George Yokas

George Yokas, 87, of Naperville died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at his home. He was born Dec. 26, 1916. Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, is handling arrangements. Call (630) 355-0213.

James M. Blasko

James Michael Blasko, 64, of Batavia since 1997 and formerly of Naperville for 20 years, died peacefully at his residence Friday, Dec. 31, 2004. James was born Jan. 10, 1940, in Chicago, the son of Michael and Ann (Lunter) Blasko.

James was united in marriage to Janet Rezek on Sept. 5, 1964, in Chicago.

James was employed as an electrician for several years at Western Electric. He was also employed by United Airlines for 10 years prior to his retirement in 1998. James was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Batavia.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; five children, Jim (wife Valerie), Tom (wife Barbara), Linda (husband Tim) Frazier, Dave and Jeff (wife Ivy); six grandchildren, James, Madeline, Victoria and Michael Blasko and Amanda and Jonathan Frazier; a brother, John (wife Mary) Blasko; his aunts and uncles, Steve, Jim and Mary Blasko and Kathryn Zavoda; and a cousin, Barbara (husband Charles) Ruffetti.

Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 3, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home and proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 W. Main St., Batavia, for a 10:30 a.m. Mass.

Interment will follow at Assumption cemetery in Wheaton.

Donald J. Brown

Donald J. Brown, 76, a 40-year resident of Naperville, died recently.

He was the beloved husband of Ewa and the late Shirley Anna (Kaht). He was a loving father to Brenda (husband Robert) Pignataro, Donna (husband Federico) Becerra, Laura Perry and the late Ralph "Skip" Brown. He was stepfather to Agnes (husband Robert) Ackerman. He was grandfather to nine and great-grandfather to four.

Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 2, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton. A funeral service took place Monday, Jan. 3, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Mount Emblem cemetery.

Rosa DeRosa

Rosa DeRosa, 76, a Naperville resident since 2000, was at rest Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born Nov. 18, 1928, in Gragnano, Italy.

Rosa received her U.S. citizenship in 2003 and voted for the first time in the November 2004 election. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Naperville. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah DeRosa of Naperville; her loving son, Paolo (fiancee Lisa) DeRosa of New York; and three brothers and a sister, all of whom live in Italy.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Prayers will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.

Interment will follow at SS Peter and Paul cemetery in Naperville.

John C. 'Neil' Goblet

John C. "Neil" Goblet, 85, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Lexington of Lombard Nursing Home. He was born April 29, 1919, in Staten Island, N.Y.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired 21-year veteran of the New York Police Department and a retired employee of a Naperville branch of the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife, Gina (Dini); six children, Jane Ann (husband Craig) McKinna, Donna Zouvas, Theresa (husband Michael) McCormick, Jack (wife Kathy) Goblet, Barb (husband Buzz) Hicks and Raymond (wife Mary) Goblet; six grandchildren, Kimberly (husband Doug) Gonsalves, Nicholas Zouvas, John (wife Jen) Goblet, and Joseph, Sean, Jason and Madeleine Goblet; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Lauren Gonsalves; two sisters, Janis Pizzo and Margaret Newman; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Marion (Meyer).

Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Christ the King Church, 1501 S. Main St., Lombard, followed by a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Macular Degeneration Foundation Inc., M.D. Research Fund, P.O. Box 531313, Henderson, NV 89053.

Betty J. Gunter

Betty J. Gunter, 72, of Naperville died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Westbury Care Center in Lisle. She was born May 10, 1932, in Bloomington.

She was a retired employee of Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. after more than 25 years of service. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville, where she belonged to the W.O.W. group and the Quilting Club. She was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Victoria (Dallas) Loven of Evansville, Ind., Sidney Rane (Tim) Hoesch of Zeeland, Mich., and Melissa (Leo) Doyle of Aurora; seven grandchildren, Bobbi Jean (Preston) Green and Lindsay (Todd) Treadway of Evansville, Hayley and Samuel Hoesch of Zeeland, and Brittany, Clayton and Riley Doyle of Aurora; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Dee) Alexander of Centralia and Bud Alexander of Benton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Gunter; and her parents, Arley and Ada (Carlton) Alexander.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.

Additional services and interment will be held Thursday, Jan. 6, in Benton.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Grace United Methodist Church.

Norma J. Herkes

Norma J. (Pfeifer) Herkes, 75, of Naperville and formerly of Aurora, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born March 26, 1929, in Aurora.

She was a homemaker who lovingly raised her children and then began working at Dreyer Medical Clinic. She retired this fall after a 25-year career at Nicor Gas.

She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia (husband Charles) Webb, Laurel (husband Michael) Marchi and Marybeth Herkes; and two grandchildren, Kathryn and Gregory Marchi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. "Bill" Herkes; her parents, Marguerite "Marg" (Smith) and Clarence "Buck" Pfeifer.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at The Daleiden Mortuary, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora. The Rev. David Foxgrover will officiate.

Interment will be at Mount Olivet cemetery in Chicago.

Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the mortuary.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Salvation Army, 437 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora, IL 60505.

Steven W. Joslyn

Steven W. Joslyn, 43, of Naperville and formerly of Chicago and Glen Ellyn, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at Alden Care Healthcare Center in Naperville. He was born Oct. 10, 1961. Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, is handling arrangements. Call (630) 469-0032.

Roy R. Randall

Roy R. Randall, 75, of Geneva, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at home. He was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Oswego.

He served proudly in the U.S. Marines Corps during the Korean War and owned and operated Randall Lumber in Aurora for 30 years. He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 22 in Geneva and was a member of Fox Valley Presbyterian Church and the Primetimers. An avid collector, he also belonged to Midwest Tool Collectors.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Georgia (Unwin) Randall; three sons, Jeff Randall of Ramsay, Mich., Scott (Monica) Randall of Geneva and Ben (Kathy) Randall of Morris; six grandchildren, Joy, Jody, Amie, Benjamin, Alex and Kelby; two sisters, Fern (Lyle) Pool of Aurora and Ruth Darrow of Naperville; sisters- and brothers-in-law Mary and Jurine Randall and Ed Braun; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Hazel (Brennan) Randall; an infant brother, George Randall; brothers Warren and Jack Randall; a sister, Hazel Braun; and a brother-in-law, Warren Darrow.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at the Yurs Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St., Geneva.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at the Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, 227 Eastside Drive, Geneva. The Rev. Carl Gray will officiate.

Mr. Randall's adamant request was for no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis, 1659 Braham Lane, Suite F 277, San Jose, CA 95118-5226.

Marguerite Frances Fox Randall

Marguerite Frances Fox Randall, 92, of Naperville died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Meadowbrook Manor Health Care Center in Naperville. She was born Jan. 14, 1912, in Detroit.

She was the eldest of five children of Isabelle Claudia and Clayton E. Fox. As a child, she moved to London, Ontario, for health reasons and resided there for several years with her maternal grandmother, Anne Fountain Millar Budd. Upon returning to the States, she attended primary and secondary schools in Detroit and Ann Arbor, Mich. She earned a baccalaureate degree in music from the University of Michigan. While attending there, she was introduced to James A. Randall, a student and a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. They married on Jan. 18, 1937, and were loving, faithful helpmates, living in Detroit, Inkster, Willow Run, Ann Arbor, Prairie View, Texas, and Flint, Mich., where he died in 1978.

She enjoyed a career characterized by her versatility. She worked in administrative services at Prairie View A&M College in Texas, was a coordinator for the foreign students union at the University of Michigan and headed the adult education division of the C.S. Mott Foundation in Flint, overseeing a staff of more than 20 people. She received the Sojourner Truth Award for her contributions to adult education and foreign exchange programs. She was multitalented in the graphic arts, frequently exhibiting her acrylic, watercolor and pastel canvases, as well as ceramic clay and metal sculptures. She handcrafted unique jewelry, exhibiting and selling it at museums, boutiques and home shows in Flint and Detroit and Brooklyn, N.Y.

An accomplished classical pianist, she taught music as well as graphic arts. She was a lifetime member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority and the Urban League. She was an avid contract bridge player, enjoyed entertaining, and was socially active in each community in which she lived.

She is survived by two sons, James A. (wife Terree) Randall Jr. of Brooklyn and Jon C. (wife Louise) Randall of Naperville; four grandchildren, Kjirsten Marguerite Randall of Atlanta, Jason (wife Sonja) Randall of Chicago, Jeremy (wife Maya) Randall of Washington, D.C., and Chelsea Randall of Brooklyn; two great-grandchildren, Erin and Nina Randall; a great-great-granddaughter, Zada Randall; a brother, Clayton (wife Sarah) Fox Jr. of Detroit; a brother-in-law, Benard Porche of Farmington Hills, Mich.; and a sister-in-law, Vivian Randall of Detroit.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Vivian Porche and Ardis Seeney; and a brother, Kenneth Fox, who was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in World War II.

Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. John AME Church, 142 S. Fourth Ave., Aurora, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.

Inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at Fairview cemetery in Ann Arbor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 1801 S. Meyers Road, Suite 100, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.

William Thomas Kibby

William Thomas Kibby, 74, a loving husband, father of seven and grandfather of 16, passed away in his home on Dec. 10, 2004.

He proudly served in the U.S. military, was a Boy Scout unit leader in Pack 510 and was a longtime member and Eucharistic minister of St. Raphael Catholic Church. His most prized and cherished moments in his life were the times he spent with his wife of 43 years and his family. He will be remembered for singing "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," his wonderful cooking - especially the Thanksgiving turkey - and trips to "the farm," his sincere smile and giving hugs from the heart.

He will forever be in our hearts and remembered by his wife, Rosemary; seven children, Bill (wife Debra), Denis (wife Kimberly), Marianne (husband Jack) Norris, Terrence (wife Sharon), Veronica (husband Nathaniel) Kolterjahn, Gregory, and Janice Kibby; 16 grandchildren; two brothers, James (the late Rita) and Robert Kibby; and a sister, Rita (husband Charles) Kelly.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville.

Interment will take place Wednesday, Dec. 15, at St. John Cantius cemetery in Sobieski, Wis.

James A. 'Jim' Meyers

James A. "Jim" Meyers, 84, a resident of Naperville for three years and formerly of Chicago, Maywood and La Grange Park, died Friday, Dec. 17, at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

He grew up on Chicago's north side. He was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School's class of 1938 and served in Europe with the U.S. Army as a medic during World War II. He was employed for many years by the Sweetheart Cup Co. of Chicago. He loved to sing and was a member of the Paulist Choir in his youth and later a member of the Adult and Resurrection Choirs at St. Raphael Church in Naperville. He was also a fourth-degree knight of the Knights of Columbus, Naperville Council 1369.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou (husband Steve) Evans of Burr Ridge and Laura (husband Russ) Weiland of Naperville; nine grandchildren, Chris, Lisa, Stephanie, Tony, Jimmy, Jeff, Daniel, Kaity and Krissy; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Toni and Emily; three siblings, Ray (wife Rita) Meyers of Palatine, Lorraine (husband Harvey) Carnehl of Missouri and Yvonne (husband Dick) DeBruin of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne (Travers) Meyers, whom he married in 1943; a son, Jimmy (wife Jamie) Meyers; his parents, Charles and Helen Meyers; and a brother, Charles "Buddy" Meyers.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Services will begin at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home and will proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Raphael Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville, with the Rev. Dennis Paul officiating.

Interment will take place at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.

In lieu of flowers, direct memorials to St. Benedict's Abbey, P.O. Box 333, Bennet, WI 53102; or the St. Raphael Church Organ Fund.

Betty L. (Haywood) Pitsch

Betty L. (Haywood) Pitsch, 82, a resident of Covenant Village in Golden Valley, Minn., and a former 35-year resident of Naperville, passed to the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, after a three-year fight with lung cancer. She was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Maywood.

She was a 1943 graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., was a member of the DAR, and had been a 25-year member of Evangelical Free Church of Naperville.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Gail) Pitsch of St. Louis Park, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Pitsch, in 1994.

Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Evangelical Free Church of Naperville, 1551 E. Hobson Road, Naperville, with interment in Naperville cemetery.

Memorials in Mrs. Pitsch's name may be made to Park Nicollet Foundation Hospice, P.O. Box 650, Minneapolis, MN 55440.
