She was a 1981 graduate of Hersey High School. She died Monday, July 16. She is survived by her parents, Terry and Nancy Frakes, her sister Jody (Ronald) Thelin, and her nephew Ted Thelin. LT. COL. (RET) HERMAN GUSTAV GLITZ
Of Des Plaines
Lt. Col. (Ret) Herman Gustav Glitz departed this life on July 16, 2007, two weeks after his 95th birthday. A memorial service was held at the First United Methodist Church in Des Plaines on Friday, July 20, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the church's pipe organ renewal fund. Born in Chicago on July 2, 1912, Herman worked for Chicago Title and Trust Co. and attended college at night prior to World War II. Entering the Army in early 1942, he was quickly promoted to sergeant and selected for Officer Candidate School. Herman served in England, France, and Germany during and after the war. While at headquarters in Paris, Herman met Sergeant Elizabeth Gilliland of Waterville, Ny., and dedicated the next 60 years to her.
True members of the Greatest Generation, Betty and Herman were married
on Aug. 25, 1946. They settled in Des Plaines, raised three sons and were proud to see all three graduate from the U.S. Air Force Academy and serve their country as their parents had. Herman resumed his career in management at Chicago Title and continued to serve in the Army Reserve, retiring in 1972 as a Lieutenant Colonel with 28 years combined active and reserve service. Herman will be remembered for his quick wit, dedication to family, and unique ability to get the most possible mileage from a single joke. He volunteered for charitable organizations, served his sons' Boy Scout troop for many years, and was president of the Air Force Academy Parents' Club. Herman is preceded in death by his wife Betty, brothers Arthur and Herbert, and sisters Clara and Helen. He is survived by sons Norman, Robert, and Richard, their wives, and Herman's six granddaughters.

A funeral service for Ruth L. Haut (nee Muller), 87, a 51-year resident of Mt. Prospect, was held July 21 in St. Mark Lutheran Church. Burial followed in Memory Gardens cemetery. Arrangements were by Friedrichs Funeral Home. A native of Chicago and a retired baker at Prospect and Rolling Meadows high schools, she died July 13 in her home. She was past president of the village's Senior Advisory Council, Elder Honor Award Winner, recipient of the Village of Mt. Prospect Shining Star award in 2004, and also an Unsung Hero Award winner. Widow of the late Richard C. Haut, she is survived by children Roberta Sue (Terry) Hart, and Richard C. (Annette); grandchildren Teresa Hart, Richard (Angie) Hart, Naomi (Sage) Haught, Noah (Beth), and Ruthanne Haut; great-grandchildren Brannon, Logan, Jonathan, Richard, Berkeley, Issac, Lauralyn, and Kristin; and a brother, Leon Haut, of Chicago.

A funeral service for William Henry Hein, 59, took place Friday, July 20, at the Grove Memorial Chapel. Mr. Hein was born on March 17, 1948. He died at his home on Monday, July 16.

A funeral service for Joyce Hollinger of Inverness, 81, was held at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Interment at Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Hts. Ms. Hollinger was born Jan. 19, 1926 in Chicago. She had worked for Dist. 214 as an educational support staff member at Rolling Meadows High School and Forest View for many years. She passed away on Sunday, July 15 at Friendship Village in Schaumburg. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Roy. She is survived by her dear children Gail (John) Hillary and Randy Hollinger, and her grandchildren Allison, Christopher, and Hillary.

She is survived by her son Lawrence J. (Lucretia), grandson Lawrence A. (Tara) and great-grandson Anthony. in 1940 and moved to Mt. Prospect in 1954. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and participated in the Sarah Circle. She enjoyed her family, sewing and needle work. She passed away on July 14, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack D. Ms. Morgan is survived by her children Carol (Patrick Hearden) Morgan, Dale (Gwen) Morgan and Chris (Amy) Morgan, grandchildren Daniel, Pamela, Beth, Kyle, Sarah, Kathryn, Margaret and Grace and sister Berneta (Bernard) Paul.

Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mrs. O'Brien was born on Apr. 6, 1929 in Oak Park. She died Saturday, July 21 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. She was the owner of Marilyn's Flowers in Des Plaines. She was a member of United Way, the Des Plaines Historical Society, Chamber of Commerce, Consumer Commission, and the local school district. She is survived by her children, Ellen A. Panegasser, Kevin P., Martin J. (Julie), Margaret M. (Steven) Losey, Timothy J. (Lora), Steven T., and Ann M. (Brian) Bending; grandchildren, Rob, James, Mark and Katie Panegasser, Sean, Will, Maggie and Jaime Losey, Dempsey and Nicole Bending; grandchildren, Austin, Jenessa, Gabriella, Michael Rocco and Lily; and brother Douglas M.
