Korean War veteran From Las Vegas

A funeral service for Henry "Hank" Dougherty, 74, took place on Friday, Jan. 25, at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Interment was at Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Heights. Visitation preceded the funeral at the funeral home. Mr. Dougherty served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He also worked as an insurance agent. He died on Jan. 18, 2008. His wife Cecelia Dougherty (nee Case); his daughters Elizabeth (Steven) Lehnert and Jeaninne (Perry) Carlin; his grandchildren Anthony, Vincent, Sophia, and Andrew; and his sister Patricia (Rod) Monroe survive him.

GLORIA GRUNST
of Chicago

A funeral service for Gloria Marie Grunst (nee Matiasek) of Chicago, 85, will be held today (Wednesday), 10 a.m. at Queen of All Saints Basilica. Visitation was held yesterday (Tuesday) at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Chicago. She was born on Dec. 7, 1922 in Chicago. She passed away Sunday, Jan. 27 in Chicago. She is survived by her children, Herbert, Christine (the late Ralph) Blum and Ed (Jean); grandchildren, Jennifer, Debbie, Katie and Brian; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Braden, Madison, Jameson and Nicholas; siblings, Leonard Matiasek and Irene Dusek; and friends, Victor DeMartino, Gloria Currier and Elaine and Bob Einwiller. Mrs. Grunst was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert and brother, George. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society is appreciated.

ELIZABETH HAYES
of Arlington Heights

Visitation for Elizabeth Hayes (nee Grady), formerly of Park Ridge, took place on Monday, Jan. 28 at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Mrs. Hayes was born in Chicago. She loved spending time with her family and friends, doing crossword puzzles, reading, dining out, and traveling. She was proud of her Southside Irish roots. She died on Jan. 24, 2008 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights. Her husband, Robert Hayes preceded her in death. Her daughters Diane (Jack) Zajac and Lisa (Michael) Pozzi; her grandchildren Joseph and Patrick Zajac and Jacob and Connor Pozzi; and her brother-in-law Charles Hayes survive her. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Claretians - National Shrine of St. Jude are appreciated.

JEWEL HENKES
Long-time Des Plaines resident

Jewel Henkes, 80, (nee Verwey) passed away at home on Monday, Jan. 21. Born in Racine, Wisconsin on Sept. 13, 1927, Mrs. Henkes was a long time resident of Des Plaines. She was employed at General Molded, Kmart and United Airlines. After retirement, she started a sewing business making dog bandannas and other pet accessories. Mrs. Henkes is preceded in death by her husband, Steve, and son, Jeff. She is survived by son, Mark, daughters Debbie and Becky, daughter-in-law Laura, granddaughters Mary and Margaret, twin sister Joan, brothers Don and Paul. A private service will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Illinois is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Chicagoland Dog Rescue, PO Box 91927 Elk Grove Village, IL 60009.

ALBERT C. HUBER
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Albert C. Huber, 98, of Des Plaines, will be held at 10 a.m. today (Friday) at St. Stephen Church. Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at Oehler Funeral Home. Interment will be Queen of Heaven. Mr. Huber was born on Jan. 11, 1910 in Chicago. He was a retired Chicago Police officer. He is preceded in death by the late Harold (Olive) Huber. Mr. Huber is survived by wife Margaret, son Charles (Maryann), daughter Patricia (Edward) Weber, grandchildren Mary (Edward) Cote, Patrick (Jenni) Huber, Robert Huber, Anthony (Caroline) Weber and Jennifer (Matthew) Baker and his six great-grandchildren.

DELORIS E. KEES
of Elk Grove Village

A funeral service for Deloris E. "Dee" Kees, 71, of Elk Grove Village, was held on Monday, Jan. 28, at St. Julian Eymard Church. Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 27, at Grove Memorial Chapel and interment was at St. Michael the Archangel. Ms. Kees was born in Salem. She was a loving homemaker for her family. She passed away on Jan. 23, 2008 at Manor Care of Elk Grove Village. Mrs. Kees is preceded in death by her son Robert P. Kees, parents Dallas and Georgia Huff and brother Larry (Barbara). She is survived by husband Anthony Sr., sons Anthony A., Jr. and Kevin M., daughter Elizabeth M. (Brian) Combs and brother Jerry L. Huff.

HENRY P. KIELDYKOWSKI
Army Veteran From Niles

A funeral service for Henry P. Kieldykowski, 87, will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at St. John Brebeuf Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Maryhill cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Mr. Kieldykowski was born on Dec. 16, 1920, in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army then worked in a factory. He died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. His wife, Florence (nee Cholewiak Kieldykowski), his parents Peter and Wladyslawa nee (Oskowiak Kieldykowski), and his brother Eugene (late Anastasia) Kieldyk preceded him in death. His children Karen (Thomas) Dessent and Joyce (Dennis) Swiatek; his grandchildren Joshua, Katie, and Zachary; his sister Lucille (Raymond) Cholewiak; and many nieces and nephews survive him.

LOIS M. KORPER
of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Lois M. Korper (nee Ranker), 78, will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at St. Colette Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mrs. Korper was born on Nov. 15, 1929 in Chicago. She worked for many years in the food service department of Rolling Meadows High School. She died on Jan. 27, 2008 at St. Alexuis Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Her husband, Frank, preceded her in death. Her children Debbie (John) Archacki, Lynn (Kevin) Erdmann, and Thomas (Michelle) Korper; her grandchildren Kristin and Kyle Erdmann and Joshua and Zachary Korper; and her sister La Verne Reilly survive her.

EILEEN (ELLEN) KOSINSKI
of Edison Park

A funeral service for Eileen (Ellen) Kosinski (nee Jones), 53, took place on Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Juliana Church. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 24, at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Mrs. Kosinski was a lifelong employee of the CTA bringing wit, humor, and joy every day. She died suddenly on Jan. 22, 2008. Her father, James "Jim" Jones preceded her in death. Her husband and best friend, Richard; her mother Liz (nee McManamon); her twin sister Liz (Jim) Gondela; her brother Jim (Ellen) Jones; and her nieces and nephews Natalie and Grace Gondela and Caitlyn and Michael Jones survive her. In lieu of flowers, contributions to PAWS Chicago, 1997 N. Clybourn Ave., Chicago, 60614 are appreciated.

BETTY J. ORTAGGIO
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Betty J. Ortaggio, 79, of Des Plaines and formerly of Park Ridge, was held Jan. 29 in Messiah Lutheran Church, Park Ridge. Burial was private. Arrangements were by Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines. A native of Chicago and a 25-year employee of Associated Release Service in Chicago, she died Jan. 25 in Lutheran General Hospital. Surviving are children Joanie (Michael) Scheck, and Janet; grandchildren Katie and Chrissy Scheck; sister-in-law Joan Ostrand; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; and siblings Lois Gunderlach, Bill Ostrand, and Joyce MacInnes. Memorials are requested to the Rainbow Hospice, 444 N. Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, IL 60068.

JOSEPHINE SANNASARDO

A funeral service for Josephine Sannasardo, 99, of Des Plaines, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at St. Mary Church. Visitation will be today (Friday) from 2 to 9 p.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Interment will be at St. Joseph cemetery. Ms. Sannasardo was born on May 20, 1908 in Chicago. She was a homemaker for her family. She died on Monday, January 28, 2008 at Nazarethville of Des Plaines. She is preceded in death by husband Peter and parents Joseph and Rosario Genovese. Ms. Sannasardo is survived by daughters Rosaria (Ross) Anthos and Sister Margaret B.V.M., sons Paul (Grace Paldo) and Joseph (Angela), grandchildren JoAnn (David) Lllek, Peter, Joseph (Nancy), Jill (Robert) Somoski, Christina (Todd) Hatley, Ross and Peter and many nieces and nephews. LUDMILLA SARIBEKIAN

A funeral service for Ludmilla Saribekian, 78, took place Friday, Jan. 25, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Mrs. Saribekian died on Monday, Jan. 21, at Resurrection Medical Center. She was born on Feb. 2, 1929, in Czechoslovakia.

NANETTE C. SCHOPEN
Formerly of Mt. Prospect

A memorial Mass for Nanette C. Schopen, 67, of Fairfield, Ohio, will take place on Friday, Feb. 1, at Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Arlington Heights. Memorial visitation was Thursday, Jan. 31 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mrs. Schopen was born on June 6, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wisc. She worked at Carson Pirie Scott & Co. in Randhurst Mall for many years. She died on Jan. 25, 2008 at Drake Center in Cincinnati. Her husband Ronald, her children Laura and Chuck (Theresa) Schopen, her grandchild Nichole, and her siblings Chuck (Jody) Schopen and Betsy Mercein survive her.

HANNA SCHULTZ
of Palatine

A memorial service for Hanna I. Schultz of Palatine, 99, will be announced in the spring. She passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Tamarack Retirement Home in Palatine. She is survived by her husband, Eugene V.; daughter, Barbara (James) McLennan; grandchildren, Tami (Bill) Ostlund, Todd (Gina) McLennan, Rev. Tassie (Rev. Ken) Green, Troy (Karl) McLennan; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Schultz was preceded in death by her son, Richard (Sandra). Interment was private. Memorials may be made to Rainbow Hospice.

A funeral service for John Susnjara, 82, took place Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. John Brebeuf Church in Niles. Mr. Susnjara died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at home. He was born on Sept. 28, 1925, in Chicago. He was an Army veteran and member of the North American Martyrs Knights of Columbus.

A funeral service for Kenneth Michael "Mike" Vigil, 50, took place Monday, Jan. 28, at Cooney Funeral Home. Mr. Vigil died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, of cancer.

JOSEPH E. WEIDNER

A funeral service for Joseph E. Weidner, 85, of Wheeling, was held on Monday, Jan. 21, at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home in Niles. Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home and Interment was at Memorial Park cemetery. Mr. Weidner was born on Nov. 30, 1922 in Chicago. He was a veteran and self-employed in the tool and die industry. He passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview. Mr. Weidner is preceded in death by son David and brothers William and Clarence. He is survived by his wife Susan Moenning, son Craig, grandchildren Joey, Danielle (Joe), Craig, Chad, Jun and Vanessa, sister Marge Barkey and many nieces and nephews.

GEORGEANNE WOJTALEWICZ

A funeral service for Georgeanne Wojtalewicz, 66, of Northbrook, was held on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Our Lady of the Brook. Visitation was held on Jan. 11 at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home in Niles. Interment was at All Saints cemetery. Mrs. Wojtalewicz was born on April, 16, 1941 in Chicago. She passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007 in Northbrook. She was the niece of Frank (late Bernadine) Wojtalewicz and Ted (Helen) Szywala and cousin of many. Memorial contributions to the Beverly Farm Foundation, 6301 Humbert Road, Godfrey, IL 62035.

RONALD ACKERLUND

A funeral service for Ronald J. Ackerlund of Park Ridge, 75, was held Friday, Feb. 8, at Nelson Funeral Home. Visitation was held the same day prior to the service at the same location. Interment was a private cremation. He passed away Sunday, Feb. 3. He was a retired agent for State Farm Insurance Co. He is survived by his wife, Helga; children, Ron, Henry (Sonja) Pulver and James (Debra) Pulver; eight grandchildren; sister, Shirley Dean.

STEFAN V. BALOGH

A funeral service was held at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows for Stefan V. Balogh, 75, of Palatine. Interment was in Memory Gardens cemetery, Arlington Heights. Balogh was born on Feb. 10, 1932 in Ruma, Yugoslavia and died on Thursday, Jan. 31 at Manor Care in Arlington Heights. Balogh served as an Arlington Heights firefighter with over 19 years of service, retiring in 1983 at the rank of lieutenant. He is survived by his wife Shirley (nee Peters); children, Steven (Janet), Cindi (Tim) Maher, Wayne (Sharon), Scott (Judy) and Sandra (Mike) Sesterhenn; grandchildren, Lindsay, Stephen, Lauren, Dana, Ashley, Robert, Christopher Karley and Emily Balogh; Stephanie, Caitlin and Matthew Maher; Ian, Kelly and Michael Lynch; Johnny and Melanie Sesterhenn and brother Franz (Mary Jean). He was preceded in death by his parents Franz and Katarina (nee Mukahirn) Balogh. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, 308 N. Evergreen St., Arlington Heights.
