June Bergmann
June Bergmann, 81, of LaPorte, Ind., formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000 at home.
Funeral services were held at Valhalla Cemetery Chapel, Milwaukee, Wisc., with Rev. Roger Boesch officiating. Interment was at Valhalla Cemetery.
Mrs. Bergmann was the mother of Sue (William) McShane and Thomas (Evelyn), grandmother of three, and great-grandmother of two. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents; and a sister.
Mrs. Bergmann was a long-time member of the PEO Sisterhood, was on of the founders of the LaPorte Chapter EI and was a member of the First Church of Lombard. She had lived in Lombard from 1950-88.
Memorials to the PEO Sisterhood of LaPorte County Council on Aging would be appreciated.
Bruno Bruknis
Bruno J. Bruknis, 86, of Lombard, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000 at Edwards Hospital in Naperville.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 7, with prayers from Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard, to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
Mr. Bruknis was the husband of Anne, father of William G. (fiance Rose Panza-Cholewinski) and Barbara A. (Joseph) Scalzitti, grandfather of four, and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley and Alphonse; sister, Elvira; and brothers-in-law, Sam (Allegra) and Charles (Lois) Ralis.
Mr. Bruknis was a resident of Lombard, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Don Varnas Post #986 American Legion. He had worked as an insurance adjuster.
Memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
John Craig
John M. Craig, 58, of Villa Park, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000 at home.
Funeral services and intermenty were private.
Mr. Craig was the husband of Janette; father of Gillian, Ann, Andrew, Elizabeth and Jeff; grandfather of five; son of Sarah; and brother of Millicent Winsberg, Susan McChesney and Morag Callan.
Mr. Craig was a tool and die maker for Cast Products in Elk Grove Village.
Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
Kenneth Detloff
Kenneth A. Detloff, 70, of Lombard, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000 at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 9, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard to Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Lombard, with Rev. Greg Rothfuchs officiating. Interment was at Assumption Cemetery, Winfield.
Mr. Detloff was the father of Karen (Robert) Raica, Sharon (Kenneth) Hohmann, Janice (Mark) Frontzak, Regina (Greg) Semerius and Erick (Tammy); grandfather of seven; brother of Marge Kissel, Dorothy (Dominick) Guzell, Betty (Elroy) Castle, Bernice (Bob) Emerson and Bill (Marge); and uncle of many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia J.; sister, Catherine; and brother-in-law, John Kissel.
Mr. Detloff was a resident of Lombard since 1975. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired in 1996 from Executive Construction of Oak Brook, where he had worked since 1975. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #58.
Bernice Eaton
Bernice R. Eaton, nee Roblyer, of Lombard, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000 at home.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Black-Lamb Funeral Home, 229 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Eaton was the mother of Barbara (Gordon) Will, grandmother of one, and sister-in-law of Ethel Roblyer.
Memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Lombard, 155 S. Main St., Lombard, IL 60148 would be appreciated.
Harriette Hartig
Harriette L. Hartig, 57, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with Rev. Patrick Boomhower of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
Ms. Hartig was the daughter of Harriette F., sister of Frances (Lawrence) Riforgiate of Lombard aunt of Annette McClelland of Lombard and Michael McClelland, and great-aunt of two. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward W.
Ms. Hartig was a graduate of Glenbard High School and had attended Normal University. She had worked at NNT in Itasca for four years and was currently employed by Tricon in Lisle, as an accountant, where she had worked for three years.

N. Vernon McCoy-Milem
N. Vernon McCoy-Milem, of Lombard, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 at home.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the First United Methodist Church of Lombard.
Mr. McCoy-Milem was the husband of E. Joan; father of Sherry (Ted) Milem-Washburn, Gary (Delores) and Kerry; and devoted grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. McCoy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He received degrees from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, the John Herron School of Arts in Indianapolis and from the Academy of Arts in Chicago. He was a former dean of the Chicago Academy of Finer Arts and former president of the Chicago Artist's Guild. He taught various art classes in the surrounding communities over the years and was well-known as "Mr. Vern." Many of his murals are displayed throughout the community.
Herbert Nehlsen
Rev. Herbert Henry Nehlsen, 74, of Arden, N. C., died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Groce Funeral Home, Arden, N.C.
Rev. Nehlsen was the husband of Jessie; father of Becky, Debbie (Larry) Peck, Judi and Steve (Amy) grandfather of five; and brother of Walter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry James and Hulda Becker Nelson.
Rev. Nehlsen was a native of Oak Park, and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He served the Christian and Missionary Alliance in West Africa for over 40 years, and was a member of Christ Community Church, Fletcher, N.C.
