Richard Parlin Howe, 91, a 36-year resident of Arlington Hts., passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009, in Round Rock, Texas. There will be no visitation or services. His ashes will reside in Mount Vernon, Maine. Mr. Howe was a retired Navy commander. He retired from US Gypsum after 26 years. He is survived by children Jacquelynne Howe Ward, Richard Jr., Paul Robert Handley, Kenneth Handley, Suzanne Handley Petersen and Barbara Ann Klehr, his 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Stanislawa Janowski, 64, took place on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Rosalie Church. Interment was at Maryhill cemetery in Niles. Visitation was Friday, June 5, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Mrs. Janowski was born in Poland on Jan. 31, 1945. She died on June 2, 2009 at home. Her husband Ignacy Janowski and her children Elzbieta (Stanislaw) Mika and Jacik (Justyna) Janowski survive her.

A memorial Mass for Ruth M. Klafka, 99, took place on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Glenview. Interment was private. Mrs. Klafka was born on Sept. 26, 1909 in Chicago. She died on June 5, 2009 in Arlington Hts. Her husbands Peter Miller and Frank Klafka and her children Carol (Frank) Champa and Jeanette (Bob) Fuechsel preceded her in death. Her son James R. (Janet) Miller survives her. Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines made funeral arrangements.

George V. Kwiecinski, 61, of Rolling Meadows, died June 27, 2009 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. He was born Apr. 30, 1948 in Evanston. He worked as a merchandise manager for many years and for Ace True Value in Westgate. Mr. Kwiecinski was the father of Paul; son of Vincent and the late Mary Kwiecinski; brother of Patricia Beatty, Josephine Nowlan and Robert Kwiecinski; former husband of Susan Kwiecinski.
A funeral service was held on Monday, July 6 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows.

A funeral service for Frances A. Laden, 92, a 52-year resident of Arlington Hts., was held July 2, 2009 in Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., Arlington Hts. Interment was in Memory Gardens cemetery. A native of Bridgewater, South Dakota, she died June 29 in the Lutheran Village Home. She worked in the cafeterias at Miner Junior High and North School for more than 10 years. She lived in Luther Village for the past nine years. Surviving are her daughter, Janice Mary (David) Wolfe of California; her son-in-law, Keith Quintavalle, and grandchildren Jeffrey (Michelle), and Joseph Wolfe; Amy (Joseph) Seiler, Kevin (Lorie) and Kyle Quintavalle; and Kayla, Kari, Kelli, Joseph, Travis, Shawn, Julia, and Justin.

Surviving are his son, Michael; his father, Murney Myles Lazier; three brothers; three nieces; and his dear friend, Carol Lazier. He was preceded in death by his mother.

(Sarah) Lombardo and Charles (Jean) Lombardo; daughter, Ann Lombardo; her grandchildren, Tina, Joseph Jr. (Donielle), Michael, Lauralyn (Joe), Lisanne, Steven, Annalee and Jamilee; her 5 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Ann Farina.

Visitation was Friday, June 5 at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Mrs. Malone was born in Monterey, Mexico. She died June 1, 2009, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Her husband of 57 years, Elmer J. Malone Jr., and her children Russell J. and Linda E. Mueller survive her.

Ann Mangan (nee McElhinney) 83, was born in Glack Carndonagh Donegal, Ireland. She passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009, in Des Plaines. She was the wife of the late Robert; mother of Thomas (Nancy), and Mary (Joseph) Soehn; grandmother of Erich, Darren, and Kathryn. She is also survived by four sisters. Prayers were said on Wednesday, July 1 at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines and were followed by a funeral Mass at St. Zachary Catholic Church, Des Plaines. Interment was at All Saints cemetery, Des Plaines.

Paul was born May 4, 1917 in Chicago and died on Monday, June 22, at The Lutheran Home in Arlington Hts. She is survived by her son, Nicholas (Kathy) Paul, daughter Patricia (Robert) Wamsley, five grandchildren and one great–grandchild, sister Mary Behun and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Marion, parents, Anthony and Esther (nee Smietanka) Glenicki, son Gregory, daughter Jennifer; and her sister, Priscilla Weclew.

Ms. Poleretzky was born Aug. 28, 1929 in Yugoslavia. She passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009 in Arlington Hts. She is survived by children Katherina (Jacob Fast) Erschik, Larry (Annemarie) and Robert, grandchildren Karin (Randy) Fye, Nichole (Michael) Defort, Timothy Erschik and Eric Poleretzky and six great-grandchildren.

Thomas A. Reading, 65, died June 20, 2009 in his home. He was born Feb. 21, 1944 in Hammond, Ind. Mr. Reading worked for Citizen Bank and NBD Bank in Park Ridge for over 21 years. He was the husband of Eileen (nee Noll); father of Lisa (John) Folkers and Paula (John) Reading-Schick; grandfather of Evan, Ellie and Cecilia Folkers; brother of Marilyn (David) Spencer and the late Elizabeth Truesdell. Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows handled the arrangements. Funeral services were Wednesday, June 24 at St. Colette Church. Interment was at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery in Palatine.

Mary Schwab, a long-time Des Plaines resident and wife of former Public Works director Joseph Schwab, passed away July 8, 2009 while visiting her son in Texas. Schwab was born in Des Plaines. Her husband Joe served as superintendent of the Public Works Dept. for many years. A service was scheduled for 2 p.m. today (Friday) in Texas. Burial will be at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Schwab is survived by two sons, James and Stephan, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

His wife Margrethe (nee Eidsvoog) and his children Mary (Gerry) Galloway, Stephen (Jan) Schwellenbach, Kathleen (Larry) Johnson, Daniel (Debbie) Schwellenbach, Joseph (Judy) Schwellenbach and Pamela Schwellenbach survive him.

A native of Momence, Ill., he died June 24 in Church Creek Nursing Home in Arlington Hts. Surviving are his children, Chris (Robin), Scott (Ademi), and Patricia (Edward A.) Trio; and grandchildren Eric, Craig, Edward J., Michael, Amelia, and Selena. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (nee Splitt).

(Rumy), grandchildren Sarah, Melissa, Karen, Thomas, Michele, Nicholas and Ana and brother John (Terry). He was preceded in death by siblings Thomas (Frances), Gus (Madge) and Mary (Thomas) Caputo.

Before her retirement in 1987, Ms. Tarbox worked at First National Bank in Chicago where she was the administrative assistant to the board of directors. She is survived by her nephew, James (Karen) Tarbox; niece, Catherine Tarbox; friend, Patricia Kelly and her dog, Clancy. A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, July 2 at St. James Church in Arlington Hts. Burial was at All Saints cemetery, Des Plaines. Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., handled the arrangements.
