David A. Meyer
David A. Meyer, 62, a resident of Big Rock and formerly of Naperville, was at rest Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora. He was born Oct. 14, 1942, in Aurora.
Mr. Meyer grew up in a farming community and was still actively involved in farming. He was an alumni of Benet Academy in Lisle and a past president of the Dad's Club. For more than 20 years, he was the greenskeeper at the Indian Lakes and Nordic Hills golf clubs, as well as the former co-owner of River Heights Golf Course, Prestbury Golf Course and Hughes Golf Course in Elburn, where he was manager. He was a member and past president of the Midwest Association of Golf Course Superintendents. He was a proud supporter of the DuPage, Kane, DeKalb, Kendall County and Elburn 4-H and livestock auctions and a former member and leader of the Lisle Opportunity 4-H Club. He was a past president of the DuPage County Fair board and DuPage County Farm Bureau, and a member of the Illinois State Fair Association. Mr. Meyer was a founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Naperville. He truly enjoyed living and his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Penny (Waskow) Meyer; his children, Bryan (wife Sara) Meyer of Sugar Grove, Heather (husband Mike) Espe of Elburn, Austin Meyer of Lisle and Kara Meyer of Woodstock; his three wonderful grandchildren, Kayla Meyer and Davis and Rhett Espe; two sisters, Mary Ann (husband Brand) Bobosky of Naperville and Sue (husband Paul) Baron of Hayward, Wis.; and three brothers, Bill Meyer of Colts Neck, N.J., Jim (wife Sue) Meyer of Raleigh, N.C., and Bob (wife Lynn) Meyer of Wake Forest, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Marge Meyer, and his son, Kirk David Meyer.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A funeral service will begin with prayers at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the funeral home chapel and proceed to a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.
Interment will follow at SS Peter and Paul cemetery in Naperville.

Maude R. McGee
Maude R. McGee, 102, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Heartwood House Northcrest Community in Ames, Iowa.
Maude Sophia Ridenour McGee was born Nov. 19, 1901, on a farm near Mallard, Palo Alto County, Iowa, to Julia Ellen (Peden) and Ernest Grant Ridenour. She graduated from Mallard High School and enrolled in Iowa State Teachers College in 1919. She taught two years in rural schools, attending ISTC in the summer. On Nov. 18, 1922, she married
Nacy W. McGee in Cherokee, Iowa, and taught the first year of their marriage in western Iowa, where her husband was superintendent of schools. The next 14 years she was a homemaker, during which time their four sons were born, the third son, James Gerald, dying in infancy. She returned to teaching in 1938 and taught three years in Greenville, followed by five years in Fayette and Pella, Iowa, and 17 1/2 years in Naperville, where her husband taught political science at North Central College.
After Professor McGee retired, he taught at Upland College, Upland, Calif., and she taught elementary school in Cucamonga. After teaching at Williamsburg, Ky., and Fresno, Calif., she and her husband returned to Naperville where she lived until 1995, when she moved to an apartment at Northcrest Community in Ames, Iowa.
She served as secretary or co-chairperson of various church, school and social organizations. She was active in the DuPage County Retired Teachers Association and was a member of Naperville Community United Methodist Church for 49 years. She and her husband traveled extensively, including all 50 states, the Canadian provinces, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and the British Isles. She and her husband were devoted to public service. After his death in 1983 she committed herself to helping senior citizens, driving others to senior centers, quilting, traveling, writing short stories and poems, gardening and organizing groups for card games, exercise classes and board games.
She is survived by three sons, Nacy Waters McGee Jr. of Duncanville, Texas, Thomas Donald McGee of Ames and Paul Richard McGee of Duncanville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews that she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nacy Waters McGee; an infant son, James Gerald; two sisters, Edith Ridenour Grove Hanna and Hazel Ridenour Miller; and a brother, Harold Clarence Ridenour.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Adams Funeral Home, 502 Douglas Ave., Ames, Iowa.
The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at First Methodist Church.
Interment will be at McGee Bethel cemetery, a pioneer cemetery north of Farley, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to Heartwood House or McGee Bethel cemetery.
Peter E. 'Pete' Boecker
Peter E. "Pete" Boecker, 67, of Naperville died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born March 4, 1937.
He graduated from Naperville Community High School, class of 1955. He joined the U.S. Army. He owned and operated DuPage Asphalt since 1963, the second-oldest family business in Naperville, a family extension from Boecker Coal and Grain, founded in 1868. He was a past volunteer of the Naperville Fire Department; served on the DuPage County Fair board; was an executive board member of Friends of Danada and operated Danada Model Farm; was a member of the Mended Hearts of Good Samaritan Hospital, the Moose Lodge of Naperville and Veterans of Foreign Wars Judd-Kendall Post 3873; and was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Wheaton.
He is survived by his wife, Lois (Rathje) Boecker of Naperville; five children, Andrew (wife Christy) Boecker of Waterman, Katherine (husband Jeff) Thompson of St. Charles, Carey (husband Joel) Peterson of Milwaukee, Bonnie Boecker of Naperville and Ryan (wife Sarah) Boecker of Montgomery; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy (husband Bud) Mueller of Naperville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Esther Boecker.
Visitation will take place from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 N. West St., Wheaton.
Interment will be at Wheaton cemetery in Wheaton.

Estelle S. Starsiak
Estelle S. Starsiak, 84, of Naperville and formerly of Elmhurst, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at ManorCare Health Services of Naperville. She was born Dec. 26, 1919, in Weyerhauser, Wis.
She is survived by her children, Diane (husband Keith) Passafiume of Cave Creek, Ariz., and Daniel (wife Stephanie) Starsiak of Elk Grove Village; a granddaughter, Julia (husband Greg) Romine of Cave Creek; a great-grandson, Logan Keith Romine; her brothers-in-law, Theodore Rosiak of California and Norbert Malinski of Las Vegas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, John and Theodora Skoczen; four brothers; and four sisters.
Visitation will take place from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines.
Elizabeth G. Ragel
Elizabeth G. Ragel, beloved mother, age 83, of Naperville died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at her home. She was born May 19, 1921, in Hamtranck, Mich., and had been a resident of Naperville since 1979.
Mrs. Ragel was a member of the Naperville Woman's Club, Daughters of the British Empire, and volunteered with NAMI. She worked as a legal secretary for several years at various law firms in the Chicago area and was an election judge.
She is survived by a son, Keith, and two daughters, Mary and Jane, all of Naperville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Keith Ragel Sr.; her parents, Charles and Elizabeth (Kentowsky) Jenks; and a brother, Chuck Jenks.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville.
Richard Gene Brewer
Richard Gene Brewer, 74, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at his home in Shalimar, Fla., after a battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Gene, who was born July 7, 1930, in McDonough County, Ill., moved to Shalimar, along with his wife of 39 years, Nita Brewer, in 1999 from Naperville.
He served his country heroically as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Korea, where he was awarded a Bronze Star for gallantry. He was widely known for his beautiful baritone singing voice and worked for many years in the Chicago area as a sales and marketing manager in new home construction and was very active as a member of the executive committee of the Greater Chicago Sales and Marketing Council.
He is survived by his wife, Nita, of Shalimar; a son, Dennis (wife Linda), and a granddaughter, Cassie, of Ellisville, Mo.; a son, David (wife Ruth), and three grandsons, Christopher and Daniel Brewer and Dan Everett, of Chillicothe; a brother-in-law, Jack (wife Marilyn) Little and their family, of Shalimar; a sister-in-law, Dorie Little Setser of Macomb and her family; a cousin, Howard Black (wife Joan) of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and neighbors are invited to attend a celebration of Gene's life from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at Shalimar Pointe Country Club.
There will be a graveside service in Good Hope, Ill., at a later date.
The National Cremation Society in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., handled arrangements.
Frances S. Cabala
Frances S. (Jurczyk) Cabala, 90, a resident of Naperville for 30 years and formerly of Chicago, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville. She was born Sept. 19, 1913, in Chicago.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald (wife Patricia) Cabala of Lancaster, Pa., and Fred A. (wife Connie) Cabala of Wichita, Kan.; six granddaughters, Nancy (husband Bob) Kocanda of Chicago, Linda (husband Col. David) Haught of Fort Sill, Okla., Kathy (husband Tom) Garner of Lancaster, Cindy (husband Chris) Johnson of Wichita, Debby Cabala of Wichita and Jennifer (husband Donald) Cottner of Wichita; four great-grandchildren, Craig, Shannon, Lauren and Brent; numerous nieces and nephews, including Marge (husband Jim) Gardner of Naperville and Dennis (wife Barb) Hockey of Downers Grove; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Cabala was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Cabala; her parents, Louis and Antoinette Jurczyk; a sister, Elsie (the late Francis) Hockey; and a brother, Walter Jurczyk.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Additional visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at St. Patrick's Residence, 1400 Brookdale Road, Naperville. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's.
Interment will be at Resurrection cemetery in Justice.

Keith Thomas Galvin
Keith Thomas Galvin, 22, of Naperville died suddenly Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004. He was born Jan. 23, 1982, in Winfield.
Keith was a class of 2000 graduate of Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, where he played varsity soccer. He had attended Illinois State University and was a student at College of DuPage. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 150 in Countryside. He enjoyed weight training, body building and snow skiing in his spare time.
He is survived by his parents, Sharon (husband David) Swanson of Naperville and Thomas (wife Mary) Galvin of Oak Lawn; three brothers, Donald Galvin of Oak Lawn and Brad and Kyle Swanson of Naperville; his grandparents, Richard and Virginia Miller of Naperville, Gloria Galvin of Justice, Barbara Swanson of Richton Park and Antonio and Yolanda Hernandez of Miami; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald Galvin and George Swanson.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 24021 W. Royal Worlington Drive, Naperville.

Craig Michael Garber
Craig Michael Garber, 32, of Elmhurst and formerly of Naperville, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. He was born Nov. 20, 1971, in Downers Grove and was a 1990 graduate of Naperville North High School.
He was a member of Carpenters union Local 1889. He was the drummer and manager of the band Monster Trux, playing clubs in the Chicago area and in California, Michigan, Texas and Minnesota. The band had 10 CDs published. He was a big brother and father-figure to friends.
He is survived by his father, Jack (wife Cindy) Garber of Roswell, Ga.; his mother, Darlyne (husband Jim) Jackson of Phoenix; four sisters, Angie (husband Jim) Nuti of Lexington, Ky., Karen (husband Jeff) Ferrero of Mesa, Ariz., Natalie (husband Jon) Byeseda of Roswell and Tina (husband Russell) Taylor of Iowa; three brothers, Michael (wife Tonia) Jackson of Downers Grove, Nathan Garber of Roswell and Jimmy Jackson of Illinois; his maternal grandfather, Wilson McClain of Phoenix; a nephew, Bryson Ferrero; and two nieces, Kendall Nuti and Jaclyn Byeseda.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John David Garber, and a sister, Heather Jackson.

Edward A. Knapik
Edward A. Knapik, 72, of Naperville died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at his home. He was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Chicago.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He retired after 44 years of service from AT&T. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He will be remembered as being a very devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee"; his children, Amy Knapik of Wheaton and Cynthia (husband John) Epple of Lombard; his brother, Eugene (wife Leona) Knapik of Orland Park; his aunt, Helen Pryzbyla of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary Knapik; and his brother, Richard Knapik.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Arthur Enck
Arthur Enck, 85, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, in Sarasota, Fla. He was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Aurora.
He was joined in marriage to Dorothy Sittler on May 15, 1943. They had three children, Jim (wife Mary) Enck of Hinckley, Rick (wife Janet) Enck of Hinckley and Louann Lucas of Sarasota.
He was an active member of the Naperville Moose Lodge. He ran his own carpentry and concrete business in Naperville until his retirement, when he and Dorothy moved to Sarasota. He kept busy with his love of yard work and helping neighbors with their construction projects.
He is survived by his children; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 2002; his parents, Clarence and Lillian; two brothers; and two sisters.
No funeral or visitation are planned.
Interment will be private in Sarasota.
