Antonette 'Dolly' A. Pasteris

Antonette "Dolly" S. (Carugati) Pasteris, 87, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at her home in Joliet.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Anthony and the CCW.

She is survived by four children, Robert F. (wife Dolores) Pasteris of Naperville, Barbara J. Sudsberry of Joliet, Michael A. (wife Carol) Pasteris of Joliet and Allan (wife Connie) Pasteris of Albuquerque, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (husband Natale) Fazio of Joliet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Pasteris in 1998; ason-in-law, Larry Sudsberry in 2002; a sister, Louise Pisel; and five brothers, Charles, James, John, Louis and Angelo Carugati.

Visitation will take place from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet.

A funeral service will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at the Church of St. Anthony, 100 N. Scott St., Joliet.

Entombment will be at Resurrection cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Joliet Area Community Hospice.

Mary C. Stephens

Mary C. (Clow) Stephens, 95, a seven-year resident of Bolingbrook and longtime resident of Plainfield, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born Dec. 6, 1908, in the historic Clow limestone house at Book Road and 111th Street in Wheatland Township, now Naperville, built by her grandfather, Thomas Clow, in 1868. The Clow family was among the earliest settlers of Wheatland Township.

Mary grew up in Wheatland Township and was a 1926 graduate of Naperville Community High School, and a 1930 graduate of Aurora Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She and her brother, Edward, purchased a farm on Lily Cache Road in Plainfield during the early 1930s and farmed together for many years. The land is still farmed today and owned by Mary, who left the farm in February 1997 to reside at Meadowbrook Manor of Bolingbrook. She was a member for many years of First Presbyterian Church of DuPage; she had been the oldest living member, her baptism taking place in January 1923. She enjoyed dogs and loved nothing more than having a loving canine on her lap.

She is survived by three nieces, Georgia (husband Melvin) Makela of Tucson, Ariz., Joan (husband the late Ronald) Schroeder of Antioch and Marjory (husband John) Fluegel of Jerome, Idaho; five great-nephews, Brian Fluegel, Scott (wife Teresa) Fluegel, William and Robert Makela and Thomas Schroeder; a great-niece, Susan Schroeder; and twin great-great-nieces, Serena and Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Stephens in 1960, whom she married Aug. 19, 1951; her parents, Thomas and Grace (Sennitt) Clow; a brother, Edward Clow; and a sister, Margaret (husband the late Harrison "Hal") Stephens.

Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at First Presbyterian Church of DuPage, 180 N. Weber Road, Bolingbrook. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Jan Kennedy will officiate.

Interment will follow at Wheatland Township cemetery in Naperville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church.

Gertrude Rose Bezpalec

Gertrude Rose Bezpalec passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at the age of 91 at her home, attended by her daughter, Donna Deibert, and granddaughter Penny Bright. She was a resident of Naperville and a former resident of the Austin neighborhood in Chicago.

In addition to her daughter and granddaughter, she is survived by her son, Jack (wife Barbara) Best of North Carolina; her granddaughters, Deborah (husband Kirk) Herzog, Bonnie (husband Greg) LeBarr and Kimberly (husband Geof) Wendt; her great-grandchildren, Francis, Emme, Kelsey and Camille Herzog, Alex and Jakob LeBarr, and Trevor, Davis and Bradon Wendt; her sister, Josephine (the late Art) Tipples; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (the late Lawrence) Stein; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Bezpalec.

Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, to celebrate a memorial Mass at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3 until 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Red Cross, 908-G N. Lake St., Aurora, IL 60506-2516.

Remedios Gonzalves

Remedios Gonzalves, 64, of Naperville passed away Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, in Naperville.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Gonzalves; two daughters, Barbara DeVogelear and Jude Gonzalves; and four grandchildren, Scott and Storm DeVogelear and Robert and Jude Gonzalves.

A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.

Ronald W. Rabiansky

Ronald W. Rabiansky, age 67, a Naperville resident since 1970, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born Jan. 6, 1937, in Chicago.

Mr. Rabiansky was a Navy veteran and had been employed as an electronics technician by Perkin-Elmer, formerly Packard Instruments, in Downers Grove for 40 years. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and in his free time he enjoyed photography, bird watching, radio-controlled boats and any kind of electronic gadget. He was known as "Mr. Fix-It" for his ability to repair anything.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Majewski); one son, Russell (wife Christina) of Kendall, Mich.; two daughters, Patricia (husband Richard) Turcany of Aurora and Laura (husband Stephen) Wencel of Plainfield; six grandchildren, Jacob, Brandyn and Briahna Rabiansky, Nathan Turcany, and Becky and Robbie Wencel; and his mother-in-law, Rena Majewski of Naperville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Estelle Majewski, and a sister, Dorothy Ksiazek.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 24021 W. Royal Worlington Drive, Route 59, Naperville.

A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the funeral home and proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville, for an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial.

Entombment will be at Assumption cemetery in Wheaton.

Ralph R. Michel

Ralph R. Michel, 44, of Naperville died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at his home. He was born Sept. 26, 1959, in Chicago.

He was the loving husband of Anni; dear father of Pascal; fond brother of Zdenek and Bobby; dear brother-in-law of Rudi Kiemen; and dearest uncle of Erica, Christina and other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Patricia Michel.

A memorial Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Drive, Naperville.

Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas Hospice or Northern Illinois Alanon Family Group.

Olga Laatz

Olga (Kamenko) Laatz, 84, a resident of Naperville since 1979 and formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Maywood.

Mrs. Laatz was an avid gardener and loved flowers.

She was the loving wife of the late Harry Carl Laatz; loving mother of Wayne (wife Dorothy) Laatz of Aurora and Ron (wife Eva) Laatz of Naperville; dear grandmother of Pamela (husband Michael) Potoczek, Kristine (husband Mark) Stoner, Ted (wife Abby) Laatz, Aaron (wife Pam) Laatz and Sara (husband Matt) McCaw; wonderful great-grandmother of Brandon, Lauren, Tyler, Annie, Michael, Charles, Kelsey, Ashton, Rylynn, Mason and Kaden; sister of John (the late Mary) Kamenko of Elmhurst and Gus (wife Geraldine) Kamenko of Ballwin, Mo.; and the loving aunt of many.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at the funeral home.

Future inurnment will take place at Mount Emblem cemetery in Elmhurst.

Alverta J. Miller

Alverta J. (Macaluso) Miller, 60, of Plainfield died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at her home. She was born May 11, 1944, in Joliet. Overman-Jones Funeral Home in Plainfield is handling arrangements. Call (815) 436-9221.

Lois Berkery

Lois (Vines) Berkery, 83, of Oak Forest died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in Frankfort. She was born May 11, 1921, in Columbus, Ohio.

She was a dietitian and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

She is survived by three daughters, Pamela Berkery of Frankfort, Jane Berkery of Woodridge and Anne (husband Brett) Swiderek of Naperville; two sons, Michael (wife Paula) of Chicago and Denny (wife Pat) of Madison, Wis.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Jane Greegor of Columbus and Ruth (husband Herb) Kouns of Camarillo, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A., in 1984; and a daughter, Lynne Berkery.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a service, Monday, Oct. 4, at Evangelical Free Church of Naperville, 1551 Hobson Road.

Interment will be at St. Joseph cemetery in Pekin.

Anne K. Bauer-Prekezes

Anne K. Bauer-Prekezes, 39, of Naperville died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She was born June 7, 1965, in Fort Dix, N.J.

She had been a Naperville resident for the past 14 years and was a member of the Samoyed Club of America, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Kennel Club of Yorkville, the Illinois Dressage and Combined Training Association and Mystery Writers of America.

She is survived by her husband, John; her son, Ian; her mother, Judith Bauer of Western Springs; a brother, Steven (wife Danielle) Bauer of Elmhurst; her parents-in-law, James and Calliope Prekezes; and three sisters-in-law, Christine (husband Peter) Vranas, Irene and Joann Prekezes.

She was preceded in death by her father, Steven Bauer.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.

Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Worth.

Bertil E. 'Bert' Landstrom

Evelyn B. Radosta

Evelyn B. (Soellner) Radosta, 85, a 13-year resident of Naperville and formerly of Lyons, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Alden Health Care Center in Naperville. She was born June 27, 1919, in Berwyn. Frank A. Rakowski Jr.

Frank A. Rakowski Jr., 80, a resident of Naperville and formerly of Schiller Park and Plainfield, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Chicago.

Mr. Rakowski served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a tank mechanic. He was employed as a machinist for many years, working for the park district in Schiller Park, and more recently, was the mail manager for Little Realty in Naperville for the past 15 years. He was a longtime resident of Schiller Park, from 1962 to 1990, and was a member of St. Beatrice Catholic Church. He was a resident of Carillon in Plainfield from 1990 until his recent move to Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda (husband Robert) Little of Naperville and Kathleen (husband Dennis) McMahon of Elk Grove Village; eight grandchildren, Michelle (husband William) Small, Christine (husband Bryan) Freese, Jennifer (partner Michelle Baladad) Widd, Daniel and Kelly McMahon, Bobby (wife Mara) Little Jr., Katherine Little and Elizabeth Little; five great-grandchildren, Warren, Wesley, William H. III, Staci and Simone Small; two sisters, Adeline Brown of Westmont and Evelyn Wapiennak of Riverside; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette (Nardella) Rakowski.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

A service will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at the funeral home and proceed to a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.

Interment will follow at Mount Carmel cemetery in Hillside.

Rosalind A. Boylan

William A. Brennan

William A. Brennan, 84, a resident of Downers Grove for 46 years, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Fairview Baptist Nursing Home in Downers Grove.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran, having served from 1942 to 1946, and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Downers Grove for 46 years. He was on the village of Downers Grove Plan Commission from 1971 to 1979 and served as chairman from 1977 to 1979. He was a village of Downers Grove commissioner from 1979 to 1985. He was a member of the Alexander Burns American Legion post. He was a retired chemical engineer from Western Electric.

He is survived by his sons, William M. (wife Mary), Terence J. (wife Jayne) and David G. (Elizabeth) Brennan; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Mae (O'Neill) Brennan, in December 1999; and a sister, Mary Eleanor Unger.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Adams-Winterfield and Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St., Downers Grove.

A funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Church.

Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.
