A funeral service was held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9 and St. John Brebeuf Church on the same day. Interment was at Maryhill cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Florence Holod; children Greg (Maria) Holod; Janet (Thom) Matroci-Sudol; grandchildren, Louie, Nicole, Cristalle, James and Stephen; great-grandchildren and brother, Ted (Irene) Holod.

Earl M. Hora, 88, of Arlington Hts., died Apr. 27 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Hts. He was born Apr. 3, 1921 in Chicago. Prayers were said on Thursday, Apr. 30 at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, Arlington Hts., proceeding to Our Lady of the Wayside Church for Mass. Interment was in Memory Gardens cemetery. He was the husband of Nora E.; father of David M. M.D. (Suzanne) Hora; Marjorie J. (John) Novak, Kathleen J. (Ron) Chudik and James P. Hora; grandfather of 11; great grandfather of 14; and brother of Jean Klekamp.

Services for Walter Kolomiec, 78, were held Saturday, May 9, at Friedrichs Funeral Home, Mt. Prospect. Interment was in Elmwood cemetery, River Grove. Mr. Kolomiec was born Dec. 18, 1930, in the Ukraine, and died Tuesday, May 5 at Manorcare Rolling Meadows. He was a retired machinist at Illinois Tool Works in Glenview. He was the husband of Nina Kolomiec; father of Laura (Paul) Biron, William Kolomiec and John Kolomiec; grandfather of Zoe Biron and Maxym Biron.

A funeral Mass for William J. Lay, D.D.S., 81, was held Monday, Apr. 27, at St. Emily Church in Mt. Prospect. Interment was in All Saints cemetery. He was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Chicago and died Sunday, Apr. 19 at Northwest Community Hospital. Dr. Lay was a World War II Army veteran. He is survived by his niece and goddaughter, Annette Langer and niece, Dolores Jordan; great-nieces, Elizabeth (Bret) Dooley, Kieran Jordan and Cathleen (Marc) Rubin; great-nephews, Matthew and Sean Dooley; childhood friend and family, Roy (Trudy) Kerzek, Karen Ellerman (his goddaughter) and Susan Kerzek.

Richard Wayne Lizak, 78, of Des Plaines, died suddenly on May 12. He was born Apr. 22, 1931 in Chicago, served in the Air Force in the Korean War and worked 43 years for Continental Can Company. A celebration of his life was held Saturday, May 16 at Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral and Cremation Center in Chicago. He was the husband of Dorothyann for 48 years; father of Gary (Laurie) Ochwat, James, Mona (Rich) Osborn and Jody (Roman) Kozina; grandfather of Stevie Ochwat, Stephanie, Jacqueline, Nicholas and Christine Osborn, and Michael, Matthew, Kelly and Chloe Kozina; brother of Gene (Patricia) and his twin, the late Norman (Gloria); and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Ruth Muntges, 92, of Niles, died Thursday, Apr. 23 at Regency Nursing Home. Visitation was Friday, May 1 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Her funeral service was private. She was buried at Irving Park cemetery. She was born Nov. 9, 1916 in Chicago and before retirement was an office clerk. Mrs. Muntges is survived by her husband, Raymond Muntges; children, Ruthann Altmayer, Russell Warnstedt; step son, John (Cookie) Muntges; step daughter, Mary (Tom) Vyskocil. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Warnstedt.

He was a veteran of the Army. Funeral services were held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home on Friday, May 8 and St. Mary of the Woods Church. Interment was at St. Joseph cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Elsa Nasser; daughters, Lisa (Kelly) Yost, Linda (Larry) Rogers and grandchildren, Micah, Jordan, Nolan and Jason Yost and Brian, Erin and Katelyn Rogers.

Doris Perkins, 93, formerly of Park Ridge, died Apr. 11 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was born Dec. 27, 1915 in Chicago. Ms. Perkins was the mother of Doris Siegel and Sharon Perkins; grandmother of Mark Nelson, Scott Nelson, Laura Zurakov and Kimberly Nickels; great-grandmother of 12. Sister of Eleanor Thomas; aunt of Judith Hohnstock and Michael O'Grady. A memorial service was held Sunday, May 17, at the Park Ridge Community Church. Private interment at Town of Maine cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home.

She was laid to rest in St. Adalbert Mausoleum. She was born Nov. 3, 1913 in Chicago and before retirement was a factory laborer. Mrs. Pretkiewicz is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Steve) Sumner, Pat (David) Shanaberger; grandchildren Denise (John) Oczkowicz and Dan Sumner; her great-grandchild; sister, Janet Benson and brother Steve (Helen) Safraniec. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank.

Born Mar. 4, 1920, in Chicago, she died Saturday, Apr. 18, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Ms. Rode was a member of the Des Plaines Moose Lodge and an active member of First United Methodist Church. She was the wife of the late Cornelius Rode; mother of the late Judith K. (James) Stein; grandmother of Cathleen Ann Stein, Michael James (Tracie) Stein.

Paul P. Sannasardo, 77, of Des Plaines, died Wednesday, Apr. 29 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. A funeral service was held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home and St. Mary Church on Saturday, May 2. He was laid to rest in St. Joseph Mausoleum. Mr. Sannasardo was born on Nov. 27, 1931 in Chicago and was a sales manager for a paper company before he retired. He is survived by his daughter, JoAnn (David) Lilek, his former wife, Grace Paldo; sons, Peter Sannasardo and Joseph (Nancy) Sannasardo, his grandchildren, sisters and brother.

Funeral services for Margarete G. Schmidt, 88, were held Saturday, May 9, at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Interment was private. She was born July 30, 1920 in Chicago and died Wednesday, May 6. Ms. Schmidt served during World War II for the Army in a cryptographic unit coding messages to General Eisenhower and General McArthur. Schmidt also worked as a supervisor for Midwest Coil Co. She was the sister of Katherine Radaz, Doris Johanson and Frieda and aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Leonard Jack Sitko, 77 died on Friday, Apr. 10, in his home. Born Jan. 16, 1932, in Chicago, he was a Korean War veteran, having served in the Coast Guard. He was the owner of an advertising specialties business. The husband of the late Marguerite; father of Patricia (Justin) Bushman, Martin Sitko, Amy Philipp, Carrie Sitko and Julie (Thomas) Oddo; grandfather of Daniel, Gina, Vincent, Leo, Jack and David; brother of Orist Sitko. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Apr. 15 at Matz Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin Bielski, children, Joseph (Katie) Bielski, Helen Bielski, Joann (Ken) Kempisty, Ron (Darlene) Bielski and Netti (Bob) O'Connor. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren and siblings.
