Joseph Raczkiewicz
Joseph Raczkiewicz, 91, of Lombard and Westchester, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at Pavilion of Forest Park.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 13, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Peter Jarosz officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mr. Raczkiewicz was the father of George (Sharon), Mary (the late Robert), Davie, Harriet Heyda and Henry (Melanie); grandfather of five; great-grandfather of one; loving friend of Stella Kaciuba; uncle of many; and great-uncle of one. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janina; parents, Vincent and Stanislawa Raczkiewicz; and siblings, John and Sophie.
Mr. Raczkiewicz had served as a lieutenant in the Polish Forces under British command from July 1940 to June 1947. He had worked as a tool and die maker.

Marie Rathgeb
Marie T. Rathgeb, 99, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 13, with prayers from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Pius X Church in Lombard. Entombment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Rathgeb was the mother of Eugene (Janet) and Linda (James) Seimetz, grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of two. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin A.
Mrs. Rathgeb was a homemaker and was previously active with the Villa Park Recreation Department.
Georgene Schmidt
Georgene E. Schmidt, nee Manning, 80, of Hanover Park, formerly of Lombard, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 11, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Addison. Interment was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Addison.
Mrs. Schmidt was the mother of Donald (Geraldine) Adamcyk, Phyllis (James) Mc Neely, Michael and Russell (Mary); grandmother of 12; great-grandmother of three; and sister of Charles (Joy) Manning, Donna Robinson and Sandy (Dominic) Bavone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester.
Mrs. Schmidt was an 18-year resident of Hanover Park and a longtime member of the Addison VFW Ladies Auxiliary #7446.
Memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

Anna Tufano
Anna Rosa Tufano, nee Savaiano, 94, of Joliet, formerly of Villa Park and Chicago, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2007 at Manor Care of Naperville.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 18, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Hoehn of Sacred Heart Church officiating. Interment is at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Tufano was the mother of Donald (Alice); grandmother of three; great-grandmother of three; sister of Dominick (Yola) of Lombard, Joseph (Dagney) and Genevieve Mrozek; and aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and sisters, Antoinette (Ray) Yario, Mary Garaffa and Margaret (William) Venuto.

John Viskant
John A. Viskant, of Lombard, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007 at Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream.
A memorial visitation and service will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Viskant was the husband of Kathryn, brother of Albert, uncle of five nieces and nephews, and great-uncle of five nieces and nephews.
Mr. Viskant was a resident of Lombard for 27 years and was formerly of Oak Park. He served with U.S. Navy Aviator Pacific during World War II, and flew Catalina "flying boats." He had retired from Sears Roebuck as manager of catalogue sales after over 40 years. He was a longtime summer resident of Harbert, Mich.

James K. Young, 73, of Crest Hill, formerly of Lombard and Villa Park, died Sunday, Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 at HCR Manor Care in Westmont.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 13, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Interment was private.
Mr. Young was the husband of Barbara; father of Kathleen Froberg, James (Debra) and Jacqueline (Denis) Zavodny; grandfather of three; brother of Robert (Janice) Young; and uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Mr. Young had worked as an attorney for York Township-Villa Park and Lombard.

Lottie Barca
Lottie R. Barca, nee Mateja, 82, of Lombard, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
A memorial Mass was held on Monday, Jan. 15, at Sacred Heart Church in Lombard. Interment was private.
Mrs. Barca was the mother of James (Chris), Robert (Mary Ann), Connie and Elizabeth; grandmother of seven; and great-grandmother of one.
Mrs. Barca had been a resident of Lombard for 10 years.

Irene P. Barendt, nee Mikos, 83, of Lombard, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007 in Lombard.

Mrs. Barendt was the mother of Ruth (Greg) Otten, Carol (Dale) Hopkins of Lombard, Mary June (Ralph) Knox and Thomas (Nancy); grandmother of nine; great-grandmother of five; sister of Leona (William) Rock and Eugene (Margaret) Mikos; and relative and friend of many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.
Mrs. Barendt had worked as a grammar school teacher for the Archdiocese of Chicago. She had enjoyed many activities, such as knitting, playing cards and Scrabble, and swimming; her passions were reading and traveling.
