Richard J. Hickey
Richard J. Hickey, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Scottsdale, Ariz., Friday, March 26, 2004. He was born in Chicago, where he met and married
his wife, Patricia, in 1942.
He attended Yale University, served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and pursued a career in electrical contracting. He owned and operated McWilliams Electric Co. and OK Electric in the Chicago area. He was a member of the IBEW Local Union 134, an active participant in IBEW Local Union 701 and vice president of the Illinois Chapter of the National Electrical Contracting Association.
Mr. Hickey retired to Arizona in 1978 and was able to devote more time to his favorite pastimes of flying, travel and golf.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia; three sons, Roger (wife Donna) Hickey, Robert (wife Paula) Hickey and Rick (wife Claire) Hickey; two daughters, Jill (husband Dan) Zak and Jayne Hickey; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at SS Peter and Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Josephine Richter Sanborn
Josephine Richter Sanborn, 86, of Orlando, Fla., died March 19, 2004. She was born May 14, 1917, in LaPorte, Ind.
She grew up in LaPorte and married
Charles Sanborn Sr. on Aug. 24, 1940. They owned and operated Moore Lumber and Supply Co., which was on the Riverwalk in downtown Naperville. They were members of Naperville Country Club, where Jo was women's club champion for 25 years. The Sanborns sold the lumberyard in September 1971 and retired to Lady's Island, Beaufort, S.C. They moved to Orlando in October 2003.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Sr. of Orlando; two sons, Charles Jr. (wife Sonja) of Naperville and John Richter of Orlando; and four grandchildren, Scott (wife Dorothy), Stephen, Kristen and Christy.
Interment was private.

Ronald C. Schumann
Ronald C. Schumann, 56, of Aurora died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at his home in Aurora. He was born Nov. 13, 1947, in Uniondale, N.Y.
Mr. Schumann was the manager of Plastic Application, North American Corporate Technologies for Crown Cork and Seal Corp. in Alsip. He was an avid golfer who was also a private pilot and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife, Ginnie (Willard); two daughters, Michele Bohenkamp of Addison, Texas, and Teri (husband George) Nawara of Plainfield; two grandchildren, Alexis and Jason Nawara, both of Plainfield; his mother, Irene Schumann of Wilmington, Del.; two brothers, Robert (wife Ning) and Richard "Jeff" (wife Teresa) Schumann, both of Hockessin, Del.; a sister, Patricia Draper of Newark, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Schumann.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville.
Interment will be at Naperville cemetery, Naperville.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the funeral home.

Savannah E. Olson

Donald A. Stump
Donald A. Stump, 92, of Hot Springs, Ark., and formerly of Naperville, died Sunday, March 7, 2004. He was born Nov. 8, 1911, in Chicago to Albert and Bessie Jewel Stump.
He was the retired owner of Richley Cartage Co. in Chicago and a graduate of North Central College in Naperville.
He and his wife, Mabel, operated Rollerville in Naperville from 1963 to 1972. Rollerville was a nonprofit outdoor community roller-skating rink. In recognition of this community service, the Stumps were commended for "opening their hearts and their home to the children of Naperville."
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mabel; three sons, Terry Stump of Hot Springs, Donald Stump Jr. of San Antonio, and Gordon Stump of South Salem, Ohio; a daughter, Carol Drendel of Venice, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services for Mr. Stump were held in Hot Springs. Interment was at Clarendon Hills cemetery in Darien.

Richard L. Priebe
Richard L. Priebe, 70, a resident of Woodridge for 36 years, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 27, 1933, in Blue Island.
He was employed as a salesperson for an electrical company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed golf and bowling. He was very active with his church.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Bernhard); two children, Mark (wife Alice) Priebe and Linda (husband Brett) Doranski; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Taylor and Ryan; and a sister, Doris (husband Marvin) Henke.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at Hallowell and James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, May 17, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 W. 75th St., Woodridge.
Interment will be private.

Mary M. (Finnegan) Schalkey
Mary M. (Finnegan) Schalkey, 66, an Oswego resident for five years and formerly of Lisle for 35 years, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Alden of Waterford in Aurora. She was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Oak Park.
She grew up on Chicago's west side and in Gleason, Wis., where she was a graduate of Antigo High School. She was employed by Molex Corp. in Lisle for 25 years as an order entry clerk and was a member of the Molex Retirees Club. She was a former member of St. Joan of Arch Church in Lisle and currently of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Robert) Richardson of Naperville, Margaret (Robert) Fuerst of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Barbara (Greg) Kwiatkowski of Oswego; 11 grandchildren, Dan, Liz, Steph and Mary Richardson, Amanda, Alex and Evan Fuerst, Jim, Joe, Chris and Jack Kwiatkowski; and eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Schalkey, whom she married
in 1956; her parents, John and Mildred Finnegan; and two brothers, Ed and John Finnegan.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Family and friends will meet for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday, May 19, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, with the Rev. Bob Collogan officiating.
Interment will take place at Naperville cemetery in Naperville.
Clarence A. 'Bud' Godber Jr.
Clarence A. "Bud" Godber Jr., 69, formerly of Naperville, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Catherine Shaw Betha Hospital in Dixon. He was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Bryn Mawr, Pa.
He was a resident of Naperville from 1973 to 1995. From Naperville, he moved to Ocean Shores, Wash., for four years and then to Rockford. He retired in 1993 as a regional service manager after 35 years with 3M Corp. in Oak Brook. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (husband Mark) McDonald of Huntley; a son, Stephen Godber of Mesa, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Melissa (husband Jose) Navarro of Aurora and Meredith Lee of Aurora; a brother, Thomas (wife Ellen) Godber of Boca Raton, Fla.; a sister, Roberta Basile of Broomall, Pa.; five grandchildren, Dan and Tara McDonald, and Christopher, Rachel and Alex Navarro; and his former wife, Janice (Liptak) Godber.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Josephine "Jo Lee" Godber; his parents, Clarence A. Godber Sr. and Marian E. (McIvar) Godber; a daughter, Cheryl Godber; and a grandson, Joshua Maurer.

George Gatto Jr.
George Gatto Jr., 68, a resident of Aurora since 1989 and a former resident of Chicago and Berkeley, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at his home. He was born Nov. 14, 1935, in Chicago.
He grew up on Chicago's west side and was a graduate of and captain of the football team at Marshall High School. He turned down a football scholarship at the University of Denver, instead beginning a 35-year career with Illinois Bell as a salesman, retiring in 1990. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, served his community as a village trustee in Berkeley and served youths as a group leader for Junior Achievement and as a coach and president of the Berkeley Youth Baseball Association. He enjoyed golf and bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Rita M. (McCabe) Gatto of Aurora, whom he married
Sept. 21, 1958; two daughters, Diane (husband Craig) Gifford and Denise Gatto of Aurora; two sons, Kevin (wife Sheila) Gatto of Aurora and Craig (wife Sheri) Gatto of Normal; nine grandchildren, Nicole (husband Matthew) Baugh, Lindsay, Danielle and Justine Gifford, Brandon, Brittney, Brianna and Brooke Gatto, and Tyler Gatto; a brother, Dominick (wife Norma) Gatto of Wood Dale; a sister, Angelina (the late Louis) Rizzatto of Aurora; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Emily Gatto; and four siblings, Joseph and Frank Gatto, Rose Blacconeri and Loretta Hickey.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 24, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Family and friends will meet at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, for committal services at the interment chapel at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.
Entombment will follow at Christ the King Mausoleum.

Richard P. Glidden
Richard P. Glidden, 76, of Naperville died Monday, May 10, 2004, at his home. He was born April 4, 1928, in Kansas City, Kan.
He had been a Naperville resident since 1963. He was a past member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and member of St. Raphael Catholic Church since 1972. He was the owner of Glidden Meat Brokerage Co. for 20 years. He was a former member of the Naperville Moose Lodge and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Greta, whom he married
in 1959; four sons, Gary (wife Angela) Glidden of Milwaukee, Kevin Glidden of Naperville, Tim Glidden of Milwaukee and Tom (wife Andrea) Glidden of Aurora; three grandchildren, Crystal, Scott and Syna; a brother, Jim Glidden of Naperville; and two sisters, Ruth Campbell of Sacramento, Calif., and Carol Glidden of Kansas City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Rose (Lucas) Glidden, and a brother, Robert.
