Marypat Sharer, 90, formerly of Hoffman Estates, passed away on Monday, July 26 at Brighten Garden Health Care in Hoffman Estates.
She was born Apr. 5, 1920 in Chicago and worked as a secretary for the University of Chicago for many years.
She is survived by her children, Kevin (Shelia), Jeremy (Susan), John (Diane), and Judd Sharer; grandchildren, Michelle and Wesley Sharer; and brother John (Lillie) Connor.

Bernice H. Skorczewski, 86, formerly of Mt. Prospect, passed away on Saturday, July 24 in her home. She was born Nov. 15, 1923 in Chicago.
Mass was celebrated at All Saints Cathedral Parish in Chicago on Thursday, July 29. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines.
She is survived by her children, Howard (Lyn) and Mark (Karen) Skorczewski, and Barbara (Jim) Boyle; grandchildren, Betsy, Kristy, Matthew, Lisa (Jimmy), Sara (Efren), and Kelly; great-grandchildren, Gianna and Lukas; siblings, Dian (Bill) Davis and Kenneth (the late Renee) Tadych; and many nieces and nephews.

Douglas R. Smith, 48, formerly of Mt. Prospect, passed away on Sunday, July 25 in his home. He was born May 2, 1962 in Evanston.
Mass was celebrated at St. Raymond de Penafort Church in Mt. Prospect on Thursday, July 29.
He is survived by his parents; Jack and Anne Smith; siblings, Mark and Gregory (Stacy) Smith, Pam Kush, and Susan Evans; and nieces and nephews Kelsey, Daniel, Courtney, Jeremy, Jason, and Carly.

A memorial service for Marilyn W. Snyder, 87, formerly of Arlington Hts., was held July 24 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., Arlington Hts. Interment was private.
A native of Lafayette, IN, she died July 20 in Lexington of Streamwood. She was a member of the Northwest Community Hospital Auxiliary and was active in the Alpha Chi Omega Alumni Association.
Widow of the late E. Max Snyder, she is survived by her children, Marilee Ann (John) Snyder-Nieciak, Ernest Floyd (Tamara), and Catherine; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Jacob J. Ulrich, 84, formerly of Arlington Hts., passed away on Monday, July 26 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts.
He was born Dec. 6, 1925 in Chicago and was a World War II Marine Corps veteran.
Mass was celebrated at St. Cecilia Church in Mt. Prospect on Friday, July 30. Interment was at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.
Ulrich is survived by his wife, Florence (nee Peterson); children Ron Morgan and Marilee (Tom) Van Havermaet; and grandchildren, Joseph, Patrick, and Lauren Van Havermaet.

Army Veteran
A funeral service for Richard Wade, 77, of Elk Grove Village, was held Tuesday, July 27, at The Oaks Funeral Home in Itasca.
A proud Army veteran of the Korean conflict, he died July 21.
He volunteered at the Salvation Army and was affiliated with his beloved Chicago Bears for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife Donna; his children, Andrew (Deanna), Jon (special friend Wendy), Eric (Colleen); seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Darlene Diana Willingham, 66, formerly of Palatine, passed away on Tuesday, July 27 at The Lexington in Wheeling. She was born June 7, 1944 in Chicago.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 29 at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd. in Arlington Hts. Interment was at St. Adalbert cemetery in Niles.
Willingham is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Sean Cassidy) Freid; grandchildren Logan Freid and Michael Cassidy; and brother Ronald (Barbara) Vidock.

Mr. Alajoki is survived by children Raymond (Beverly) and Jean (Charles) Sanno, grandchildren Kristine Alajoki, Jennifer (Garrett) Okuda, Karen Sanno, Donna (Peter) Bradley and Daniel (Nicki) Brask, great-grandchildren Emmett, Tyler and Trent.
He is preceded in death by wife Laila L. and 13 siblings.

A funeral service for Donna C. Alexander, 77, of Rolling Meadows, was held in Meadows Funeral Home on Dec. 29. Burial followed in Randhill Park cemetery, Arlington Hts.
A native of Chicago, she died Dec. 23 in Northwest Community Hospital.
Surviving are children Paula (Donald) Nuzzo, Christina, Susan, and Charlene. She was preceded in death by a son, Frank.

A celebration of life gathering for Lillian M. Atherton (nee Kraft), 81, took place Friday, Jan. 2 at Rosewood Banquets in Rosemont.
Mrs. Atherton was born on Oct. 20, 1927 in Chicago. She died at home on Dec. 29, 2008.
Her husband William Atherton, her daughter-in-law Meghan (nee Farrell), and her sisters Evelyn Steffen and Marilyn Krajcik preceded her in death.
Her children Bonnie, William (Eileen Grace), and Bobbie Atherton; her grandchildren Ryan, Matthew, Eric, Tessa, William, and Kendal; her brother Robert Kraft; and many nieces and nephews survive her.
Lorrie Banach

A funeral Mass for Lorrie Banach (nee Nolan), 69, took place Monday, Dec. 29 at St. Raymond de Penafort Church in Mt. Prospect. Interment was at Mt. Carmel cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 28 at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect.
Mrs. Banach was born on Apr. 2, 1939 in Chicago. She was a longtime active member of St. Raymond and St. Zachary churches and a lead catechist for CCD and SPRED. She was a fixture at RecPlex swimming, a member of the Red Hat Society, KOPS Honor Society, and the founder of St. Zachary Goldenaires Senior's Club. She grew up in Chicago where she attended Our Lady of Sorrows Grammar School and Providence High School where she was active in the Alumni Club. She died on Dec. 23, 2008 at home.
Her parents Mary J. (nee Hickey) and Thomas J. Nolan preceded her in death.
Her husband of 42 years Art Banach; her children Heather (David) Terry and Lynnea (David) Brand; her grandchildren Rachel, Matthew, Daniel, and Nolan; her siblings Mary Sperry, Elizabeth (late Robert) Stavenger, and Michael (Joan) Hickey; and many nieces and nephews survive her.

A funeral Mass for Christine "Nina" Barone, 84, formerly of Arlington Heights for 40 years, took place on Saturday, Jan. 3 at St. James Church in Arlington Heights. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines.
Mrs. Barone was born on Jan. 31, 1924. She worked for Sexton Foods and Northwest Community Hospital. She was a parishioner of St. James Church. She died on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008.
Her husband Joseph R. Barone and her siblings James Salvatore and Lucille Keating preceded her in death.
Her children Michael Joseph (Kathleen) Barone and Christine (Kevin) Lotzer; her grandchildren Michael and Meghan Barone, Jaclyn, Bradley, Margaret, and Kevin Lotzer; and many nieces and nephews survive her.
Anna M. Calabrese

Anna M. Calabrese, 78, (nee Roselli) a long time resident of Palatine since 1967, died on Dec. 23.
Funeral service prayers were held before proceeding to St. Theresa Church for Mass. Burial was at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery.
Mrs. Calabrese was born on Oct. 12, 1930 in Italy. She was the wife of Eristo Calabrese. She was a beautiful and caring woman who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cooking.
She is survived by her children, Anna (George) Zaharopoulos, Tony (Maria) Calabrese and Don (Julie) Calabrese; grandchildren, Scott, Jimmy, Anthony, Antonia and Domenic.
