Jonith B. Romano (nee Biggio), 80, Park Ridge area resident for 47 years, passed away quietly on Oct. 24, 2006 at Manor Care of Northbrook. Born in Chicago, Ill. on Nov. 23, 1925, she was the daughter of John and Edith Biggio. Her eight year wait is now over and she has been reunited with her loving husband, Patrick. Jonith was a devoted wife, mother, and loving grandmother. She is survived by her children, Thomas Romano and Michele (Jim) Montalbano, her grandchildren Kristen Romano, Laura Romano, Ashley Romano, Jim (Danielle) Montalbano, and John Montalbano. A funeral service and instate for Lorraine M. Ruff, 80, formerly of Itasca and Schaumburg, took place Monday, Oct. 23 at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington. She was interred at Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Hts. Visitation was on Sunday. Mrs. Ruff was born in Chicago. She was owner and founder of Ruff Travel Agency in Schaumburg from 1975 to 1993. She was also a member of the American Society of Travel Agents. She passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Life Care Center in Glendale, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron E. Ruff. She is survived by her loving children Jeri (Paul) Lotts and Darlene (David) Baier, her cherished grandchildren Brett (Robin) Tracy, Michael Lotts, Jennifer Lotts, Sean Baier and Chris (Jamie) Baier, and dear great-grandchildren Joseph, Seth, Courtney, and Katelynn. A visitation and funeral service for Herman Emil Schmidt, 97, formerly of Palatine, took place Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine. Born January 17, 1909 in Chicago, Mr. Schmidt was raised on a Palatine farm. He owned Schmidt Electric for 50 years before retiring to a farm in Byron, Mn. He passed away Thursday, Oct. 19. Mr. Schmidt was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (nee Walsh) Schmidt, his great-granddaughter Jessica Franz, his brothers Frank Schmidt and Raymond Schmidt, and his sister Viola Schmidt. He is survived by his children Herman A. Schmidt and Betty (Bob) Franz, his grandchildren Randy (Wendy) Franz, Richard Franz, Michael (Julie) Franz, Jeffery (Linda) Franz, Jennifer (Glynn) Walker, Kim (Dan) Loomans, Tiffany (Sam) Ancheril, Darren Schmidt, Justin Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt, Brandon Schmidt, Heather Schmidt, his sister Marie Collins, brother-in-laws Leroy (Lorna) Walsh and Charles (Jean) Walsh, and 16 great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Frank B. Shaw, 78, of Palatine was held community Church of Rolling Meadows. Visitation was at the Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Shaw will be interred at Mt. Emblem cemetery in Elmhurst. Born Oct. 16, 1928 in Oak Park, Mr. Shaw served in the army during the Korean War. He worked for Publix office supply in sales for many years and was a long time member of the Community Church of Rolling Meadows. He passed away on Thursday, Oct. 19 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. Mr. Shaw is survived by his wife, Shirley (nee Krueger) Shaw, his children Debra (Duane) Oest and Randy (Cheryl) Shaw, his brother Howard C. Shaw, and his grandchildren Brandon Oest, Haleigh Oest, Daniel Shaw, Marc Shaw, and Taylor Shaw. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Community Church of Rolling Meadows.

A funeral mass for Nicholas W. Shultz, 46, formerly of Naperville, was yesterday in Arlington Hts. Visitation was the preceding day. Committal service was at All Saints cemetery following the mass. Nicholas was born on February 15, 1960 in La Grange to Robert and Julia Elizabeth (nee Higgins) Shultz. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and a member of the American Legion Merle Guild No. 208. For the past several years, Nicholas was employed as an insurance consultant for Mercer Consulting in Chicago. He had previously been employed by both Aon and Metropolitan Life Company. Nicholas was also actively involved with the Indian Princesses program with all three of his daughters. He died October 28, 2006 at his home in Arlington Hts. Nicholas is preceded in death by his father, Robert Horan, his sister, Mary Shultz, and his mother-in-law, Elean L. (nee McHale) Horan. He is survived by his wife, Therese M. (nee Horan) Shultz, whom he married
on August 6, 1988 in Skokie, his children, Emily Shultz, Elizabeth Shultz, and Hannah Shultz, his mother Julia Elizabeth Shultz, his siblings Anne (Paul) Pfeiffer and Marley Shultz, his father-in-law, Raymond P. (Jeanne) Horan, and his brothers-in-law, Brian R. Horan and Thomas J. (Jennifer) Horan. A funeral service for William E. Spradling Sr., 88, of Bensenville, took place on Thursday, Oct. 26 at First United Methodist Church in Bensenville with Rev. Luis F. Reyes officiating. Interment was at Mt. Emblem cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary in Elmhurst. Mr. Spradling was born in Harrin, Ill. on Oct. 7, 1918. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked at the Crane Company in Morton Grove. He died on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. He is survived by his wife Jane R. Spradling nee Summers; his son William E. (Terry) Spradling Jr.; his grandchildren Carrie (Kevin) Wilson, David (Monica) Spradling, Alison Spradling, Amanda Spradling, and Amanda Willey; and his great-grandchildren Michael Spradling and Hailey Wilson. A memorial visitation for Anton Sulik, 92, was held on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at the Oehler Funeral Home Des Plaines Chapel. Mr. Sulik was born on June 10, 1914 in Chicago. He died on Sunday, Oct. 29, in Des Plaines, where he had lived for 53 years. He worked as a machinist at Parker Hannifin in Des Plaines, and retired in 1984. Mr. Sulik was survived by his wife of 57 years, Hazel (nee Williams). He was also survived by his sons Carl (Nancy) Sulik, Raymond (Jung 'Sue') Sulik, and Charles Sulik, his grandchildren Scott, Jennifer, Christopher (Tanya), Jason (Jennifer), Matthew (Linsey), and Thomas, his great grandchildren Alexis, Skylar, and Reece, and his sister Susan (Bob) Braun. Mr. Sulik was preceded in death by his daughter Kathleen (James) Bertoglio, and his brother Charles Sulik.
