A funeral Mass for Margaret "Peggy" M. Carney (nee Lydon), 86, took place Tuesday, Nov. 20, at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Des Plaines. Mrs. Carney died on Friday, Nov. 16. She was born on Feb. 21, 1921 in Castle Bar, County Mayo, Ireland. A longtime resident of Des Plaines, she was active as a minister of care and sacristan at St. Stephens Church.

A funeral service for Gerald A. Castro, 70, of Glen Ellyn, was held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at St. Paul of the Cross Church in Park Ridge. Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 9 at Ryan-Parke Funeral Homes. Interment was at All Saints cemetery. Mr. Castro was born on March 22, 1937 in Chicago. He was a retired employee of the General Service Administration. He was a graduate of Loyola University Graduate School and St. Louis University. His wife, Mary Jeanne, is a former resident of Park Ridge. Mr. Castro passed away on Nov. 7, 2007 at his home. He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Coslmo and Agnes. Mr. Castro is survived by his wife Mary Jeanne, children Elizabeth (Robert) VanSpankeren, Nancy (Dennis) Flanagan, Laura (Patrick) Dingillo and Gerald J., grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Nicholas, Kevin, Glanna, Patrick, Vanessa, Michael and Joseph, siblings Dr. Joseph (Barbara) and Rosemary (Donald) Dohring and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Lynn Hofbauer-Baase, 61, took place on Saturday, Nov. 17, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Des Plaines. Interment was private. Visitation was Friday, Nov. 16, at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. She was born on Oct. 3, 1946 in Chicago. She was a Vista volunteer and very active in her community. She died on Nov. 12, 2007 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Her brother, William Pat Hofbauer, and her father, John Hofbauer, preceded her in death. Her daughter Megan Baase, her stepson Brian (Annette) Baase, her mother Claire Hofbauer, her nephews Brad and Randy Hofbauer and her siblings Doug (Suzanne) and Joyce Hofbauer survive her. He was also a certified public accountant. He is survived by his wife, Candace (nee Torello); children, John, Jeanne (Michael) Califf; grandson, Joey Califf; siblings, Richard (Beverly), Anita (Pat) Nugent, Eleanor (Michael) Duax. Mr. Lencioni was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Mary (nee Festa); and sister, Mary Christine.

Mrs. Martinek was born on Aug. 30, 1921 in Arlington Heights. She worked as a dry cleaning clerk and was very charitable to veteran causes. She died at home on Nov. 12, 2007. Her husband Henry preceded her in death. Her nephews, Wesley and John Martinek, her lifelong friend, Florence Hansen, and her great nieces and nephews survive her. Ms. Miller is preceded in death by husband Roland G. and brothers Richard, Russel, Dale and Harold McElhimey. A graveside service for Virginia B. Patek, 93, will take place today (Wednesday), 1 p.m., at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Mrs. Patek died on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Meadowbrook Manor Care Center in Naperville. She was a longtime resident of Des Plaines, moving there in 1957. She was also a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Interment was at Maryhill cemetery. Mr. Pogorzelski was born on Jan. 26, 1917 in Chicago. He worked a crew leader for Commonwealth Edison for many years and was a veteran of the Army.
