Des Plaines resident

A memorial visitation will be held for Des Plaines resident Peter Walczak, 52, on Saturday, Mar. 7 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines. Mr. Walczak died on Feb. 23 after he was hit by a downtown Des Plaines Metra commuter train. A private service will be held on Sunday, Mar. 8.

Marilyn L. Bickel
of Niles

Funeral services for Marilyn L. Bickel (nee Muszynski), 73, took place Wednesday, Mar. 4, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles and Thursday, Mar. 5 at St. John Brebeuf Church. Entombment will be in St. Adalbert Mausoleum. Visitation was Tuesday, Mar. 3 at the funeral home. Mrs. Bickel was born on Mar. 17, 1935 in Chicago. She died on Feb. 28, 2009 at Swedish Covenant Hospital. Her husband William E. and her children William F. (Karen) and Robert J. (Lisa), survive her.

Carol Cooney
Of Palatine

A funeral mass for Carol Cooney took place Thursday, Mar. 5 at St. Joseph Home for the Elderly in Palatine. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation will precede the mass. Mrs. Cooney was born on Feb. 10, 1918 in Poland. She died on Mar. 1, 2009. Her husband Charles G. Cooney preceded her in death.

James P. Doherty
Of Des Plaines

James P. Doherty, 88, a resident of Des Plaines for 52 years, died Mar. 5 in Park Ridge. Doherty was born Nov. 13, 1920 in Chicago. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a retired service repairman for People's Gas. Visitation was Sunday, Mar. 8, at Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines Chapel. Mass was at 10 a.m. with prayers on Monday, Mar. 9 at St. Mary Church in Des Plaines. Burial in All Saints cemetery, Des Plaines. Mr. Doherty is survived by his wife, Marion, of 65 years; daughter, Jeanne Lederer; son, Phil (Linda) Doherty; grandchildren, Sean, Drew and Brooke; sisters, Lorraine McCambridge, Shirley Kelly, Phyllis Hoch and sister and brother-in-laws Myrtle McCarthy, Blanche Schug, Lorraine Grupe, Louis Volberding. Mr. Doherty was preceded in death by the late Golda Wolstenholm, late Dorothy Homeyer, late Mabel Frana and the late Herbert Volberding.

Mary Catherine Duffy
Of Park Ridge

Mary Catherine Duffy, 88, died Mar. 3 in St. Matthew Home, Park Ridge. She was the daughter of the late John and Hannah; sister of the late John, James and Frances Duffy, sister-in-law of Jeanette and Mary A. Duffy. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral mass was held Wednesday, Mar. 4 at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment followed in Mount Carmel cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home.

Raymond L. Eichelberg. Jr.
Former Rosemont Public Safety Officer

Funeral services for Raymond L. Eichelberg Jr. were held Friday, Mar. 6 at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Visitation was Thursday, Mar. 5 at the funeral home. Internment will be private. Eichelberg was born on July 9, 1946 in Chicago and died at a medical facility in Woodstock on Sunday, Mar. 1, 2009. He was 62 years old. Eichelberg was a resident of both Des Plaines and Rosemont and retired from the Rosemont Public Safety Department where he served as a firefighter and police officer for 13 years. Eichelberg is survived by his wife of 28 years Deborah (nee Mynaugh) Eichelberg, son James A. (Megan) Eichelberg, grand daughter Francis G. Eichelberg, parents Raymond Sr. and Marie Eichelberg, sister Janice (Joseph) Zidek, brothers Lawrence (Deborah) Eichelberg and Robert (Karen) Eichelberg and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Richard A. Eichelberg and brother John (Lynette) Eichelberg.

James P. Farrell
Of Des Plaines

A funeral mass for James P. Farrell, 73, of Des Plaines, was celebrated Mar. 10 in St. Emily Church, Mt. Prospect. Burial followed in All Saints cemetery. A native of Chicago, he died Mar. 7 in Northwest Community Hospital. He worked for Northern Illinois Gas Co. and also was an auxiliary police officer in Rosemont. Surviving are his widow, Claudia (nee Lossem), son Joe (Barb); daughters Mary (Dave) York, Ann (Scott) Zwolski, Lynn (Mike) Arndt, and Kathy (Joe) Poreda; and 10 grand children.

Julia P. Ferrini
Of Rolling Meadows

Julia P. Ferrini, 97, died on Feb. 25 in Manor Care Nursing Home in Rolling Meadows. Wife of the late John B.; mother of James (Jeanne) and Raymond; grandmother of Anthony (Mary), Mary Caren (Glenn) D'Anniballe, Emily (Anthony) Bertronski, Danielle (Beau) Desherow and Joseph (Allison); great-grandmother of 13. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28, from Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, Park Ridge to St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment was in All Saints cemetery.

Visitation for Guerrino Floreani, 93, was held Friday, Feb. 27, at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, Park Ridge. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28, from the funeral home to St. Paul of the Cross Church. Entombment in All Saints cemetery. Floreani was the husband of Gina; father of Marino David (Mary Anne Poynton) and Pierina Mina (Mario) Pacini; uncle of Valentino Menis, M.D.; grandfather of Charlene, Jennifer, Christina (Jaime Brugueras), Martin and Mark Floreani, Sonia (Brandon Boskovic) and Mark Pacini; great-grandfather of Aleksander, Luke and Martin; uncle, cousin and friend to many, here and in Italy.

Frank Glienna
Of Park Ridge

Frank Glienna, 71, of Park Ridge, died Mar. 1 in Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Husband of Pat; father of Amy and Michael; grandfather of Sean Boske, Steven Downs and Angelica; son of the late Angelina and Daniel; brother of Michael and the late Marie Walton, Fred and Daniel Glienna; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Mr. Glienna is the former executive secretary of the Illinois State Athletic Board. Funeral was held Saturday, Mar. 7, from Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, Park Ridge to St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment private.

Timothy J. Heinz, 44, passed away on Feb. 28 in Marinette, Wisc. He was formerly a Park Ridge resident. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie; son, Nicholas; parents John and Barbara Heinz; in-laws Ted and Betty Guillem; sister, Christine (John) Alfirevich; nephews, John and Joseph Alfirevich; niece, Olivia Alfirevich. Funeral mass was held Wednesday, Mar. 4, at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment followed in All Saints cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday, Mar. 3 at the Ryan-Parke Funeral Home.

A funeral mass for Geraldine A. Knight, (nee Naughton) took place on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Glenview. Entombment was at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation preceded the service at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Glenview. Her husband John "Jack" T. Knight preceded her in death. Her children John (Cathy), Kathleen (Ron) Craven and Mary (Mike) Russell survive her.

Frances E. Lah
Of Elk Grove Village

Frances E. Lah, 91, of Elk Grove Village, died on Feb. 20. She was a 20-year volunteer at Alexian Bros. Medical Center, a member of Queen of the Rosary Woman's Club and Sheila Ray Senior Center. Wife of the late George F.; mother of Gordon G. (Carol A.) Lah and Sharon M. (Jerry C.) Szcinski; sister of the late Joseph Primozich and Martha A. Kuziel; grandmother of Marcia (Glenn) Wojnowiak, Christine (Patrick) Amann; Paula (William) Rexing; Kevin (Susan) Lah; Kelly (David) Wadas; Jeff (Darla) Szcinski; Brian Szcinski; Dave Swuz; Kim (Mark) Hetelle; Douglas (Rachael) Szcinski; great grandmother of 21. Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village handled the arrangements.

June Meyer Leigh

June Meyer Leigh, 71, of Rolling Meadows, died Mar. 1 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. Born Feb. 15, 1938, in Chicago, she worked at the Lutheran Home for over 35 years as a certified nursing assistant teacher and registar nurse. She was the wife of Daniel; mother of Jeffrey D., Todd A (Linda Savage), Mark E. (Cheryl) Leigh and Amy (Paul) Schachtner. Grandmother of 12. Sister of Donna (Fred) Chevaleau. Visitation was held Friday, Mar. 6, at Meadows Funeral Home, Rolling Meadows. She lied in state Saturday, Mar. 7, until time of service, at the Orchard Evangelical Free Church, Arlington Hts. Interment in Memory Gardens cemetery.

Arthur F. Patzer

Arthur F. Patzer, 89, of Rolling Meadows, died Feb. 28 at St. Luke Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born Nov. 21, 1919 in Chicago. He worked in sales for many years. He was the husband of the late Virginia. Father of Lynn A. (Martin) Arenberg, Brian A. (Lisa) Patzer and Renee A. (Michael) Brychel; grandfather of Christine, Kyle and Kevin Arenberg, Bradley and Nicholas Patzer, Hallie and Jackson Brychel; brother of Julian (Isabelle) Patzer and Geraldine (Vincent) Bugarin and the late Louise Heffron, Emma Devitt, August Patzer, Virginia Braband, Charles Patzer, Catherine Neale, Richard Patzer, Roger Patzer and Jacqueline Patzer. Visitation was Friday, Mar. 6, at Meadows Funeral Home, Rolling Meadows. Funeral was Saturday, Mar. 7 from chapel to St. Colette Church. Interment at in. Michael the Archangel cemetery in Palatine.

John A. Shelk, Jr., 78, a former resident of Wheeling. Husband of the late Joan Shelk. Father of John (Melissa) and Ron (Donna) Shelk. Grandfather of Ryan and Robert Shelk. Brother of Carol Westfall and Vivian Mathe. Visitation was Friday, Mar. 6, at Kolssak Funeral Home, Wheeling. Funeral was Saturday, Mar. 7, at the funeral home.

Victor N. Sylvester
Of Rolling Meadows

A memorial mass for Victor N. Sylvester, 79, took place on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at St. Colette Church in Rolling Meadows. Mr. Sylvester was born on Oct. 4, 1929 in Chicago. He died on Feb. 19, 2009 at home. His wife Marianne (nee McDade) and his daughter Vicki Lynn (Robert) Knutson survive him. Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows made funeral arrangements.

Adeline C. Taylor
Of Niles

A funeral mass for Adeline C. Taylor, 92, of Niles, was celebrated Mar. 3 in St. Benedict Nursing Home. Burial followed in St. Adalbert cemetery. A native of Chicago, she died Mar. 1 in the home. She worked as a bookbinder for a publishing company. Surviving are her daughter, Rosemarie (George) Robbins of Niles, grandchildren Carrie (Donald) Lindberg, Joseph Mazzie, Colleen Walsh; and great-grandchildren Brian, Kelli, Holly, Leslie, and Ryan.

Maryann Cacioppo
Of Niles

Maryann Cacioppo, 80, of Niles, passed away on Mar. 14 in her home. She was born Dec. 17, 1928 in Chicago and was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. John Brebeuf Church Women's Club. Visitation was at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home on Monday, Mar. 16. Funeral services followed at Skaja on Tuesday, Mar. 17 and St. John Brebeuf Church. Internment was at All Saints Mausoleum. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mary DePietro. Survived by her sons, Marc (Bonnie) Cacioppo and Neal (Mary) Cacioppo. Daughter Nedine (Kevin) Murray; grandchildren, Paul, Ryan, Brian, Laura, Jessica and Megan; brother, John (Helen) DePietro and aunt to many.

Beverly R. Campbell
Formerly of Rolling Meadows

Beverly R. Campbell, 84, of Schaumburg, formerly of Rolling Meadows, died Mar. 18 in her home. She was born May 18, 1924 in Syracuse, New York, to the late Charles and Ella Schaaf. She worked as a librarian and had worked as a secretary for the City of Rolling Meadows Police Dept. for many years. She was the wife of the late Cy Campbell, the second police chief for Rolling Meadows, from 1956 to 1970. She was the mother of the late Victoria Stegeman; sister of Bette Kocian and the late Dorothy Magnusson and Grace Meller. Visitation was Monday, Mar. 23 at Meadows Funeral Home.
