A funeral service for Mary J. Daly, 63, of Rolling Meadows, will be held Thursday, Apr. 19 at 11 a.m. at Meadows Funeral Home. Visitation will take place today (Wednesday) from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside. Ms. Daly was born on Sept. 25, 1943 in Chicago. She worked in the customer service department of a local newspaper for over 30 years. She died on Apr. 14, 2007 at Manor Care in Arlington Heights. She is preceded in death by her brother Robert Gatto. Ms. Daly is survived by her husband Jack C., children William (Kelly) Jones, Robert Jones, Colleen Jones, Deborah (Richard) Formeller and Carol (Bruce) Hamilton, grandchildren Amber and Ashley Jones, Jessica Daly, Melissa Stevens, Vanessa and Amanda Daly, Allison, Joseph and Rebecca Formeller, great-grandchildren Kyle and Zachary Richards, sister Helen (Tony) Maruszak and one niece and two nephews. Funeral services for long-time Elk Grove Village resident Lucille Ellis (nee Lotta) will be held Thursday, Apr. 19 at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove. Visitation was held yesterday (Wednesday) at Grove Memorial Chapel. She was 77. Ellis died Saturday, Apr. 7 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. She was born in Nebraska and worked as a secretary for Manpower. Ellis was also a member of the Sheila Ray Senior Center of Elk Grove Village where she was an active volunteer. She also enjoyed crocheting and many other crafts. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William P. Ellis; children Paul Ellis and Pamela Maggio; sister Lillian Gazda; grandchildren Rachel, Kathy, Nicole, Matthew, Carly and Becky; and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine.

A funeral service for Jerome E. Farrell, Sr. of Arlington Hts., 67, took place Monday, Apr. 2 at Glueckert Funeral Home. Visitation was the previous day. Interment at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. Jerome was born July 29, 1939 in Waukegan to John Albert Farrell and Jean Evelyn nee Alderin Farrell-Garretson. He lived in the area his entire life. He was a graduate of WTHS '57 and the Dale Carnegie School of business. Jerome owned his own financial business for 25 years. His passions were his family, golf, tennis, shooting pool and vacationing in Jamaica. He passed away Thursday, Mar. 29 at his home following a valiant battle with cancer. Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, George L. Garretson, and his brother-in-law, Charles J. Schroeder, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Velma nee Johnson, his children Ginger (Tom) Annett, John (Julia) Farrell, Jerome (Sheryl) Farrell, Jr., Philip Farrell, Sean (Varinia) Farrell and Heather (Ryan) Ticknell, 14 grandchildren, his sister Janice (Tom Donohue) Schroeder, his niece Jean H. Schroeder, his nephew Charles J. (Veronica) Schroeder III, and his faithful cocker spaniel, Morgan. Memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1114 N. Funeral services for William T. Kantner, 79, were held Tuesday, Apr. 10 at St. Raymond de Penafort Church in Mt. Prospect. Visitation was held Monday, Apr. 9 at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Kantner died Thursday, Apr. 5, one day before his eightieth birthday, at Northwest Community Healthcare in Arlington Heights. Born Apr. 6, 1927 in Chicago, Kantner was a retired lithographer for Regansteiner Press in Chicago. He was also a navy veteran of World War II. Kantner is survived by his children Gary Kantner, Steven Kantner, Lloyd (Ann) Kantner and Linda (William) Moreno; grandchildren Stephanie Rose, Thomas and Laura Kantner, and Brittany and Brandon Moreno; three great grandchildren and sister Jeanne (Edwin) Waluska. He was preceded in death by his wife Rose Mary Kantner nee O'Halloran. Internment will be at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. A funeral service for Margaret P. Morris, 99, took place on Monday, Apr. 16, at Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Arlington Heights. Interment was at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Ms. Morris was born on Aug. 26, 1907 in Chicago. She died on Thursday, Apr. 12, at Resurrection Health Care Center in Park Ridge. She worked as a secretary for an insurance company. Ms. Morris was survived by her niece Joan (John) Lynch and nephew William (Kathy) Watson. She was the great aunt of many as well. Ms. Morris was preceded in death by her parents John and Alice Morris, and siblings Ruth Morris, Dorothy Watson and Clifford Morris.

A funeral service for Lawrence E. Pasdiora of Niles, 84, was held Monday, Apr. 9, at St. John Brebeuf Church. Visitation was held the day before at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Mr. Pasdiora was born on Oct. 24, 1922 in Chicago. He died Friday, Apr. 6 at Lutheran General Hospital. He was a bus driver and a former community business owner of the Niles Bus Company. He was also a WWII veteran. In addition, he was a member of Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society; Niles Lions Club and Niles/Park Ridge VFW's. He is survived by his children, Mary (Erv) Hintz, Patricia (Steven) Clarfield, Linda (the late Terrence) Class, Diana (Nick) Bavaro, and Theresa (Mark) Ofenloch; grandchildren, Nina, Todd, Terry, Jr., Grant, Sarah, Kurt, David and Garrett; great-grandchildren, James and Karen Class; siblings, Edward and Marion B.V.M.; companion, Pauline Froman. Mr. Thorsen was born Nov. 5, 1941 in Chicago. He was a warehouse manager for Bantam Book Company for many years. He passed away Apr. 14 at his home. He is survived by his wife Carol nee Schmitt Thorsen, his son Charles (Kathy) Stack, his grandchildren Charles Stack, Michelle (Michael) Riddle, Steven Stack, and Stacy Stack, and his great grandchildren Kathryn "Gertrude" Riddle, Allison "Alien" Riddle, and Carolyn "Tinker" Riddle. A funeral service for Donald W. Wingler, 64, took place on Wednesday, Apr. 11, at Grove Memorial Chapel. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he died peacefully at home on Friday, Apr. 6. Mr. Wingler spent 35 years working for Beatrice Con Agra Foods as regional sales manager. He loved people and always made them smile. He loved playing golf and once played at Pebble Beach. He touched the lives of everyone he knew and will be deeply missed. Mr. Wingler was survived by his wife Kathy (nee Piltaver) and step-daughter Kari L. (Steve) Vermilion-Pantol. Funeral services for longtime Iroquois Middle School math teacher George A. Amundsen, 64, were held Thursday, Aug. 3 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Born on Feb. 28, 1943 in Chicago, Amundsen died Monday, July 30 at Claremont Nursing Home in Buffalo Grove. Amundsen was a graduate of the Maine West High School Class of '61 and North Park College, Class of '65. He was a 28-year teacher at Iroquois Middle School in Des Plaines. Fellow alumni from North Park University established the George Amundsen Viking Warrior award for him, honoring those who survived difficulties in life. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (nee Steiger); children Jeffrey (Tricia), Kevin and Julieann; grandchild David and sister Jan (Richard) Boyle. The funeral was scheduled for Wednesday at St. Matthew Church in Schaumburg. Buckel was born Oct. 22, 1992 in Park Ridge. She was a graduate of Carl Sandberg Jr. High School. Ben L. Jachim, 71, of Rolling Meadows, died Friday, Aug. 3, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 6, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, also in Rolling Meadows. Jachim was born Jan. 6, 1936, in Chicago. He worked for Steiner Electric as a sales representative for over 37 years. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Rolling Meadows Senior Center where he served as vice president. He is survived by his wife, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a sister. He is preceded in death by his brother Dennis Jachim. A funeral service for Roman J. Kendziora, 83, of Rolling Meadows was private. He was born on July 23, 1924 in Evanston. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII then worked for Northern Illinois Gas for more than 28 years. He died at Church Creek in Arlington Heights on Aug. 2, 2007. His siblings preceded him in death.
