A funeral service for Lillian M. Lindquist, 83, of Rolling Meadows was held Friday, Aug. 31 at All Saints Lutheran Church in Palatine. Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 30 at Meadows Funeral Home. Ms. Lindquist was born on March 24, 1924 in New York City. She worked as a secretary in the pathology department of Northwest Community Hospital. She passed away on Aug. 27, 2007 at Northwest Community Hospital. Ms. Lindquist is preceded in death by her sister Irene Lennart. She is survived by her husband Carl, children Anitra L. (Richard) O'Connor, Dr. Carl (Kim) Lindquist Usaf, Theodore K. (Sonya) Lindquist and Matthew P. (Sherry) Lindquist and grandchildren Kerstin, Paul and Martin O'Connor, Anna, Carl E., Alex, Christopher, Ryan and Carsten Lindquist. LUCILLE G. LUND

A funeral Mass for Lucille G. Lund (nee Coleman), 92, took place Wednesday, Aug. 29 from Ryan-Parke Funeral Home in Park Ridge at 9:45 a.m. to St. Paul of the Cross Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be at St. Boniface cemetery. Mrs. Lund was born on Feb. 22, 1915 in Chicago. She moved to Park Ridge in 1940 and was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish for 67 years. She was also a member of the Mother of Sorrows Guild, the Park Ridge Book Club, the Park Ridge Women's Club, and the Talcott House Condo Association. She was part owner of a mail-order company, Anne Marie's, and most recently was a resident at the Heritage House in Des Plaines. She was accomplished in needlepoint, enjoyed travel, pinochle, and ballroom dancing. She died at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007. Her husband Edward J. preceded her in death. Her children Donald A. (Patricia), Carl E., and Craig J. (Carol); her grandchildren Heather, Sarah, David, Michael, Stephen, Katharine, Matthew, and Christopher Lund and Diane Berge; her six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews survive her. A memorial service for Jean M. Raymond (nee Gauthier), 81, took place Friday, Aug. 31 at Northwest Covenant Church in Mt. Prospect. Mrs. Raymond was born on July 23, 1926 in Ishpeming, Mich. She died on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007 at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights. Her husband William, parents Signe (nee Lindquist) and Victor Gauthier, and siblings Shirley (late Leslie) Coduti and Norman Gauthier preceded her in death. Her children Deborah (Shane) Purpuro and William (Yvonne) Raymond; her grandchildren Daniel and Laura Raymond; and her siblings Lorraine (late Woody) Manty, Barbara (Norman) Pennala, and Sharon (Matt) Bjorne survive her. A funeral service for Elizabeth "Bette" Pecorella, 93, of Des Plaines was held Wednesday at Our Lady of Ransom Church in Niles. Visitation was held Tuesday at Oehler Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside. Ms. Pecorella was born on Aug. 26, 1914 in St. Paul, Minn. She was a resident of Des Plaines for 30 years and was a homemaker for her family. She passed away on Aug. 31, 2007 in Park Ridge. She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry and sisters Pauline Graziano, Jean Pisano, Mary Hayes, Louise Pavone and Rose Pavone. Ms. Pecorella is survived by her son Lawrence (Lynne) Pecorella and granddaughter Lauren (Ryan Pierce) Pecorella.

A funeral service for Beatrice R. Tarkowski (nee Glash), 84, took place Saturday, Sept. 1, 10 a.m., at Grove Memorial Chapel, with visitation on Friday from 5-9 p.m. The interment will be at St. Adalbert cemetery in Niles. Mrs. Tarkowski died on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Legends of Massillon Nursing Center in Ohio. She was a resident of Canton, Ohio since 1990, but had previously lived in Elk Grove for 32 years.

A funeral service for Leokadia H. "Lillian" Toczyski of Mt. Prospect, 82, was held Friday, Aug. 31, at St. Raymond de Penefort Church in Mt. Prospect. Visitation was held the day before at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Entombment was conducted at All Saints Mausoleum. She was born on Dec. 9, 1924 in Poland. She passed away Monday, Aug. 27. She is survived by her children, Barbara (Ken) Nork and Edward (Bernadette); and grandchildren, Brian, Michael and Amy Toczyski.

A funeral service for Steven G. Abbate of Palatine, 61, was held Saturday, Aug. 25, at Our Lady of the Wayside Church. Visitation was Friday, Aug. 24 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Interment will be held at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Mr. Abbate was born on Apr. 5, 1946 in Chicago. He died Sunday, Aug. 19 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Marine Corps, and received the Silver Star. He was a martial arts instructor and a grand master in Kung Fu. He is survived by his children, Crystal, Anthony and Amy Abbate; and sister, Linda (Bill) Collins. Mr. Abbate was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam and Richard.

Funeral services will be held for John C. "Skip" Handzel Sr., 78, of Des Plaines, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Park Ridge on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. Interment services will be private. Handzel was born on Sept. 14, 1928 in Chicago. He worked as an architect for over 30 years with the firm of Klein and Hoffman in Chicago. He passed away on Aug. 21, 2007 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc. Handzel is survived by daughter Donna (Jeffrey) Koszczuk, sons James (Trudi) and John C. Jr., three grandchildren Beth Anne, Katrina and Joshua Koszczuk. Funeral services were held for William "Bill" Hurtt, Jr., 66, of Mt. Prospect, on Saturday, Aug. 25 at United Church of Christ in Des Plaines. Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 24 at Oehler Funeral Home. Entombment was at Memory Garden cemetery in Arlington Heights. Hurtt was born on June 28, 1941 in Chicago. He was the owner of BJ Electric in Prospect Heights and was an electrician for 30 years. He loved sports cars and was a member of the Sports Car Club of America. He was a scoutmaster with the Northwest Suburban Boy Scouts of America and Tribal chief in the Indian guides for 10 years. Hurtt also sponsored Little League in Prospect Heights. He died on Aug. 19, 2007 at Lutheran General Hospital. Hurtt is survived by his wife Judith E. (Shultz), sons William L. III (Monika) and James R. (Tiffany Kunn), daughter Kimberly Sue, grandchildren Savanna and Andrew, brother Steven (Debbie) and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association or the American Heart Association.

A funeral Mass for Paul M. Kroes, 78, took place Monday, Aug. 27 at Queen of the Rosary Church. Interment was at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery. Visitation was at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village on Sunday, Aug. 26. Mr. Kroes was born in Muskegon, Mich. and served in the medical corps in Germany during the Korean War. He was a Univ. of Michigan fan, worked as a purchasing manager, and lived in Elk Grove Village for 38 years. He died at Kindred Hospital on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007. His parents Paul H. and Nell nee Westerman Kroes preceded him in death. He is survived by Patricia M. nee Beard, his wife of 54 years; his children Pamela (Ernie) Sardilli, Paul Jr. (Nancy), Perry (Sue), Penelope (Craig Schwartz), and Preston (Wendy Bredow) Kroes; his sister Louis Culver-Stevens; his grandchildren Christine (Scott) Hirsch, Michelle, Brian, Meghan, Lauren, and Todd; his great-grandchildren Christopher, Adam, Chloe, Matthew, Alice, and Heather; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 3 to 9 p.m. at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mr. Lang was born on Dec. 12, 1923 in Chicago. He died Saturday, Aug. 25. Mrs. Vero was born on Aug. 8, 1915 in Chicago. She was a homemaker who knitted blankets for veterans and was a member of the Junior Women's Club of Des Plaines. She died in Rolling Meadows on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007. Her husband Bernard, her son Dennis, and five siblings preceded her in death. Her grandchild Eska Marie Garrison-Vero; her great-nieces and nephews Richard (Lynn) Hassler, Michael (Barbara) Hallinan, Diane Hallinan, Claire (Carol) Wesling, Roy (Lois) Zemack, and Joan Homorody; her great-great-nephews John and Robert Brayton; and many nieces and nephews survive her.
