Funeral services were held for Marie "Dearie" Kandlbinder of Chicago at St. Thecla Church on Devon Avenue in Chicago on Thursday, Sept. 18 and at the Skaja Funeral Home in Niles on Friday, Sept. 19. Kandlbinder was born in Chicago on Sept. 7, 1909 and died at Rush North Shore Hospital in Chicago on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008. Kandlbinder is survived by her daughter Carlene (Lohtar) Schick, grandchildren Steven (Catherine) and Deborah Schick, sister Alice (late Cass) Ott and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Maria (nee Weinger) Schenkl, husband Carl Kandlbinder, and siblings; Frank (May), Louis (Alvina) and Joseph (Besse) Schenkl and Loretta (Mathias) Pimperi.

Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Ms. Littwin was born July 17, 1922 in Chicago. She was a substitute teacher for many Catholic elementary schools in the area. She passed away on Sept. 14, 2008 at Addolorata Villa in Wheeling. Ms. Littwin is preceded in death by husband John, brother Robert (Mary) McMahon and sister-in-law Dorothea McMahon. A funeral service for Robert Anthony Pfaendner of Niles, 79, was held yesterday (Tuesday) at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. He was born on June 15, 1929 in Chicago. He died Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Lutheran General Hospital. He worked as an offset engraver for a printing company and was an army veteran. He was also a member of the Edison Park Lutheran Church and the Park Ridge Senior Center. He is survived by his children, Bruce (Barbara) Wood and Nancy (Gregory) Stoker; grandchildren, Christina Wood, Cameron (Mindy) Starc, Kyle Strmic; nieces, Marlene Casey and Marilyn Bernhard; great nieces and nephews, Kimberly Bernhard, Jennifer (David) Rossman, and Patrick Casey; and sister, Louise (Henry) Passal. Mr. Pfaendner was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores (nee Peterson); and parents, Mae and Anthony. Interment was held at Maryhill cemetery. Ms. Rowbottom was born July 6, 1926 in Chicago. She worked as a bookkeeper at Crawford Dept. Store for 33 years. She was a lecture, Eucharistic minister and lay minister at St. Colette Church for many years. She passed away on Sept. 17, 2008 at Northwest Community Hospital. Ms. Rowbottom is preceded in death by husband Harold, son Michael (Mary Jo) and brother Donald Aylward. A funeral Mass for Shirley M. Szukalla (nee Hilgenberg), 73 took place Monday, Sept. 22, at St. Raymond Church in Mt. Prospect. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 21, at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Mrs. Szukalla was born on Aug. 7, 1935 in Chicago. She was selflessly devoted to her family. She was both a housewife and ran the office of the family business, Mt. Prospect Heating. She died at home on Sept. 18, 2008. Her grandson Joey and her parents Molly (nee Borgardt) and Henry Hilgenberg preceded her in death. Her husband R. James Szukalla; her children Michael J. He was an Air Force veteran, member of the Showmen's League of America and resident of Des Plaines since 1950. He passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Mr. Braun is survived by wife Eleanor C., children Bernard P., Richard A. (Linda R.), Dr. James R. (Carol A.), Rosemary D. (Carl "Butch") Schnulle, Gary P. (Valerie K.) and Robert T. (Julie), his 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister Catherine (late Steven) Seplak and sister-in-law Rose Mary (Dennis) Gabel. He is preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. He loved gardening, enjoyed his German classes, and worked for Little Villa Restaurant part-time for 23 years. He died on Oct. 21, 2008 in Park Ridge. A native of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, she died Oct. 24 in Lee Manor Nursing Home. She worked as an inspector for Teletype Corp. and was a member of the 55+ Club and the Golden Age Club at St. John Brebeuf Church. Surviving are her daughter, Katherine (the late Jerome) Rajski of Mt. Prospect; grandchildren Frank Rajski, Katherine (Richard) Spiess, Anthony P. Spiess, and Debra (John) Rubel; and great-grandchildren Evan, Connor, and Noelle Spiess. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gloriana, and a son, Anthony (Rosemary) Gloriana. "Jo" or "Little Jo" was an active member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church and the Elk Grove Senior Club, enjoying many long-lasting friendships and many years of activities. Before her eyesight failed, she enjoyed Bingo, Pinochle, knitting, and sewing crafts for family, friends, and fund-raisers. She died on Oct. 21, 2008 at Friendship Village in Schaumburg. Her parents Emanual and Barbara (nee Chmelir Zaloudek); her brothers Emanuel (Evelyn) Roger (Alma), Frank (Josephine), and George (Shirley) Zaloudek; her sisters Amelia Zaloudek, Mary (Douglas) Hoover, Stephanie (Cliff) Larson; and her grandson Robert W. Kirkpatrick preceded her in death. Mr. Maslankowski was born on Oct. 9, 1941 in Chicago. He worked at Eastern Airlines and became an aviation mechanic at Ozark, TWA, United, Atlantic Coast, Air Wisconsin, and Sky West airlines. He received the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award recognizing 50 years of accomplishment in aviation maintenance. He died on Oct. 11, 2008 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Visitation took place at Skaja Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 24. Moryl was born in Poland in 1959 and died at Lutheran General Hospital on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008. She was 49 years old. A funeral service for Robert Rountree Reinhart Sr., 84, of College Station, Texas, formerly of Des Plaines, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Hillier Funeral Home in College Station. Mr. Reinhart was born on July 30, 1924 in Chicago. He worked at Quaker Oats Company from 1942 until his retirement in 1983. He was at the research and development facility in Barrington after its opening in 1956. He was awarded about two dozen patents including one for directing the team responsible for the development of Cap'n Crunch cereal. He also received the Fredus N. Peters Award from Quaker Oats in 1965 for that achievement. He was a longtime resident of Des Plaines and a member of the First Congregational Church. He died on Oct. 26, 2008. His wife Ruth (nee Duncan) preceded him in death. His sisters Lorraine Schmitz and Marion Meyer; his children Robert Rountree (Beth) Reinhart Jr., Gregory Duncan (Ruth) Reinhart, and Virginia Ruth "Ginger" (Tom) Umstattd; and his grandchildren Andrea Reinhart Marston, Jessica Reinhart Lind, Rebecca Reinhart, Katherine Reinhart, Timothy Reinhart, Thomas Umstattd, Cynthia Umstattd, David Umstattd, William Umstattd, and John Umstattd survive him.
