James Hudoc
James E. Hudoc of Lombard, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 6, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard.
Mr. Hudoc was the father of Michael (Leslie), John (Elena) and Karin (Mathew); and grandfather of four. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth.
Mr. Hudoc was a 1961 graduate of Chicago Technical College and a member of the Sigma Phi Delta fraternity. He worked for GTE in Northlake for 27 years. In 1988 he went into business with his wife and oldest son Michael and dedicated his working years to Stemple's Cycle Center in Elmhurst.
Memorial donations to the National Brain Tumor Foundation, 22 Battery St., Suite 612, San Francisco, CA 94111-5520, would be appreciated.
Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Illinois.
Lauren Kiefer
Lauren M. Kiefer, 24, of Villa Park, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006 in Villa Park.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 28, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at Ascension of Our Lord Church in Oakbrook Terrace. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Ms. Kiefer was the daughter of Henry and Janice Kiefer, sister of Carli (Lance) Bettini, and granddaughter of Anthony and Marie Lapardo.
Ms. Kiefer was a graduate of Willowbrook High School and Columbia College in 2005.
Richard McBride
Richard Charles McBride, 53, of Elgin, formerly a longtime resident of Lombard, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006 at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 29 and 30 at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home in Wheaton.
Mr. McBride was the husband of Debbie; father of Christina; son of Esther; brother of Cynthia (Joseph) Pavone, Ralph McBride and Robert (Amy) McBride; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph McBride of Lombard; and infant brother, Roger.
Mr. McBride was a 1972 graduate of Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, and attended College of DuPage. He was a longtime bricklayer and construction worker, and was also trained as a stone mason. He was noted for the beautiful fireplaces he built, many of which can be found in the Lombard area. He was known for his devotion to family and friends.
Walter Mercer
Walter T. Mercer, 78, of Lombard, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006 in Lombard.
Visitation will be today, Jan. 3, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 4, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Mercer was the father of Jenny Milazzo; brother of Jean Mercer, Patricia Huffmen and Judy (Bill) McGrath; and uncle and friend of many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; and sister, Norine.
Mr. Mercer loved animals, jazz music, getting together with friends; traveling with his wife; joking around; planting flowers; and autumn.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 1801 S. Meyers Road, Suite 100, Oakbrook Terrace, Il 60181, would be appreciated.
James Peck
James R. Peck, 71, of Northlake, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 at Concord Place in Northlake.
A private viewing was held at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.
Mr. Peck was the father of April Sterling, formerly of Lombard, Hope (Brian) Gregory, Bill and Gregory; and grandfather of seven. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy.
Mr. Peck was a resident of Northlake for two years and was formerly of Texas. He was a retired carpenter.

Elizabeth Spialek
Elizabeth "Betty" Spialek, nee McPhillips, 82, of Lombard, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 20, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mrs. Spialek was the mother of Larry (Diane) Jr., Mark and Keith (Tammy) of Lombard; and grandmother of six. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; daughter, Jennifer; and brothers, Thomas and Joseph.
Mrs. Spialek had been a resident of Lombard since 1956.
August Storino
Funeral services for August F. Storino, 84, of Villa Park, were held Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 at the DuPage Memorial Center in West Chicago, to Mass at Divine Providence Church in Westchester. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Storino was the father of Judy (Paul) Warnke, Tina, Carole (Tony) Primack and Michael (Audrey); grandfather of five; great-grandfather of four; and brother, uncle and friend of many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy.
Mr. Storino was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.
Arlene Adamik
Arlene Adamik, nee Tropple, 79, of Lombard, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006.
A celebration of her life was held Sunday, Jan. 7, at the Marriott Suites in Downers Grove.
Mrs. Adamik was the grandmother of two, step-grandmother of two, great-grandmother of six, and mother-in-law of Sandra Adamik. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Jr.; and son, Joseph III.
Mrs. Adamik was known for staying informed about the world, and worked to end injustice through supporting numerous political campaigns and human-rights causes by writing to her political representatives and letters to the editor.

Julia Peterson
Julia C. Peterson, nee Hogan, 90, of Florida, formerly of Lombard, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in Florida.
A memorial gathering and service will be held Saturday, April 12, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by her daughters, Martha Tilley, Patti Brock, Janice and Julia (Jeff) Irvin of Lombard; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; and best friend, Mary Neil.
Mrs. Peterson had been a resident of Lombard until moving to Ft. Pierce, Fla., 24 years ago.
