He passed away Tuesday, June 17. He is survived by his wife, Corey; children, Alison and Morgan; parents, Michael (Jennifer) and Anne; sisters, Andrea and Molly; and godparents, Steve O'Connor and Barbara Feltes. A memorial service for Anita P. Hoban (nee Schamne), 64, took place on Sunday, June 22 at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Interment was private. Memorial visitation preceded the service. Mrs. Hoban was born on Mar. 26, 1944 in Chicago. She was the office manager for Drs. Turek and Bagdade, DDS, in Arlington Heights for more than 20 years. She died on June 18, 2008 at Manor Care Health Center in Arlington Heights. Her children Patricia R. (Rick) Gerardi and Elisabeth M. "Lisa" Hoban-DiVito; her grandchild Eugene J. Hoban; her siblings Gloria T. (Edward) Meyer and Bernadette M. (Mark) Smart; her nieces Laura D. (David MD) Johnson, Linda L. (Roger) Lockwood, and Leah R. Ciffone; and her godson James E. Smart survive her. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
Malcom F. James
Army Veteran of Arlington Heights
A committal service for Malcom F. James Jr., of Arlington Heights, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at St. Mary cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Mr. James was born on Apr. 17, 1934 in Chicago. He was a first lieutenant in the Army and later served in the Army Reserve as a captain. He worked as a vice president at the Mt. Prospect State Bank and later as a consultant with Presbyterian Homes, converting accounting systems from punch card to fully computerized systems. He passed away on June 15, 2008 in Arlington Heights. Mr. James is survived by wife Donna and sister Marcia Wilhelm. He was preceded in death by parents Malcolm F. St. and Gladys. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the new chapel fund at the Moorings, 811 E. Central, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 or a charity of choice.

A funeral service for Gene Landes of Des Plaines, 84, was held Wednesday, June 25, at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Interment was held at All Saints cemetery. He was born in November 1923. He passed away on Saturday, June 21. He was a member of the Fox Valley Model Railroad Club, and enjoyed skating, dancing and concerts with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Gina (nee Raddatz) and sister, Maxine Landes.

A funeral service for Harriet A. Paul of Niles, 97, was held yesterday (Tuesday) at St. Andrew Life Center. Interment was held at St. Adalbert cemetery. She was born on Feb. 6, 1911 in Chicago. She died Friday, June 20 at St. Andrew Home. She worked as a clerk for an accounting firm. She is survived by her nephew, Richard Izmer and numerous other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Paul was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and parents, Vincent and Antoinette (nee Reimel) Linklewicz.
Edward A. Reiten
Korean War Veteran
A funeral service for Edward A. Reiten, 76, took place Wednesday, June 18 at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mr. Reiten was the plant superintendent of Hygrade Food Products for 35 years. He served in the Korean War from 1949 to 1953, was commander of the VFW Post 3579 in Park Ridge from 2000 to 2001, and was most recently chairman of the board. He was an avid fisherman and once won the coveted "master angler" award for a monstrous trout he caught in Canadian waters. As a dad, he was unforgettable in every way. He was a fun grandpa who was much loved by his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed. He died when where on June 15, 2008. His parents John and Rena Reiten and his siblings Ethel Lambeth and Marion Janofsky preceded him in death. His wife Kathryn (nee Ponczek), his daughter Keri (John) Bowman, and his grandchildren Max and Paige Bowman survive him.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1921 in Chicago. He passed away Saturday, June 14. He is survived by his wife, Norma B. (nee Hansen); children, Nancy L. (Lee) Fioretto, Sandy L. (Don) Enright, Frank G. (Theresa), Kathy (Owen) Kaveney, and Daniel J. (Penny) Ross; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A funeral service for Richard "Russ" Schwades, 77, formerly of Mt. Prospect, was held Monday, June 23, in Greeneville, Tennessee. Visitation was held on Sunday, June 22, and interment was at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens in Blountville. Mr. Schwades was born Jan. 8, 1931 in Chicago. He was a first class petty officer in the U.S. Navy, owned a data processing service in Niles for over 18 years and retired from the U.S. government in Washington, D.C., in 1994. He was a resident of Mt. Prospect for 30 years where he was also a lifelong bowler. He passed away on June 20, 2008 at his home. Mr. Schwades is preceded in death by wife Charlotte Anne, parents Arthur and Marie Spelver, sister Ruby Morton, brother Arthur Schwades Jr. and two nephews. He is survived by wife Wilma, daughter, step-daughter, step-son, grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Keith M. "Smitty" Smith of Rolling Meadows, 74, was held yesterday (Tuesday) at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. He was born on Mar. 8, 1934 in Greenville, Ohio. He died Saturday, June 21 at Manor of Rolling Meadows. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He had also worked for the City of Rolling Meadows as a sanitation engineer for 28 years. He is survived by his wife, Judith (nee Fotter); children, Brian, David, and Tracey (Sonny) Wicks; grandchildren, Rick and Kristine Gradman, and Austin and Samantha Wicks; brothers, Robert (Leah) and Gerald (Janice); and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his sisters, Marge, Bernice and Nina.

A funeral service and interment for Chris Steven Strozewski, 51, of Rolling Meadows, was held privately last week. Mr. Strozewski was born Dec. 12, 1956 in Chicago. He worked as a tree trimmer for many years. He passed away on June 16, 2008 at Northern Illinois Medical Center. Mr. Strozewski is survived by parents Norbert (Mae) and Florence, siblings Paul (Debbie), Leslie (Harold) Paulson and Gary and nieces and nephews Katie and Alyssa Paulson and Lauren and Lee Strozewski.

A funeral service for Robert S. Tomaso, 72, of Elk Grove Village, was held Saturday, June 21 at Queen of the Rosary Church. Mr. Tomaso was born in Chicago. He worked for 32 years as an adult probation officer with Cook County. He was an avid gardener and resident of Elk Grove for 30 years. He passed away on June 16, 2008. Mr. Tomaso is survived by wife Maribeth, son Michael (Izabela), daughter Margaret "Peggy" and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral mass for Irene Zyks, 92, of Chicago, was celebrated June 16 in St. Wenceslaus Church, Niles. Burial followed in St. Adalbert cemetery. She died June 14 in the Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center. She worked as a seamstress. Surviving are daughters Lois of Chicago and Joan (Chuck) Daniel; grandchildren Peter, Patrick (Cara) Daniel, Julia (Ronald) Rinock; and Jacalyn (Allen) Burke; great-grand children Robert George, Michelle Burke; and Olivia Rinock; siblings Sophie (the late Vincent) Cascio, and Ted (Estelle); and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Her husband, Aloysius Zyks, and siblings Edward (Harriett) Nawrocki and Stephanie (Steve) Czarnik, preceded her in death.
John C. Behrens

A memorial service for John C. Behrens, 71, of Long Grove, took place on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Shorewood Bible Church in Rolling Meadows. Interment will be private. Memorial visitation preceded the service beginning at 4 p.m. Mr. Behrens was born on Mar. 18, 1936 in Chicago. He was a carpenter and contractor for 42 years and worked until the very end. John served as a director of Pal in the Awana clubs for 17 years, reaching young people with the message that Christ died for our sins: believe it and be saved. John's wish for all those he knew and loved, first and foremost, is that they trusted exclusively in Christ's substitutionary death on the cross where he shed his blood for the payment of all our sins so that we can receive eternal life as a free gift. Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and not of yourselves; it is a gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast." He died on Sept. 20, 2008 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights after a 4-1/2 year battle with colon cancer. His parents Christopher and Elsie Behrens and his sisters Crystal, Harriet, and Geneva preceded him in death. His wife of 52 years, Audrey; his daughters Kathy (Jeff) Wouters and Beth (Paul) Kott; and his grandchildren Ashley and Bradley Wouters, and Camille and Julia Kott survive him.

A funeral service for Joyce C. Bremer, 73, of Rolling Meadows, was held Saturday, Sept. 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation took place Friday, Sept. 19, at Meadows Funeral Home. Interment was at St. John Lutheran cemetery in Mt. Prospect. Ms. Bremer was born March 27, 1935 in Elk Grove Township. She worked at the Crawford Dept. Store and the Rolling Meadows Park Dist. C.A.R.E. Program for many years. She was also a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rolling Meadows. She passed away on Sept. 15, 2008 at Manor Care of Rolling Meadows. Ms. Bremer is survived by husband Jim, children Jill (Gary) Powell and Jay (Sharon), grandchildren Justin and Ashley Bremer and Philip and Lisa Powell, brother Donald (late Marliss) and sister Janet (late Jim) Walter. She is preceded in death by parents Walter and Clara and sister Violet (late Eddie) Kubiak. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Rosemont resident John F. Cochrane, 61, a former long-time employee of the Journal & Topics Newspapers, died on Saturday, Sept. 20 at his home. Born July 12, 1947 in Chicago, Mr. Cochrane was the father of Colleen (Paul) Kampschroer, John (Jolene), and Heather Cochrane; grandfather of Randall Laveau, Collin and Douglas Kampschroer, and Evan and Andrew Cochrane. He was also the former husband of Kathleen Cochrane. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows from 3 to 5 p.m.
Catherine Denzinger

A memorial Mass for Catherine Denzinger (nee Bensko), 77, took place on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at St. Raymond de Penafort Church in Mt. Prospect. Mrs. Denzinger was born on Aug. 5, 1931 in Wolf Run, Ohio. She was a retired member of the Mt. Prospect Park Dist. board, a Republican precinct captain, an avid golfer and traveler, and a great cook. Her last career was in real estate with Starck Realty in Mt. Prospect. She died on Sept. 17, 2008 at Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center in Skokie. Her husband Norman Denzinger; her children Constance (Jim) Markham and Dwayne (Merci Krause) Denzinger; her grandchildren Lance Cpl. James Markham USMC, Alyssa Markham, Cara Denzinger, and Adam Denzinger; and her seven siblings survive her. A funeral service for Edward Dobrowski, 79, of Des Plaines, was held Monday, Sept. 22, at St. Zachary Church. Visitation took place prior to the service. Mr. Dobrowski was a Korean War veteran. He retired after 37 years working at Nicor and was a longtime member of the American Legion. He passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008. He is survived by wife Elaine, sons Bruce (Fran) and Mark (Theresa), granddaughter Jessica, sister Barbara Hawkinson, brother Donald (Fern)and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sister Rita Zgobis. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church appreciated.

Waukesha Chapter, former president of the Mt. Prospect Women's Club, and former Campfire Girls and Cub Scout leader in Mt. Prospect. She died on Sept. 21, 2008 at Lexington Health Care Center in Lake Zurich Her husband, former Mt. Prospect Police Chief Newell T. and her siblings Glen Howerter, Thelma Bruning, and Maxine Arnett preceded her in death.
