A memorial visitation will be held for Des Plaines resident Peter Walczak, 52, on Saturday, Mar. 7 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines. Mr. Walczak died on Feb. 23 after he was hit by a downtown Des Plaines Metra commuter train. A private service will be held on Sunday, Mar. 8.

Funeral services for Marilyn L. Bickel (nee Muszynski), 73, took place Wednesday, Mar. 4, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles and Thursday, Mar. 5 at St. John Brebeuf Church. Entombment will be in St. Adalbert Mausoleum. Visitation was Tuesday, Mar. 3 at the funeral home. Mrs. Bickel was born on Mar. 17, 1935 in Chicago. She died on Feb. 28, 2009 at Swedish Covenant Hospital. Her husband William E. and her children William F. (Karen) and Robert J. (Lisa), survive her.

A funeral mass for Carol Cooney took place Thursday, Mar. 5 at St. Joseph Home for the Elderly in Palatine. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation will precede the mass. Mrs. Cooney was born on Feb. 10, 1918 in Poland. She died on Mar. 1, 2009. Her husband Charles G. Cooney preceded her in death.

James P. Doherty, 88, a resident of Des Plaines for 52 years, died Mar. 5 in Park Ridge. Doherty was born Nov. 13, 1920 in Chicago. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a retired service repairman for People's Gas. Visitation was Sunday, Mar. 8, at Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines Chapel. Mass was at 10 a.m. with prayers on Monday, Mar. 9 at St. Mary Church in Des Plaines. Burial in All Saints cemetery, Des Plaines. Mr. Doherty is survived by his wife, Marion, of 65 years; daughter, Jeanne Lederer; son, Phil (Linda) Doherty; grandchildren, Sean, Drew and Brooke; sisters, Lorraine McCambridge, Shirley Kelly, Phyllis Hoch and sister and brother-in-laws Myrtle McCarthy, Blanche Schug, Lorraine Grupe, Louis Volberding. Mr. Doherty was preceded in death by the late Golda Wolstenholm, late Dorothy Homeyer, late Mabel Frana and the late Herbert Volberding.

Mary Catherine Duffy, 88, died Mar. 3 in St. Matthew Home, Park Ridge. She was the daughter of the late John and Hannah; sister of the late John, James and Frances Duffy, sister-in-law of Jeanette and Mary A. Duffy. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Raymond L. Eichelberg Jr. were held Friday, Mar. 6 at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Visitation was Thursday, Mar. 5 at the funeral home. Internment will be private. Eichelberg was born on July 9, 1946 in Chicago and died at a medical facility in Woodstock on Sunday, Mar. 1, 2009. He was 62 years old. Eichelberg was a resident of both Des Plaines and Rosemont and retired from the Rosemont Public Safety Department where he served as a firefighter and police officer for 13 years. Eichelberg is survived by his wife of 28 years Deborah (nee Mynaugh) Eichelberg, son James A. (Megan) Eichelberg, grand daughter Francis G. Eichelberg, parents Raymond Sr. and Marie Eichelberg, sister Janice (Joseph) Zidek, brothers Lawrence (Deborah) Eichelberg and Robert (Karen) Eichelberg and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Richard A. Eichelberg and brother John (Lynette) Eichelberg.

A native of Chicago, he died Mar. 7 in Northwest Community Hospital. He worked for Northern Illinois Gas Co. and also was an auxiliary police officer in Rosemont. Surviving are his widow, Claudia (nee Lossem), son Joe (Barb); daughters Mary (Dave) York, Ann (Scott) Zwolski, Lynn (Mike) Arndt, and Kathy (Joe) Poreda; and 10 grand children.

Beverly R. Campbell, 84, of Schaumburg, formerly of Rolling Meadows, died Mar. 18 in her home. She was born May 18, 1924 in Syracuse, New York, to the late Charles and Ella Schaaf. She worked as a librarian and had worked as a secretary for the City of Rolling Meadows Police Dept. for many years. She was the wife of the late Cy Campbell, the second police chief for Rolling Meadows, from 1956 to 1970. She was the mother of the late Victoria Stegeman; sister of Bette Kocian and the late Dorothy Magnusson and Grace Meller. Visitation was Monday, Mar. 23 at Meadows Funeral Home.
