A funeral service for Ralph N. Cote of Des Plaines, 83, will be held Saturday, June 30, 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Plaines. Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 3 to 8 p.m. at Oehler Funeral Home Des Plaines Chapel in Des Plaines. Mr. Cote was born on June 20, 1924 in Chicago. He died Monday, June 25 at Vita Hospice at Manor Care in Winter Park, Fla. He was a WWII Navy CB, a member of American Legion Post 740 in Norwood Park, a member of Des Plaines V.F.W., life member of Des Plaines Elks 1546, and a member of the Des Plaines Optimist Club. He was also a member of The International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians for over 60 years. He is survived by his children, Janet (Michael) LaFate and son, Paul N. (Pamela); grandchildren, Kristine (Christopher) Erickson and Mary Ruth Cote; and sister, Delores Owens. Mr. Cote is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (nee Danielson). Interment will be held at Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church are appreciated.

A funeral service for Harold G. Fiebig of Poplar Grove and formerly of Rolling Meadows, 85, was held Wednesday, June 27, at St. Colette Church. Visitation was held the day before at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Interment was held at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Mr. Fiebig was born on Nov. 1, 1921 in downstate Bloomington. He died Saturday, June 23 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in South Beloit, Ill. He worked for Proctor and Gamble in shipping and receiving for over 36 years. He was also a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy. He is survived by his children, Susan, (the later Gregg) Sitta, Janet (Dan) Hamrin, Linda (Bob) Comstock, Peggy Cubberley, Betty Jean (Michael) Kendziora, Mary Patricia (Theodore) Costa, Joseph (Cathy), James (Nancy) and John; 36 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Laurel); and aunt, Pearl Nield. Mr. Krainik was preceded in death by his wife, Margie and brother, Guy.

A funeral service and visitation for MaryAnn Johnson, nee Pelka, of Des Plaines, formerly of Elk Grove Village, 69, will take place today at Grove Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., with memorial service at 8 p.m. Ms. Johnson was born in Chicago. She passed away Tuesday, June 26 in Des Plaines. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Johnsen, her dear parents, Joseph and Agnes Pelka, and her fond brother Edward Pelka. She is survived by her beloved children, Michael J. Johnsen, Gregory A. (Dawn) Johnsen, Sandra L. A graveside service and interment for Harry G. Koziol, 91, formerly of Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) at St. Adalbert cemetery. Mr. Koziol was born on January, 28, 1916 in Chicago. He worked as an engineer in the electronics field for many years. He died on June 17, 2007 at Rosewood of Inverness. He is preceded in death by his wife Lillian. Mr. Koziol is survived by his son Thaddeus (Linda), grandchildren Quincey (Jonna) Koziol and Amy (Isaac) Chagoya and great-grandchildren Audrey, Duncan, Olivia and Owen Koziol, Isaac and Sander Chagoya. A funeral service for Christopher J. McNamara of Rolling Meadows, 56, was held Monday, June 25, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. McNamara was born on Mar. 20, 1951 in Chicago. He died Friday, June 22 at his home. He was an engineer for the Henkel Company, a plastics company for over 23 years. He is survived by his parents, David J. and Margaret; siblings, Mary (Joel Griffith) McNamara, David (Mary Beth), Catherine (Mark) Hansen, and Matthew (Debbie); and nieces, Kelly and Katy.

Marjorie Michaelson-Smith, age 89, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, died Monday, June 18, at Windsor's Johnson Healthcare Center. She was born February 27, 1918 in Chicago. Marjorie graduated from Wheaton College (IL) in 1939. She was a member of South Park Church in Park Ridge, IL, where she was involved in many church activities. She was an accomplished musician, an avid reader, and a member of PEO. She enjoyed life as a homemaker and greatly loved her family. She is survived by her husband, Robert Smith; her two sons, Ronald (Jan) Michaelson of Springfield, IL, and Rev. Wesley (Rev. Karin) Granberg-Michaelson of Grand Rapids, MI; her daughter, Marcia (Ralph) Berke of Park Ridge, IL; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her brother, Carl Gundersen, Jr.; and two sisters, Gloria Buscarello, and Valerie Heidlauf.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Michaelson; her parents, Carl and Valborg Gundersen; and two brothers, Kenneth and Melvin. A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 23, at 1:30 P.M. at Windsor Park Manor, Windsor Park Dr. at North Ave., (just west of Gary Ave.) in Carol Stream, with the Revs. Wesley and Karin Granberg-Michaelson officiating. Mr. Ryan was born Sept. 5, 1934. He was a Korean War Veteran and a member of the CDR USNR (Ret.) Submarine Service. He played for the Shannon Rovers Bagpipe Band in Chicago and was member of IBEW Local 134 for over 40 years. He was also parishioner of St. Paul of the Cross Church. He passed away Wednesday, June 20. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. and Julia (Judge) Ryan. He is survived by his beloved wife Anne C. A funeral service for Walter F. Trachsel, 70, of Mt. Prospect, was held on Wednesday, June 27 at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Visitation took place on Tuesday, June 16 at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Interment was at Windridge cemetery. Mr. Trachsel was born on Jan. 24, 1937 in Janesville, Wis. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was retired from Parsons Brinckerhoff and a member of the American Society of Professional Engineers and the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. He was very active in the youth sports programs at St. Mark Lutheran Church and his hobbies included bowling, golf, fishing and playing bridge. He was also an Eagle Scout. He passed away on June 23, 2007. He is preceded in death by his brother Richard. Mr. Trachsel is survived by his wife Sandie, children Walter Gordon (Joy), Steven Richard (Karen), Michael John (Michelle) and Susan Elizabeth Trachsel, grandchildren Ashley, Allison, Austin, Alex, Tyler, Ryan, Mallory, Michael Jr., and Mario and sister Ellen Peterson. Former DP Alderman Leer Dies
A memorial service for former Des Plaines alderman John Leer will be held on Friday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Des Plaines. Mr. Leer lived in Des Plaines for many years before moving to Eden Prairie, Minn. two years ago. He attended the University of Minnesota and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. As a Des Plaines alderman, he represented the 3d ward for 12 years. In 2001 he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for humanitarian service by Lions Club International. Leer also served for many years as a Sunday School teacher, usher and trustee at First Congregational Church. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son John III (Sarah); daughters Cathy (John), Jody (Dave), and Missy (Charlie); eight grandchildren, two great-grandsons; and a sister.
