Robert 'Bob' McGowan
Robert "Bob" McGowan, 71, surrounded by his family, passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at the Lakewood Living Center in Plainfield. He was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Chicago.
He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1959, was employed as a metallurgist at Reynolds Aluminum in McCook and retired from Alumax Aluminum in Morris in 1991. He enjoyed his retirement with his family and friends as a member of the Broken-Down Horse Players Club.
He is survived by his three daughters, Mary McGowan of Rockdale, Joan "Mickey" McGowan of Reston, Va., and Becky (husband Rich) Harp of Plainfield; his two sons, Robert "BT" (wife Gina) McGowan of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Michael McGowan of Bolingbrook; the children's mother, his former wife and friend, Joan McGowan of Rockdale; his beloved five grandsons, Brad, Ryan and Jason Sharp, and Brett and Ethan McGowan; his brothers, Daniel (wife Deloris) McGowan of Minnetrista, Minn., and Thomas McGowan of Cape Cod, Mass.; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen McGowan and Terry McGuire, and special niece, Molly McGuire, all of Naperville; numerous nieces and nephews; and former wife Janice McGowan of Plainfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Joan P. McGowan.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 309 Joliet Road (at Routes 30 and 59), Plainfield.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 129 S. Division St., Plainfield.
Interment will be at St. Mary Immaculate cemetery in Plainfield.

Louis G. Yankovich Sr.
Louis G. Yankovich Sr., of Springfield, Ore., died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, of pneumonia. Mr. Yankovich was 87. He was born April 14, 1917, in Diamondville, Wyo., to Martin and Mary (Horvath) Yankovich.
He attended grade school and high school in Canon City, Colo. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1941 with his two brothers. At the time, he had one brother serving in the U.S. Navy and another in the U.S. Army. All of them came home after the war.
He married
Elizabeth Legan on Jan. 27, 1947, in Canon City. The couple resided in Joliet before moving to Naperville, where they lived for 28 years. In 1980, they moved to Springfield, Ore., when Mr. Yankovich retired from Kroehler Manufacturing Co., where he had worked for more than 30 years as a furniture upholsterer.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Charlotte (husband Jim) Jamieson of Avery, Calif., Jeanette (husband Jim) Hunt of Yorkville, Elaine (husband Darrell) Graham of Springfield, Ore., and Lisa (husband Tom) Klotter of Eugene, Ore.; a son, Louis Jr. (wife Tia) of Bend, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Pierce of Nucla, Colo., and Elsie Pierce of Canon City.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 4, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield, Ore.

Geraldine C. Behr
Geraldine C. Behr, 78, of Naperville died Saturday, Dec. 18, at Meadowbrook Manor in Naperville. She was born Dec. 19, 1925, in St. Paul, Minn.
She was a 1944 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in St. Paul and attended the University of Minnesota and was a member of the Neumann Club. She was a legal secretary and was a court reporter for Allen County Superior Court for 19 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Fort Wayne Aids Task Force, an active Democratic precinct woman and a 1992 delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Naperville; sons Robert of St. Paul, Michael (wife Faith) of Naperville and Kevin of Chicago; a brother, Robert Lamb of St. Paul; a sister, Maryann Copeland of Springfield, Ohio; and two granddaughters, Katherine and Madeleine Behr of Naperville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ann (Curran) Lamb, and a brother, William Lamb.
A memorial Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.
Private internment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.

Julian W. Heim
Julian W. Heim, 88, of Montgomery died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Jennings Terrace in Aurora. He was born June 25, 1916, in Naperville, the son of the late Julian N. and Carolyn (Reinhardt) Heim.
He attended North Central College in Naperville and later graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, where he played on the last football team at the university. He served his country honorably during World War II with the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific. Prior to his retirement after 33 years, he was employed in personnel at Barber-Greene Co. in Aurora. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego.
He is survived by his wife, Alice (DeSort), whom he married
Sept. 5, 1943, in Aurora; a daughter, Martha Eash of DeKalb; two sons, Michael (wife Ann) Heim of Lake Forest and Stephen Heim of Fairburn, Ga.; four grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Heim of Lake Forest and Clint and Gus Eash of St. Charles; a sister, Elaine Tweedy of Penn Valley, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack L. Heim.
Private family services and interment will be held.

Charles E. Lent Sr. of St. Louis, formerly of Naperville, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004.
Dear husband of Nancy Jane (Hund) Lent; dear father of Charles (wife Gretchen) Lent, Cecelia (husband Mike) Quilty, Karen, Mark, Gary and the late Paul Lent; dear stepfather of Paul and Steve (wife Kathi) Wencewicz; and dear grandfather of Heather, Shawna, Samantha, Veronica, Ryan, Rebecca, Kyrra and Jocelyn. He is survived by five sisters and was preceded in death by a brother.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons, South County, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis.
Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at the funeral home and proceed to a Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.

Lloyd G. Flick
Lloyd G. Flick, 66, a lifelong resident of Naperville, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at his home. He was born May 12, 1938, in Chicago.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He had been employed as a welder by West Side Tractor prior to operating his own business, Flick's Welding in Naperville. He was a member of the Judd Kendall VFW Post.
He is survived by his wife, Willa "Billie" (Haas); two daughters, Laurie Thoma of Naperville and Carolyn (husband Don) Fredericks of Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Robert (wife Lisa) Flick of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Steven Flick of Downers Grove; six grandchildren; a brother, John (wife Julie), and a sister, Rosemary "Dorothy" Schmidt, both of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville.
Interment will be private.
A visitation will take place from 3 p.m. until the time of service Friday, Jan. 7.

June E. Girot
June E. (Gast) Girot, 89, of Lisle died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at Alden of Naperville. She was born July 17, 1915, in Chicago. She had been a Naperville resident since 1984, and a lifetime Chicago resident.
She is survived by a son, Robert D. Kemp of Chicago; daughter, Barbara J. Kemp of Naperville; four grandchildren, Robert and Sean Kemp, Cary (wife Cheri) Zaras of Aurora, and Dayne Levesque of Lisle; and one great-granddaughter, Faith Zaras of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by Robert E. Kemp.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, preceded by a one hour of visitation, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Interment will be at Mount Olivet cemetery in Chicago.
Frank Irwin
Frank Irwin, 88, of Naperville died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at St. Patrick's Residence of complications from pneumonia. Mr. Irwin was born Dec. 18, 1916, in Dahlgren.
His parents, Edwin Irwin and Emma Brem, both died at an early age, and the family of seven relocated to Mount Vernon, where he was raised and supported by an older brother, Oscar, and a sister, Carrie Lee Irwin Randall. He graduated from Mount Vernon Township High School in 1934 and relocated to Peoria, where he met his first wife, Hazel Dillon, at a dance.
Mr. Irwin returned to Mount Vernon in 1938, where he was employed by A.E. Pickard Co., selling supplies to the southern Illinois coal mine industry. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January 1943. On July 13, 1944, at the age of 26, 2nd Lt. Irwin, flying a B-17 bomber, was shot down over the city of Munich, Germany, and taken as a prisoner of war and held for 11 months in a German concentration camp before he was liberated by the Russian army in May 1945.
He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Medal, being honorably discharged from active service in December 1945. He returned to Mount Vernon, where he continued his love of flying, working part time as a commercial pilot for Outland Aviation. He also was part-owner of several private aircraft. He was an active member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves until the death of his first wife in 1976, when he retired with the rank of major. He is a former commander and life member of American Legion Post 181, a life member of VFW Post 141, and a life member of the 351st bomb group. He was employed by National Mine Services Co. of Indiana, Pa., as a sales representative until his retirement on March 1, 1979.
He is survived by his sons, R. Dean (wife Kay) of Naperville and Harland Kent (wife Darla) of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Cheryl Worsham of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Ruth Pollard of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, Stacey (husband Dale) Keltner of Plainfield, Kelly Irwin of Chicago and Douglas (wife Anne) Worsham of Madison, Wis.; and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Shea Keltner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Hazel (Dillon) and Venita (Gregory); his brothers, Oscar, Ralph, George and Gene Irwin; and a sister, Carrie Lee Randall.
Visitation and service will take place Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Hughey Funeral Home, 1314 Main St., Mount Vernon.
Interment will be at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens cemetery.

William Thomas Kibby
William Thomas Kibby, 74, a loving husband, father of seven and grandfather of 16, passed away in his home on Dec. 10, 2004.
He proudly served in the U.S. military, was a Boy Scout unit leader in Pack 510 and was a longtime member and Eucharistic minister of St. Raphael Catholic Church. His most prized and cherished moments in his life were the times he spent with his wife of 43 years and his family. He will be remembered for singing "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," his wonderful cooking - especially the Thanksgiving turkey - and trips to "the farm," his sincere smile and giving hugs from the heart.
He will forever be in our hearts and remembered by his wife, Rosemary; seven children, Bill (wife Debra), Denis (wife Kimberly), Marianne (husband Jack) Norris, Terrence (wife Sharon), Veronica (husband Nathaniel) Kolterjahn, Gregory, and Janice Kibby; 16 grandchildren; two brothers, James (the late Rita) and Robert Kibby; and a sister, Rita (husband Charles) Kelly.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville.

Ralph R. Shaw
Ralph R. Shaw, 84, of Downers Grove died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Westmont. He was born July 20, 1920, in Chicago.
He was a graduate of St. John's Military Academy and attended the University of Wisconsin. He was in the Army in World War II, serving as a first lieutenant in the 804th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He worked in the insurance industry for 55 years, most recently with A. F. Shaw and Co.
He was a Eucharistic minister for 46 years and a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, the Chicago Diocese Pence Program and St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Downers Grove. He also volunteered at Hillcrest School and at the YMCA Arthritis Aquatic Class.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Juanita (Kline); a daughter, Pamela (husband John) Laubenstein of Naperville; and two grandchildren, Kristin and Gregory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marguerite.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Toon Funeral Home in Downers Grove.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 1125 Franklin St., Downers Grove.
Interment will take place at Clarendon Hills cemetery in Darien.
