Wayne E. Hamm
Wayne E. Hamm, 92, of Astoria and formerly of Naperville, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. He was born May 19, 1912, in Vermont, Ill.
He worked for several years for Sears Roebuck and Co. and worked as purchasing and delivery agent for Don L. Dise Primus Corp. from 1946 to 1993. He was involved in the beginning of the Church of the Brethren Heifer Project and took a load of goats by boat to Japan in 1946. He collected arrowheads and other various items, loved square dancing, and was a Lapidarian, where he cut and polished rocks and gem stones. He was a member of CPS-alternate service for three-and-a-half years in lieu of military service. He was a member of Naperville Community United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hamm of Naperville; a daughter, Cheryl (husband Carlton) Tillman of Gainsville, Fla.; a son, Scott (wife Linda) Carothers of Parkland, Fla.; four grandchildren, Michael and Simone Tillman and Joseph and Nicholas Carothers; a sister-in-law, Pat Hamm of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Verle Hamm, and a sister, Mildred Emerich.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Astoria Church of the Brethren in Astoria. The Revs. Gary Schultz and Tom Babler will officiate.
Interment will be at Astoria cemetery.

Raymond E. Krauss Sr.
Raymond E. Krauss Sr., 62, a six-year resident of Naperville and longtime resident of Tinley Park, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 16, 2004, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 12, 1942, in Chicago.
He was a graduate of Calumet High School, class of 1960, where he met his wife-to-be for 41 years. Ray and Rita were married
July 28, 1962. He was a valuable and loyal employee to Romano Brothers Beverage Co., now Southern Wine and Spirits, for 33 years. It was there that Ray befriended and mentored colleagues and friends that became like family to him. He had a zeal for life while working, and helping not only his children, but others. He was extremely involved in organizing and building the Brementowne Youth Athletic Club in Tinley Park in the early 1970s. He then switched his passion to the Victor Andrew High School Booster Club where he served as president and was instrumental in raising the necessary funding to build the first stadium lights and concession stands.
In his later years, he loved spending quality time with his wife, Rita; his three children and their spouses and his four grandchildren. He developed a strong interest in exotic birds and is survived by his loyal friend and companion "Loki." He was the cornerstone in maintaining strong family values that will live on forever.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita (Byrne) of Naperville; his loving children, Raymond E. (wife Suzanne) Krauss Jr. of Naperville, Daniel J. (wife Colleen) Krauss of Indianapolis, Ind., and Michele K. (husband Steven) Doty of Naperville; his cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Nicholas Doty and Corey and Kaylyn Krauss; his dear brothers, Fred (wife Nancy) Krauss and Kenneth (wife Kathleen) Krauss; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frieda and Fred Krauss.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

Kristen Elyse Passanisi
Kristen Elyse Passanisi, 18, of Oswego and Naperville, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Foster G. McGaw Hospital in Maywood. She was born Feb. 14, 1986, in San Mateo, Calif.
Kristen was a senior at Naperville North High School. She was very active with the American Cancer Society, especially the Relay for Life program.
She is survived by her mother, Jerrie (husband W. Thomas) Baumgartner of Oswego; her maternal grandparents, Jerry and Barbara Flynn of Evant, Texas; her paternal grandparents, Walter and Sonya Baumgartner of Aurora; her aunts, Melody (husband Jack) Hall of Blue Springs, Mo., and Gail Crow of Nixa, Mo.; and her loving dogs, Poody and Kujo.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 28, at the SS Peter and Paul Ministry Center, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 29, in the ministry center.
Interment will be at Naperville cemetery.

Anthony J. "Tony G" Giannola
Anthony J. "Tony G" Giannola, 76, a four-year resident of Naperville and former resident of Chicago and Elmhurst, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born July 22, 1927, in Chicago.
He grew up in Chicago's Little Italy neighborhood. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was employed for many years as a lens grinder for Uhleman Optical in Chicago, and later for Marshall Field's on Diversey Avenue in Chicago. He was an avid baseball fan and loved the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed bowling, gardening and the music of Frank Sinatra. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Florence (Michel) Botbol of Naperville; two grandchildren, Max and Lucas Botbol; his former spouse, Joyce (Mize) Giannola of Indian Head Park; a brother-in-law, Ralph Nardi of Chicago; three nieces and nephews, Bruno Nardi of Florida, Terry (Jerry) Giorgi of Frankfort and Sam (Nargis) Nardi of Lake in the Hills; four great-nieces and great-nephews; and his black Lab, Smokey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Stella Giannola, and a sister, Josephine Nardi.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Services will begin at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Raphael Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville.
Interment will be at St. Adalbert cemetery in Niles.

Harold L. 'Jake' Koenig
Harold L. "Jake" Koenig, 74, of Keshena, Wis., and formerly of Naperville, died suddenly Monday, May 17, 2004, in Appleton, Wis. He was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Joliet and was a resident of Naperville from 1959 to 1987. He also had a residence in Beverly Hills, Fla.
He graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1947. He received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois in 1951 and his MBA in 1960 from the University of Chicago. Mr. Koenig retired in 1987 as section engineer after 35 years of employment with Commonwealth Edison in Chicago. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and received the rank of first lieutenant, commissioned Jan. 7, 1953. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Chicago, Medinah Temple, Chicago, Joliet Lodge 42 and Joliet District Low 12 Club. He formerly held memberships with the DeMolay, Order of Eastern Star, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America and Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan (Sanders), whom he married
Nov. 28, 1953; three children, Harold (wife Mallonee) Koenig Jr. of St. Charles, Pennie (husband John) Sawa of Naperville and Terrie Murr of Ridge Farm; nine grandchildren, Kalynn, Tori and Hallie Lickfelt, Julia and Joe Sawa and Jennifer, Marie, Anna and Kelsey Murr; two sisters, Marianne Leonhardt and Iryne Koenig, both of Joliet; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 21, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville.

Kenneth A. Ohman
Kenneth Arthur Ohman, 68, of Oregon, Ill., formerly of Naperville, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon. He was born June 6, 1935, in Geneva.
He graduated from Rockford West High School in 1953, attended Wharton School of Business and graduated from the University of Chicago's MBA program in 1977. He had been a regional manager for Southwestern Bell, Pacific Bell and Central Bell and vice president and regional director for Bell Telephone Corp. nationwide. He married
Lorene (Carter) on Aug. 4, 1984, in Lake Geneva, Wis. He had served as 2nd Lt. Company Ex. Officer for Company C 1st Battalion of the Illinois National Guard. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville and Naperville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3873.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene; a son, David (wife Donna) Ohman of Lisle; a daughter, Robin Wedeman of Naperville; four grandchildren, Morgan Ohman, Jason Ohman, Ryan Ohman and Katie Wedeman; a brother, Ed (wife Rose) Ohman of Lariner, Colo.; and a sister, Carla (husband Robert) Fill of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Viola (Christensen) Ohman; and a sister, Melinda Ohman-Olson.

Vivian M. Kickert, 91, of Naperville and formerly of Worth, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Alden Nursing Home in Naperville.
She is survived by two children, Jean S. Nichols and William Donald Kickert; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kickert, and a son, Raymond Kickert.

Holly Elizabeth (Pfau) O'Hare
After 25 courageous years battling cancer, Holly Elizabeth (Pfau) O'Hare, 49, passed peacefully Tuesday, May 11, 2004, surrounded by her family at Hinsdale Hospital.
She had been a dedicated special-education teacher for more than 25 years at Central School in Riverside. In addition to teaching, she had a passion of life, animals, gardening and horseback riding. The people whose lives she touched will never forget her or the wonderful life that she lived.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 21 years, George L. O'Hare III of Lisle; her loving parents, Charles and Elizabeth Pfau of North Riverside; her dear brothers, Charlie (Lynn) Pfau of Naperville and Gregory (Ann) Parker of Tallahassee, Fla.; her dear sister, Dawn (Richard) Pearson of Arlington Heights; 13 wonderful nieces and nephews, Matthew, Rosemary, Jennifer, Christopher, Maggie, Mary Katherine, Tom, Jill, Steven, Cathy, Rachel, David and Paul; her loving parents-in-law, George and Jean O'Hare of Hinsdale; her dear brothers-in-law, Mike (Ana) O'Hare of Naperville and Bob O'Hare of Hinsdale; her beloved golden retrievers, Cassey and Cody; her cats, Oreo and Tiger; and her horse, Jake.
She will also be deeply missed by all of her friends and students.
