A funeral service for Matthew M. Hill, 50, took place Tuesday, Dec. 4, at St. Colette Church. Mr. Hill died on Friday, Nov. 30, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. He was born on Aug. 15, 1957 in Chicago. He worked in the banking field for over 30 years. He was a graduate of St. Viator High School, class of 1975, and an active member of St. Colette Church.

PATRICIA G. KACZYNSKI
of Niles

A funeral mass for Patricia G. Kaczynski, 76, of Niles, was celebrated Dec. 10 in St. John Brebeuf Church. Burial followed in Maryhill cemetery. A homemaker and a native of Thorie, Wisconsin, she died Dec. 7 in St. Matthew Center for Health. Widow of the late LeRoy Kaczynski, she is survived by her son, Brian, of Niles, and a daughter, Gayle Quedens; grandchildren Elyse and Kristen Quedens; great-grandchild Alexis Venaro; and siblings Marvin (Catherine) Piwoni, and Marcela (Robert) Major; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by siblings Joseph Piwoni, John (the late Helen) Piwoni, and Margie (Martin) Prasnicki. Memorials are requested to the Misericordia Home or Rainbow Hospice, Park Ridge. Arrangements were by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home.

BERNICE LETH
Formerly of Arlington Heights

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 5 for Bernice Leth (nee Schulenburg) of Woodstock, formerly of Arlington Heights, at Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights. Interment was at the Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Heights. Mrs. Leth was born in 1913 in Arlington Heights and died on Sunday, Dec. 2 at the Hearthstone Manor in Woodstock. Leth is survived by daughters Joy (Dave) Gallimore, Daun (Ted) Lisee and Stephanie (Bob) McRae, 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Leth was preceded in death by her husband Frank S. Leth, mother Bertha (nee Meyn) Schulenburg, father August Leth and sister Esther (Al) Kahling.

THOMAS E. McCLELLAN
Lawyer in Arlington Heights

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 28 for Thomas E. McClellan of Streamwood at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Hts. McClellan was born in Chicago in 1946 and died in Hoffman Estates on Friday, Nov. 23. McClellan was a prominent lawyer in Arlington Hts. with the firm of Drost Kivlahan, McMahon and O'Connor. He was also active in the Palatine Lions Club. McClellan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kay (nee Holsapple), son Ian, mother Doris (nee White), sisters; Linda (Craig) Wilson of Colorado and Gail (Alan) Bartz of Texas and many nieces and nephews. McClellan was preceded in death by his father Charles.

KEITH PETERSON
of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Keith Rex Peterson, 55, of Rolling Meadows will be held shortly. Mr. Peterson was born Oct. 22, 1952 in Chicago. He was self-employed artist and owned the K Rex Advertising and Illustration Corp. He is survived by her wife Roberta, children Anna Kristina and James Peterson and parents Kenneth and Marion Peterson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. ROSEMARIE SCHROEDER
of Wheeling

A funeral service for Rosemarie E. Schroeder of Wheeling, 77, was held Monday, Dec. 10 at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Visitation was held at the same location prior to the service. Entombment was held at Memory Garden cemetery in Arlington Heights. She was born on Jan. 5, 1930 in Hamburg, Germany. She passed away Friday, Dec. 7. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her companion, Norman L. Leff; sister, Lore (Edward) May; nephew, Volker (Pat) Engel; godchildren, Heidi (Adam) Engel Sniatek; great nieces and nephews, Andreas (Johanna) Engel and Kelsey (Valerie) Engel R.I. Mrs. Schroeder was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Schroeder; children, Otto and Olga (Oelke) Ebeling; siblings, Willi and Ilse.

STELLA SCHULTZ
of Mt. Prospect

A Mass for Stella Schultz (nee Trojanowicz), 87, took place Tuesday, Dec. 11, at St. Raymond Church. Mrs. Schultz died on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Manor Care Nursing Home. She was born on March 1, 1920. She formerly lived in Schaumburg.

JEAN SLUPIK
of Niles

A funeral service for Jean Slupik of Niles, 86, was held Saturday, Dec. 8 at St. John Brebeuf Church. Visitation was Friday. Interment at Maryhill cemetery on Milwaukee Avenue in Niles. Ms. Slupik was born Nov. 24, 1921 in Monessen, Pa. She worked as a billing clerk in the publishing industry. She passed away Saturday Dec. 1 at home. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Slupik, her parents, Jan and Stefania (nee Haberek) Kowalski, and siblings Stella, Alex, Eugene (Phillis), and Eleanor (Joseph) Stepko. She is survived by her children Patrick (Kathy) Slupik, Marleine (Timothy) Golden, grandchildren Daniel Sugrue, Ryan Slupik, Brian Golden, and Kevin Golden, and brother-in-law Chester (Evelyn) Slupik. Contributions to Rainbow Hospice, 444 N. Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, Ill. Funeral arrangements made by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home.

VERNA SZATEK
of Niles

A funeral mass for Verna Szatek, 99, of Niles, was celebrated Dec. 11 in St. Juliana Church. Burial followed in Maryhill cemetery. Arrangements were by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. A native of Chicago, she died Dec. 8 in Forest Villa Nursing Home, 30 days before her 100th birthday. She was a homemaker. Widow of the late Frank Szatek, she is survived by three daughters, Elaine (the late Richard) Deja, Dorian (Roy) Kosinski, and Dorothy (William) Hillebold; and grandchildren Bruce (Sue) Szatek; Debbie, Sherry, and Robert Kosinski; and Bonnie (Jack) Domingo, Sandy Duncan, Nancy (Brett) Epperson, Don (Isabella) Soller, Cheryl Deja, and David (Sandy) Deja. She also is survived by two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Roy (Elaine).

WALTER C. WEADLEY
World War II veteran, Formerly of Elk Grove Village

A funeral service for Walter C. Weadley of Schaumburg, 81, took place Thursday, Dec. 6 at Grove Memorial Chapel. Visitation was Wednesday. Interment at Bridgewood cemetery in Des Plaines. Mr. Weadley was born in Chicago. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was former owner of Mohawk Contracting. He passed away at home with family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marguerite (nee Streger), caring children Donald (Laura) Weadley, Susan, Caron, Jeanne (John) LaFayette, Mary (William) O'Donnell, and JoAnne O'Toole, brother Charles Weadley, 17 loving grandchildren, and one grandson.

JEAN ANN WILLIAMS
of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Jean Ann Williams (nee Arend) of Rolling Meadows, 66, was held Friday, Dec. 7 at St. Colette Church. Visitation was held at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. She was born on Mar. 4, 1941 in Chicago. She passed away Sunday, Dec. 2 at her home. She had worked for Harper College as an administrative assistant for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Robert (Margaret) and James (Cheryl) Hoffman, Ronald (Gina) and Michael; grandchildren, Jessica and Samantha Jarvis, Michaela and Shannon Williams, Maxwell and Mason Hoffman; and sister, Joan Arend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

MARION B. ZMEK
of Rolling Meadows

A prayer service for Marion B. Zmek of Rolling Meadows, 92, took place Thursday, Dec. 6 at Glueckert Funeral Home. Visitation was Wednesday. Interment at Memory Gardens cemetery. Marion was born May 3, 1915 in Chicago to James and Mildred (nee Hanc) Doskar. She passed away at ManorCare of Rolling Meadows on Dec. 3. Marion is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry J. Zmek, her brothers, Robert and Frank Greske, and her sister Mildred Novotny. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Zmek of Rolling Meadows. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tenn.

VALERIE J. BECKER
Honored volunteer

A funeral service for Valerie June Becker (nee Feilen), an award-winning volunteer and technology manager in Schaumburg, was held Thursday, Dec. 27 at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Burial was private. A native of Chicago and a resident of Schaumburg for 41 years, she died Dec. 24 in her home. She was a materials coordinator at Shared Technologies for 14 years and a long-time water aerobics instructor at the Schaumburg YMCA. She was named Volunteer of the Year at the YMCA earlier this year. Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Thomas; children James, Karyn (Douglas) Bean, and Kristen (John) Stoffel; brother Glen (Jeanne) Feilen, a sister Linda (Claude) Matula; and grandchildren Joshua, Devin, Wynton, Genevieve, John E., and Madeline.

JAMES F. COYLE
of Park Ridge

A funeral service for James F. Coyle, 79, of Park Ridge was held on Thursday, Dec. 17, at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Cooney Funeral Home. Interment was at All Saints cemetery. Mr. Coyle was a native of Knocknalower, Belmullet, Co. Mayo, Ireland. He died on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007. He is preceded in death by his siblings Bridget (Aggie), Ellen, Mary and Patrick. Mr. Coyle is survived by his wife Anne Mae, children Patrick (Jodi), James T. (Margaret), Kevin (Mary Ann), Sheila and Maureen, grandchildren Anabel, Jack, Conor, Kaylee, Catherine, Celia, Jimmy, Ian, Matthew, Noel, Lily and Patrick, siblings Anthony, Evelyn and Sean and many nieces and nephews.

ELLEN DESBLES
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Ellen V. Desbles, 72, took place Friday, Dec. 28, 11 a.m., at Oehler Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was the day before. She was born on Jan. 14, 1935 in New Orleans, LA. She died on Dec. 23, 2007, at Resurrection Hospital. She worked for Neil, Gerber and Eisenberg law offices for 20 years.

MARY J. DWYER
of Arlington Heights

A funeral Mass for Mary J. Dwyer, 84, took place on Friday, Dec. 28 at St. James Church in Arlington Heights. Interment was at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery in Palatine. Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 27, at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Mrs. Dwyer was born on Jan. 10, 1923 in Dublin, Ireland. She worked as a clerk for Illinois Bell and AT&T; for more than 38 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a 45-year member of St. James Church and her family remembers her as a "Jeopardy Champion" and a sweets lover. She died on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights. Her husband George, her sons Thomas and G. Christopher, her parents, and her sister Eilish Plautz preceded her in death. Her daughters Patricia (Robert) Clem and Connie Dwyer, her daughter-in-law Marianne Dwyer, and her grandchildren Kati, Tommy, and Danny Vavrinek, Kevin and Kerry Dwyer, Christopher and Megan Clem, and Erin (Raphael) Bauron survive her.

VIRGINIA FRANZAK
of Niles

A funeral service for Virginia Franzak (nee Paulus), 87, took place on Saturday, Dec. 22 at Memorial Park cemetery. Interment followed the service. There was no visitation. Mrs. Franzak was born on Sept. 13, 1920 in Chicago. She was a homemaker and died at home on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007. Her parents preceded her in death. Her husband Arthur, her daughter-in-law Winifred (late Barry) Franzak, and her grandchildren Scott and Julie Franzak survive her. Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles made funeral arrangements.

of Arlington Heights

Funeral services for Rosemary V. Hillary (nee Kluch), 83, are private. Mrs. Hillary died on Tuesday, Dec. 25, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. She was born June 8, 1924 in Chicago.

JOHN MILAS JR.
Air Force staff sergeant, of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for John B. Milas Jr. of Arlington Heights, 74, was held Friday, Dec. 21, at Friedrich's Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Visitation was held the day before at the same location. Interment followed at Wheeling Township cemetery. He was born on Dec. 5, 1933 in Chicago. He passed away Saturday, Dec. 15 at his home, He enjoyed fishing, computers and playing pool, while socializing with the guys from the senior center and the Legion hall in Arlington Heights. He was also a staff sergeant in the Air Force for four years. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. He is survived by his wife, Sally E. Milas (nee Blades); children, John B. (Gail) Milas III and Karie (Dave) Nordin; grandchildren, Charlotte, Jenna, Jack, Ellie and Annie; siblings, Norman Milas Evelyn Douglass; and many nieces and nephews.

HERTHA C. MORITZ
Centenarian from Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Hertha C. Moritz (nee Schimke), 100, took place on Monday, Dec. 31 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle. Interment was at Arlington cemetery in Elmhurst. Visitation preceded the service at the church. Mrs. Moritz was born on Sept. 5, 1907 in Chicago. She worked for Beldon Manufacturing for many years. She died on Dec. 26, 2007 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. Her husband Homer and her siblings Emma Landoch and Arthur Schimke preceded her in death. Her children Arline (Lee) Janssen, Roger (Lois) Moritz, and Carol (John) Henning, her 11 grandchildren, and her 20 great-grandchildren survive her. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 Hager St., Barrington, or the charity of your choice are appreciated.
