Burnette Nicholson

Burnette G. "Nick" Nicholson, 81, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000.

A memorial service was held on Monday, Sept. 4.

Mr. Nicholson was the husband of Elaine; father of Bonnie (Scott) Worley, James (Jan), Jeffrey (Delores) and Ellen (Paul) Kotelensky; grandfather of six; great-grandfather of 10; and brother of Amos E.

Mr. Nicholson had been a long-time resident of Lombard.

Cathryn Petrie

Cathryn T. Petrie, nee Trollope, 96, of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Lombard, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000 at Lexington Health Care in Lombard.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with Rev. David Price officiating. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago.

Mrs. Petrie was the mother of Warren M. Jr. (Donna Mae) of Lombard, James E. (Julie), Glenn A. (Leslie) and Hazel (Earl) Lum; grandmother of 12; and great-grandmother of 16. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren M. Sr.; daughter, Cara Ellen (John) Layman; and three sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Petrie was a resident of Lombard for 64 years and a resident of Glen Ellyn for five years. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn and a member of the sewing circle at the church. She had worked at Western Electric, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a member of the #391 American Legion Auxiliary, a volunteer at the DuPage Convalescent Home and a homemaker.

Memorials to Hospice of DuPage, 690 E. North Ave., Carol Stream, IL 60188 would be appreciated.

Fred Sieloff

Fred F. Sieloff, 88, of Montgomery, Ala., formerly of Villa Park, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 at home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is private.

Mr. Sieloff was the husband of Lorraine; father of Doretta (Hank), Hector, Roger and Fred (Ellen); grandfather of four; great-grandfather of two; and brother of Raymond C.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society or Parview Day Care Center, 1625 Lake St., Montgomery, AL 36106 would be appreciated.

Mary Smith

Mary Etheline Smith, nee Griffin, 82, of Lombard, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 at Manor Care in Rolling Meadows.

Funeral services will be held today, Sept. 13 with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard, with Rev. Arno Dennerlein officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.

Mrs. Smith was the sister of Cecelia Dilley, aunt of five nieces and nephews, and great-aunt of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto J.; sisters, Ellen Padula and Elizabeth Ryan; and brothers-in-law, Dwight Dilley, Jerry Padula and Thomas Ryan.

Mrs. Smith was a resident of Lombard since 1952. She had worked in retail sales at the Fair Store, Chicago, as a section manager.

Masses would be appreciated.

Virginia Bach

Virginia H. Back, 89, of Elmhurst, died Friday, June 1, 2001 at Lexington Healthcare Center in Elmhurst.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 5, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park, with the Rev. Kevin Gushiken officiating. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.

Mrs. Bach was the wife of Roy E. Sr., mother of Roy E. Jr. (Sally), grandmother of five, and aunt and great-aunt of many.

Mrs. Bach was an active member of the Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church for 40 years. She was also an active member of the the Impaired Vision Group at Lexington.

Donations to the Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church, 206 W. St. Charles Road, Villa Park, IL 60181 or Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, 950 Hart Road, Batavia, IL 60510 would be appreciated.

Elaine Cugier

Elaine Marie Cugier, nee Sullivan, 75, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Lombard, died Monday, May 28, 2001 in Alaska.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 2, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Arno Dennerlein officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Mrs. Cugier was the mother of Maureen Aed, Kathleen (Kenneth) Kray, Sharon (Jerry) Poole, Denise (Kurt) Blanken, Tom, David (Ellen) and Don (Debbie); grandmother of 22; great-grandmother of two; and sister of Roger (Maryann) Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; granddaughter, Karin Elaine Kray; and parents, Edwin and Harriet Sullivan.

Mrs. Cugier was a resident of Lombard from 1963-88. She was a registered nurse, and worked at Joslyn Clinic in Maywood, and also at Meyer, Meyer and Albers office in Lombard from 1972-87.

Memorials to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcomb Blvd., Houston, Texas, 77030, c/o the Head and Neck Center, would be appreciated.

James Dow

James L. Dow, 71, of Florida, died Saturday, June 2, 2001 in Lombard

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 5, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was private.

Mr. Dow was the husband of Elaine A.; father of Jacki (John) Cullen, Vicki (Jim) Hammer, Bev (Bill) Wehrle, Bonnie (Terry) Davis, Patti (Ron) Fugle and Heide (Steve) Koehler; grandfather of 17; great-grandfather of four; and brother of Marcia (Marlin) Gustin and Betty (James) Stoldt. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Mr. Dow was a resident of Lombard for 28 years, and moved to Sun City Center in Florida. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Midwest O.E. Local 150, and the Evergreen Masonic Lodge #1171.

Memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated.

Joseph Doyle

Joseph F. Doyle, 88, of Villa Park, died Friday, May 27, 2001 at home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 31, at Oak Brook Community Church in Oak Brook. Interment was private.

Mr. Doyle was the husband of Edna May; father of Maureen (Kenneth) Martinson, Joanne (Dane) Cuny, Thomas and Richard (Marybeth); and grandfather of 11. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry.

Mr. Doyle was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and was a retired electrical engineer for I.T.T. Co. He was a member of St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 999 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 would be appreciated.

Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.
