Emily Ann Szatko (nee Glodek, 84, of Naperville, died Aug. 26, 2009 at Plum Grove Nursing Home in Palatine. She was born Apr. 7, 1925 in Chicago. She was the wife of the late Frank; mother of Greg (Barbara) Szatko and Susan Hardey; and grandmother of six. A funeral mass was held Saturday, Aug. 29, at St. Edna Church in Arlington Hts.

Thomas E. Taheny, 58, of Niles, died on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at Lutheran General Hospital. He was born Dec. 11, 1950, in Chicago, and worked in commercial real estate. Funeral services were held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 22. Interment was private at Mt. Carmel cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Taheny; sisters, Patricia (Richard) Skinner and Nancy (Jack) Kowal and brother, John.

Marlene F. Vachuta was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Chicago. She died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, in Arlington Hts. She is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Debbie and Kevin and her cat, Sweetie. A funeral mass took place at St. Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Hts.

Anna "Betty" Ade, 78, of Elgin, formerly of Des Plaines, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in Elgin, at the home of her son. She was formerly Anne E. Gleason and was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Chicago. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for many years for several doctors at area hospitals. She was the mother of David, Michael, Patrick and the late Richard; grandmother of Steve, David, Alexander and Matthew; great-grandmother of Jaylen and Loriann. She is also survived by her sister, Elaine. A memorial luncheon was held Aug. 8 at Old Warsaw Inn in Harwood Heights.

Anna Barreca, 103, of Wheeling, died on Aug. 27, 2009. She was the wife of the late Frank Barreca for 70 years; mother of Rosalie (Leonard) Thurston and the late Paul (late Kathryn) Barreca; grandmother of Jeffrey (Dyna) Hicks, Sharon Wyatt, Frank (Elaine) Barreca, Ann (Chris) Norman, David (Mary) Barreca, and John Barreca; great-grandmother of 10. A mass was held Aug. 29 at Addolorata Villa Chapel in Wheeling with interment at All Saints cemetery.
Norma W. Bishop
Long-time Des Plainesite
Norma W. Bishop, of Roseville, California, and formally a long-time resident of Des Plaines, Illinois, died August 11, 2009 following heart complications.
Born January 20, 1929, she was the daughter of Myron M. and Ruth Irene (Nolan) West of Wisconsin. She married
her one true love, WH (Bill) Bishop, on November 6, 1946. Together they raised four children: David L. Bishop of Wausau, Wisconsin; Kristine R. (Dale) Hoffman of Sycamore, Illinois; Steven A. Bishop of Columbus, Ohio; and Amy S. (Deb) Johnson of Roseville, California. They were blessed with six grandchildren: Kayte, Sarah, Kendra, Amber, Anthony and Alysha. Since Bill's death in 2001, three great grandsons joined the family: Bryan William in 2004, and Lukas Michael and Will Steven in 2006.
Norma also leaves behind three sisters: Jeanne Means of Antigo, Wisconsin; Sue (Robert) Schmidt of St. Peter, Minnesota; and Roberta Bonnell of Merrill, Wisconsin, as well as much extended family and many dear friends.
A memorial service in honor of her life will be held on Sept. 19, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Prospect with Rev. Dan Swinson officiating.
Patricia L. Black

Visitation for Patricia L. Black (nee Scott), a 45-year resident of Mt. Prospect and most recently Arlington Hts., took place on Aug. 21, 2009 at Friedrich's Funeral Home, Mt. Prospect. She was born Mar. 15, 1927 in Terre Haute, Ind. She attended the University of Illinois and Indiana State University, where she met her husband of 49 years. She was active in the Mt. Prospect Art League. She died on Sunday, Aug. 16. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Michael) Mohrbacher, David Black and Alan (Beth) Black; her nine grandchildren, great-granddaughter and cousin. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Robert J. Bush, of Lake Barrington, formerly of Mt. Prospect, died on Aug. 28, 2009. He was the husband of Mary Rita Bush; father of Robert K. (Paula), Mary Jo (David) Gumowski, Deborah Anne (Gary) Wienckowski, Barbara (Edward) Hoskins, Martin (Elizabeth) and Michael (Barbara) Bush; grandfather of 14; and great-grandfather of three. A funeral mass was held at St. Raymond De Penafort Church, Mt. Prospect. Entombment at All Saints Mausoleum.

Raymond Caccamo, of Rolling Meadows, died on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at home. He was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Chicago. He was trained as a barber and loved his family and the Chicago Cubs. He is survived by his wife, Marsha; daughter, Kelly; son-in-law John and son Matthew; brothers William, Ronald (Connie); nephews, niece, great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial mass was held Thursday, Aug. 27 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Inverness. Interment was private.

Mary Jane F. Giesea, 86, died on Sept. 1, 2009, in Des Plaines. She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Chicago. She lived in Des Plaines since 1953. She was the wife of the late Emmo V; daughter of the late Thomas M. and Marie J. Collins; mother of William E. (Deborah) and Raymond. She will be missed by five sisters, nieces and nephews. A funeral service took place Monday, Sept. 7, at G. L. Hills Funeral Home, Des Plaines. Interment at Ridgewood cemetery.

Interment was at All Saints cemetery. She was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Evanston. She was an active member of St. Stephen Church. She died Saturday, Aug. 29 at Oakton Pavillion. She was the wife of the late Raymond Gruhn; mother of Raymond Jr. (Bette) Gruhn, Margaret (Thomas) Fox and Kathleen (Ronald) Drews; grandmother of five; sister of Thomas (Kathleen) Whitson and Richard (Darlene) Whitson; great-grandmother of nine and aunt to many.

George M. Hamm, 57, of Elk Grove Village, died on Aug. 17, 2009. Prayers were said Friday, Aug. 21, at Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village. Mass followed at St. Julian Eymard Catholic Church. Mr. Hamm was born in Rochester, N.Y. He was employed with Northwest Community Hospital in the IT profession. He was a Navy SeaBee veteran. He was the husband of Jeanette M.; father of Carolyn, Elizabeth (Eric Epstein) and Eric (Bianca) Hamm; grandfather of Ian Epstein and brother of Noreen Massmer.

A celebration of life service for Dolores Hernet, (nee Guerzon), 73, of Mt. Prospect, was held Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Moose Lodge #660 in Mt. Prospect. Mrs. Hernet was born Aug. 30, 1935 in Chicago and died Aug. 29 in Cary. Survivors include her children, Sandra (Tom) Hernet-Ryan; Glenn, Gregory, Janet Snyder-Blauvelt, Laura Hernet and Jennifer Murray; 10 grandchildren; one great-grand-daughter and her brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard and son, Gary.

Lisa J. Hibbs, (nee Zimmerman), 49, of Mt. Prospect, died on Aug. 28, 2009. She was born Apr. 29, 1960 in Chicago. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. She was the mother of Tony and James Hibbs; sister of Paul (Tish) Zimmerman and Erik (Kim) Zimmerman. She is also survived by her former husband, Anthony Hibbs.

Mary Jerz (nee Siracusa), 74, of Park Ridge, died on Sept. 2, 2009. She was the wife of Frank; mother of Frank and Mark; sister of Angeline Miles, Louise Menk, the late Charles, Phil and John Siracusa, Beatrice Letto, Grace Stack, Sara Nichols, Cora Bowden, Lena Dieden and Catherine Karhuma. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 5 at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, Park Ridge and St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment was at All Saints cemetery.

Michelle Frances Krupa, 26, of Palatine, died on Aug. 16, 2009. She was born Oct. 29, 1982, in Chicago. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 19, from Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, Palatine, to St. Theresa Church for Mass. Interment was at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery. She is survived by her parents, Zenon and Donna Krupa; sister Tracey, Robert and Michael Krupa and her grandparents, Kamila Krupa and Joseph and Honorata Jablonski.

James Francis Larkowski was born Dec. 4, 1946, in Chicago and died Aug. 16, 2009 at ManorCare of Rolling Meadows. Mr. Larkowski was a senior sales representative for Cummins Allison since 1997. Survivors include his wife, Sandra; children Stephen (Julie), Keith (Jill), and Sgt. Mark Larkowski; grandson Justin James and brother Roger (Judy) Larkowski.
