Grace R. Idler (nee Moline), a 30-year resident of Elk Grove Village, passed away June 25 at Manor Care Nursing Center. Services were held at Grove Memorial Chapel and Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside. Mrs. Idler was a homemaker and a member of the Shiela Ray Senior Center in Elk Grove. She was preceded in death by husband George W. Idler and brother Lawrence Moline. Mrs. Idler is survived by daughters Grace (Charles) Schwass, Jean (Edward) Earley, Carolyn (Duane) Figurski and Nancy (Sal) De Laurentis; grandchildren Edward, William, Robert, Kenneth, Larry, Ricky and Michael Schwass, Jean Marie Yates, Patrick Earley, Jody Gervens, Susan Thompson and Nicholas De Laurentis; 20 great-grandchildren; and sister Margaret Dickenson.
LARRY P. KENT
Age 67
Larry P. Kent of Rolling Meadows passed away July 6 at the Fountains of Crystal Lake. He was born Sept. 20, 1938 in Chicago and had served for 25 years as a professor at Harper College. A graduate of Ball State University and President of the Phi Beta Kappa fraternity, Mr. Kent had been Head of the English Department at Harper and taught reading and children's literature. He was preceded in death by parents Le Roy and Hariette Kent. Survivors include daughter Carolyn (Jack) Lubecker; grandchildren Aly, A.J. and Shane Lubecker; and brothers Clark and Donald Kent.
STEPHEN A. LATOS
Enjoyed golf, wood work
Born Nov. 28, 1919 in Chicago, Mr. Stephen A. Latos passed away July 2 at his home in Des Plaines. Mr. Latos had lived for many years in Park Ridge. He made his living as an engineer in the electronics industry. He enjoyed bowling, tennis and wood work, and was also an avid golfer. Mr. Latos is survived by wife Elsie (Nee Galis); children Gary, Diane and Ken (Debbie); grandchildren Andrew, Steven, Brandon and Nicole; and brother Edwin (Bertha). Visitation and funeral services took place at Severino's River Woods Funeral Chapels in Des Plaines, followed by interment at All Saints cemetery.
DONNA JEAN LICHNER

Donna Jean Lichner (nee Manton) died at Northwest Community Hospital July 8 at the age of 64. Mrs. Lichner made her living as a floral designer and enjoyed herself by traveling to craft shows. She was preceded in death by father Robert Manton. Mrs. Lichner is survived by husband Robert; children Denita (Greg) Ricci, Lorri (Scott) Werner and Randal (Sanda) and Kirk Lichner; grandchildren Kyler and Mason Wubs, Jenna and Ashlyn Lichner, Haley Mahoney Werner and Payton Werner; mother Katerine Manton; and sister Sharon (William) Sippy. Visitation will take place Thursday at Meadows Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Services are Friday at 11 a.m.

A funeral mass for John M. Livorsi, 40, took place Friday, July 7 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Visitation was held Thursday, July 6 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. He is survived by his father Peter J. Livorsi; mother Henrietta A. (Wojnar) Livorsi, brothers Peter (Amy) T. Livorsi, Ted Livorsi; nephew Jeffrey and niece Kim. Interment was at Maryhill cemetery in Niles.
DARREL I. MEACHAN
Resident of Arlington Hts.
Darrel I. Meachan, 82, of Arlington Hts., passed away July 7 at the Lutheran Home for the Aged. Born in Spencer, Wisc., Mr. Meachan was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. Mr. Meacham was one of the first full-time fireman for Arlington Hts., and retired a captain after over 30 years of service to the community. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bernice (nee Bencic), and his brother, Roy, and sister, Muriel McReynolds. Mr. Meacham is survived by his children Darrel (Jennifer), Dennis (Diane), Dee Koontz, and Denise (Marty) Moravec. He was grandfather of 10, and great grandfather of 1. He is also survived by a sister, Sylvia (Marty) Adler.
GERALDINE D. MURRAY

Geraldine D. Murray, nee Dunlap, 78, passed away July 6 at the Claremont Rehab and Living Center in Buffalo Grove, following her battle with brain cancer. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Murray succeeded in many fields such as politics, government, and private enterprise. At the age of 60, Mrs. Murray began Murray's Pur-Fect + Tours, a travel business that permited she and her husband, the late Donald James, to travel. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Hora, Lynda (Don) McMillin, Donald (Pami), Patrick (Kathleen), Michael (Tori), Joyce (Michael) Prignano, and Janyce (Tom) Farnscell. Mrs. Murray is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Food Salesman
A funeral service for Frank Paul Rutkowski, 91, of Niles, a retired food salesman, was held July 10 in Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Burial followed in Maryhill cemetery. A native of Chicago who worked as a salesman in the food industry, he died July 6 in Rush North Shore Hospital. He was a member of the Niles Senior Men's Club, the Knights of Columbus North American Marty's Council, and was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus Golf League. Surviving are his widow, Lucille (nee Mikolajewski); daughters Diane (Robert) Lind and Linda (Steve); grandchildren Audra (Tae) Kang and Lisa Lind; and great-grandchild Taralynn Kang.

Leonora A. Warych died Saturday, July 1 in Lutheran General Hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1941 in Chicago. The Niles homemaker was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Estelle (nee Kucz) Samborski. She is survived by her husband, Jerome "Jerry" R. Warych of Niles, sons Dan (Denise) of Niles and Jim (Diane), grandchildren Kelly, Ryan and Evan and grandpups. Visitation was Wednesday.

Services were held for Anthony Catalano, 58, of Hoffman Estates June 7. Formerly of Chicago, Catalano died June 4 at St. Alexis Hospital. Interment in Queen of Heaven cemetery, Hillside. Survivors include his former wife Janet "Annie" De Julio; son Anthony, father Leo; brothers Vincent (Marilyn) and Leonard (Veronica).

A funeral service for Nancy L. Garbe, 60, took place Saturday at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Interment was at Acacia Park cemetery. Ms. Garbe died on June 6. She was preceded in death by her father Charles. She is survived by her mother Viola, her siblings James, Richard (Barbara), and Donald (Jackie), and her niece Lydia Garbe. A funeral Mass for Marion G. Gilbert, 86, will take place today (Wednesday, June 14) at St. Mary Church in Des Plaines. Visitation was Tuesday, June 13 at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mrs Gilbert was a resident of Des Plaines for 55 years. For over 20 years, she was a secretary for St. Mary Church. She was also a member of the St. Mary Altar and Rosary Society and a founding member of Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Arthur L. Gilbert; sons Michael (Sharyn) Gilbert, David (Marilys) Gilbert; daughters Janet (Dennis) Flaherty and Joanne Gilbert; brother Thomas (Jean) Gillen; brother-in-law Floyd Gilbert; sister-in-law Helene Wingert; grandchildren Brian (Trish) Gilbert, Kari (Ross) Davidson, Megan Flaherty, Shannon (Mark) Brandow, Kristin (Jason) Kaiser and Douglas (Sandy) Gilbert. Robert E. Jefferson, 38, of Rolling Meadows died June 5, 2006 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Born Aug. 8, 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio he was the finance maanger for the Schaumburg Auto Group. He was the husband of Shalon (nee Brown); father of Robert Jospeh Livingston Jefferson, Paris Brown Jefferson, Desiree Carter and Craig Jefferson; son of Robert and Joyce Jefferson. Services were held at Meadows Funeral Home, Rolling Meadows. Memorials to the Robert Jefferson Fund, Harris Bank, 3225 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows.

A funeral Mass for Frank S. Johnston, 69, took place on Monday, June 12, at St. Raymond Church. Entombment was at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside. Visitation was on Sunday, June 11, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mr. Johnston was born on Feb. 26, 1937 in Chicago. He worked for more than 40 years as an electrician for IBEW Local 134. He died on June 7 at his home in Algonquin. His parents Francis and Margaret Johnston and his sister Mary Ann La Rue preceded him in death. His wife Joan (nee Anderson), his children Lori (Scott) Morman, Frank (Mandy), and Mike (Becky) Johnston, his grandchildren Kyle and Jack Morman, and his brother George Johnston survive him. Visitation was on Tuesday, June 13, at Matz Funeral Home in Mount Prospect. Ms. Markus was born on Aug. 17, 1931 in Chicago. She died on Sunday, June 11 in Park Ridge. Her daughter Dawn Schmidt and her brother Larry Neuman preceded her in death. Her daughter Jill (Alan) Amati, her grandchildren Timothy, Brent, and Kyle, and her nieces and nephews Kim, Scott, Lonnie, and Gregg Neuman survive her. Darleen Metzler (nee Thompson) passed away June 11 at the age of 74. Mrs. Metzler was a Palatine resident who also lived in Schaumburg for many years. Mrs. Metzler, who was born July 5, 1931, was preceded in death by her husband Herbert and siblings Ervin (the late Inez) Thompson, Donna (the late James) Osborne and Mary (the late Beuford) Boak. Mrs. Metzler leaves behind children Susie Badame, Steve (Virginia) Metzler and Stanley (Laurie) Metzler; grandchildren Nathan Billy and Jessica Metzler; great-grandchildren Sebastian and Cheyenne; and siblings Amy Balle and Newell (Anna) Thompson. He was the former owner of Wheeling Funeral Home and Ambulance Service, a four-year member of the Wheeling Zoning Board, and an active member and clerk of Session for the Community Presbyterian Church. A funeral Mass for Willard R. Rodriguez of Elk Grove Village, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, was celebrated June 12 in St. Julian Eymard Church, Elk Grove Village. Burial was in Mt. Carmel cemetery, Hillside. Arrangements were by Grove Memorial Chapel. A native of Madisonville, Louisiana, he died June 8. He was a life-long member of the Austin/West End, Chicago, VFW Post 2955. Surviving are his children, Phillip Sr., (Connie), James (the late Linda), and Carol Ann (Kenneth) Paulsen; grandchildren Phillip Jr., John, Denise, Crafy, Joseph, Tina, Mark, and Alicia; great-grandchildren Lisa, Taylor, Adam, Madison, Andrew, and Austin; and many nieces and nephews.
