Former Des Plaines resident Marion Schutt, 81, of Algonquin died June 8 at her home. Serives were held at a Barrington funeral home. Interment in Evergreen cemetery. Born Feb. 1, 1925 she worked at Lutheran General Hopsital in Park Ridge for 35 years and was the owner of her own Shanlee business for 25 years. She was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Niles where she sang in the choir and was involved with Ladies Aid. Survivors inlcude her children Kristie (Patrick) Tuttle, Kim (Marie) Schutt, Karl (Wally) Sweeney-SMith and Klaudia (Shannon) Haney; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Rosemary McIntyre. She was preceded in death by her husband John; gradndaughter Kyley Sweeney; brother George and sisters Marie Anderson and Ruth Coy. Meorials to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 9081 N. A funeral Mass for James A. Sklena, 63, took place Monday, June 12 at St. Paul of the Cross Church in Park Ridge. Visitation was Sunday, June 11 at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Mr Sklena was a long-time resident of Park Ridge. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Sklena; children Jacob Sklena, Tom (Kim) Sklena, Jim (Jenn) Sklena, Anne (Brendan) Hartford, Amy Ricker, Paul (Usha) Sklena and late Benjamin Sklena; mother Florence (late Matt) Sklena; grandchildren Declan, Hayden, Broden, Kathryn, Lauren, Isabelle, Jade, Caleb, Isabella and Anna; brother Michael (Linda) Sklena. Olga M. Strewe (nee Hogfelt), a resident of Park Ridge since 1954, passed away June 7. A memorial service will take place July 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, located at 205 N. Prospect in Park Ridge. Preceding Mrs. Strewe in death were husband John M. and brothers Arthur (the late Lillian) and Gunnar (the late Dorothy). A funeral Mass for Margaret Stricula (nee Hagan), 76, formerly of Park Ridge, took place on Monday, June 12, at St. Thomas of Villanova Church. Interment was at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery in Palatine. Visitation was on Sunday, June 11, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Palatine. Mrs. Stricula was born on Apr. 24, 1930 in Owensboro, Kent. She died on June 7 at her home. Her husband Walter J. preceded her in death. Her children Dona S. Andersen and Doni S. (James E.) Walbring, her grandchildren Kara Saltzman, Kelly Andersen, Heather Walbring, and Sheri Morris, and her great-grandchildren Abigail Terese Saltzman and Robbie Morris. survive her. Edward C. Tabbert, a resident of Mt. Prospect for 45 years, passed away at his home June 7. Mr. Tabbert was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Army. He retired from Illinois Bell after 30 years of service in 1985. He enjoyed golf, genealogy and the Cubs. Mr. Tabbert leaves behind wife Julia M. (nee Riordan); children Christopher (Christine), Karen, Stephen (Cynthia) and Michael (Patricia); grandchildren Zachary, William, David, Kevin, Isabella, Olivia and Alexander; and 17 nieces and nephews. Services took place Saturday at St. Raymond's Church in Mt. Prospect, followed by burial at All Saints cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the donor's favorite charity or Masses are appreciated.

A funeral Mass for Stanley E. Thomason, 71, took place Wednesday, June 14 at The Meadows Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Visitation was the same day at The Meadows Funeral Home. Mr Thomason was a long time resident of Rolling Meadows. He also worked as a truck driver for many years. He is survived by his wife Jackie Thomason; children Jozette Bennett and Nick Schmidt; brother Larry (Lois), Ron (Cheryl), Spencer (Connie) and Marilyn (Henry); four grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mabel Ann Wilkins (nee Nevius), 91, passed away June 10 at home. A memorial will be conducted at noon on Saturday, June 17, followed by a Mass to be conducted at 12:30 p.m. for Mrs. Wilkins, formerly of Wilmette. Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Wilkins, Sr., her son Albert J. Wilkins, Jr., and her brothers V. Simpson Nevius, Jr., and Gilbert Nevius. She is survived by her children Elizabeth Ann (the late John M.) Luxem, Mary Ann (Van) Graham, Gilbert N. (Linda) Wilkins, and Joann (Don) Skiba. Mrs. Wilkins is also survived by her grandchildren Amy S., Timothy (Amanda) Wilkins, John J. (Carrie) Luxem, Suzanne Luxem, Gerianne (Paul) Wiley; John, Paul, and Virginia Graham; Sara, Patrick and Laura Wilkins. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Helen Nevius. A funeral service for Joseph J. Burke, 91, took place on Thursday, June 1 at St. Mary Church in Buffalo Grove at 10 a.m. Interment was at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 31, at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mr. Burke was born on Oct. 11, 1914 in New York City, New York. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked as a truck driver for 35 years. He was a member of Teamsters Local 705, a former chaplain for the American Legion Post in Wilmette, and a big fan of the Kentucky Derby. He died at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy L. Burke and his siblings Kathleen DeRose, Ann Janssen, Edward Burke, Peter Burke, and Monica Bogardu. He is survived by his sons Mike (Mary) Burke and Jim (Barbara) Burke, his grandchildren Joseph (Julie), Thomas (Nikki), Daniel, Patrick, Michael, Bryan, and Jessica Burke, his great-grandchildren Cassidy and Allison Burke, his siblings Norine Burke and Veronica DeRose, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Robert Cowell, 85, former teacher and curriculum superintendent in Des Planes Elementary School District 62, were held May 30 in Elmwood cemetery, River Grove. Arrangements were by G.L. Hills Funeral Home, Des Plaines. A World War II Army veteran, he died May 23. He retired in 1982 after working 35 years as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent for curriculum in District 62. He was a classroom teacher and principal of both North and Cumberland schools. He was the son of the late Frank and Bessie Cowell. Frank P. Currier, 75, passed away on May 22 at ManorCare Health Services, Rolling Meadows. Born in Chicago, Currier was the former manager of Ravinia Green, and Evanston and Ravisloe County clubs. He was a member of the National Club Managers Assoc., and former past-president of the Chicago Club Managers Assoc. He also served as an usher for St. James Catholic Church. His survivors include his daughters Paula (LeRoy) Dietz of Wheeling, and Pamela (Thomas) McPherson of Arlington Hts. He is survived by his grandchildren Dr. Bradley P. (Kathy) Dietz, Scott Christopher Dietz, and Daniel Joseph Dietz. Currier is preceded in death by his wife Muriel, his parents, his sister Dorothy DeBias, and his brother Cosmo Currier.
GILBERT W. DAHM
Age 75
Gilbert W. Dahm passed away at Manor Care of Rolling Meadows May 26. He was born in Des Plaines on Jan. 10, 1931. Mr. Dahm served in Korea with the U.S. Army and worked for over 26 years as a truck driver for Luczak Plastering. Mr. Dahm was preceded in death by brothers Edwin (Florence) and Donald Dahm and sister LaVerne (late Robert) Fay. Survivors are wife Lorraine (nee Gathman); children Guy, Richard (Linda) and Sherri (Paul) Hudson; grandchildren Mallory, Laura, Morgan, Rachel and Lucas; and siblings Thomas (Alice), Leonard (Marjorie), Eileen (late Carl) Van Diggelin and Nicholas (Kathleen). Visitation took place Tuesday at Meadows Funeral Home. Mass is today at 10 a.m. at St. Colette Church, followed by entombment at Memory Gardens in Arlington Hts.

A funeral Mass for John J. Dellaria, 89, took place on Thursday, June 1 at St. Julian Eymard Church at 10 a.m. Interment was at St. Joseph cemetery in River Grove. Visitation was Wednesday, May 31 at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Mr. Dellaria was born in St. Michael, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Shiela Ray Senior Center of Elk Grove Village for 20 years and served on the advisory board for many years. He died peacefully at his home with his family on May 27. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Sam Dellaria. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Mary A. (nee Cappola), his children Jo Ann (Dick) Nelson, Guy (Kathy) and Jon (Gloria) Dellaria, his siblings Tony Dellaria and Josephine Cappola, his grandchildren Rick (Peggy) Nelson, Kim (Jon) Esmael, Krista (Phil) Raffini, Brian (Diana) Nelson, Kevin (Karen) Nelson, Dean (Carol) Dellaria, and Tracy Dellaria, and his 15 great-grandchildren. Catherine Giuliano of Des Plaines passed away May 29 at the age of 94. She was born Jan. 23, 1912 in Chicago and will be buried today (Friday) at St. Joseph cemetery after 10 a.m. Mass at St. Mary. Mrs. Giuliano was preceded in death by parents Anthony and Vincenza (Ragusa) Arcuri and sister Josephine (the late Carlo) LaSusa. Margaret E. "Peggy" (nee Herbert) Gore, 74, passed away peacefully at home with her family on May 26. She is a 48-year resident of Elk Grove Village. Mrs Gore is survived by her children, Theodore W. Jr. (Mary Jo) Gore, Mary Kay Shapiro, Nancy A (Raymond) Koch, Timothy E. (Lucy) Gore, and Robert M. Gore. A funeral service for Lawrence T. Iversen, 81, took place on Friday, May 26, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Interment was at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Visitation was Thursday, May 25. Mr. Iversen was born on Sept. 28, 1924 in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII, and worked in quality control for an organ company and as a soil tester. He died on May 22 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. He was preceded in death by his sibling Ella Tufano.
