A funeral service for Kathryn A. Ehrhardt (nee Glines), 92, of Des Plaines, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday (Jan. 23) in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 W. Higgins Rd., Schaumburg. Interment will follow in Town of Maine cemetery, Park Ridge. Widow of the late Edward Ehrhardt, she is survived by her son, Michael (Julie); grandchildren Andy, Sean, Matt, Kelsey, Steve (Missy) Ehrhardt, and Sarah (Tom) Link; plus six great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines.

A funeral service for Joseph L. Eterno, 86, of Niles, was held Thursday, Jan. 15, at St. John Brebeuf Church. Visitation took place on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Interment was at All Saints cemetery. Mr. Eterno was born Nov. 1, 1922 in Chicago. He passed away on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at Lutheran General Hospital. He is survived by daughter Marianne (Michael Murphy), sons Michael (Cheryl) and David (Julie Ballenger), grandchildren Maricarmella, Maria, Anthony, Timothy and Elisabeth. He is preceded in death by wife Artenzia.
Theodore J. Fijalkowski

A funeral service for Theodore J. Fijalkowski, 90, of Niles, was held Saturday, Jan. 17, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Visitation took place prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment was at St. Adalbert Mausoleum. Mr. Fijalkowski was born Dec. 30, 1918 in Chicago. He was an Army veteran of WWII and member of the Theodore Roosevelt Post #4 and the Amvets Victory Post #34. He passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at Rainbow Hospice Arc. He is survived by wife Bernice and grandchildren Teddy and Natalie (Patrick) Loechl. He is preceded in death by son Ted (Dorna).

A funeral Mass for John Patrick Gallagher, 82, took place Saturday, Jan. 17, at St. Marcellin Church in Schaumburg. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation will precede the Mass. Mr. Gallagher was born on Apr. 17, 1926 in Chicago. He died on Jan. 13, 2009 at his home. His wife June preceeded in death. His wife Monica and his children Lawrence and Brian Gallagher and Kim Dara Jones survive him. Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows made funeral arrangements.

Mr. Ganley passed away on Jan. 14, 2009. He is survived by wife Mary, children James J. (Kathleen), Marie, Eileen (Michael Fahey) and John, grandchildren Erin, Kiera, James, Maura and Brid and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Richard J. Gardzelewski, 80, took place Saturday, Jan. 17 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Memorial visitation will be Friday, Jan. 16 at the funeral home. Mr. Gardzelewski was born on Sept. 12, 1928 in Chicago. He died on Jan. 12, 2008 at Manor Care of Rolling Meadows. Dolores (nee Graham), his wife of 57 years and his children Dru (Steve) Douglas, Jill (Glenn) Pugh, Richard J. Jr. (Sherrie), Julie Schachtschneider, and Beth (John) Arciszewski survive him.
Helen Ann (Kostas) Halverson
Formerly of Des Plaines
Helen Ann (Kostas) Halverson was born March 4, 1924 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Ada (Copple) and Louis Kostas. She was the older of two children, having a younger sister, Marilou (Kostas) Vosburgh. Helen passed away on January 16, 2009.
Helen spent her youth in Chicago attending public schools and graduating high school in 1942. The schools attended included Schurz High School and VonStueben High School.
Helen married
her high school sweetheart, Roger Halverson on July 12, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina where Roger was stationed before going to Europe during World War II. After the war ended, they settled in Des Plaines, Illinois and raised their family of 6 children. Helen was a partner and secretary/treasurer of Halverson Construction Inc. with Roger. They were long time members of Christ Church, United Church of Christ, Des Plaines.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved son David in 1958. Her parents, Louis in 1969 and Ada in 1983, and her husband Roger in 1989. Also preceding her in death was nephew Jacob Vosburgh in 2002 and dear friend Ray Palicki in 2008.
After over 40 years in Des Plaines, Helen and Roger relocated to Antioch, Illinois and again to Crystal Lake, Illinois in 1987. Helen was the caretaker for Roger during a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Helen was a long time member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Crystal Lake.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Sue Anne McNeil and her husband, Jim of Crystal Lake, Illinois. Son Paul and Andrea of Elgin, Illinois. Son Jon and wife Joann of Crystal Lake, who were primary caretakers of Helen in her later years. Son Mark and wife Jeanine of Des Plaines, Illinois. Foster son Bill Lunsford of Morris, Illinois. And very dear family friend, Cindy Palicki, of Northville, Michigan.
Helen is survived by grandchildren Michelle (McNeil) Roof of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Kristin (McNeil) Elsner and husband Jim of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Dave Halverson and his fiancé Heather and son, Nicholas of Colorado, Katie Halverson of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Casey Halverson and her fiancé Brandon Todd of Palatine, Carly Halverson of Des Plaines, Illinois, Matthew Ohm of California and Jim Ohm of Wheeling, Illinois.
There are also four great grandchildren, Colin Roof, Courtney Roof, Zach Elsner and Nate Elsner.
Helen is also survived by her sister, Marilou (Kostas) Vosburgh and her husband, Dr. Richard Vosburgh of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and their children, Steve Vosburgh and wife Julie of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and Peter Vosburgh and wife AnneMarie of Fergus, Ontario, Canada and their son, Matt. Dear friends Suzan, Ed, Don, Fred, Jon Hahnfeldt.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ.

Mr. Hill was born March 31, 1958 in Phoenix, Arizona. He passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, at his home in Hutsonville, Illinois. Mr. Hill is survived by mother Jane M., wife RoseMarie, daughter Krystle, sisters Pam (Thayer) Davis, Janet Hill, brother Duane (Donna) Hill, father-in-law Joseph Covelli, sister-in-law Felicia (Greg) Jayes, uncle Ron (Susan) Mateja and nephews and nieces Andrea and Kate Davis, Blake, Jacob and Nathan Hill, David, Joseph and Michael Manseau and Alexa, Dominic, Zachary and Mario Jayes. His wife Lola M. (nee Peterson) preceded him in death. His son Ronald W. (Elaine) Kraemer survives him.
