Edward A. Knapik
Edward A. Knapik, 72, of Naperville died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at his home. He was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Chicago.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He retired after 44 years of service from AT&T. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He will be remembered as being a very devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee"; his children, Amy Knapik of Wheaton and Cynthia (husband John) Epple of Lombard; his brother, Eugene (wife Leona) Knapik of Orland Park; his aunt, Helen Pryzbyla of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary Knapik; and his brother, Richard Knapik.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Interment will follow at SS Peter and Paul cemetery in Naperville.

Marjorie J. Meyer
Marjorie J. (Kampmeyer) Meyer, 88, of Lisle died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Westbury Care Center. She was born Feb. 25, 1916, on a farm on East Hobson Road.
She graduated from Downers Grove Community High School. She worked for Hercules Powder Co. and Woodridge Golf Course in Lisle. She was a member of the Lisle Heritage Society, the Wheatland Plowing Match Association and the Ethel Marshall Homemakers Extension Unit. She also received the Lisle Rotary Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year Award in 1996.
She is survived by six children, Mary Ann (husband Brand) Bobosky of Naperville, David (wife Penny) of Big Rock, Susan (husband Paul) Baron of Hayward, Wis., William (wife Jenna) of Colts Neck, N.J., James (wife Susan) of Raleigh, N.C., and Robert (wife Lynn) of Wake Forest, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Harris of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony A. Meyer; her parents, Elmer and Ella Kampmeyer; and a brother, Ralph Kampmeyer.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 N. Mill St., Naperville, and 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at St. Joan of Arc Church, 820 Division St., Lisle.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joan of Arc.
Interment will be at SS Peter and Paul cemetery in Naperville.

Jeanne M. Mulroy, 46, of Romeoville died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004. She was born in New York, N.Y.
She was a graduate of Downers Grove South High School and attended the University of Illinois. She received a master's degree in food service systems and was employed at Palos Community Hospital. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Parish Council in Naperville, Christian Service Commission, and a volunteer at Northern Illinois Food Bank.
She is survived by her mother, Madeleine (Duquesnel); and three siblings, Karen, Thomas and Lynne (husband David) Smuskiewicz. She was the dear aunt of Jamie and Rachel.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Mulroy.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien.
A funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, Naper Boulevard and Green Trails Drive, Naperville.

Dorothy Jane Porter, 87, was at rest Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville. She was born May 31, 1917, in Chicago.
She is survived by her loving children, Bob (wife Pat) Porter of Aurora, Betsy (husband Buzz) Boehm of Charleston, S.C., Mary Jane (husband Gerry) Hujik of Roswell, Ga., Irv Porter of Aurora and Kate (husband Paul) Samek of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, H. Willis Henson in 1947 and Robert D. Porter in 1999; her son, Donald Porter; her great-granddaughter, Mary Kate Flanagan; her parents, Henry and Bess Bannon-Koch; and her sisters, Gretchen Barlow and Betty Conlin.

Joseph Elmer Chmelir
Joseph Elmer Chmelir, 91, of Naperville died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at his home. He was born July 22, 1913, in Wilber, Neb.
He had been a resident of Naperville since 1954 and a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He had retired from International Harvester in 1969 after 32 years of service as a mechanical engineer. During post-retirement, he was employed as the deputy assessor for the Naperville Township from 1973 to 1990. He also was a member of the Knife and Fork Club. He graduated in 1937 from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor's in engineering.
He is survived by his wife, Rosella; five children, David (wife Dorothy) Chemler of River Forest, Gary Chmelir of Austin, Texas, Robert Chmelir of Yorkville, Elizabeth (husband Lawrence) Houlihan of Des Plaines and Paul (wife Susan) Chemler of Naperville; six grandchildren, Dr. Sherry Chemler, Catherine Chemler, Joseph Chemler, Kevin Houlihan, and Thomas and Laura Chemler; and a brother, Ervin Chmelir of Wenatchee, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lydia Chmelir; and a granddaughter, Cynthia Joan Chemler.

Patricia 'Patty' Brockett Cymbala
Patricia "Patty" Brockett Cymbala, 45, of Naperville passed away on Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Patty grew up in Gallatin, Tenn., where she was a high school cheerleader. She attended Middle Tennessee State University and studied business administration. In her 20s she worked as a disc jockey and music director in Nashville at various radio stations and met her husband, Zen, 27 years ago. They have been happily married
for the last 22 years. She truly enjoyed her 22 years in the apparel business as a showroom representative for Jones New York, Carole Anderson and Intuitions. Patty truly enjoyed life every day, and her hobbies included reading, cooking, theater, travel, her horse Candy, and she loved her many pets. Her true pride and joy will always be her daughter, Cara. She was truly involved in Cara's activities and was her Daisy and Brownie Girl Scout leader as well as being very active at Patterson Elementary School. Cara and her mother had a special bond and mutual love of horses. Watching Cara ride competitively were some of Patty's happiest moments.
She is survived by her husband, Zenon, and daughter, Cara Cymbala, both of Naperville. She also has one sister, Kathy Chaney (husband Bill) of Nashville; and two brothers, Leslie (wife Donna) Brockett III of Hartsville, Tenn., and Bill (wife Susan) Rittenberry of Gallatin; father-in-law Dr. Bohdan (wife Pat) Cymbala of Sarasota, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Daniel (wife Rhonda) Cymbala of Nashville; two aunts, Lenora Steenbergen of Glasgow, Ky., and Lanwood Price of Bowling Green, Ky.; four nieces and nephews, Sunni and Stormy Brockett of Hartsville and Sarah and Evan Rittenberry of Gallatin.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor (Bowles) Brockett Rittenberry, and father, Leslie Brockett II; and her mother-in-law, Vera Cymbala.
Patty's easygoing personality shined through and made everyone who knew her feel special. She leaves behind many who will hold fond memories of her.
A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 24021 Royal Worlington Drive at Route 59, Naperville.
Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. until time of service.
Entombment with a service will be held Friday, Sept. 10, at the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, Tenn.

John Cecil Curtis Jr., 46, of Naperville died recently.
He was a graduate of the University of Houston in 1980, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He earned his Master of Science in computer engineering from the University of Michigan in 1981. He was a 25-year employee of Lucent Technologies (formerly Bell Laboratories).
He was the beloved husband of Mary (Ryan) and the late Jodi (Nordin); devoted father of Joshua, Devon, Bridget and Cecelia; cherished son of John, M.D., and Jeannine Curtis of Temple, Texas; and son-in-law of William and Brenda Ryan of Evergreen Park, and Obert and Elizabeth Nordin of Houston, Texas; loving brother of Ken (wife Jeannie) and Julie (husband Sonny, M.D.) Win; and dear brother-in-law of the Ryan and Nordin families. He was the fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Ann J. Musfeldt
Ann J. Musfeldt, 83, a resident of Lisle, assuredly, because of her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, went to heaven on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004. She was born Dec. 7, 1920, in St. Louis, Mo.
She was a resident at the Devonshire and Westbury Care Center in Lisle for more than 10 years. She was a longtime resident of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Hoffman Estates. She attended the Evangelical Free Church of Naperville and was an active participant in women's Bible studies. She will be fondly remembered for her penchant for letter writing and card sending. She was a graduate of Gulfport Women's College in Gulfport, Miss.
She is survived by two sons, Gene (wife Linda) White of Playa Del Rey, Calif., and Dr. Charles (wife Linda) Musfeldt Jr., formerly of Naperville and currently of San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters, Miranda and Laura Musfeldt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Musfeldt Sr.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Additional visitation will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evangelical Free Church of Naperville, 1551 Hobson Road.
