Bernarda Maciuszonek died Tuesday, May 23. The Niles resident and deli cook was born Dec. 16, 1925. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bazyli; parents, Rafael and Michalina Nowik; and daughter Helen. She is survived by sons John and Stanley, daughters Irene (Tom) Smock and Jane (Dino) Cisonno and many grand- and great-grandchildren. Visitation was Friday, May 26; the funeral was the next day. Mrs. Maciuszonek was buried in St. Adalbert cemetery, 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave.
MARGARET F. MATOUSEK

A funeral Mass for Margaret F. Matousek, a 17-year resident of Niles and a long-time political campaign volunteer in Chicago, was celebrated May 22 in St. Paul of the Cross Church, Park Ridge. Interment was in All Saints cemetery. She was 101 years old. Arrangements were by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, Park Ridge. A native of Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood who worked actively for Democratic candidates in Chicago elections, she died May 16 of a heart attack in Forest Villa Nursing Home, Niles. Widow of the late Joseph J. Matousek who died in 1965, she lived on Chicago's northwest side for many years where she was active in St. Matthias Catholic Church. She moved with her sister to Niles in 1989. Surviving are children, James J. (Peaches), Barbara J., and Joanne M. (Gerald G.) Gotsch; grandchildren Michael G. (Sarah) and Thomas J. (Marilyn) Gotsch, David J. (Susan) and Paul J. Matousek, and Jodie (Chris) Padar; 12 great-grandchildren; and siblings Rose West, Johanna Spinner, John, Joseph Nicholas, Louis, and Joseph Francis Spinner; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen F. Matousek, and a sister, Elizabeth Fellows.
JOHN R. "JACK" McCALL
WWII veteran
A funeral mass for John R. "Jack" McCall, 80, took place on Tuesday, May 23 at Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Arlington Heights. Interment was Wednesday, May 24 at Cedar Hills cemetery in Princeton, Kentucky. Visitation was Tuesday, May 22, at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Mr. McCall was born on July 23, 1925 in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and was the owner of Chicago Ad Agency. He was also an active member of Our Lady of the Wayside Church, a CCD teacher, a church lector, a member of the Third Order of Franciscans, and a Boy Scout troop leader. He also wrote and produced the first theater-in-the-round performed at an American college in 1950 at St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota. He died on May 20 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly nee Larson, his children John Jeffrey (Anita) McCall, J. Kevin (Karen) McCall, Christopher McCall, Robert (Christy) McCall, Mary (Ray) Loch, Charles (Debbie) McCall, Ann (Tom) Sadowski, and Joseph (Megan) McCall, his grandchildren Ian, Meghan, Timothy, Michael, Archibald, Ashley, Alex, Alizabeth, Abbie, Adam, Kerri Ann, Daniel, Maxwell, Kelly, Amanda, Justin, Madison, Margaret, and Raymond, and his sister Marion Leon.

A funeral Mass for Dorothy J. McDonald, 96, took place Saturday at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment was at All Saints cemetery. Mrs. McDonald was born on Feb. 26, 1910 in Minnesota. She died on May 21 in Bel Aire, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Timothy R. Sr., her children Nancy Barrett and Timothy McDonald Jr., and her sister Margaret Mantor. She is survived by her children Meg Hicks and Kenneth, her grandchildren Kathleen, Kristine, Timothy III, James, Teresa, Mary, Lisa, Nicole, Natalie, and Kathryn, her 36 great-grandchildren, and her seven great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Lavergne C. Mittelhauser of Rolling Meadows, an amateur poet, was held May 30 in Meadows Funeral Home. Interment followed in Acacia Park cemetery, Chicago. She died May 26 at Northwest Community Hospital. Peter J. Niklaus, a 30-year resident of Elk Grove Village, passed away May 25 at the age of 60. A Mass was held May 27 at St. Julian Eymard Church at 11 a.m. Mr. Niklaus is preceded in death by his father Peter. Survivors are his widow, Carmelita (nee Patrimonio); son Dennis (Misha) Niklaus; daughters Jennifer (Everett) Evans and Jessia (Steve Rotter); mother Annette; and grandchildren Briana and Kassandra Guerrero and Nathan and Alexander Niklaus. An honored educator, Cynthia Jean Petzel, passed away May 25. She served 18 years as principal at Mary, Seat of Wisdom School in Park Ridge. Mrs. Petzel was a Golden Apple Award winner. She was preceded in death by father Sylvester Petzel. Survivors include mother Mary (Joseph) Wrzepski; brothers Thomas (Carmela) and David (Cheryl); sister Pamela (Tom) Lisack; nephews Chris, Tom, Geoff and Andrew; nieces Beth, Amy, Jacqueline and Stefanie; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service for Delbert L. Sears, 87 took place Friday at Meadows Funeral Home. Interment was at St. John cemetery. Mr. Sears was born on Aug. 19, 1918 in Fayette County, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 95th Division 320 Engineers. He also sold vehicles and real estate. He died on May 23 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. He was preceded in death by his wife L. Theresa (nee Kroll); and his sister-in-law Adelma Landmeier.He is survived by his daughter Donna (William) Adamski, his grandchildren Stephen (Julia) Adamski, Susan (Warren) Brown, and Marybeth (Tony) Peterson, and his great-grandchildren Abigail Adamski, Elissa Adamski, Bradley Peterson, and Joshua Brown. Peter J. Ziegler of Des Plaines was laid to rest at Maryhill cemetery Thursday after services at St. Juliana Church and Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. The Des Plaines resident was 70 years old. Mr. Ziegler was born May 4, 1936 in Park Ridge. He served in the Marines and made his living as a greeting card salesman. He died May 21 at Lutheran General Hospital. Mr. Ziegler is survived by wife June (nee Yadgir) Ziegler; daughter Debbie Ziegler; son Peter Ziegler; partner Virginia Soderling; brothers Ralph, Don (Nina), Paul (Ann) and Melvin (Charlene); and sisters Carol (James) Pluskota and Joyce and Nancy (Marc Albertino) Ziegler.

A funeral service for Catherine M. Black, 50, will take place on Friday, May 26, at Trinity Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Visitation will precede the service at the church at 9 a.m. Visitation was also held on Wednesday, May 24 and Thursday, May 25 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Mrs. Black was born on June 4, 1955 in Chicago. She worked in medical transcription and died on May 21 at RMO Specialty Hospital. Ms. Blume was born on May 14, 1948 in Elmhurst. She worked at Lakeside Transportation and Waukegan Harbour. She died on May 18 at Stroger Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father Victor F. "Mike" Weipert, and her siblings Kevin Weipert and Kathleen Weipert. She is survived by her children James (Jill), Andrew (Erica), David (Kristena), and Joseph Weipert, her mother Violet Weipert, her siblings Robert (Diane) Weipert, Brian (Barbara) Weipert, and Lanette Wagner, and her grandchildren Megan, William, Avry, Gavin, Elliotte, and Ryleigh. Margaret Harwick passed away May 12 in Country Club Hills at age 98. She spent 28 years of her life as a resident of Elk Grove Village. Mrs. Harwick is survived by daughters Marta (Bud) Tsantis and Kay (Jim) Sarantakos, in addition to 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Interment took place at Holy Cross cemetery in Normal.

Gertrude May Hougdahl (nee Bosse) passed away May 20 at the age of 90. She died at The Lutheran Home. Mrs. Hougdahl was the wife of the late Harris J. She is survived by children Bud (Greata) Hougdahl, Arlene (Bob) Quigley and Karen (Carl) Schichi; grandchildren Jeanine, Jill, David, Wendy, Renee, Laurie, Becky, Bob and Matthew; twenty great-grandchildren; brother Bert Bosse; sisters Margaret Bosse and Louise (Carl Sr.) Wessman; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Lawrence "Larry" Lococo, 99 will take place on Saturday, May 27 at 11 a.m. at Oehler Funeral Home inside Ridgewood Memorial Park with Rev. Michael Youngblood presiding. Interment will follow at Ridgewood. Visitation will be Friday, May 26, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the same location. Mr. Lococo was born on Sept. 9, 1906 in Oswego, New York. He served as a U.S. Navy Seabee in WWII in the 109th Construction Battalion. He died on May 23 at Bethany Terrace Nursing Home in Morton Grove. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine L. (nee Nelson), his stepchildren Alan J. (Marsha) Cooper and Lynn E. (Howard) Winkle, and his siblings Anthony Lococo and Margaret Valenzia. He is survived by his stepdaughter Lois A. (Alan) Wall, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his siblings Fred Lococo and Prudence DePaul, and many nieces and nephews.

Adail M. Moran (nee Greseck) died May 19 at the age of 100 at Manor Care in Arlington Hts. Born Sept. 17, 1905 in Enid, Oklahoma, Mrs. Moran had worked as a nurse at Elmhurst Hospital for many years. Mrs. Moran was preceded in death by husband Edward F. and sisters Elfreda Greseck, Aileen Reinhl and Amanda Pettijohn. Survivors include daughters Mary E. (the late Alvin) Estrella and Gloria (the late Michael) Kevorkian; son Martin (Susan) Moran; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation took place Monday at Meadows Funeral Home. James Phillips passed away May 19 at Alden of Des Plaines. He was born Dec. 27, 1926 in Chicago. He had lived in Des Plaines for 42 years. Mr. Phillips was an Army veteran and a member of the Park Ridge VFW and the Des Plaines Senior Center. He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Boliars); son David; grandchildren Melissa Phillips and Samantha Meyer; great-grandchild Tatiana; and brothers John (Dawn) and William (Pat) Phillips. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Robert and sister Jean (Bernard) Rasine. Services take place today (Wednesday) at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 855 Lee St. in Des Plaines, beginning at 11 a.m. He will be buried at Elmwood cemetery in River Grove. Frank Philip "Francesco" Vitiritti, 74, passed away May 18 at St. Lutheran General Hospital. Visitation was conducted on Sunday at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines, and funeral services were conducted on Monday, May 22, at St. Mary Church in Des Plaines. He is interned at All Saints cemetery. Mr Vitiritti, who was born March 8, 1932, in Altomonte, Italy, enjoyed hunting, watching Italian soccer, and old cars. He loved to dance and play the accordion, gardening and a good glass of homemade wine. He had been a mechanic for Schwake Stone Co., Des Plaines, from 1964 to 2003. Mr Viriritti is survived by his wife of 47 years, Asunta F. (nee Campagna), and children, Juigi (Michelle Donofrio), Judie (Scott) Vitiritti-Lynch, and Alfredo P. Vitiritti. He has grandchildren Simone, Cabriella, Colette, and Sofia. He is also survived by his brothers Mario (Amelia), and Pino (Pina), and Evaristo (Dino) Vitiritti. He is survived by his sisters, Rosetta (Tony) Petinella, and Carmella (Pasquale) Marino.

A funeral service for Lawrence "Dago" Aliotto, 75, took place on Thursday, May 11 at Grove Memorial Chapel. Visitation occurred the same day. Mr. Aliotto was born in Milwaukee, Wisc. He served in the Korean War and lived in Hoffman Estates before moving to Schaumburg. He died suddenly at home on May 8. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Phyllis (nee Cali Aliotto), and his in-laws Earl J.and Phyllis (nee DePietro) Rogers), four brothers, and three sisters.He is survived by his beloved wife Beverly (nee Rogers), his children Victoria O'Dowd, Kim Link, Joseph (Sue), Phyllis (Brian) Kulka, and Rocco (Jenelle), his siblings Joseph (Dee) Aliotto and Esther (the late Victor) Zingarelli, his grandchildren Matt, Colleen, Jessica, Philip, Rachel, Stacey Jo, Joey, Christopher, Nickolas, and Tyler, his great-grandchildren Caili, Aidan, and baby girl O'Dowd, and many nieces and nephews.
