World War II veteran of Des Plaines
A funeral service for Donald H. Franzen, 80, of Des Plaines, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, at Our Lady of Hope Church in Rosemont. Visitation will take place on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Oehler Funeral Home. Interment will be at All Saints cemetery. Mr. Franzen was born on May 31, 1927 in Chicago. He was a veteran of the Navy during World War II and a resident of Des Plaines since 1957. He worked for Des Plaines Glass Co. for over 20 years and was a member of the Glazier Union Local 27 for over 40 years. He passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Lutheran General Hospital. Mr. Franzen is preceded in death by his wife, Marie R. He is survived by sons James D. and Lawrence J., daughters Diane M. (Donald W.) Storm, Kathleen Jo, Lynn Marie and Mary, his ten grandchildren and loving companion Joan Spriet.
DORIS G. GIOVANNINI
of Park Ridge
A funeral mass for Doris G. Giovannini (nee LaBonar) a long-time Park Ridge resident, will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) in St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment will be in All Saints cemetery. Arrangements are by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home. The former president of DePaul University's Women's Board and a supporter of many charities, she died Jan. 25 in Evanston Hospital. Surviving are her husband, Dino J.; children Joe (Peggy), Rick (Anna), and Jim (Roxann); grandchildren Matt, Mike, Shannon, Melanie, Danny, David, Melissa, and Nicholas; siblings Joseph LaBonar, Leonard (Donna) LaBonar, Greta (Gerald) Muscarello; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert LaBonar.
EUGENE J. GODZICKI
Army veteran of Mt. Prospect
Eugene J. Godzicki, formerly of Arlington Hts., was born Nov. 13, 1927 in Chicago to Joseph and Cecelia (nee Cordak) Godzicki. He died Monday, Jan. 28 at Lutheran Home and Services. Mr. Godzicki was an industrial engineer employed by Parker-Hannifin in Des Plaines for 31 years before he retired in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marguerite R. (nee Baxter), whom he married
Sept. 6, 1952; his daughters Laura Bartos of Aurora, Janet (Joseph) Kuszynski of Lake Zurich, Jean (Phillip) Lorenz of Hawthorn Woods, Karen (Jerry) Bickner of Hawthorn Woods, Margie (Michael) Zwierzynski of Crystal Lake; his 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Raymond, his parents and a sister. Visitation was Friday, Feb. 1 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Hts., Rd. World War II veteran of Elk Grove Village
A funeral mass for William H. Hlavin, 87, of Elk Grove Village, was held on Monday, Feb. 4, at St. Julian Eymard Church. Visitation was held on Sunday, Feb. 3, at Grove Memorial Chapel. Interment was at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Hillside. Mr. Hlavin was born in Chicago. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy and a retired employee of the electromotive division of G.M. Electric, where he worked for 38 years. He passed away on Jan. 31, 2008 at Manor Car Nursing Center in Rolling Meadows. He is preceded in death by son Robert P. A funeral Mass for Hugo O. Mosquera, 78, took place on Friday, Feb. 1 at St. Julian Eyward Church. Interment was private at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery in Palatine. Mr. Mosquera was born in Quito, Ecuador. He was an electrical and mechanical engineer and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was also a member of the Barnstormers Radio Control Club and a tennis player. He died at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village on Jan. 27, 2008. His wife of 51 years, Charlene A. A private memorial service for Elaine Inga Pastnack (nee Clark), 85, a former 30-year resident of Des Plaines, was held Feb. 5 at The Moorings, where she lived for 11 years. A native of Oshkosh, WI and a World War II Navy veteran, she died Feb. 1 at The Moorings Healthcare Center, Arlington Hts. She served as a nurse at Great Lakes and several other Chicagoland military hospitals. Widow of the late Dr. George Pastnack, she is survived by nieces and nephews Alan B. Clark, Linda Clark, Terry Clark and Constance Pettenger.

WWII veteran of Elk Grove Village
A funeral Mass for Max A. Wilson, 87, of Elk Grove Village took place Thursday, Jan. 31 at Queen of the Rosary Church. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery. Mr. Wilson served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He later worked for International Harvester and was a member of the United Auto Workers. He died at home on Jan. 28, 2008. His brother Ned preceded him in death. His wife of 60 years, Lucille; his children Nancy (Jim) Tessar and Dianna Wilson; his siblings Don (Helen) Wilson, Billy Wilson, Edith Dawson, Sarah Goeforth, and Judy Rice; his grandchildren Nicky Taylor, Abigail Phillips, Amos, Daniel, Peter, and Andrew Tessar; and his 13 great-grandchildren survive him.
