leader. She also was a member of the St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church in Enid, where she volunteered as a Eucharistic minister. Visitation will be on Friday, Aug. 25 at the Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Meadows Funeral Home on Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. Mrs Syoen, who was born in Arlington Hts. on Oct. 25, 1917, was preceded in death by her husband, George E., who she married

(Jeanene), William G., Jerome A., Alexander H. (Lucinda), and David C. Syoen. She also is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth C. (Tim) Richartz. A funeral Mass for Coleman Walsh, 80, of Park Ridge, was celebrated in St. John Brebeuf Church, Niles, on Aug. 15. Burial followed in All Saints cemetery. Arrangements were by Cooney Funeral Home, Park Ridge. A native of County Galway, Ireland, he died Aug. 11. He was a Navy veteran and a retired 39-year employee of Peoples Gas Co. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (nee Walsh). Surviving are children Martin, Margaret (Michael) Amoroso, Barbara, and Ann (Nino) Spuria; grandchildren Matthew (USMC) and Sarah Walsh, Bridget and Colleen Siebold, and Julia, Fiona and Armando Spuria; and siblings Katie Kyne, Monica Machen, Sally Pauls, Eileen Brown, Ina Griffin, Elizabeth Alitto, Paddy Walsh, Bridget Devane, Val Walsh, Margaret Charlemont, Agnes McDonough, Julia Wyndham, Nan Blake, Nora Dundass, and Martin Walsh. John A. Andropolis, 89, of Sheboygan, WI, and Des Plaines, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 18, 2006. Born December 17, 1916, in Sheboygan to Andrew A. and Vasilou (Polites) Andropolis. He was a graduate of Sheboygan High School Class of 1935. John was senior account manager of the Frigidaire Corporation, division of General Motors, and also Advanced Refrigeration of Chicago. Excelling in sports as a young man, he remained an avid sports spectator and family historian of sports trivia. John is the much beloved husband of Dorothy Metscher Andropolis of Sheboygan and the late Elsie Capelle (deceased 2000); dear father of Laurie Whitman (Owen) of La Grange Park, IL; Jay Andropolis (Cindy) of Algonquin, IL, and Robert Andropolis of Montgomery, IL; much-loved Papou of Sam Wheeler, Lizzie Wheeler, Kalista Andropolis, Stephanie Andropolis, Marisa Andropolis, and Jason Andropolis; brother of Georgia Jimos (the late Andrew) of Appleton, . and Dorothy Weyer (the late Robert) of Sheboygan; and was adored by many nieces and nephews who knew him well as "Uncle." Pre-deceased by brother Jacob Andropolis (the late Hazel) and sisters Catherine Varnick (the late Paul) and Helen Georgatsos (the late George). A memorial service was held on Oct. 21 at Ballhorn Chapels, Sheboygan. A funeral service for James A. Beaty, 74, of Elk Grove Village took place on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Queen of the Rosary Chapel. Visitation was the previous day. Mr. Beaty was interred at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Mr. Beaty was owner and founder of Beaty's Insulation of Elk Grove Village since 1971. He also drove a Davidsmeyer bus for special needs children. A Korean War veteran, he received the Purple Heart and the Korean Service Medal. He was a Chinese P.O.W. and a member of the Chosin Few. Mr. Beaty was an avid poker player and a volunteer for Public Action to Deliver Shelter (P.A.D.S.) at Christus Victor Church. He died at home on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Mr. Beaty was preceded in death by his fond brother Edward Beaty. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary V. Beaty (nee Vanderheiden), his loving children Denton W. (Lisa Jarvis) Beaty, Jama L. (Peter) Berger, Mark J. Skinner, Robert J. (Jill) Skinner, Jan M. Skinner, and Mary M. (Hector) Gutierrez, his fond sisters Charlotte Ponticuff, Mary Hale, and Nancy (Dallas) Racine, and his cherished grandchildren Cassie Berger, Brittany Berger, Max Skinner and Anthony Skinner, and Ella Gutierrez. Ms. Bergstrom was interred at Chapel Hills Gardens West in Oakbrook, Ill. Born Aug. 1, 1939, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Bank of Palatine for many years. She passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Manor Care of Rolling Meadows. Ms. Bergstrom was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Ruth Waltrip, and her brother, Glenn (Ann Mae) Waltrip. A funeral service and visitation for Luella Rose Cantrall Cobb took place Thursday, Oct. 19 at the Community Church of Rolling Meadows. Born Oct. 2, 1919 in Fancy Prairie, Ill. the daughter of Young Cantrall and Ruby Mershon, she died Sunday, Oct. 15. Ms. Cobb was raised in the Springfield, Ill. area, attending Springfield High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She received a four year scholarship to attend Illinois State University. After marrying John Cobb of White Heath, Ill., she finished her education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi. Here she received her Masters of Educa tion and an advanced certificate in Educational Psychology. Luella taught elementary classes many years in Springfield, before she and John moved back to Champaign where she began teaching English as a second language (ESL). She later traveled to Decatur on a daily basis and continued to teach ESL. Towards the end of the Vietnam War she and John decided to open their home to young, refugee Vietnamese boys. She and John took in 11. For this and many of her other accomplishments she was awarded the 1978 Human Relations Award from the Illinois Education Association. Luella was an avid member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She judged entries for the DAR scholarship awards for several years while in Champaign as a member and Regent of the Alliance Chapter there. Luella was preceded in death by her brother, Young Cantrall, her sister Ruth Kuizen, and her grandson Jeffrey. She is survived by her brother, William Cantrall, her sons Robert (Lorna) Cobb, Richard (Charlene) Cobb, and Douglas (Beth) Cobb. Also mourning are eleven foster sons and families, her five grandchildren, her three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Jacek B. Cwynar, 34, of Mt. Prospect took place on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. A mass followed at St. John Brebeuf Church. Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 19 and Friday, Oct. 20 at the funeral home. Interment was at St. Adalbert cemetery. Mr. Cwynar was born on Jan. 4, 1972 in Tarnow, Poland. He was a machinist in a factory. He died on Oct. 14, 2006 at Northwest Community Hospital. Mr. Cwynar is survived by his parents Pawel and Romana Cwynar, sister Renata, and grandmother Anna (Eugeniusz) Banek. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins in the Mezyk, Banek, Spala, Szafran, and Kapustka families.

She passed away Monday, Oct. 16 at Lutheran General Hospital. Ms. Dyjak is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Anna (nee Michno) Dyjak. She is survived by her siblings Helen (the late Alexander) Kolinski, Edward Dyjak, Jo (the late Edward) Sanborn, and Walter (Rose) Dyjak, her nieces Donna Kolinski and Debbie (Tom) Diaz, and her grand nieces and nephews Rita, Monica, and Anthony. She was cousin and friend of many.
