A memorial Mass for Carole Laning (nee Adamson), 51, of Lindenhurst, took place on Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Theresa Church in Palatine. Interment was private. Mrs. Laning was born on Dec. 13, 1955 in Chicago. She graduated from Sacred Heart and attended Harper College. She was a former member and president of the Palatine Women's Jaycees. She was a large contributor of community involvement in Lindenhurst, enjoyed sewing, and was a member of the Valparaiso University Parents Council. She died on Oct. 23, 2007. Her father, Harry Adamson, preceded her in death. Her children Christine and Michelle Laning; her former husband Virgil Laning; her pets Steve and Sophie; her mother Marjorie Adamson; her siblings Richard (Donna) Adamson, Joan (Steve) Martinez, Mark (late Kim) Adamson, Elizabeth DeSimone, James (Donna) Adamson, David (Tonni) Adamson, Matthew (Kathy) Adamson, Amy (Rob) Wiltgen, and Myles (Kim) Adamson; and many nieces and nephews survive her. A funeral Mass for Elaine Lasare (nee Schroeder), 83, took place on Saturday, Oct. 27 at St. Monica Church in Chicago. Interment was at Maryhill cemetery. Visitation was Friday, Oct. 26 at Cumberland Chapels in Norridge. Mrs. Lasare was born on Nov. 21, 1923 in Chicago. She died on Oct. 24, 2007 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Her son Chuck Lasare and her brother Raymond Schroeder preceded her in death. Her husband Fred; her children Rich (Bobbie) Lasare, Carol (George) Nichols, Joe (Beth) Lasare, and Mike (Regina) Lasare; her grandchildren Lisa, John Jackie, Julie, Christine, Carolyn, Kimberly, Joey, and Michael; her great-grandchildren Nicole, Amanda, Eric, and Aiden; and her brother Paul (Fritzie) Schroeder survive her.

A Mass for Mary E. Malloy (Mladic), 83, took place Tuesday, Oct. 30, at St. Stephen Church. Mrs. Malloy died on Friday, Oct. 26, at Lutheran General Hospital. She was born on Oct. 1, 1924. She had lived in Des Plaines since 1961.

A funeral service for Betty M. Reiber (nee Temple), 88, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 3, 11 a.m., at Oehler Funeral Home at Ridgewood Memorial Park. A visitation at the same location begins at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will also be at Ridgewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Reiber died on Monday, Oct. 29, at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA, where she lived. She was born on Sept. 18, 1919 in Wisconsin. She was an elementary school teacher at Maple School in Des Plaines for 30 years. She had lived in Des Plaines for 60 years.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 22 at the funeral home. Mrs. Adam-Schiddel was born on July 23, 1922 in Chicago. She worked as a bank officer at Bell Federal Saving and Loan and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Des Plaines. She died on Oct. 19, 2007 in Park Ridge. He husband Earl F. Schiddel preceded her in death. Her sons Raymond H. Adam and Frank W. (Gretchen) Schiddel; her grandchildren Kenneth, Daniel, and Jeffery; and her great-grandchildren Bailey and Kenneth survive her.

Visitation for Delores Eiler Bruns, 82, of Antioch, formerly of Arlington Heights, took place Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Interment was private. Mrs. Bruns was born on May 23, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the owner, operator, and instructor at the Dolores Eiler Schools of Dance in Arlington Heights. She was also a volunteer director and speaker for the Advancement of Ethical Hypnosis and the Mid-American Hypnosis Conference. She died on Oct. 15, 2007 at Victory Lakes Continuing Care in Lindenhurst. Her parents, Richard and Ruby Bernard, preceded her in death. Her husband of 21 years, Raymond G. Bruns; her children Richard and Jack Eiler; and her grandchildren Amanda, Erica, Emma, Andrew, Danielle, and Jason survive her.

A funeral Mass for Paul J. Disher, 78, took place Friday, Oct. 19, at Mary Seat of Wisdom Church. Mr. Fisher had been living in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. for the past 15 years. He died on Monday, Oct. 15. He was born on April 17, 1929 in Chicago. He was a volunteer fireman in Park Ridge, and also a Navy veteran during the Korean War.

A funeral service for Linda Hicks, nee Manseau, of Elk Grove Village, 45, took place Saturday, Oct. 6 at Evangelical Free Church of Des Plaines. Visitation was the previous day. Ms. Hicks was born in Chicago. The 20 year Elk Grove resident worked at F.P.M. Heat Treating for 15 years. She passed away at her home. "She loved people. Didn't have an enemy, " said her husband, Anthony Hicks. "She was always smiling. Loved her kids, her life and watching the kids play sports. She was involved in her church, the Evangelical Free Church of Des Plaines. Sang in the choir, " added Hicks. "Linda loved board games. She was very outgoing. Loved comedy clubs and wine tasting, going to the Dells and Door County. She was a wonderful wife, mother and will be missed." She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Angeline Manseau. She is survived by her loving husband Anthony "Mike" Hicks, devoted sons Michael Hicks and Christopher Hicks, step-daughter Jennifer Hicks, caring siblings George J. Manseau, Jr., Marian (Thomas) Cheatham, and Susan (Robert) Koznecki.
